“At the forefront of country music’s crop of newcomers” (Billboard), Tucker Wetmore makes his formal introduction today with his debut EP Waves on a Sunset, out now. Featuring eight tracks, five of which were co-written by Wetmore, Waves on a Sunset was aptly named after the singer-songwriter’s favorite line ‘waves on a sunset’ from his life-changing single “Wind Up Missin’ You.” Wetmore celebrated the milestone release by hosting a surprise pop-up show for fans at Losers Bar & Grill in Nashville last night before kicking off his highly anticipated, sold-out headlining tour, Waves on a Sunset Tour 2024, tonight in Statesboro, Ga.

“This EP is the first time I’m getting to show you who I am in a body of work,” shares Wetmore. “With so much I want to say, it’s impossible to do in just eight songs. But by the end of this project, I hope you’re excited to hear more because this is truly just the beginning. I’m beyond proud and thankful to everyone who helped make this possible – the writers, producers, my team, family, friends and especially the fans. This truly wouldn’t be possible without all of you and above all, God.”

So it’s talking about those last few moments of those last few months you get with your significant other when you’re young and you’re about to go off to college or life is about to get in the way. And we wanted to make it feel like you can roll your windows down and listen to it down the road. And we just kind of put all that in one song.”

Tucker Wetmore – Wine Into Whiskey (AUDIO): “I wrote Wine Into Whiskey about growing up with four sisters and seeing the relationships that they kind of went through throughout the years and taking a step back and asking myself if they would have heard the words within this song, would they still do what they did and kind of putting the light to situations like that and hopefully changing some of the men of this world.”

Tucker Wetmore – You, Honey (AUDIO): “You, Honey is a love song from top to bottom. And her name is Bee and honey is what I call her.”

Tucker Wetmore – Wind Up Missing You (AUDIO): “Wind Up Missing You is just a feel good song. It’s about that moment when you first meet someone and you feel that spark and you know it’s just a heartbreak waiting to happen and you’re gonna wind up missing them.”

Tucker Wetmore – Break First (AUDIO): “Break first is about being on the fence in a relationship. So being stuck between wanting to go have fun and then wanting to settle down and asking yourself which one’s gonna break first, your habits or her heart.”

Tucker Wetmore – When I Ain’t Looking (AUDIO): “When I Look In is a song about coming to a realization that the wheel is just best held in God’s hands and that the greatest things are found when you ain’t searching so hard.”

Tucker Wetmore – What Would You Do (AUDIO): What Would You Do is about coming to the end of a pretty toxic relationship and just asking the question, what would you do if I did what you did to me?

Tucker Wetmore – Mister Miss Her (AUDIO): “Mister Miss Her is a song about the classic country story where the guy messes up and he’s stuck missing her and she’s off to better things.”

Defining Wetmore’s ultra-modern sound and the boundaries that it confidently pushes, Waves on a Sunset shines a spotlight on his songwriting prowess and ability to select the tracks that speak to his quickly growing fan base. The EP features four previously released songs and four new tracks, including “You, Honey,” “Break First,” “When I Ain’t Lookin’” and “Mister Miss Her,” showcasing the three sides of his current life: the heartbreaker, the heartbroken, and the head-over-heels romantic. All eight tracks back Country Central’sproclamation that “everything he touches turns to gold.” The Tennessean also stands strong in Wetmore’s corner, saying, “Ultimately, he’s succeeding because he’s a quick study of modern tastes, naturally adept at toeing the line between country music, Western culture and global popularity.”

The EP opens with Wetmore’s latest release “Silverado Blue,” which Holler praised for its “relatable lyricism and his ear for a killer melody.” His breakout track “Wine Into Whiskey” follows, which turned heads as it debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, bringing Forbes to say, “clearly he’s off to a great start.” The in-love side of the project can be seen in “You, Honey,” before segueing into his follow-up Billboard Hot 100 single “Wind Up Missin’ You.” The “surefire hit” (Billboard) went on to become his first single at Country radio and is currently in the Top 20 and climbing. The second half of the EP features “Break First” where he explores inner conflict over an 1980’s-inspired pulse. “When I Ain’t Lookin’” celebrates life’s unexpected blessings before the “achy breaky” (Seattle Times) “What Would You Do?.” “Mister Miss Her” rounds out the EP with a raw, acoustic ballad that embraces heartbreak.
