DIERKS BENTLEY IS ANNOUNCED AS THE RECIPIENT OF THE CRS 2018 ARTIST HUMANITARIAN AWARD.

The Country Radio Broadcasters have announced multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley as the recipient of the CRS 2018 Artist Humanitarian Award, presented by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and Dan Halyburton, Owner of Falls Media Group, as the recipient of the CRS 2018 Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award. Both individuals will be recognized at Country Radio Seminar 2018, following the Opening Ceremonies on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.

The CRB Artist Humanitarian Award was created in 1990 by the organization’s board to honor Country music artists who have exhibited exceptional humanitarian efforts during their career.  Past recipients of the annual award have included Zac Brown, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Charlie Daniels, among others.

Award-winning entertainer Dierks Bentley has demonstrated his dedication to giving back nation-wide through many charitable initiatives and events, as he has raised over $4 million for charities through his “Miles & Music For Kids” all-star motorcycle ride and concert, including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country. Additionally, in 2013 Bentley partnered with KMLE and KAFF as they organized and hosted the Country Cares Concert in Arizona, raising more than half a million dollars for the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. His first-ever song written and recorded for a motion picture, “Hold The Light,” featured in Columbia Pictures and Black Label Media’s Only The Brave embodies the spirit of the true heroism behind the firefighters depicted in the film. Bentley has also put the spotlight on local Nashville non-profit organizations such as Safe Haven Family Shelter, as his raw music video for “Riser” magnified a true story and the struggles of a formerly homeless mother.

CHRISTMAS 2017: Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson is the patriarch of a family of five, including his wife Denise and his three daughters Mattie, Ali and Dani. Even though his children are grown, his family still stick to their Christmas traditions.

“Christmas is pretty traditional. We don’t let anybody open any presents until Christmas morning,” says Alan. “We don’t let them get up on their own and take off, you know, everybody has to wait and kind of get situated, and maybe have a cup of coffee, and then we start all of the regular Christmas morning activities, opening presents, taking pictures and video. We have music going, you know, I try to keep Christmas music going in the background. I like to turn that on before I let them come down to the tree and everything.”

Alan released his second holiday album, Let It Go, in 2002.

“Always try to remember Jesus’ birthday, and just the whole thing, and have a wonderful, big meal, almost like Thanksgiving four weeks later. We have the same, pretty much – turkey, dressing, all the same kind of things. Sometimes we have family members in Tennessee, and sometimes just us or friends, and we always go home to Georgia prior to that, you know…pretty standard, lovely Christmas.”

“I love the, you know, when we listen to Christmas songs, we put on the old ones that you grew up with, and the classic recordin’s and…from Gene Autry to Nat King [Cole], and you know, all the guys and Bing Crosby and everybody. But songs that we like to listen to at Christmas.”

CHRIS STAPLETON HAS THE ‘TIME OF HIS LIFE’ WITH ACTOR CHRIS PRATT ON THE JIMMY KIMMEL SHOW.

Chris Stapleton appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (December 4th) with Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt as guest host. During the show, Pratt brought out Stapleton to sing a duet, aka “Cheesy Duet.” After spinning a wheel of several songs including “A Whole New World,” “Don’t Know Much,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” the wheel landed on “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing. They did a great job, and even did the “lift” from the end of the film, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

The two then talked about Stapleton’s new album, From A Room: Volume 2, as well as their newfound friendship and toast each other with some “Tennessee Whiskey.”

Check out the videos below.

Stapleton is currently climbing the country charts with his song, “Broken Halos.”

CHRISTMAS 2017: Kip Moore

Kip Moore and his brothers would go on fishing trips with their dad around Christmas before the elder Moore passed away a few years ago, and it was always one of his favorite traditions. Another one of his favorite traditions was watching movies with his family on Christmas Eve.

“The night before Christmas, we would rent a bunch of movies,” says Kip. “My dad would take us to the store, the video store and we would rent a bunch of movies and we’d watch them all through the night. That was always a thing that we’d look forward to was all hanging out together and laugh until 3 or 4 or 5 in the morning, then waking up two hours later for the presents.”

The Georgia native has just released his new song, “Last Shot,” from his album Slowheart. He’s got a few dates left on the books to close out 2017, before hitting the road with Luke Bryan on the What Makes You Country Tour, kicking off February 16th in Springfield, Missouri.

Audio / Kip Moore talks about one of his favorite Christmas traditions as a child, and he hopes to carry on those traditions with his future family.

That was always a thing that we’d look forward to was all hanging out together and laugh until 3 or 4 or 5 in the morning, then waking up two hours later for the presents. I hope that I can carry that out when I have a family – I’m still a little ways away from that. [laughs] But, I hope, there comes a time for that when I can, you know, I think all of the video stores will be gone by then, so I guess that’ll be a Netflix night, but hopefully I can do that kind of stuff. I really miss it bad going on the fishing trips. I grew up going on tons of fishing trips with my dad and brothers, and usually the holidays were a time to get to do that again, and I hope I can be half as awesome as my dad was with us, and knowing how much he worked taking the time to take us on those fishing trips. I hope I can get the chance to do that with, I might even include my future wife on the fishing trips.” [laughs heartily]

Audio / Kip Moore recalls his last holiday fishing trip with his father, who he lost a couple of years ago.

“I went fishing with my dad for the last time. We all went fishing together during the holidays. Growing up as a kid, he was always taking us flats fishing up the Gulf Coast, and we all went one last time when we knew it was coming to an end. It was just one of those days – never in my life, so many times we had gone, we didn’t catch anything. I mean, it was every single cast for seven hours, we catch a fish. It was the wildest thing ever where I didn’t know it was possible to catch that many fish. It was the most amazing painted sunset when we were driving in that I’ve ever seen in my life. We just stopped the boat and we all just stared at it for a while, and you just knew, we would kind into that moment for that day. That was kind of given to us, and you knew that was going to be probably the last time that we got to take a fishing trip with him. It was special, man. I’ll never forget that.”

CHRISTMAS 2017: Easton Corbin

Easton Corbin may not had snow on Christmas Day growing up in Florida, but he certainly had enough to get him into the holiday spirit. He reveals which soulful sounds got him into the holiday spirit. “I think the song that gets me, I guess, in the most Christmas spirit would probably be – since Merle Haggard is one of my heroes, ‘If I Make It Through December,’” says Easton.

His favorite gift would have to be a guitar. “My favorite Christmas gift probably as a kid would probably be the guitar my dad got me, the first electric guitar my dad got me one Christmas,” says Easton.

Easton is nearing the Top 10 on the country charts with his song, “A Girl Like You.”

“Growing up, we’d always go to my Grandma’s. I don’t know what most people do. We do like lunch – they call it dinner, supper you know. We’d always do Christmas dinner there at 12 or 1 o’clock. My mom and dad divorced, and I lived at home with my mom and we’d open presents at my mom’s house, and then around 11:30a, we’d all go to my Grandma’s and everybody, the rest of the family, the extended family, my dad and everybody, we’d all gather up there and open up presents too. So, that’s kind of where everybody would congregate at my Grandma’s.

GEORGIA-BORN AND BRED LUKE BRYAN HAS A LIST OF WHAT MAKES HIM COUNTRY.

Luke Bryan releases his new album, What Makes You Country, on Friday (December 8th). The four-time Entertainer of the Year has a list of what makes him country, which includes manners and growing up in Georgia.

“I think that what makes me country is where I was raised — Leesburg, Georgia — how I was brought up saying ‘Yes sir,’ ‘No sir,’ ‘Yes, ma’am,’ ‘No, ma’am,’ hopefully with manners and raised with a work ethic and raised in the outdoors fishing and hunting and playing sports,” says Luke. “I would say definitely it starts with my small-town upbringing and how we were raised; church on Sundays as much as we could. But just enjoying life and living life in a small town.”

Luke is poised to enter the top of the country charts with his latest song, “Light It Up,” which is the first release from his new album, What Makes You Country.

Luke is set to perform on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on December 12th.

CHRIS STAPLETON’S ‘SCARECROW IN THE GARDEN’ IS A STORY SONG FEATURING DARK SUBJECT MATTER.

Chris Stapleton released his new album, From A Room: Volume 2, which he recorded at the same time as Volume 1, released this past May and won the CMA Album of the Year Award. The very first song he recorded for both projects is “Scarecrow in the Garden,” which he wrote with Brice Long and Matt Fleener. The tune’s subject matter is relatively dark, but the story song contains a lot of substance and imagery, according to Chris.

“Maybe it’s my inner love of bluegrass murder ballads creeping out. It’s a farming/suicide song for the most part [laughs], you know. So it’s not exactly like, it’s not happy fare at all. But it’s a fun story-song and fun’s not the right word, but for me it’s fun, you know. I love things with story and substance and I feel like lyrically and subject-matter-wise, that thing has all that to me. And I just love the imagery in that song. I’m not trying to toot my own horn, I just, we had a good day that day.”

Chris, who is making his way up the country charts with “Broken Halos,” will appear on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (December 4th).

“That’s the very first thing that we recorded. That’s the one song I walked into the studio, I mean not for this record, for both of these few records, and I said, ‘I want to do this song.’ And that song has been in my catalog for a bit, and it’s been hanging around. Nobody recorded it or anything. Maybe it’s my inner love of bluegrass murder ballads creeping out. It’s a farming/suicide song for the most part [laughs], you know. So it’s not exactly like, it’s not happy fare at all. But it’s a fun story-song and fun’s not the right word, but for me it’s fun, you know.
