NEWS AND NOTES: Billy, Easton, Canaan, Vince, Darius

Billy Currington, Easton Corbin and Canaan Smith, along with Cole Swindell, Michael Ray and Maddie & Tae helped raise more than $250,000 during a concert last week for the One Orlando Fund to help victims and their families of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.

Vince GillRicky Skaggs and Patty Loveless performed “Go Rest High on That Mountain” during Ralph Stanley’s funeral in McClure, Virginia on Tuesday (June 28th).

Darius Rucker has earned himself another accolade – he’s getting his own Madame Tussaud wax figure. He tweeted a photo on Wednesday as he was “getting fitted.” Can’t wait to see the final product!

Easton Corbin is featured in a new initiative with Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts, giving access to mash-ups by NE-YO, DNCE and Keke Palmer, inspired by Pop-Tarts’ new mash-ups with soda flavors – Frosted Crush Orange and Frosted A&W Root Beer. Fans can download the Smule app and record their own mash-ups (or “duets”) with the four artists. Easton and Keke did a version of the country singer’s hit “Baby, Be My Love Song,” as well as Keke’s “Enemiez.”

VINCE GILL CELEBRATES 25TH YEAR AS AN OPRY MEMBER WITH A LIMITED EDITION VINYL OF HIS LATEST ALBUM.

Vince Gill  is celebrating his 25TH year as a member of the Grand Ole Opry with the release of a Limited Edition Vinyl version of his latest album, Down To My Last Bad Habit.

Fans can pre-order autographed copies of the historic package—which includes a stylish T-Shirt illustrated with a photo of one of Vince’s favorite guitars—by going to http://goo.gl/vmqL6N.  Orders will arrive on or around July 15.  After that date, only the album will be available at retail that carries vinyl.

The vinyl edition, which contains all the songs found on the original CD, features a brand new cover designed by Hatch Show Print, the legendary printer of show business posters that is now a part of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

“No one appreciates the virtues of digital recording more than I do,” Vince says.  “But there’s something magical about the sound and feel of vinyl that a whole new generation is discovering. It’s something that’s yours, something you can share with friends.  Listening to those well-worn vinyl albums in my family’s collection—and reading all that wonderful ‘insider’ information on the back—inspired me in ways that nothing else could.”

When it was released in February, Down To My Last Bad Habit sent reviewers scrambling for superlatives.  “Soulful yet sophisticated, emotionally raw yet gleaming with studio polish,” said USA Today. Rolling Stone praised Vince’s “exquisite guitar work and soulful vulnerability,” while The Boot enthused, “[This is] quite possibly the most perfect project—from a vocal and instrumental perspective—that he has recorded in his career.”

Inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on August 10th, 1991, Vince is also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as a 20-time Grammy winner.

Gill continues his 2016 with dates in Torrington, CT (July 15); Cohasset, MA (July 16); Hyannis, MA (July 17) and throughout the rest of the year.

DARIUS RUCKER RELEASES HIS LATEST SINGLE, ‘IF I TOLD YOU.’

Darius Rucker knows that in order to move people, there has to be vulnerability and authenticity in the message. Rucker first demonstrated his ability to expose that underlying raw emotion with the first of his seven No. 1’s, “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” from his Platinum Learn To Live and most recently in “So I Sang” from Southern Style. With our first taste of new music in “If I Told You,” Rucker unveils a heartfelt new track worldwide Tuesday (June 28th) on iHeart Radio. Expected to be the first cut from his fifth major label country album for Capitol Records Nashville, the song is also available today on streaming and digital retail services.

“I always tell people, the first time I heard [the Black Crowes’] ‘She Talks To Angels,’ those lyrics did something to me. I probably requested that song eight times at different bars in Columbia, S.C. before going home, putting on Bonnie Raitt’s Home Plate, and trying to write ‘She Talks To Angels’ for Bonnie Raitt. ‘Let Her Cry’ just poured out,” shares Rucker. “For me, ‘If I Told You,’ inspired me like ‘Angels’ as it’s not a song I wrote, but as a songwriter I would not change a line as it moves me to want to not only sing along but also as a songwriter it inspires a new perspective.”

In his inaugural project with producer Ross Copperman, “If I Told You” also marks the first time Rucker has worked with Copperman’s co-writers on the single, Jon Nite and Shane McAnally.

“What I love about each album is the opportunity to expand on what we’ve done in the past—to push myself and the band creatively, vocally and lyrically,” adds Rucker. “At the end of the day, I’m a fan of great stories and great songs. With ‘Wagon Wheel’ I loved the visual it painted and it’s a song I can truly say I look forward to performing every night. With ‘If I Told You,’ I can’t wait to share in that vulnerability with the fans from the stage night-after-night.”

KEITH URBAN’S “WASTED TIME” IS NO. 1!

Keith Urban has climbed to the top of the country singles charts with his latest hit, “Wasted Time.” The song is his  21st chart-topper on the Mediabase country chart and his 20th on Billboard.

He co-wrote the song with Greg Wells and J. Abrahart, and it was the very first song the trio had written together. “I’d never met either of these guys, and the two of them had been writing a bit together forever, and someone said you should get with them,” recalls Keith. “Long story short, we met and the very first song we wrote [on] the first day we met was ‘Wasted Time.’”

Keith has a few days off before returning to his ripCord World Tour on Saturday (July 2nd) in Gilford, New Hampshire.

KEITH URBAN CELEBRATES 10TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY BY FACETIMING HIS WIFE WITH THOUSANDS OF FANS IN BOSTON.

Keith Urban and wife Nicole Kidman were planning on spending their 10th anniversary together, even though he had a date in Boston for his ripCord World Tour. He explained to the audience what the two had planned for their anniversary.

“I said to Nic, ‘I can’t work on our anniversary, and so maybe we’ll play Boston another time.’ And she said, ‘What about I come up to Boston instead?’ I said, ‘That’s a great plan.’ So, she said, ‘I’ll come up on our anniversary, we’ll play that night. It’ll be fun, and then the next day we’ll just hang out in Boston and have a great time.’”

Nicole was set to film a movie in Australia last month, but unfortunately the production schedule for the movie was pushed back to June, thus effectively changing up the couple’s plans.

“After the gig tonight, I’m flying to Australia to celebrate my anniversary,” he told the enthusiastic crowd. Keith then took the fans on a little journey, showcasing their relationship in photos that were flashed up on the big video screens on stage of when the two first met at an event in Los Angeles, to their wedding and their happy family, including daughters Sunday and Faith.

Jon is set to perform on NBC’s Today Show July 7th.

Chris Stapleton‘s Traveller is No. 2 on the country charts, followed by Keith Urban‘s Ripcord rounding out the Top 3.

Jon Pardi (fans expectations) OC: …is about. :38
“I know they’ll go away with a good album. And they’ll learn that I like to make music that makes you feel good and my album I’m always going to try to where you can just press play and let it play and just do whatever you want and listen to it, work on your homework, wash your car, mow your lawn. I don’t know. It’s definitely a project where you can let it play and you can just let the time pass by in a good spirit and good lyrics and a good time. Hopefully they walk away with this album and say man I really want to go see that guy live. I want to see what this is about.”
