Travis Denning is serving up the ultimate break-up anthem in time for Valentine’s Day with his new track “ABBY,” available to listen today here. Written by Ashley Gorley, Matt Jenkins and Chase McGill, the track marks singer/songwriter Denning’s first outside recording. The track follows his current Top 20 single “After A Few,” that continues to ascend at country radio and has garnered over 44 million streams worldwide, as Denning continues to release music to meet fan demand.
Sitting down with PEOPLE to exclusively share more details behind “ABBY,” Denning’s new “wickedly fun good-riddance romp” takes listeners on the journey of a break up, and when posed with the question if there is someone new, the snap back is “yes, and her name is ‘ABBY.’ That’s ‘Any Body But You,’” in a lyrical anagram that has crowds singing along during Denning’s live set already.
“The minute I heard this song I knew I had to record it, because my instant reaction was ‘Man, I wish I had written that,’” shared Denning. “I feel like anyone who has gone through a breakup can relate to it in some way and wishing they had a response as bold as ’Any Body But You.’ We’ve played it out on the road live a few times and the reaction has been wild. I’m excited that more people are getting to hear this song. It’s a fun one.”
Following kicking off 2020 as direct support on Dustin Lynch’s STAY COUNTRY TOUR, Denning will join Sam Hunt this summer as a special guest on his THE SOUTHSIDE SUMMER TOUR. The tour will kick off on May 28 in Charlotte, NC at PNC Music Pavilion, with coast to coast stops through September this year.
A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, singer/songwriter Travis Denning’s current Top 20 single “After A Few” follows his Top 40 debut single “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs.” Denning has previously opened shows for Cole Swindell, Alan Jackson, LANCO, Riley Green and his first headlining “Heartbeat Of A Small Town Tour.” With over 134 million streams worldwide, Denning has been spotlighted by Billboard for his “future star power” and was selected this past year as an Opry NextStage recipient and CMA KixStart Artist, as he makes his mark within the industry. Inspired at a young age, Denning developed a love for country, pop, rock and heavy metal and started playing local bars from the age of 16, as he built a strong following from his distinctive songs and raucous guitar solos. A prolific writer with an unquestionable stage presence, Denning moved to Nashville and secured outside cuts by Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Michael Ray and Chase Rice. Denning’s newest songwriting cut includes Michael Ray’s current Top 25 single “Her World or Mine” that is continuing to climb the charts at Country radio. Luke Bryan (inspiration behind BHLHDH) OC: …emotion. :18
“Hey guys, Luke here, and the inspiration behind ‘Born Here Live Here Die Here’ is about small-town life. A lot of us out there never want to leave it and never want to leave the feeling of living in a small town, and this song does a wonderful job of capturing that emotion.”

Darius Rucker was surprised with a plaque celebrating the RIAA’s recent 8x-Platinum certification of his hit song “Wagon Wheel” during a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum yesterday, February 12. Since topping the charts for back-to-back weeks in 2013, “Wagon Wheel” has now become one of the top five best-selling Country songs of all time and Rucker is now the only solo male country act to achieve the honor of an 8x-plus multi-Platinum song in RIAA’s history.
#WagonWheel is officially 8x PLATINUM💿
— Universal Nashville (@UMGNashville) February 15, 2020
Lured under the pretense of seeing his exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Rucker was surprised when he rounded the corner to see his record label of 14+ years, UMG Nashville, holding a plaque. “What are y’all doing here?!” Rucker remarked, taking in the presence of label heads and esteemed industry guests from the RIAA gathered around his exhibit, which features the suit he wore in the “Wagon Wheel” music video alongside other memorabilia from his remarkable career. After hearing the news – and pausing to really read the plaque’s inscription – an in-awe Rucker added, “I don’t believe you. I don’t believe this! Wow, what a testament to the fans and their love of Country music.”
“Wagon Wheel,” originally released by Old Crow Medicine Show in 2004, was written by the band’s lead singer, Ketch Secor, and was based on a sketch by Bob Dylan, who is credited as a co-writer. The single was featured on Rucker’s Gold-certified, No.1 album True Believers and has since accumulated over 960 million global streams. “Wagon Wheel” also won a GRAMMY for Best Country Solo Performance at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards, the third of Rucker’s career.
“Even in my wildest dreams for ‘Wagon Wheel,’ the singer was never me or Bob,” remarked Secor upon learning of the song’s new accolade. “It could have been a lot of different people who had the big hit with it. It could have been one of those perfect-smile guys with the made-for-TV personalities. That it was instead a salt of the earth singer like Darius is something divine I’ll leave to the theologians to figure out.”
Mike Dungan, UMGN Chairman & CEO, recalls the conversation he had with Rucker when he first decided to record the song: “Darius called my cell phone one night and told me that he was in the audience for the talent show at his daughter’s high school. He said, ‘Hey man, do you know that song ‘Wagon Wheel?’ I just watched a band full of kids perform it, and it reminded me of how great that song is, and I want to cut it.’ I said, ‘you’re crazy,’ to which he said, ‘well I’m cuttin’ it! I’ll talk to you later!’ We (the label) thought that this was going to either be huge… or a disaster. He was right, everybody’s happy, life is good!”
“On behalf of RIAA, we’re so pleased to mark such an amazing accomplishment,” said Jackie Jones, Vice President of Industry Relations at the Recording Industry Association of America. “A certification of this magnitude is incredibly rare—occurring only a few times in our organization’s history. Darius, his team and the entire UMG Nashville family should be very proud of this historic moment in music.”
The Associated Press broke the news, capturing the plaque presentation surprise which can be viewed HERE.
After making their television debut on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, the Hot Country Knights deliver an explosive cover “Honky Tonkin’s What I Do Best” by Marty Stuart feat. Travis Tritt. As its lyrics epitomize the mentality behind the ’90s influenced band, the Knight’s revive the rocking classic with blended vocals accompanied by their self-styled choreography. The exclusive online performance serves as an ode to their musical heroes such as Stuart and Tritt, who is featured on the Knights debut single “Pick Her Up.” Produced and written by multi-Platinum entertainer Dierks Bentley along with co-writers Jim Beavers and Brett Beavers, the classic barnstormer now at Country radio finds Doug Douglason and Tritt trading vocals filled with “humorous lyrical content” (Billboard).

Some said this moment would never happen. But in spite of 30 wasted years and countless bad decisions, the Hot Country Knights stake a “triumphant come back of the ‘90s” (CMT). Famous for never giving up on the dream of the ‘90s, the Hot Country Knights are comprised of band leader Douglas (“Doug”) Douglason, lead bass player Trevor Travis, lead guitarist Marty Ray (“Rayro”) Roburn, keytar/fiddle player Terotej (“Terry”) Dvoraczekynski, steel guitarist Barry Van Ricky and percussionist Monte Montgomery. The Knights will embark on the 2020 ONE KNIGHT STAND TOUR when it launches April 7 in San Diego, CA, and it includes major market stops at iconic venues such as Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theater, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and what is sure to be an unforgettable night at the Talladega Superspeedway. On Thursday (February 13th), the Nashville Predators Foundation will host Hockey Has Heart Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Night in support of the cardiac research and support that takes place at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. CHD, which impacts 40,000 newborns in the United States per year, results when the heart, or blood vessels near the heart, don’t develop normally before birth.
Prior to the 7 p.m. CT matchup between the Predators and Islanders, joined by two young CHD patients, country music super star Luke Bryan will perform the National Anthem. When Luke and his wife Caroline Boyer Bryan lost their niece, Sadie Brett Boyer, to complications of CHD in 2017, they came together with Brett’s parents, Ellen and Bo Boyer, to create The Brett Boyer Foundation in her honor. Since the foundation’s inception, the Bryan and Boyer family has been committed to raising awareness and funding research surrounding CHD.
In addition to Luke’s presence on behalf of The Brett Boyer Foundation, multiple CHD non-profits will be in attendance on Thursday to promote CHD awareness and research. Bright Heart Foundation, Adult Congenital Heart Association, Haley’s Hearts, World of Broken Hearts and WubbaNub will host a mixer in the Bridgestone Arena meeting rooms for over 200 heart warriors and their families who will be at the game. WubbaNub Founder & CEO Carla Schneider will be in attendance and was instrumental in collaborating with the Preds to create the special Preds CHD Bear. Additionally, representatives from each organization will be on site to further support the CHD families and educate Preds fans.
As the guests of honor that evening, the young CHD patients and their families will receive the star treatment on Thursday. Following the mixer, the kids will have the opportunity to high five the team as they take the ice, ring the “Mayor of Smashville” siren and even enjoy all the action from Pekka Rinne‘s 365 Fund suite or Matt Duchene‘s Hockey Tonk.
To support the CHD fundraising efforts just in time for Valentine’s Day, fans are invited to stop by the Predators Foundation area (outside of Section 106/107) or the team store to purchase an adorable Preds WubbaNub pacifier (0-6 months) for $20. The WubbaNub is also available online. All proceeds will benefit CHD research and support at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Additionally, limited CHD t-shirts will be available for purchase. Donations will also be accepted.
