KACEY MUSGRAVES’ ‘KEEP IT TO YOURSELF’ WAS A DIFFICULT SONG TO WRITE. (AUDIO)

Kacey Musgraves has hit the airwaves with her latest single, “Keep It To Yourself,” from her album, Same Trailer Different Park. She says the song was a bit difficult to write.

“I was going through a bit of a personal down moment and a break-up, and self- discipline has never been something that I’ve been very good at. So, when this song talks about keeping it to yourself, it’s just about knowing and wanting to know how that person feels about you like in a situation, but just knowing that it’s not good for you anymore and that you literally have to be the strong person and say, “Don’t tell me, because it’s just going to rope me back in,’” says Kacey. “It’s going to create that cycle again, I feel like that’s something that a lot of people go through and it’s about getting over that hump; that hard part where you’re just going to die because this person’s not there anymore so literally you just have to be like, ‘If you have feelings for me, just put them on a shelf,’ like I don’t want to hear about them.”

Kacey, who is in Los Angeles to tape the latest installment of CMT Crossroads with Katy Perry, is featured in Elle magazine’s Women in Music issue, alongside Angel Haze, Lily Allen, Neneh Cherry, Ariana Grande and Cher, among others.

Kacey Musgraves (Keep It To Yourself) OC: …have to do. :58
“‘Keep It To Yourself’ is a song that was kind of hard to write. I was going through a bit of a personal down moment and a break-up, and self- discipline has never been something that I’ve been very good at. So when this song talks about keeping it to yourself, it’s just about knowing and wanting to know how that person feels about you like in a situation, but just knowing that it’s not good for you anymore and that you literally have to be the strong person and say, “Don’t tell me, because it’s just going to rope me back in.’ It’s going to create that cycle again, I feel like that’s something that a lot of people go through and it’s about getting over that hump; that hard part where you’re just going to die because this person’s not there anymore so literally you just have to be like, ‘If you have feelings for me, just put them on a shelf,’ like I don’t want to hear about them. It’s hard. It’s about feeling comfortable too. Nobody wants to feel naked or uncomfortable, and removing yourself out of situation that you know is probably not right is really hard, but it’s something that you just have to do.”

BILLY CURRINGTON GOES BACK TO HIS YOUNGER YEARS WITH ‘WE ARE TONIGHT.’ (AUDIO)

Billy Currington is making the touring season count with his own headlining We Are Tonight trek, as well as taking up residency with Lady Antebellum on their Take Me Downtown Tour. One of the staples of his setlist is his latest single and title track of his current album, “We Are Tonight,” which he says reminds him of his summers growing up.

“Just a young vibe, the innocence, the Friday nights, and it made me think of football games and the summer rolling down the window, driving down the beach boulevard,” says Billy. “Everything that the song states, took me back to my younger years.”

Billy will be in Dothan, Alabama Thursday (April 24th), Raleigh, North Carolina April 25th and Charlotte, North Carolina April 26th.

“Just a young vibe, the innocence, the Friday nights, and it made me think of football games and the summer rolling down the window, driving down the beach boulevard, everything that the song states took me back to my younger years. Also, it’s really amped-up energy, amped-up production in that song, and I thought, ‘Man, this would be great, ‘cause I would love for something like this to be a single ‘cause I definitely want to play it in the arenas and football stadiums.’ And that song would [be] perfect for it.”

ERIC CHURCH WILL RELEASE A VINYL VERSION OF HIS ALBUM, ‘THE OUTSIDERS,’ FOR RECORD STORE DAY.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – April 17, 2014 – EMI Records Nashville recording artist Eric Church will release a double gatefold vinyl version of his album The Outsiders on Saturday, April 19th, in recognition of National Record Store Day. The vinyl package will also include an exclusive album poster. The Outsiders originally debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and the Billboard Top Country Albums chart when it was released earlier this year in February. The album features his top-five-and-rising hit “Give Me Back My Hometown,” as well as the raucous debut title track. This is Church’s second vinyl project in honor of National Record Store Day; last year, he released a vinyl version of his live album, Caught in the Act: Live

The Outsiders (vinyl version) track listing:

Side 1

1.  “The Outsiders”

2.  “A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young”

3.  “Cold One”

4.  “Roller Coaster Ride”

Side 2

1.  “Talladega”

2.  “Broke Record”

3.  “Like a Wrecking Ball”

4.  “That’s Damn Rock & Roll”

Side 3

2.  “Devil, Devil (Prelude: Princess of Darkness)”

Side 4

1.  “Give Me Back My Hometown”

2.  “The Joint”

3.  “The Outsiders (Extended Version)” – bonus track

4.  “Come Together” – bonus track

Entertainment Weekly called The Outsiders “the still-rising star’s most brazen, brilliant disc yet, and the first great album of this year.” “ … this is the kind of record critics imagine Kanye keeps making: a freakish statement of confidence and power from an artist in full command of his gifts,” said Spin Magazine, before continuing, “Church can turn from consummate studio pro to unruly rebel rouser on a midnight-train-whine-thin dime. Nashville has the deepest grab-bag in contemporary pop right now, but nothing else comes together like Eric Church in the wild.” People just named The Outsiders one of 2014’s Ten Best Albums of the Year (so far).

Church recently announced the launch of The Outsiders World Tour, beginning on Sept. 11 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Special guest for the entire tour is Dwight Yoakam, with Brothers Osborne, Brandy Clark, and Halestorm alternating as opening act. The first tour dates will go on sale this Friday, Apr. 18, with more on-sale dates to be announced soon. For tour updates and more information or to purchase The Outsiders on vinyl, visit www.EricChurch.com.

AUDIO: Eric Church recorded his first three albums in producer Jay Joyce’s basement, so he was a little skeptical when Jay bought an old church in East Nashville and transformed it into a recording studio, which is where he recorded The Outsiders.

Eric Church (working in producer’s new studio) OC: …the process. :41
“I was nervous about it because there was so much energy in his house; that’s where we started, and it was tough for me until I walked in here. What I realized is that this room provided a new start, a new environment, and not that there was a target, but there was a lot of expectation after the success of Chief. And what this room really allowed me to do, it was definitely a turning of the page. It was new scenery, it was new energy, it was a new situation. I got more out of it maybe than anybody, because I was able to feel that difference between what that record was and what this record is, and I think it really helped. At least mentally for me, it really helped the process.”

GEORGE STRAIT GETTING READY TO WRAP UP ‘THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY TOUR.’ (AUDIO)

George Strait, who just picked up the ACM Award for Entertainer of the Year, says he made the right decision when he chose not to tour anymore after The Cowboy Rides Away Tour. While he’ll perform a few shows here and there, he says he won’t launch another massive tour after he wraps up his current trek at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with an all-star lineup of Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Vince Gill, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, Lee Ann Womack and others.

It’s been a great two years of touring. We probably got about 10 more things to do this year, and then we’re done for a while,” says King George. “I’ll probably take a year off and maybe do a record, and then I’m gonna do a few dates after that…here and there.”

George, who is currently climbing the charts with his latest single, “I Got a Car,” will perform in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday (April 18th) and Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday (April 19th).
