LITTLE BIG TOWN CELEBRATES RECENT NO. 1 SUCCESS. (AUDIO)

The members of Little Big Town celebrated the number-one success of their recent chart-topper, “Tornado,” with a party in Nashville on Monday night (May 6th). The band, along with songwriters Natalie Hemby and Delta Maid, received awards, plaques and accolades for their success in front of an audience of friends, family and industry executives.

“We’ve never had two number-ones before. We like it,” says LBT’s Karen Fairchild. “It’s been completely a joy; it’s like been amazing, and we hope it keeps going, ’cause we like it.”

AUDIO: Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet and Karen Fairchild reveal their feelings about having a second number-one.

LBT (Tornado #1) OC: …like it. :15
PHILLIP: “Unreal! We’ve never felt this before. This feels amazing.” KAREN: “Yeah, we’ve never had two number-ones before. We like it. It’s been completely a joy; it’s like been amazing, and we hope it keeps going, ’cause we like it.”

MOTHER’S DAY: Alan, Darius, Dierks, Church, Paslay, Josh Kelley, Keith, Charles Kelley, Lauren, Little Big Town, Randy, Shania (audio)

Mother’s Day is an annual holiday celebrated on the second Sunday each May. Most, if not all, of your favorite country artists will be honoring their moms and/or wives, or rejoicing over the fact that they are mothers on Sunday (May 12th). Check out Mother’s Day memories and moments from our artists, including Alan Jackson, Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Lady A, Lauren Alaina, Little Big Town and Shania Twain, among many others.

AUDIO: Alan Jackson’s wife Denise wrote a book, It’s All About Him: Finding The Love Of My Life, that chronicled the couple’s relationship and marriage. It was a huge success, debuting at number-one on The New York Times Best-Sellers List when it was released several years ago. Alan believes her accomplishment set a really good example for their three daughters, showing that a mom can do things outside of the household, too.

AJ (Mother’s Day) OC: …to see that. :30
“I think it’s been great for them to see her do something out there that’s, again, not typical for a parent at all. But she’s a great role model for them anyway and always has been, whether she did anything professionally or not. I could see it in their eyes, you know, that they were surprised — very surprised, and also, I could see them with interest looking at her thinking it was special for her to do that. So, I think it was a very good thing for the kids to see that.”

Audio / Darius Rucker (Mother's Day)

AUDIO: Darius Rucker talks not disappointing his beloved mother, who passed away a few years ago.

Darius Rucker (Mother’s Day) OC: …killed me. :17
“I think that’s the main reason I am how I am…an innate fear of disappointing my mom.  My mom’s not even alive, and I have a fear of her looking down from heaven and going, ‘Man I’m just disappointed in my son.’ She could have said anything in the world to me, but if she would have said, ‘Son, you just disappointed me,’ That would have killed me. It would have killed me.”

Audio / Darius Rucker (wife on Mother's Day)

Download
AUDIO: Darius Rucker says the best thing he can give his wife on Mother’s Day is his time…and to take the kids off her hands for a little while.

Darius Rucker (wife on Mother’s Day) OC: …try to do. :20
“I think the best Mother’s Day gift my wife would say I’ve given her is to let her not have to deal with her kids. [laughs] But, I’m not really a good gift-giver. I’m not gonna lie. And my wife and I have a deal that if you want it, just get it, so when it’s time to buy gifts, it’s hard to do. But, I think my time is the best thing I can give to my family, because I’m on the road so much. So, that’s what I try to do.”

Audio / Dierks (Mother's Day)

Download
AUDIO: Dierks Bentley talks about Mother’s Day in regards to his wife, Cassie.

Dierks (Mother’s Day) OC: …something great. :23
“When it’s your actual mom, you know, there’s some slack there, but when with your wife – any touring husband, anyone who tours who has kids and a wife back home, it’s tough man. It’s a lot of work. So, I definitely need to step up to think of something great to do this Sunday, for sure. But nothing yet. As usual, I’ll probably get something last minute and hopefully, it’ll be great, though. She deserves something great.”

Audio / Eric Church (apology to mom)

Download
AUDIO: Eric Church says he’s learned quite a bit from his mom.

Eric Church (Mother’s Day) OC: …as a man. :57
“My mom, even though my dad won’t like this, my mom is by far the toughest person that I’ve met. She’s tough. One of those people that’s been through a lot in her life, adversity wise and never complains, always really resilient with anything that’s happened to her. And it’s just that attitude, the positive attitude, regardless of what has happened that I think is the one thing that I got from her. With career, she’s always been a person that’s been really positive through times that I couldn’t find a positive streak, [laughs] and she was always really positive, and very much believes in tough it out, keep working hard, and that’s her motto with stuff like that. I’ve always been impressed with that stuff. Then musically, she’s where I get my talent from, musically. She sings great, always has, her mom sang great. I owe my musical chops to her. And she still sings some. So, career-wise, I owe her everything. And just in life-wise she’s given me a lot of the qualities that it has taken for me to get me where I am. Not only as a musician, but as a man.”

Audio / Eric Paslay (Mother's Day)

Download
AUDIO: Eric Church, who probably was a little bit of a handful when he was a kid, says he probably has a lot to apologize to his mother for when he was younger.

Eric Church (apology to mom) OC: …I’m sorry. [laughs] :15
“Probably too much [laughs]. If I’ve gotten away with it this long I’m not about to…I’m not letting it out now I’ve made it. The guilt is even gone now, I’m good [laughs]. So probably, but I’m not going to admit any of it. I’ll say I’m sorry, just blanket I’m sorry [laughs].”

Audio / Josh Kelley (Mom)

Download
AUDIO: Eric Paslay talks about his mother.

Eric Paslay (Mother’s Day) OC: …it’s good. :21
“I wanna thank my mom for giving me faith, laughter and pride in the family I came from. She’d be the fun Mom, j7ust goofing off in the sprinklers outside or we’d go out and play in the rain and all that stuff growing up. She’s always good to be around; always happy, and it’s good.”

Audio / Keith Urban (wife Nicole)

AUDIO: Josh Kelley says he was influenced musically by his mom (who is also the mother of Lady A’s Charles Kelley).

Josh Kelley (Mom) OC: …big influence. :31
“My mom was a majorette in college and high school. She learned how to play the drums. When we were kids, me and Charles were making drums out of pots and pans and stuff. She was like, ‘Well, it looks like they’ll probably get into this, so she took us to the music store and bought us a drum set and taught us how to play. I think that actually did make us better musicians. If you’re a good drummer, it makes you better at everything else. It makes you a better singer, a better guitar player, better piano player, because you do everything more percussively, and you deliver everything more percussively. I think it’s easier for your songs to relate, if the delivery also relates. She was a big influence.”

AUDIO: Keith Urban explains his wife, Nicole – who is also the mother of his two daughters – was open to love when they were dating.

Keith Urban (wife Nicole) OC: …beautiful thing. :30
“Early on, I asked my wife when we were dating, I asked her one time, I said, ‘How is your heart?’ And she said, ‘It’s open.’ I was just, oh, a beautiful, a beautiful thing, to not only to hear, but to be able to say. And I never thought it, and it made me ask myself, ‘Wow, is my heart open? Is it really? I think it is, but maybe it’s not, maybe not as much as it could be.’ And that’s a beautiful thing.”

AUDIO: With Mother’s Day on Sunday, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley explains he and his brother, Josh, owe their mother a lot for all of their childhood antics.

Lady Antebellum (Charles Kelley-Mother) OC: …playing music. :23
“We were honestly, at times, pretty hard to handle, both of us. We used to play our music loud up above on the second floor [of the house], bang on the drums and the guitar. And my mom’s just one of those people, she’ll do anything for her family and she sacrificed a lot for us boys. Anytime we needed something, she made it happen. And so, we owe her a lot. She’s definitely the reason we’re playing music.”

Don’t forget if you order the Teleflora Celebrate Mom Bouquet online, you’ll receive a free digital download of Lady A’s number-one song, “Downtown.”

AUDIO: Lauren Alaina says she can count on her mom for just about everything.

Lauren Alaina (Mom) OC: …same for her. :19
“I honestly would not be able to do it without my mom. I get overwhelmed sometimes, and if she wasn’t there to comfort me or tell me, ‘Look just realize what you’ve got going for you,’ I’d be up the creek [without a paddle]. She’s got my back. My mom would walk through a fire pit for me, and I’d do the same for her.”

AUDIO: Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman says she always dreamed of being a mother…and her dream came true a few years ago when she gave birth to her daughter, Daisy.

LBT (Mother’s Day) OC: …for my mother. :34
“Being a mother is a life-long dream for me. When I was a kid, that’s what I wanted to be is a mama. It took a long time. I wasn’t ever sure that I would be, but I am now, and it’s the greatest gift of my life. And as I’m a mother now, I see what my mother gave up and her sacrifices and her love and how she made us the most important thing in her life, and that’s what I strive to do for my little girl. It’s the most important job I have, and it’s the most responsibility that I have, and I try to live up to a great example that I had for my mother.”

AUDIO: Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild says being a mother to Elijah Dylan Westbrook is the best feeling in the world.

LBT (Mother’s Day-Karen) OC: …every day. :23
“There isn’t anything that means more to me than sitting on the bench and eating a grilled cheese sandwich with this little guy who calls me Mama. There isn’t anything better than that. He’s just a little miracle. I went from dreaming about him to eating grilled cheese sandwiches and ketchup with him, and I could never have dreamed this up – how good it could be, and it just gets better every day.”

AUDIO: Randy Montana recalls making breakfast for his mother on Mother’s Day morning.

Randy Montana (Mother’s Day) OC: …Mother’s Day morning. :22
“My mom is the best mom in the whole entire world. I remember when we were growing up, my dad would wake us up early on a Sunday morning before church, and my mom’s the lightest sleeper in the world, so we’d have to be really quiet in the kitchen. We would’ve all made cards the night before, and we’d always make her breakfast in bed and all bring it in there together. It was fun. That was our Mother’s Day morning.”

[[15]]AUDIO: Shania Twain says it’s such a joy to be a parent.

Shania Twain (joy to be a parent) OC: …means everything. :14
“It’s such a joy to be a parent. So, I relate to all the mums out there who are getting all their love and appreciation from their kids, and I hope, when you’re a kid, a child of somebody, show your mum you love her, because it means everything.”

LADY ANTEBELLUM FANS ARE ‘GOLDEN’ WITH NEW MUSIC. (AUDIO)

Lady Antebellum’s fourth studio album, Golden, hits stores and online digital retailers tomorrow (May 7th), and the band hope fans will relate to it as much as they do. “I think we chose the songs and wrote the songs we did, because we’ve either lived them or really related to them and there’s a lot of subject matter on this record too,” says Lady A’s Hillary Scott. “There’s songs on there that’ll make you think, there’s songs on there that’ll make you cry, there’s songs on there that make you wanna go out downtown with your friends. It’s just a very real human album, I mean, for lack of a better word. It’s all about just what you want to experience as a human being and love and the emotions and the fun memories you make and reflecting back on memories you’ve made.”

Check out Lady A’s performances Tuesday on ABC’s Good Morning America and the syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show.

LADY ANTEBELLUM READIES ‘GOLDEN’ FOR RELEASE ON TUESDAY. (AUDIO)

Lady Antebellum arrive in stores with their brand new album, Golden, on Tuesday (May 7th). The band began putting together the album while they were on their first arena headlining tour, making writing and recording demos a part of their daily tour schedule. It helped to create an album full of songs that represents where they are in their career, and takes a look at where they’ve been, as well. “It’s like you can really see kind of what we’ve been through throughout our career as a band,” says Hillary Scott. “Whenever you go back and listen to every record, from the very first one to when you hear this one, it’s a journey.”

Lady A’s Charles Kelley says the album actually takes them back to the beginning. “Our evolution on this record was actually stripping it back down to the basics of how we started, and the basics of the song, and not throw in too many overdubs,” he explains. “We didn’t have any string sections on this record, which is a first for us. And so, I think it’s definitely all about the song and not trying to polish it up.”

Release day for Golden will begin with appearances on Good Morning America and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and end with an exclusive and intimate release show at New York City’s newest hot spot The McKittrick Hotel for the Lady Antebellum GOLDEN Release Show presented by Citi. The VIP event will give a select number of fans the first preview of songs off the new album and a donation will be made to Musicians on Call On behalf of the group’s charity initiative LadyAID. The next day, Lady A will begin their take-over on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and set up residency at 30 Rock with interviews and performances on both Wednesday (5/8) and Thursday (5/9) nights’ shows. The following week, Lady A will jet to the West Coast for an appearance on Chelsea Lately (5/13) and a performance on NBC’s The Voice (5/14) before continuing on to Toronto for more media appearances and events.

Lady A (Golden represents their lives) OC: …a journey. :19
“It represents where we are in our life. We’re all thankfully, not that we don’t have our rough days, but are in really great places, and so that journey, it’s like you can really see kind of what we’ve been through throughout our career as a band. Like whenever you go back and listen to every record, from the very first one to when you hear this one, it’s a journey.”

GEORGE STRAIT ‘GIVES IT ALL HE’S GOT’ WITH HIS LATEST SINGLE. (AUDIO)

George Strait is getting closer to scoring his 60th number-one single with “Give It All We Got Tonight,” a song that he wasn’t sure he would be able to fully capture the song. “The first time I heard it I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s a great song,” says George. “[It’s] a little different for me, you know, a little risqué kinda.’ I’m thinking, ‘I don’t know if I can pull this off or not.’”

After he spoke with a member of his team who assured the music icon he could do it (EDITOR’S NOTE: He could sing the contents of a cereal box and make it a hit.], George recorded it and just fell in love with it. “It’s a little different, the melody’s a little different, great lyrics,” he says. “It’s kinda about parking, [laughs] which I’ve done a few times back in the early days. [laughs]”

“Give It All We Got Tonight” is the first single from George’s forthcoming album, Love is Everything.

AUDIO: George Strait talks about his current single, “Give It All We Got Tonight,” the first release from his forthcoming album, Love is Everything.

George Strait (Give It All We Got Tonight) OC: …early days. [laughs]
“I hadn’t done any recording in quite a while, and so I really didn’t have anything to put out, but I was trying to find a few songs just to go in and cut. So, I was listening to stuff constantly, every day. The first time I heard it I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s a great song. [It’s] a little different for me, you know, a little risqué kinda.’ I’m thinking, ‘I don’t know if I can pull this off or not.’ But, I talked with [UMG’s] Brian [Wright] a little bit about it, and he said, ‘Sure you can. You can do it.’ I said, ‘Alright. We’ll try it.’ So, we did, and I just love it. I mean, it’s, like I said, it’s a little different, the melody’s a little different, great lyrics. It’s kinda about parking, [laughs] which I’ve done a few times back in the early days. [laughs]”
