In this episode of Urban Developments, Keith Urban and his band are in the studio for the recording of ‘For You’ for the Act of Valor film.

Nashville, TN – Feb. 27, 2012 – Award-winning singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley’s anthemic title track and current single “Home” is resonating with fans across the border as it climbs into the No. one spot on Canada’s Mediabase Country Chart this week. Though inspired by domestic struggles, the track’s relatable global message of strife, strength and optimism is unifying fans everywhere.

Alan Jackson broke the all-time attendance record for the San Antonio Rodeo Thursday night with nearly 17-thousand people at his show. It’s the largest crowd ever at the Rodeo!!

Alan performed his latest hit single, “So You Don’t Have to Love Me Anymore,” from his forthcoming album, due out later this year.

“You just can’t say enough about country music fans — at least mine, anyway. I’ve had fans that have to have a walker to get to the show…and some that have to have their mama carry ‘em there! I’ve got this wide range of fans. There’ll be doctors and farmers, you know? It’s just amazing how diverse the people are when I’m out there singing. One minute I feel like I’m supposed to be singing a gospel song for this lady and a drinking song for this man, and I just can’t…it’s kinda confusing! But…it works.”

Nashville, TN – Feb. 24, 2012 – Multi-Platinum singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley wrapped the Canadian leg of his 2012 Country & Cold Cans Tour last night in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shortly after crossing the border on his return ‘home’ to the U.S., Bentley’s tour bus “Old Goldie” marked its one millionth mile.

“Goldie has been my home on the road since I put out my very first single,” said Bentley. “A lot of memories have been made traveling across the country in Goldie, and I’ve been able to see every city and town three or four times.  If you look at my guitar or my boots or my truck, you know that I love old things.  I hope she makes it another million!”

Ping Pong is an intense sport and the entire Lady A crew is very invested in the game while out on the road. After selling out the San Antonio Rodeo last weekend, there was a serious ping pong showdown backstage.

Keith Urban is in awe of the real-life Navy SEALS who are featured and portrayed in the film, Act of Valor, which opens nationwide on Friday (February 24th). Keith, who wrote and recorded “For You” for the movieâ��s soundtrack, feels people who see it will have a whole new respect for the SEALS. â��I think this film, particularly, when people see it will have a new insight as to what they do,â�� he says. â��The diversity, separate to their sacrifices and their honor â�� separate to that â�� their actual physical human skills are just extraordinary.

I’d like to say it’s just mine and my family’s tiny little way of saying thank you for what they do. It’s really extraordinary what they do, and I think this film, particularly, when people see it will have a new insight as to what they do. Keith Urban’s “You Gonna Fly” is spending its second week at No. 1 on both the Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Billboard country singles charts. “You Gonna Fly” is the singer’s 14th No. 1 hit, and his first multi-week No. 1 since 2009’s “Sweet Thing.” While Keith has enjoyed several chart-toppers, he says it’s always a great feeling to have a single go No. 1. “It’s an important moment,” he explains. “I’ve been fortunate to have a few of them, but it doesn’t diminish the excitement that I feel when they call me and say that the song’s gone No. 1.”

Lady Antebellum‘s Own the Night returns to the top of the Billboard Country Album chart this week. The collection sold nearly 37,000 copies to retake the top spot on the country chart and climb to No. 7 overall. The band has already scored two No. 1 songs — “Just a Kiss” and “We Owned the Night” — from the album, and their latest hit, “Dancin’ Away With My Heart,” is inside the Top 10 on the country singles charts.

CK: “That’s probably one of my favorites on the record, for sure. I think that was one too we knew…A lot of times you write songs and you can’t really tell until after a year or so writing which ones you’ll end up narrowing down for a record. But we knew after we wrote that, we were like, ‘This is going to be on the record.’ This is … I hope that’s a single. It’s definitely one of my favorites off the record. We wrote that with Josh Kear, who we wrote ‘Need You Now’ with and my favorite lyric of that is, ‘For me, you’ll always be 18 and beautiful.’ It’s like thinking about back at different people that have had an impression on my life and stuff and relationships and that first dance or whatever it may be, and you wonder what they’re doing. You picture them in your head as that person. So, for you, they’ll always look like that in your head, and they’ll be that person.”

Keith Urban is currently in Australia working as one of four vocal coaches on the nation’s version of America’s hit show, The Voice. When he was initially approached to take part in the show, he turned it down because of the time commitment. But he was able to work with the show’s producers to work it in his schedule. He, along with Seal, Joel Madden and Delta Goodrem, will by vying for his own team of singers he will mentor. He said the first thing that attracted him to the show were the blind auditions. “We live in such a visual age, you know, but we don’t buy videos, we buy records,” says Keith. “So what does it matter what an artist looks like? How about how they sound? How does their voice affect me? And how does that song affect me? I love that this show is the first one that I’ve ever seen that basically go on just the sound of the voice first, and then we run with other things after that.” 

Even though he is Down Under, he made an “appearance” during the annual Country Radio Seminar’s Country DJ Hall of Fame. He videotaped a performance of Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman” honoring the legendary performer, who received the CRB Career Achievement Award.
