Jon Pardi had a really good time recording “Getting Over Him” with pal Lauren Alaina. He says the song, written by Lauren, Emily Weisband and Paul DiGiovanni, was a blast and feels like they should have some shots.

The pair first sang together when they hosted the ACM Honors show a few years ago and realized they sounded really good together. Since then, they recorded a pair of duets — “Don’t Blame It On Whiskey” on Jon’s Heartache Medication album and “Getting Over Him” on Lauren’s new album, Sitting Pretty On Top Of The World.

“I loved the song. I loved the attitude of it. I love the aspect of girls going out and having a good time and saying basically like, ‘Whatever. This is what it is. We’re gonna have a good time and I’ll see you when I see you,’ basically. It’s a fun thing,” says Jon. “I thought it was a great song for Lauren and to be a part of it was awesome. So, this is our second duet together. It all kinda started from the first ACM honors when we first sang together, like we’re kind of good at singing (LAUREN: “singing together.” Laughs) and also making people laugh and messing up names. But that’s what kind of sparked it on top of our long friendship. But, I think this one’s a lot of fun, ‘cause our other duet ‘Don’t Blame It On Whiskey’ is awesome, but it’s very chill where this is like, ‘Let’s do some shots!’”

Jon is currently sitting around Top 15 on the country charts with his latest single, “Tequila Little Time.”
