CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S “LOVE WINS” NEARS THE TOP 10.

Carrie Underwood is nearing the Top 10 on the country charts with her latest smash, “Love Wins,” and the soaring notes at the end feature a choir made up of her, songwriters Brett James and Dave Barnes, as well as producer-writer David Garcia and vocalists Perry Coleman, Vicky Hampton and Wendy Moten and some pretty amazing strings.

Carrie says it “felt right to have a choir” on “Love Wins.” “There’s something that’s heavenly about it and how it all comes out and you’re like, ‘Ahhhhh,’” she says. “There’s just something that makes my heart jump when I hear this. Yeah, a choir just felt right.”

Carrie, who is nominated for ACM Female Artist of the Year, is set to launch her Cry Pretty Tour 360 May 1st in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“Musically with this song, just the more it was like building, it just felt so right to have a choir on it. There’s something, and you can overdo it for sure, and you can needlessly put a choir on a song, but…there’s something that’s heavenly about it and how it all comes out and you’re like, ‘Ahhhhh.’ There’s just something that makes my heart jump when I hear this. Yeah, a choir just felt right.”

ADAM HAMBRICK PENS NEW SONG “LOOKING OUT FOR ME” FOR THE NEW BREAKTHROUGH FILM SOUNDTRACK.

Adam Hambrick is featured on the star-studded soundtrack for the new film, Breakthrough, which includes music from and inspired by the highly-anticipated motion picture. He saw the film and only had a few days to come up with a concept, write and record the song and submit it to the film’s producers. He even finished up the song during some adverse conditions.

“We were doing some radio shows and we were doing some out of town stuff, so I was, it was very go, go, and I didn’t have a lot of time. I spent about three hours one afternoon in my office in Nashville coming up with concepts and kind of sifting through ideas, and then the deadline was coming up to submit the song if I wanted to be a part of the soundtrack,” says Adam. “And so, I was running out of time. I was in Minneapolis in the middle of a snowstorm, and I Ubered in the middle of a snowstorm to the guitar store, it was a place called Twin Town Guitar, a really cool little guitar shop in Minneapolis. I picked up an old Gibson in there, and I just went in the back to one of their amp rooms and I just didn’t come out until I finished the song, and it came out super fast too, because I finished the song that afternoon in Minneapolis; Two days later, I recorded it with my producer Andrew DeRoberts, and then another three days later it was mixed and mastered. And so, we turned the song around really fast, but it still felt natural. It didn’t feel like it was rushed. It felt like it was just sort of supposed to happen.”

Adam, who is performing during the C2C Festival in the UK this weekend, is currently making his way up the country charts with “Rockin’ All Night Long.”

Audio / Adam Hambrick talks about the quick process it took him to write and record “Looking Out for Me,” which will appear of the soundtrack for the new film, Breakthrough.

ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH
BREAKTHROUGH is based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. When Joyce Smith’s adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction. From producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven) and adapted for the screen by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) from Joyce Smith’s own book, BREAKTHROUGH, directed by Roxann Dawson, is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.

JOSH TURNER’S MUSICAL INFLUENCE AND VINYL COLLECTION STARTED WITH HIS GRANNY.

Josh Turner’s I Serve a Savior is being released on vinyl tomorrow (March 8th), and part of his love for actual records stems from his grandmother’s collection.

“My first recollections of vinyl records actually came from when I was really, really young when my daddy’s mama would babysit me. I called her Granny, and she had a huge record collection in her house, and most of her records were either southern gospel or bluegrass or country, a lot of the Opry stars,” recalls Josh. “I remember her having records from Roy Acuff and Ernest Tubb and Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings and the Osborne Brothers and the Stanley Brothers and there’s just all the southern gospel quartets that were out back in those days. I acquired a good many of those records, I’m proud to say.”

When he was a college student in Nashville, he discovered a rare find in a local antique store. “One of the coolest finds that I made there in Nashville was actually the Johnny Cash Ring of Fire record,” says Josh. “When I brought it home and opened it up, I realized that Johnny Cash had actually taken a ballpoint pen and actually signed the label on it, which was pretty cool.”

Josh returns to Nashville’s historic Grand Ole Opry House for an Opry performance and in-store signing on Friday.

Audio / Josh Turner says his grandmother's vinyl collection is responsible for his musical foundation.

I acquired a good many of those records, I’m proud to say, but she always had some kind of music like that going in her house, and it was just that rootsy, earthy, Americana style, just real traditional country music, bluegrass, gospel kind of music, and that’s kind of where my foundation was laid musically.”

Audio / Josh Turner recalls a great vinyl record find in a Nashville antique store and talks about how many records are in his collection.

“Even when I moved to Nashville and started going to Belmont as a college student, I would go around to antique stores there in Nashville and one of the coolest finds that I made there in Nashville was actually the Johnny Cash Ring of Fire record. When I brought it home and opened it up, I realized that Johnny Cash had actually taken a ballpoint pen and actually signed the label on it, which was pretty cool. But as far as a number of how many that is in my personal collection – if I had to take a guess – I’d probably say 2, 300 maybe. I don’t think it’s any more than that, but yeah, I have quite a few [laughs] that I’ve collected over the years.”

CLARE DUNN TAKES TO THE BIG STAGES IN THE LONE STAR STATE; READIES FOR 2019 CMT NEXT WOMEN OF COUNTRY TOUR.

MCA/Universal Nashville recording artist Clare Dunn made a splash at two high-profile events over the last two weeks. The artist, dubbed “absolutely magnetic” by Rolling Stone, delivered a powerful halftime performance during the Dallas Mavericks’ Country Night, presented by Budweiser, on February 22nd.  The CMT Next Women of Country alum — who joins Cassadee Pope and Hannah Ellis on the road next month — performed a four-song set at American Airlines Center, bringing the crowd to its feet in applause as she closed.

Cassadee Pope, Clare’s 2019 CMT Next Women of Country Tour-mate says, “Clare Dunn is just phenomenal and has been really grinding it out over the last few years. I’ve always looked at her as such a hard working woman in music, so I’m really excited to go out on the road with her and see her in action.”

A passionate live performer (lauded by The Boston Globe for her “big voice and serious guitar prowess”), Clare followed that arena standing ovation with a performance she’s dreamed of: a spot on the stage of RFD-TV’s The American — the world’s richest one-day rodeo — before an audience of nearly 30K.

“I watched the very first American a couple years ago on TV, while on the phone to my sister, like it was a Super Bowl game. I think the idea of allowing ‘unknown’ and underdog western athletes to compete on one of the biggest stages in rodeo is really cool. I think it’s encouraging for anyone out there wanting to get into the sport — you have a chance if you have the determination.”

RFD-TV’s The American is an annual rodeo event held each year at Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. The American is now “the world’s richest weekend in Western Sports” and pays out $2.35 million through a series of qualifiers, The Semi-Finals, and the final event: RFD-TV’s The American. The event unites the top athletes in the world from the PRCA and pits them against underdogs who advance from The American Semi-Finals, together to battle for the biggest single paycheck of their lives.

“Being a part of the Cavender’s event this weekend was so cool for me. I’ve shopped at Cavender’s since I was little so to have done an event with them before the rodeo was surreal – they’re fantastic folks. Then to step on the American stage before 30k rodeo fans, was absolutely a blast!!! I loved every second of it and it was just an honor to play in front of all those hardworking people.”

Prior to her Sunday, March 3 performance, Clare was a special guest at Cavender’s “Kickoff for The American” party at the Cavender’s Stock Yards store (Saturday, March 2). The event hosted top western vendors, media and fashion influencers from around the country. Clare performed an acoustic set and even had a duet partner — 3-year-old Lydia, the daughter of Rodeo Athlete Blake Knowles and wife Whitney.
