Keith Urban’s wife, Nicole Kidman, is an extraordinary actress and has won numerous awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actress in The Hours. This year, she’s up for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie for her role as “Celeste” in HBO’s Big Little Lies. What’s even more remarkable is she helped make the nominated series actually happen, which impressed her husband even more.
“Everything about it was done with such a raw authenticity. It was extraordinary work and, for me, among some of Nic’s finest work ever,” Keith tells Toronto’s Metro News. “What I love especially is it was all them, it was all the girls that made this happen. This wasn’t a project that got brought to Nic or Reese (Witherspoon). This was them — Reese — reading the book, Nic getting on a plane and flying to Australia to meet (author) Liane Moriarty and seeing if they can get their support in securing the rights in getting it made into a series.”
Nicole’s role as a lawyer caught in an abusive marriage was very emotionally draining on her, but by being a loving husband, Keith was there to comfort and support her and help her get through those difficult scenes.
“Nic is an accessor more than an actor, meaning that, for me, she accesses everything that you’re seeing or feeling on camera. If she’s getting tossed around or she’s being traumatized, she’s really feeling it. It’s legit,” he says. “Those scenes were pretty heavy. She would call me after a day of shooting and be just really shaken. I could hear it in her voice. Luckily, we’re both artists and I get the passion and commitment in her life, in storytelling.”
Nicole is currently in the process of filming Aquaman, in which she plays Queen Atlanna. The movie also stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Willem Dafoe.
Keith, who just scored his latest No. 1 single “The Fighter” last week, is set to perform for fans North of the border beginning August 11th with shows in Ontario, Quebec and Montreal.
Billy Currington scores a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart with “Do I Make You Wanna,” which also climbed into the top spot on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase country chart. The Georgia native said he just had to record the song, which he listened to on repeat several times.
“It just felt good. The lyrical content is written so perfect,” says Billy. “It’s a question. ‘Do I make you wanna dance real slow/do I make you wanna go fly down a two-lane road/am I that guy/am I the one that’s making you happy ‘cause I wanna know/do I make you wanna.’ It just spoke to me. I became a big fan. I listened to it over and over, so I had to record it.”
Billy is set to perform at the Ventura County Fair on Monday (August 7th), followed by a show Wednesday (August 9th) in Hollywood, California.

Kip Moore’s “More Girls Like You” is poised to enter the Top 10 on the country charts, and the song, which he co-wrote with Steven Olsen, Josh Miller and David Garcia, is one that is a good representation of where he would like to be some day.
“I wanna always make records that depict where I’m at at that particular place in my life,” says Kip. “This is where I’m at in my life now where, I’m still a wildcard. I’m still aloof and I’m still like might be a little ways away from that, but as I’ve traveled and I’ve been around and seen so many different walks of life and so many cultures, and it’s this constant thing. I’ve watched dads being enamored of their daughters and I look forward to that now. I’m a lot more open to that now. So, that’s what the song is finding that person that you find so amazing that you hope they turn out like that amazing person does.”
“More Girls Like You” is the first single from Kip’s new album, Slowheart, which will be available September 8th.

It’s just a song that I, as I was writing it down, you know ‘I’ve been living like a wild old mustang/out in Montana fields.’ It’s like that’s just 100 percent to a T, that was the first line I said, where it was like we’re all on board; we know where it’s going, and the reason why I connect to it is I feel it 100 percent.”
It was announced last week that Lady Antebellum was going to have a song in the upcoming Spongebob Squarepants musical opening on Broadway December 4th. The song is called “Chop to the Top” based on a particular scene in the musical. The band wrote the tune a few years ago, and it’s just now resurfacing.
“The Spongebob musical opportunity kind of came about randomly. We got approached if we could write a song for it and they gave us the scene and kind of a direction. We wrote the song called ‘Chop to the Top’ [laughs], and it was funny, we didn’t hear much about it for so many years,” says Charles. “Those musicals must take forever to put together, because we were like, ‘Well, I guess it fell through,’ and all of a sudden, years later it resurfaced that it’s coming out. So, I can’t wait to see it. It’ll be fun to take the kids.”
Lady A’s currently making their way up the top of the charts with their single, “You Look Good,” which they’ll perform during their You Look Good World Tour making a stop in Darien Center, New York on Thursday (August 10th), followed by shows in Holmdel, New Jersey and Mansfield, Massachusetts.

It was one of those first writing appointments we did after Eisele was born, ‘cause y’all came over to my basement.” CHARLES: “Those musicals must take forever to put together, because we were like, ‘Well, I guess it fell through,’ and all of a sudden, years later it resurfaced that it’s coming out.
