CARRIE UNDERWOOD RECEIVES A STAR ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME.

Carrie Underwood was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday (September 20th), becoming the 2,646th star on the Walk right outside the famed Capitol Records building on North Vine Street.

“How does a girl from Checotah, Okla., end up with a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame? I will tell you how.” She raved about her family, including her parents and her husband Mike Fisher, who she called “an incredible man who thinks I’m so much better than I am in every way.” She also spoke to her three-and-a-half year old son, saying “Isaiah Michael, I love you so much…and I’m proud of you, and I believe in you, too.”

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell celebrated Carrie, explaining he once predicted she would become the best-selling artist in the history of the show. CMA co-host and friend Brad Paisley praised not only her career, but her humanitarian efforts. “She not only goes into our [country] format and starts having one hit record after another — and is still having hit records — she goes from there to doing good works in this world, and making sure that she’s giving back,” he said. “Between herself, Mike, her family — they live the kind of life all of us would be proud to live.”

Carrie just released her new album, Cry Pretty, last week and has hit the airwaves with her latest song, the inspirational “Love Wins.”

TRAVIS DENNING SHINES UNDER SOME FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

Travis Denning lives, breathes and dies by music, but he also feels the same way about football. He was a huge supporter of his high school football team, so the fact that the “Friday Night Lights” theme would seep into many of his songs is no surprise. He does attribute his love of football to his beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs (or “the Dawgs” as most Georgians would call them).

“The passion I had for high school football all came down to how much I loved the University of Georgia and the Bulldogs. I don’t think a lot of people understand that my first game I went to I was three-years-old. My dad had season tickets my whole life. My grandfather had season tickets, and it’s still probably the biggest part of my life other than country music,” says Travis. “There’s a lot of football, there’s a lot of that Friday Night Lights, that Saturday Night Lights, all that, a lot of that’s in my music, even when I’m not singing about football. I think just that passion and that romance for, man, when those lights come on and the pressure’s on and you’re in the stands – that feeling is in a lot of different spots in my music.”

Travis, who is making his way up the country charts with “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs,” will hit the road with Lanco beginning October 24th in Columbia, Missouri.

I don’t think a lot of people understand that my first game I went to I was three-years-old. My dad had season tickets my whole life. My grandfather had season tickets, and it’s still probably the biggest part of my life other than country music. I’ve been to about 95-100 home games. I love that team, like I love them through everything. It was such a family event too. I mean, Saturdays, I didn’t get to sleep in. I had to wake up at 7:30 and we drove to Athens, set up and tailgating by nine just to make a noon game. But looking back, I would literally never trade those memories for anything because I got to spend time with my folks, my sister and my cousins, and it was such a family affair all around a love for football. There’s a lot of football, there’s a lot of that Friday Night Lights, that Saturday Night Lights, all that, a lot of that’s in my music, even when I’m not singing about football. I think just that passion and that romance for, man, when those lights come on and the pressure’s on and you’re in the stands – that feeling is in a lot of different spots in my music.”

LUKE BRYAN SCORES A SECOND WEEK AT NO. 1 WITH “SUNRISE, SUNBURN, SUNSET.”

Luke Bryan has scored a second week at the top of the country charts with his latest smash, “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset.” The song, written by Zach Crowell, Ryan Hurd and Chase McGill, is the follow up to Luke’s 20th career No. 1 single “Most People Are Good,” which held the top spot for three weeks.

“The guys that wrote it, Ryan Hurd and Zack Crowell and Chase McGill, just knocked it out of the park,” says Luke. “You hear that title so much it just sticks with you, and the second verse is something that’s just truly amazing. They painted so many wonderful pictures of youth and young love and thinking about them out there on a boat dock playing music, passing a bottle around. And it’s just one of my favorite songs, one of my most favorite songs I’ve ever recorded.”

Luke continues his What Makes You Country Tour on Wednesday (September 19th) and kicks off his Farm Tour 2018, with Jon Langston, September 27th in Irwin, Ohio.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD SINGS ABOUT HER OWN “KINGDOM” ON THE NEW ALBUM, CRY PRETTY.

Carrie Underwood gets up close and the most personal on her new album, Cry Pretty. One of the songs she wrote and recorded for the album and that speaks straight to her soul is the uplifting, goosebump-inducing and domestically lovely “Kingdom.”

“It ain’t always pretty as a picture
And it ain’t a mansion on a hill
It’s perfectly imperfect
It’s worth more than it’s worth
It’s our life, it’s our heart, it’s our home
This is our kingdom”

“I feel like ‘Kingdom’ is just all about the things that make you. I’m from a very small town in Oklahoma. When I sing this song, this is what I think of,” she says. “We had everything that we needed. Everything. We did not have a lot of extras in our lives, and that was, I think, a good thing. But to me when I think, I’m gonna cry, [starts crying] when I think about home it’s the best thing. I’m so glad that I grew up where I grew up with my amazing family and the house that we grew up in that my parents still live at in that tiny town with not a lot to do and not a lot of extras. That is part of me.”

Carrie loves going home to Checotah, Oklahoma and staying with her parents in her childhood home and she recently told CBS Sunday Morning [see link below] that being at home lets her “sleep.” “I feel like this is the only place that my soul can rest,” she said. “It’s just when I come here, I can turn off, and there’s no other place in the world like that…I sleep when I’m here. I mean, I sleep, and I don’t get that anywhere else.”

Catch Carrie on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (September 19th). On September 20th, she will receive her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and will perform at the upcoming iHeart Radio Music Festival on September 22nd in Las Vegas.

“I feel like ‘Kingdom’ is just all about the things that make you. I’m from a very small town in Oklahoma. When I sing this song, this is what I think of. We didn’t have an abundance of fancy stuff. We didn’t live in some giant house or some, I mean there was really nothing to do but we kind of had each other and we were really proud of what we had. My parents worked really hard for everything that they were able to give us, and I respect that so much. Our house wasn’t that special but it’s home. So as a child you – I don’t want to say we were poor. That’s the wrong word because we had everything that we needed. Everything. We did not have a lot of extras in our lives, and that was I think a good thing. But to me when I think, I’m gonna cry, [starts crying] when I think about home it’s the best thing. It’s going to blow you away, and you don’t take it seriously but then you don’t understand the gravity of it until it happens. I fell in love with him immediately. He’s just the cutest thing. LUKE BRYAN WANTED TO HELP MAKE THINGS HAPPEN FOR NEWCOMER JON LANGSTON.

Luke Bryan announced his own record label, 32 Bridge Entertainment, under his own record company, UMG Nashville, last week. His first signing is Jon Langston who was brought to town by songwriter (and a member of the Peach Pickers) Rhett Akins. Luke kept hearing great things about Jon and says he felt the need to sign him.

“I woke up one day and he put a song out and it was No. 1 on iTunes for five days, and this kid was unsigned. He came out on Farm Tour and just gave a ton of energy, did a great show, and I just looked him in the eye and said, ‘I don’t know how I’m gonna make this happen, but quit worrying about getting a record deal. We’re gonna make sure you get a record deal and we’re gonna make stuff happen.’ I didn’t have anything planned,” says Luke. “You know, sometimes you have to do some things and not be worried to fail, and he’s in it for the right reasons. He loves making music. He loves the fans. He’s out there working his tail off, and he’s growing every day. Every day, he gets better and better. It’s just really, really fun to see somebody going about it in all the right ways, and if I can’t put my name on the line for Jon Langston then…it felt like something I had to do, and it’s so fun.”

Luke, whose latest song “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” is sitting at No. 1 on the country charts, continues his What Makes You Country Tour on Wednesday (September 19th) and kicks off his Farm Tour 2018, with Jon Langston, September 27th in Irwin, Ohio.

“The ability to start a record label through my record label is such a dream come true for me, and it allows me to see these kids and just sign ‘em. If you love ‘em, sign ‘em. Trust your heart and sign ‘em. And Jon Langston kinda came to town through Rhett Akins and Jon lived with Rhett, and I’ve been watching Jon and I’ve been hearing about Jon and about his following down in Georgia. It’s very similar to what I had going on.”

Audio / Luke Bryan says he felt signing Jon Langston to his label was just something he had to do.
