PARKER McCOLLUM SCORES THIRD NO. 1 SINGLE, “HANDLE ON YOU.”

Parker McCollum has hit the top of the Country Aircheck/Mediabase country chart with his latest smash, “Handle On You.” He co-wrote the gold-certified single with Monty Criswell, and it’s the follow-up to his prior #1 hits — his multi-Platinum debut “Pretty Heart” and Platinum “To Be Loved By You.” “Handle On You” is the lead single from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, Never Enough, out Friday (May 12th).

Parker filmed the video for “Handle On You” back at his family’s ranch in East Texas. While it was a long day of filming, he was able to have fun with the video.

“I’ve done like three music videos out there,” he says. “Any time they’re like they want to film some content of you, I’m like boom, this is an excuse to go to the ranch. If I’m doing a music video it’s an excuse to drive one of my cars, which I really – music videos are kind of a brutal process, they’re pretty boring and they are long days, and so if you can throw in just ripping your Corvette around for an hour or two, it makes it pretty fun. So, I thought the video spoke really well to the song.”

Directed by Jim Wright, the beautifully shot video gives insight into the push and pull of balancing a career that you love but takes you away from home and the people closest to you – striking a middle ground with humble perspective.

“Everybody that wanted to do or pitch a treatment for a music video for ‘Handle On You’ wanted to do it in a bar, and I just said, ‘Man, that’s not my life in a bar anymore. My life is complete chaos 100 miles an hour and then absolute dead silence, and it’s back and forth from one extreme to the other at all times.’ I thought we did a pretty good job in the video kind of showing that,” says Parker.

The Texas native is following up his breakout major label debut, Gold Chain Cowboy, with his forthcoming studio album, Never Enough, out Friday (May 12th).

DALTON DOVER PAYS TRIBUTE TO HIS MOMMA WITH “I WOULDN’T BE HERE” AHEAD OF MOTHER’S DAY.

On the heels of his first single via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records “Giving Up On That” earning the title of most-added the week of its debut at Country radio, Dalton Dover releases “I Wouldn’t Be Here,” paying tribute his momma ahead of Mother’s Day. Dover’s Instagram followers got a preview of the song when he shared his mom’s reaction to hearing it for the first time.

LISTEN TO “I WOULDN’T BE HERE” | HERE

“I wrote ‘I Wouldn’t Be Here’ for one of the most important people in my life, my momma,” shares Dover. “She’s my best friend, the greatest Mimi to my babies and the wisest woman I’ve ever met. I’m so grateful that I get to call her mom.”

Written by Dover with Russell Sutton and Dan Isabell, “I Wouldn’t Be Here” touches on the highs and lows of growing up and the saving grace of Dover’s mother, as he speaks to her directly throughout the song:

Every little league game, every middle school play
Every time I scraped my knee
Every double shift, every penny pinched
Was for my brother and sister and me
My first song came out all wrong, but you told me it was good
I’m standing now to a sold out crowd just like you said I would

Every time I hit rock bottom
You picked me right back up
When I felt like I was nothing
You said son you’re more than enough
I’m the man I am today because you cared
I wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t been there

Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, Dover made his international debut at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour. Dalton Dover (I Wouldn’t Be Here) OC: …loved it. :24
“So, last Mother’s Day, I wanted to surprise my mom with a song, I mean I wanted to surprise my mom somehow, and the best way that I feel like I could do that is to write her a song. I got with a couple of my good buddies, Dan Isbell and Russell Sutton, and we wrote probably one of my favorite songs I ever wrote and it’s called “I Wouldn’t Be Here (if you hadn’t been there).” And I let my mom listen to it last Mother’s Day, and she absolutely loved it.”

BOY NAMED BANJO SHARES UPLIFTING NEW TRACK “WHAT KEEPS ME GOING.”

Nashville-based band Boy Named Banjo has released their uplifting new track “What Keeps Me Going” via Mercury Records Nashville. Over tender, harmony-laced production, the quintet shares a positive anthem of gratitude that was written following what our world has experienced over the last several years.

LISTEN TO “WHAT KEEPS ME GOING” | HERE

“‘What Keeps Me Going’ is essentially our answer to the question, ‘What is important to us?’” shares banjo player Barton Davies, who penned the song with guitarist and harmonica player William Reames and Pat McLaughlin (John Prine, Loretta Lynn). “We wrote this song as we were coming out of the pandemic and reflecting on how that whole experience had shifted our focus. Like many others during that time, we found the most meaning from the simplest things – being outside, watching the sun go down, going fishing, and spending quality time with our loved ones. That’s what kept us going then and what keeps us going today.”

Reames adds, “The song highlights why we do difficult things – whether that is going to a 9-to-5 every day or covering miles in a tour van, the goal is the same: To enjoy life. We work hard to enjoy life.”

Davies continues, “The song sounds like it could’ve been written about 50 years ago, and I love that about it. It’s definitely got a bit of that Laurel Canyon folk-rock feeling to it, but with our contemporary BNB approach. I love the message of the song too. It just seems kinda timeless in the sense that I could look back on this song when I’m older and say, ‘Yep, I still feel that way.’”

“What Keeps Me Going” arrives on the heels of Boy Named Banjo’s Grand Ole Opry debut in March, a momentous milestone for the band that was documented over at People.com.

In a time when the popular choice is to chase the double yellow line down the road to country radio, Boy Named Banjo thrives on its fringes. The Nashville-raised five-piece is a fusion of contemporary country, Americana and folk-rock stacked on a foundation of bluegrass. The band, which has been together in some iteration since its members were in their teens includes Barton Davies (banjo), Ford Garrard (bass/standing bass), Sam McCullough (drums) Willard Logan (mandolin, acoustic/electric guitar) and William Reames (acoustic guitar/harmonica). Reames and Logan played in a middle school garage rock band together, but it wasn’t until Reames met Davies in high school that Boy Named Banjo started taking shape. Garrard and McCullough joined later and together the five guys comprise the band Boy Named Banjo that we know today.

At sold-out shows marked by audiences singing along with every word, Boy Named Banjo tells their stories with an incisive, emotional and roots-driven perspective. In 2020, Boy Named Banjo signed to Mercury Records Nashville and released their debut EP, Circles, the following year. The band spent 2022 on the road playing some of country music’s largest festivals including Dierks Bentley’s Seven Peaks and Country Jam and Kip Moore’s Fire on Wheels Tour, and made their CMA Fest debut playing at the Ascend Amphitheatre Nighttime Concert as well as a sold-out hometown show at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl. The group most recently released the tracks “Whiskey Dreams,” “Heart In Motion” and “Heart Attack,” which earned support from Billboard, CMT, MusicRow and more. Boy Named Banjo is currently prepping their next project to be released later this year.

Tyler Hubbard (Small Town Me) 2 OC: …came from. :44
“You know, something I’ve been reminded of through the song ‘Small Town Me’ and something I hope the fans take away is just the fact that if you grow up in a small town, if you’re proud of where you came from – you can always be proud of where you came from even if you leave, even if you take that small town me and take it all over the world. I’ve had the opportunity to travel a lot to meet a ton of great people. Music’s given me that opportunity, and I’m so thankful for it, but everywhere I go I know there’s still that little piece of where I grew up in small town Georgia, and that little small-town me is still in there. I hope it gives people that grew up the way I did permission to kind of leave and explore the world and see new places and new faces and never lose that part of who they are and where they came from.”

THE WRITING SESSION FOR PARKER McCOLLUM’S “HANDLE ON YOU” STARTED WITH JUST THE TITLE.

Parker McCollum is closing in on the top of the country chart with his latest smash “Handle On You.” He co-wrote the gold-certified song with his buddy Monty Criswell, and he said he loves collaborating with the hit songwriter.

“You know, he had a title ‘Handle On You’ and I don’t like titles. I usually tell them to put their titles away and write from the heart and write something that makes me feel something,” recalls Parker. “But he had the title ‘Handle On You,’ and I just kind of thought it was clever. He kind of caught me on the right day with that one and I said ‘Man, let’s write it.’ It’s kind of an old school country vibe.  So, I just started picking on this melody on my guitar and he really dug it and kind of started that first verse. And he was really the one that kind of started the Tennessee or Kentucky thing and it just kind of went from there.  It’s such a pleasure writing with him. He’s got a crazy talent for writing with an artist and letting them kind of take the lead and write to them, which is really cool.”

“Handle On You” is from his upcoming album, Never Enough, available May 12th.

LUKE BRYAN WILL RELEASE HIS NEW SINGLE, “BUT I GOT A BEER IN MY HAND,” ON FRIDAY.

Luke Bryan will release his new song, “But I Got A Beer In My Hand,” on Friday (May 5th). He announced his new single at last weekend’s Stagecoach and urged fans to go check out a clip he posted on Tik Tok. The tune is the follow-up to his 30th No. 1 smash, “Country On.” He says it’s a good summertime party song about heartbreak.

“It’s about a guy that obviously, his girl leaves him and he’s expecting to really be down about it,” says Luke. “Instead, he goes out, gets a beer in his hand, starts partying and life’s pretty good.”

Luke will perform the song on his upcoming 36-city Country On Tour, which launches June 15th in Syracuse, New York.
