Mother’s Day is on Sunday (May 13th), and some of your favorite country artists are celebrating the mothers in their lives this weekend. In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother’s Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.

Here are some of your favorite country stars honoring all of the Moms out there with stories of their own.

“She works harder than anybody I’ve ever seen. She can outwork most 20-year-olds in the yard still. She grew up on a farm, and I think a lot of that just bulldog it and get it done attitude, I probably get from her. She’ll go from sunup to sundown, and she doesn’t complain, and that’s just so rare. I feel like the work ethic, as far as grind it out and get it done, that toughness comes from her.”

“We don’t really have like any Mother’s Day traditions. I feel like I remember me and Dad making breakfast for Mom like once as a kid. I’m pretty sure we just made a giant mess in the kitchen and we never did that again, so. Being on the other side of things, I obviously don’t expect anything from my three-year-old, but my husband’s really good at getting presents from quote unquote Isaiah. It’s really sweet, because he likes to bring me things. He’s such a sweet little guy, and anytime he’s outside, he’ll pick me flowers and things. So, I’m like, ‘You’re learning. You’ve already got me wrapped around your finger, and then you do stuff like that, and it’s even more so.’”

“She is unrelenting in her love and her support, and even when we’re crazy kids and we screw up, it doesn’t matter. Her love knows no bounds. And her undying devotion to her kids – to my sister and I – always believing in us a million percent, always backing us up a million percent and helping us navigate life and navigate our dreams and helping us go towards that goal – those are some of the qualities that I hope to have some day as a mother, you know? And I’m so grateful I have THE best mom in the WORLD!”

“My mom was just always great. She worked a lot. She was a nurse and she worked a lot. She took a lot of overtime and stuff to make sure we could live basically, but she always just so supportive, ever since I was a kid. I was always a music kid. Growing up in an African-American neighborhood, I was never that guy who was gonna be pigeonholed to let people say I could only listen to this and I could only do this, because I was African-American. She always supported whatever I wanted to do, whatever I wanted to listen to, wherever I wanted to go, she always had my back. Going to college and everything, she was my biggest supporter and never let my brothers and sisters knock me down or try to tell me I can’t do this or that. All of my success comes because my mother was always in my corner.”

Dierks Bentley (Mother’s Day – Cassidy) OC: …to have her. :31
“It’s the toughest job out there being a mom, and I know from my life with my wife Cassidy. We work as a team together when I’m home, and it takes everyone to get the job done, me and her, working together. So, when I go on the road, I just have so much respect for her because it’s hard to do it right, if you want to do it great, and she does a great job with it. It’s really rewarding, but it’s also very challenging. I’m so thankful that she takes it on the way she does, and our kids are very lucky to have her.”

“My mom, even though my dad won’t like this, my mom is by far the toughest person that I’ve met. She’s tough. One of those people that’s been through a lot in her life, adversity wise and never complains, always really resilient with anything that’s happened to her. And it’s just that attitude, the positive attitude, regardless of what has happened that I think is the one thing that I got from her. With career, she’s always been a person that’s been really positive through times that I couldn’t find a positive streak, [laughs] and she was always really positive, and very much believes in tough it out, keep working hard, and that’s her motto with stuff like that. I’ve always been impressed with that stuff. Then musically, she’s where I get my talent from, musically. She sings great, always has, her mom sang great. I owe my musical chops to her. And she still sings some. So, career-wise, I owe her everything. And just in life-wise she’s given me a lot of the qualities that it has taken for me to get me where I am. Not only as a musician, but as a man.”

Eric Paslay (Mother’s Day) OC: …it’s good. :21
“I wanna thank my mom for giving me faith, laughter and pride in the family I came from. She’d be the fun Mom, just goofing off in the sprinklers outside or we’d go out and play in the rain and all that stuff growing up. She’s always good to be around; always happy, and it’s good.”

Jon Pardi (Mother’s Day) OC: …worrying about me. :29
“My mom’s always been there for me. First of all, she’s a great mom. She’s an angel. She takes care of people that aren’t even in the family. She’s always been like that, and she’s a great mother. She’s always proud, and she’s always there supporting and being a great mom. She’s just a good human being. There’s not one mean bone in her body. And she cries about every time I talk to her. She always worries about me. I have to tell her, ‘Stop worrying about me.’”

“I’m a Mama’s Boy. I love my Mom, and it’s the way she finds the good in everything. With my Mom, as opposed to finding anything negative, she’s gonna find something positive first. That’s something I really hope I can be more like her on; one of the many things I wish I could be more like my mom on. My mom, she loves flowers, so we’ll get her flowers or take her to, we’re slowly getting her into sushi, so we love to take Mom out to sushi spots on Mother’s Day.” [laughs]

Keith Urban (Nicole is extraordinary mother) OC: …to see. :45
“She’s an extraordinary mum, she really, really is. Those girls are very, very lucky, and I feel very lucky that the children I should have in this world happen to be with Nic. I don’t know anything about raising kids and Nic does, and that comes in extremely, um, it’s really made for an experience I wouldn’t have had without that. Her patience, her recognizing them as people and not just little kids is really extraordinary. Her attention to honoring their feelings and listening to them right from day one – really being attentive to that is not how I was raised at all, so it’s really beautiful to see.”

Charles Kelley {Mother) OC: …playing music. :23
“We were honestly, at times, pretty hard to handle, both of us. We used to play our music loud up above on the second floor [of the house], bang on the drums and the guitar. And my mom’s just one of those people, she’ll do anything for her family and she sacrificed a lot for us boys. Anytime we needed something, she made it happen. And so, we owe her a lot. She’s definitely the reason we’re playing music.”

“I honestly would not be able to do it without my mom. I get overwhelmed sometimes, and if she wasn’t there to comfort me or tell me, ‘Look just realize what you’ve got going for you,’ I’d be up the creek [without a paddle]. She’s got my back. It’s Mother’s Day, her birthday and the weather was going to be beautiful, so I planned this awesome surprise where we would drive first – she wouldn’t know where we were going, and then we ended up going canoeing down the Harpeth River [located south of Nashville] and it was so fun.”

“You know, my favorite thing about my mom, especially as I get older, is realizing how much me and her have in common. I just love that she’s passionate about music. She loves it. I love that we get to be friends, we get to be best friends, but at the same time, she’s still Mom and she still loves me and my sister like crazy.”

Keith Urban’s GRAFFITI U, his ninth studio album release and first in nearly two years, debuted this past week to new personal sales and chart milestones in the United States, Canada and Australia. A #1 Billboard Country Album Chart debut (#2 on Billboards Top 200 behind Post Malone), marks his 5^th #1 album (his third in a row) and his highest first week sales figure in nearly 8 years (2010s Get Closer).

In Australia, Urban’s GRAFFITI U takes the top spot on the ARIA Country Album Chart, marking his 3^rd consecutive #1, his 5^th overall and finds itself at #2 on the all genre chart.

Carrie Underwood leads the list of nominees for this year’s CMT Music Awards nominations with four. Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line also have four nods as well. Carrie is nominated for Female Video, Collaborative Video and overall Video of the Year for “The Champion,” as well as for the CMT Performance of the Year Award for her performance with Keith Urban on “The Fighter” at last year’s CMT Music Awards.

MCA Nashville’s hot newcomer Jordan Davis earns the No.1 most added song at country radio this week with his new single “Take It From Me,” listen HERE. The upbeat track was written by Jordan along with Jason Gantt and Jacob Davis and is featured on Jordan’s debut album Home State which remains the highest-selling debut album for a solo country artist this year.

“‘Take It From Me’ is a song I wrote with my brother and Jason Gantt. I remember I’d always loved that saying, ‘take it from me,’ just because growing up I got told that a lot. Take it from me, don’t do this or that. It was actually Jacob’s title that he brought in, and I remember when we kinda started thinking about writing it from that perspective. You know, that kind of advice-giving way. I kind of just wanted to flip it on its head. And I remember one of the examples that I threw out was about the T-shirt, the T-shirt line. We always said how like for some reason girls always run off with your most comfortable T-shirt, and we were able to get that into song and the chorus. That was one where Jason just already had a really cool groove already going and we had a lot of fun in that one.”

MAY 7, 2018 – Carrie Underwood will return to American Idol as a superstar guest mentor on Sunday, May 13 (airing live on ABC 8:00 PM Eastern/7:00 PM Central/5:00 PM Pacific). Her appearance was announced during Idol’s live show on Sunday, May 6, along with a worldwide exclusive look at her new music video for the lead single and title track from her forthcoming album, Cry Pretty. The top five contestants, consisting of Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Maddie Poppe and Michael J. Woodard, will perform songs from the Carrie Underwood songbook on next week’s live show, following a special mentoring session with her during a surprise trip to Nashville. Keith Urban threw together an amazing collaboration when he played the Stagecoach festival last weekend. He brought up Brothers Osborne, who had played earlier in the day, and the legendary Dwight Yoakam to perform Dwight’s 1993 hit “Fast as You.”

He went back and forth via text with Brothers Osborne on what artist and song to cover. They decided on Dwight and “Fast as You.” He said the collaboration came together quite quickly once they heard Dwight was at Stagecoach. “One of the guys in the band said to me, ‘I think Dwight’s playing Stagecoach.’ I’m like, ‘No. No he’s not.’ And they said, ‘Yeah, yeah. On a different stage,’” says Keith. “So, I went, ‘Well, if he is, we’ve got to get him up there.’ I get a hold of his number from a friend of mine. I text him out of the blue, ‘Hey! It’s Keith Urban,’ like he doesn’t know who I am, ‘Would you sit in with us?’ He’s like, ‘I’d be honored. That’d be great.’ So, I say, ‘Okay. Here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna do ‘Fast as You.’ I’m not gonna announce you. You just need to come up halfway through the song and just own it.’ And he came out and so Dwighted it. It was fantastic. John Osborne, TJ and me, we’re all just kids in a candy store right then. It was so, so awesome for us.”

Keith was inspired by Dwight, not only by his music, but also his fashion. “I told Dwight, ‘I hate saying this, Dwight, but I have a publicity picture of me from 1990 where I’ve got tight stonewashed jeans with Conchos all up the side of my pants and a Bolero type suit jacket with the bolo tie and the snakeskin boots, I’ve got it all going on. I’m Dwighting it to the hilt. [laughs] And when we played with him on stage, somebody took the best picture of us, and I sent it to my buddy in Australia and I said, ‘Check this out! Can you believe this happened?’ ‘Cause we’re still fans. We’re such fans, you know?”

Keith is making his way up the country charts with his latest song, “Coming Home,” which is from his new album, Graffiti U.

Travis Denning just finished touring with Justin Moore, and he says he owes him so much for helping him realize his dream.

“Justin Moore – I also like to call him the ‘Arkansas Redneck’ – was there at the beginning. We share the same producer, and that’s how I met him. He cut two of my songs really early on, and he’s always had my back,” says Travis. “He’s an amazing human being, a great father, a great Christian, an incredible performer and one of the best examples of someone who knows exactly what his audience wants…I’m so thankful that he’s taken us out on the road and he’s had me on stage a few times. He’s always tried to help put me in a position to succeed, and I think he just does that because he’s a good guy. I mean I think he likes me a little bit, even though I’ll talk some football smack to him and he’s not a big fan of that, but I love Justin Moore. I owe him so much.”

Carrie Underwood premiered the video for “Cry Pretty” during American Idol on Sunday night (May 6th).

Carrie co-wrote “Cry Pretty” with the “Love Junkies” (Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose). The song will be the title track from her forthcoming album, Cry Pretty.

Carrie will perform the song as she makes her return to Idol May 13th.

Darius Rucker (May 25th), Dierks Bentley (June 12th), Lady Antebellum (July 6th) and Keith Urban (August 2nd) have all been tapped to perform during the Today Show’s Citi Summer Concert Series this year.

Luke Bryan will appear on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (May 7th).

Darius Rucker will perform during the Grand Ole Opry’s Salute the Troops show May 22nd. He will be joined by Trace Adkins, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler and Lee Greenwood.

Brothers Osborne will perform at Bonnaroo festival again this year, as part of the Grand Ole Opry show on June 10th in Manchester, Tennessee. LANCO, Ole Crow Medicine Show, Bobby Bare and the Del McCoury Band will also perform.

Keith Urban performed “Never Coming Down” and “My Wave” from his brand new album, Graffiti U, on Late Night With Seth Meyers last week.
