DARIUS RUCKER CELEBRATES THE NO. 1 SUCCESS OF HIS RECENT HIT ‘IF I TOLD YOU.’

Darius Rucker celebrated the chart-topping success of “If I Told You” at the new Top Golf location in Nashville on Thursday night (September 21st). Joined by songwriters Ross Copperman (“Break on Me,” “Lose My Mind,” “Drunk on Your Love,” “Don’t It”), Shane McAnally (“Leave the Night On,” “Body Like a Back Road,” “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” “Different for Girls”) and Jon Nite (“Break on Me,” “We Were Us,” “Strip It Down,” “Tip It On Back”), Darius explained why the song hit him so hard as it described his life in detail that he had to reach out to Shane to ask why he wasn’t in the writers’ room while that song was being crafted.

“I was blown away. From the opening line, I thought this is my life. I remember the first time it got to that chorus, you know, I said, ‘Stop it. Let’s cut it right now!’ And it was really a song I thought was written for me,” says Darius. “For me, ‘what if I told you about my little nothing town/the two-room house where I came from/the man that I got my name from/I don’t even know where he is now,’ when I heard that line, I thought, ‘Oh my God.’ The thing about that song is it shocked me how many people reached out to me and said, ‘This is my life.’”

Darius is currently making his way up the country charts with his latest song, “For the First Time,” which is the second release from his upcoming album, When Was the Last Time, which will be released October 20th.

You can preorder When Was the Last Time now and receive three songs instantly, including the No. 1 “If I Told You,” “For the First Time” and “Don’t.” Preorder here.

Audio / Darius Rucker and songwriter Shane McAnally, along with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite, talk about how the No. 1 song “If I Told You” truly relates to people, even though it contains some very personal scenarios.

DARIUS: “I was blown away. From the opening line, I thought this is my life. I remember the first time it got to that chorus, you know, I said, ‘Stop it. Let’s cut it right now!’ And it was really a song I thought was written for me.” SHANE: “What’s funny is being that specific ‘cause we feel it’s about our lives too.” DARIUS: “And that was why I reached out to you, as I said for me, ‘what if I told you about my little nothing town/the two-room house where I came from/the man that I got my name from/I don’t even know where he is now,’ when I heard that line, I thought, ‘Oh my God.’ The thing about that song is it shocked me how many people reached out to me and said, ‘This is my life.’ [SHANE: “Yeah, exactly.”] So many people.” SHANE: “It is so specific, but I mean it is specific, but it’s the truth and it is how a lot of us were raised and a lot of us feel. We’re so used to like, when we fall in love with people in not showing those parts, because we really want to… [ROSS: “Save face.”] Yeah, exactly, when the truth is those are probably the things that make someone love you if you’re brave enough to show ‘em.”

DIERKS BENTLEY WRITES AND RECORDS “HOLD THE LIGHT” FOR THE UPCOMING FILM, ONLY THE BRAVE.

HTL Dierks

The distinctive vocals of multiplatinum singer/songwriter and Arizona native Dierks Bentley resonate throughout “Hold The Light,” his first-ever song written and recorded for a motion picture. Also featuring Bon Iver’s S. Carey, “Hold the Light” is featured in Columbia Pictures and Black Label Media’s Only The Brave, in theaters nationwide October 20th. The song was written by Bentley, Carey, Joe Trapanese and Jon Randall.

Bentley first took action in 2013 when he organized and hosted the Country Cares Concert in Arizona, which raised more than half a million dollars for the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. The new song honors and embodies the spirit of the true heroism depicted in the film and is available now at all digital retailers and streaming partners.

In composing the song, Bentley and Carey worked closely with Only the Brave composer Joe Trapanese.  In the collaboration, the songwriters worked Trapanese’s film theme into the music of the song, providing a seamless transition between song and score and resulting in a song that is integral to the film itself.

“This is at the top, if not the most meaningful experience I’ve ever been a part of,” said Bentley. “It hits me harder than any other song I’ve had a chance to be a part of. Over the last couple years I’ve met and gotten to know Brendan, the sole survivor, and my mom has met with some of the guys’ families, and it’s still unfathomable to put yourself in any of their shoes. But, our goal was to create a message of hope and love. I’m honored to have been a part of it.”

Joseph Kosinski, the director of the film, added, “This story resonated deeply with Dierks from the beginning – he was one of the first to raise money to support the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and his commitment has been unwavering since then. The theme comes from the score and the lyrics come from the heart, so it was a natural fit for the film.

S. Carey said, “Working on this song with Joe, Dierks, and the whole crew was a true honor. My brother-in-law has been a wildlands fire fighter for the last several years so I had a somewhat personal starting point for the creative process. I’m extremely thankful to be able to honor these men, these true heroes, in the form of a song in a beautiful, powerful film.”

It’s not what stands in front of you – it’s who stands beside you. Only the Brave, based on the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, is the heroic story of one unit of local firefighters that through hope, determination, sacrifice, and the drive to protect families, communities, and our country become one of the most elite firefighting teams in the country. As most of us run from danger, they run toward it – they watch over our lives, our homes, everything we hold dear, as they forge a unique brotherhood that comes into focus with one fateful fire. The film stars Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, James Badge Dale, with Taylor Kitsch and Jennifer Connelly. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer, based upon the GQ Article “No Exit” by Sean Flynn, the film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Michael Menchel, Erik Howsam, Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill, Trent Luckinbill, Dawn Ostroff, and Jeremy Steckler.

Current CMA “Male Vocalist of the Year” nominee Dierks Bentley has a “reputation as one of the hardest-working entertainers in country music” (Music Row) as “he sells out enormous tours, is a perennial favorite of format radio stations, and earns critical acclaim without compromising his artistic vision,” (Entertainment Weekly). With 17 No. One hits and more than one billion digital streams he “continues to take risks that pay off,” (USA Today) as his eighth studio album BLACK, has been hailed the “most fully-formed LP of his career,” (TIME). After making its debut at the No. One position on Billboard’s all-genre Top Albums Chart and Top Country Albums chart, BLACK has garnered nominations from the ACM, CMA, GRAMMY and Billboard Music Awards while earning three consecutive No. Ones; the gold-certified title track and the PLATINUM certified hits “Somewhere On A Beach” and “Different For Girls.” “The bluegrass picker, the love  song singer and the stadium rocker all packaged together” (Associated Press) has been a Grand Ole Opry member for over a decade and has illustrated his depth and diversity as an artist with “ferocious live performances” (Fresno Bee) throughout his 2017 WHAT THE HELL WORLD TOUR, which claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Tours selling over 750 million tickets. JOSH TURNER CELEBRATES 10 YEARS AS A MEMBER OF THE GRAND OLE OPRY.

This summer, MCA Nashville’s Josh Turner hit a landmark with his 150th performance at the Grand Ole Opry. On Tuesday night, the multi-platinum-selling country star celebrated his 10th anniversary of being a member of the legendary institution. On hand was the highly-revered, longtime Opry member Bill Anderson, who also happened to host the night of Turner’s very first appearance at the famed institution over 16 years ago.

“When I was headed back to my dressing room, Bill Anderson asked the crowd if they wanted to hear some more,” recalls Turner of his first experience on the historic show. “Bill hollered out at me and said, ‘Josh, let’s make that train a little bit longer.’  I was blown away that he called me back out to do an encore.  I didn’t know how to do an encore and I didn’t have a second song prepared so I sang ‘Long Black Train’ again.”

Prior to his anniversary celebration, Turner was surprised by his management and his label with the news that his most-recent No. 1, “Hometown Girl,” off his current No. 1-debuting album Deep South, is now officially RIAA-certified Gold. Turner’s Opry performance included “Hometown Girl,” his Platinum-selling No. 1 hits “Would You Go with Me” and “Your Man,” his latest single playing at country radio now “All About You,” and ended with the timeless “Long Black Train.”

Turner also releases the brand-new video for “All About You” today. The video is a compilation of live show footage giving fans a glimpse of life on the road with the soulful baritone. View HERE.

JORDAN DAVIS WAS BLESSED WITH SOME GOOD GENES.

Jordan Davis didn’t always have the fine beard he’s sporting these days. He just started growing it long about four years ago, and it was pretty unruly at first.

“For a little while, it was pretty wild,” Jordan says. “I started playing shows, and I…didn’t want to shave my face, but where my beard was at was not, it was not a good look. So, I just kind of started grooming it and taking care of it, and luckily, I was just blessed with some good genes in growing a beard. I’ve got to give that to my mom and my dad. Thank y’all.” He does clarify that his facial hair is due more to his dad’s side.

Jordan, who’s climbing the country charts with his debut single, “Singles You Up,” will hit the road with labelmate Kip Moore on his Plead the Fifth Tour, kicking off October 19th in Bowling Green, Ohio.
