SCOTTY McCREERY IS PROUD TO BE A PART OF AMERICAN IDOL, BUT SAD TO SEE IT END.
The final season of American Idol begins Wednesday night (January 6th) with judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. Scotty McCreery, who took home the title in 2011 on Season 10, says he’s really proud to have been on American Idol, and plans to make an appearance or two this year.
“Idol is one of the biggest shows in pop culture history, but also television history. So, it’s really cool to be a part of that, being with Carrie, Kellie and all sorts of folks. It’s really been an honor to carry that flag, to carry that torch around the country and [it] did a lot of great things for me, that show. So, sad to see that go, but it had a great run,” he says. “Proud to be a part of it, proud of what the show did for a lot of folks, you know, your next-door neighbor could be the American Idol. That was what was so great about the show, and that was me. I was bagging groceries, and now I’m on your radio, so it’s been a cool four, five years after. Sad to see it go. Bittersweet, but it’ll be a fun final season.”
Scotty is set to release his first book, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, in May.

DIERKS BENTLEY SEES THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS THROUGH HIS CHILDREN’S EYES.
There’s just something so special about having young children experience the magic of Christmas, and Dierks Bentley enjoyed every single second of it with his family, that includes wife Cassady, daughters Evie (7) and Jordan (5) and son Knox (2). He says Knox is really starting to figure out what to do with his presents.
“I’ve had several friends that have told me that these are the years, the best years with kids and Santa Claus, and it really is. I’ve got a seven-year-old, a five-year-old and a two-year-old, and just the excitement around Christmas, the tree,” says Dierks. “My two-year-old just discovering how to do presents, taking off the paper. He didn’t really get that, [but] he gets it now. He has a full understanding what a present is, but the first present I gave him, he kind of just wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it. And the girls, you know, the Elf on a Shelf, and just all the lights, driving around and seeing the lights around town and stuff. It takes you right back when you were a kid.”
The family of five also made the trek from Nashville to Phoenix to visit family members, but some of them spent a little too much time in the bathroom. “Everyone got sick in my family. There’s a nasty bug going around, and a lot of vomit [laughs] in the Bentley household, but I avoided it. I think I’ve been on the road and around so many germs that I’m immune to it. Even considering that, it was still such a great time, and it’s special every year, so special.”
Dierks is set to co-host this year’s ACM Awards with pal Luke Bryan. The 51st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas April 3rd at 8pm ET on CBS.

BROTHERS OSBORNE READY DEBUT ALBUM, PAWN SHOP.
Classic country, timeless rock and roll and a blue collar background are the primary elements that make up the music of Brothers Osborne’s debut album, Pawn Shop. The collection, produced by Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Little Big Town, Cage the Elephant and Zac Brown Band), features 11 songs written by brothers John and TJ Osborne, including their Top 3 single, “Stay a Little Longer.”
“Every song is held together by John and I and what we do, but we want it to be kind of these different scenes in every track,” says TJ. “We went through a lot, a lot of material and listened to it over and over and over…I think every artist struggles with [picking songs for an album]. If you think of all of your life’s work being summed up in 11 songs, that’s really, really challenging.”
- The guys are nominated for their first Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group for “Stay a Little Longer.”
- Pawn Shop is available beginning January 15th. To pre-order an exclusive Pawn Shop album package, visit:http://umgn.us/4Dnu

Audio / Brothers Osborne’s TJ Osborne says it’s been a bit of a challenge picking songs for their debut album.

“We really focused on having this album be, every song is held together by John and I and what we do, but we want it to be kind of these different scenes in every track. So, that’s really, really difficult to whittle that down. I don’t know. We went through a lot, a lot of material and listened to it over and over and over. Some of the songs when you’re listening to ‘em, you’re not sure how they’re gonna turn out when you finally record them. I mean, it’s pretty often a lot of times the song that you think is gonna be the best song, the easiest song to record ends up being the hardest one and sometimes doesn’t turn out that great. Then there’s these little diamonds-in-the-rough that’s usually the last song you just threw on the session just ‘cause you had the time, and it’s just suddenly that’s the one, you know? I don’t know why that is, but I think that’s really challenging. I think every artist struggles with [picking songs for an album]. If you think of all of your life’s work being summed up in 11 songs, that’s really, really challenging.” -

They can’t really see you, but you can just see the excitement on people’s faces before they even see your face, and of course the band and everybody jumping around backstage ready for the show. Then that moment when you get to take the stage and you finally get to connect your smile with their smiles, that’s energizing in itself for me, and hopefully for them too. That’s when it all gets crazy.” [laughs]
