• ALAN JACKSON CONTRIBUTES SONG TO DAUGHTER’S NEW BOOK.

Alan Jackson has collaborated with daughter Mattie Jackson Selecman on a new song – available for a limited time – that’s being released in conjunction with her first book.

“Racing the Dark,” co-written by the father and daughter and recorded by the Country Music Hall of Famer, is available as a download now for a limited time with pre-orders of Lemons on Friday (Thomas Nelson/W Publishing Group). In the humble and inspiring book, Selecman shares her journey of facing the most heartbreaking loss of her life – the sudden and tragic passing of her husband Ben from a traumatic brain injury just 11 months into their marriage.

Lemons on Friday will be published November 16rh, 2021 – the book is available for pre-order now here. In addition to the companion song, Lemons on Friday features a foreword by Alan and wife Denise Jackson, a New York Times best-selling author herself. The couple details their perspective of Mattie’s love story, the pain she faced, and the renewed hope they see in her.

In Lemons on Friday, Selecman carries readers through the early weeks of her grief and the many questions that followed. She also touches on how, through her pain, she found new purpose in NaSHEville, a company she co-founded that benefits orphans, human trafficking victims and widows.

“Racing the Dark” marks the first songwriting collaboration by Jackson and his oldest daughter, but she – and her sisters – have been the inspiration behind several of his songs. His most recent album, Where Have You Gone (released in May) featured two songs written for his daughters’ weddings – “You’ll Always Be My Baby” and “I Do.” Mattie and her siblings also came to life in such classics as “Drive (for Daddy Gene),” “Remember When” and the fan-favorite “Job Description.”

Now, in the film, Ben Platt returns as Evan Hansen, an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being A WallflowerWonder), the film is written for the screen by the show’s Tony® winner Steven Levenson with music and lyrics by Pasek & Paul. Dear Evan Hansen stars six-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams, Oscar® winner Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart), Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Colton Ryan (Little Voice), Nik Dodani (Atypical) and Danny Pino (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).

  • LAUREN ALAIN WRITES ABOUT HER JOURNEY OF SELF-LOVE AND FAITH IN HER BOOK, GETTING GOOD AT BEING YOU, OUT IN NOVEMBER.

Lauren Alaina is gearing up to release her first-ever book, Getting Good At Being You, on November 2nd. The new scribe says the faith-based book, is about her path to loving herself again.

“I’ve been doing a lot of stuff, faith-based stuff over the last couple of years. It was really laid on my heart to do that and I think this opportunity probably came to me from doing those other things. I hosted a Jesus Calling show. I did the Jesus Calling podcast. I started really talking – speaking out about my faith. And Harper Collins actually came to me to write the book and asked if I would be interested in writing a gift book. They sent me a couple of examples that I read, and I was excited because it really felt like it lined up with kind of what I do already. And it’s a faith-based book called Getting Good At Being You and it’s all about my journey of self-love and my faith and getting into the place that I’m in now and all of the things that happened. It’s not really a memoire but a lot of my life is woven through the book to share with people how I got through different situations and how different things shaped my faith, and I’m really proud of it.”

Trisha Yearwood, who debuts with her on the song “Getting Good” from her album Sitting Pretty On Top Of The World, wrote the foreword to the book.

Lauren is currently making her way up the country charts with “Getting Over Him,” which features her pal Jon Pardi.

  • ERIC CHURCH READIES FIRST-EVER IN-THE-ROUND TOUR AS HE INVITES FANS TO GATHER AGAIN.

For reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Eric Church, each tour is an opportunity to re-imagine the limits of what’s possible; to bring something new to the fans. For his most recent outing, 2019’s Double Down Tour, that meant playing back-to-back nights in each market with completely different set lists and setting a concert attendance record at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium – sans opening act – with 56,521 fans singing at the top of their lungs well past midnight.

Now, just days away from the launch of The Gather Again Tour where he will perform a full tour from an in-the-round stage for the first time ever, Church carries with him five nominations for the upcoming CMA Awards, including an opportunity to retain the top honor of Entertainer of the Year. With four additional nominations, for Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (Heart), Single of the Year and Song of the Year (both for “Hell Of A View”), Church is tied for the most nods this year and brings his all-time count to 35 total nominations.

For the man Billboard celebrates as “a touring juggernaut” and Pollstar regards as “one of the most successful touring country artists,” this return to the road – especially after nearly 700 days away from full-time touring – means going all in. Just as Church and his band hunkered down in rural North Carolina to create his chart-topping and critically-acclaimed triple album, Heart & Soul, the core group once again tucked away in a musical bootcamp, setting up shop in Lititz, Pennsylvania for two weeks to rehearse for the upcoming tour.

“The hardest thing I’ve done thus far in my career is this setlist,” Church shares of the extensive preparations in a rare behind-the-scenes look at the inner makings of a live show. “It’s not a normal record; it’s three. So, you add 28 songs to what we already had going, which is a pretty stacked and packed setlist, and when you start to try to get rid of stuff and change it every night – which I’m committed to; we’re still going to play the different set, we’re going to give people different experiences – it has been maddening.

“It’s the most musical we’ve ever been,” he continues. “To see the way the new music happens in the show is something that I’m excited just to see and, also, we’re trying to reimagine songs that we’ve played 100 times, playing them different, and that’s just fun. It’s fun for us to do. There’s going to be a lot of songs that fans aren’t gonna recognize at first, that we’re gonna start singing and they’re going to go ‘oh yeah, that’s that song.’ So, I think it’s just fun after this many years to change it up and make it about music; make it musical. I’m just excited to see the reaction.”

After such thorough rehearsals, the 10-time GRAMMY nominee has now made himself at home on the 2,400 square foot multi-level stage – which will be positioned in the center of each arena floor and accompanied by 11 busses, 20 trucks, a 127,000-pound lighting rig and four 836 square foot video walls – and he is primed to deliver a brand-new version of the high-octane live show his Church Choir fans have come to love.

“I’ve never played a stage like this in my career… I’ve never seen anybody play one like this,” notes Church of his first-ever in-the-round setup. “There’s really no front… It’s kind of like a cage match. I mean once we get out there the crowd is everywhere. They’re behind you, they’re on the sides, and I love that…. The reason it’s called The Gather Again Tour is we want people on top of us, and they will be.”

Now, with two weeks of rehearsals and detailed planning under their belt, Church and company get the cage match underway this Friday, September 17, at Lexington, Ky.’s Rupp Arena with 56 dates throughout the U.S. and Canada to follow. Tickets to all dates, including the grand finale at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden, are on sale now at EricChurch.com.

All tour dates will enforce local venue and/or city guidelines regarding COVID-19 precautions. Church will be touring with a fully vaccinated band and crew.

    About Eric Church
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and 10-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church has spent the past year releasing new music at a relentless pace; providing a glimpse into the results of a marathon writing session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day – including his latest Gold-certified No. 1 single “Hell of a View” and current single “Heart On Fire” – while sequestered in rural North Carolina, and fueling speculation around his critically acclaimed, chart-topping new three-part project, Heart & Soul, available everywhere now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During his most recent outing, 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium in February of this year to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and will return to the road for his 55-city The Gather Again Tour this month, visiting full-capacity arenas for an in-the-round show in addition to a headlining spot alongside George Strait and Metallica during the ATLive festival at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this November.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous album, the Gold-certified Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Previous releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”), as well as 29 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD BRINGS THE HYPE FOR A NEW SEASON OF SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.

Carrie Underwood kicked off NBC’s Sunday Night Football last night (September 12th) with a new opening sequence. She says as she enters her ninth season of performing the opening song, “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” — based on Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself For Loving You” – says it’s great to be back to help get fans excited for the game.

“It is always a pleasure to get to do the Sunday Night Football open. We are back this year. It’s always interesting and a challenge to try and figure out what we’re gonna do with things year after year and how we’re gonna keep it new and fresh. This year they came up with being on this super high-tech set. It was just such a cool environment to get to be in. I felt like I was in a stadium being on a set in L.A. It was super cool, and I feel like it turned out that way as well. But we’re all about bringing the hype and energy and getting people ready for a great game. So, it’s fun to be back!”

Carrie, who can be heard with Dan + Shay for the song “Only Us” on the soundtrack for the film, Dear Evan Hansen, can also be heard singing the soaring duet “If I Didn’t Love You” with Jason Aldean.

  • LAUREN ALAINA GETS ADVICE FROM DAD WHILE FILMING NEW HALLMARK MOVIE.

Lauren Alaina will star in the Hallmark Channel’s “Roadhouse Romance,” the first movie of their 2021 “Fall Harvest” programming event. She will star as Lt. Callie Jackson, who returns home after a military tour, expecting everything to pick up right where she left it. To her dismay, her late Grandfather’s BBQ joint is struggling, and her high school sweetheart has moved on. She has a run-in with Luke (Tyler Hynes), a TV director passing through town, who teaches her that sometimes it’s best to look forward instead of looking back.

Her father, JJ, gave her some pointers for her character’s uniform. “My character’s name is Callie Jackson. Do I look like a Callie? Um, and she’s a lieutenant in the Army. Do I look like a lieutenant in the Army? (laughs) No, I don’t but they made me look like one so that’s all that matters, which was a really nice nod to my father because my dad is an Army vet, so I was really excited about that. And while I was on set, I facetimed my daddy in my uniform and he cried and then he told me to fix my hat. That he didn’t like the way it was sitting on my head and I didn’t actually look like I was in the Army. So, we had to spend ten minutes on the phone addressing the hat, which is a classic JJ move. If you ever meet my father, you’ll understand.”

Lauren performs her songs “Run” and “What Do You Think Of,” in the movie which also appear on her new album, Sitting Pretty On Top Of The World. She also sings a cover of Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing At All,” the first song she performed at Tootsies in Nashville when she was just twelve years old.

Lauren is making her way up the country charts with her latest song, “Getting Over Him,” which features her pal, Jon Pardi.

That he didn’t like the way it was sitting on my head and I didn’t actually look like I was in the Army. So, we had to spend ten minutes on the phone addressing the hat, which is a classic JJ move. If you ever meet my father, you’ll understand. But the character is really sweet. She’s really family oriented. She comes home from being deployed for two years and is trying to get back into her life and there are a couple of things that happened. It feels very much like the Lauren Alaina world, just a little different. Um, so the character is pretty – personality-wise — pretty close to me naturally, so that was exciting. And I get to sing in the movie. They made that work and I got to put a couple of songs from the album in there, which I’m excited about.”

  • MICKEY GUYTON RELEASES NEW SONG “LOVE MY HAIR.”

Capitol Nashville’s Mickey Guyton releases new song, “Love My Hair” today from her forthcoming debut album Remember Her Name out September 24th. Written by Mickey with Anna Krantz, the personal “Love My Hair” continues the theme of self-acceptance and embracing differences that is a thread throughout Remember Her Name.

If I could go back to twelve

    I would tell myself

    That straight up or down

    Baby, that’s your crown

    Whoever made up those rules

    They don’t apply to you

    Straight up or down

    Turn the world around

“I wrote ‘Love My Hair’ after seeing a video of a little Black girl who was sent home from school because she was told that her hair was too distracting,” shares Mickey.  “Seeing this young girl’s embarrassment and agony brought me back to my own struggles with self-love and I wanted to write a song to this little girl facing adversity because of what God gave her. I want her and anyone facing similar struggles to feel seen.”
