KEITH URBAN’S ‘THE FIGHTER’ STARTED WITH A SIMPLE IDEA.

Keith Urban is poised to enter the Top 10 on the country chart with his latest single, “The Fighter,” featuring Carrie Underwood.

“It was a really simple idea that you’re in a relationship, at the beginning of the relationship, and in my case, the girl…just wants reassurance, and I thought I’d love to hear that in a song where the girl says really simple things,” says Keith. “I just liked the simplicity of all that, because that’s been my experience. More often than not, the more real, simple scenario is pretty universal.”

Keith co-wrote the song, the follow-up to his 22nd No. 1 single “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” with busbee, who also co-wrote “Sun Don’t Let Me Down” and “Your Body,” which are also included on the Ripcord album.

Audio / Keith Urban explains the simple and realistic story behind his latest hit, “The Fighter,” featuring Carrie Underwood.

Keith Urban (The Fighter) 2 OC: …pretty universal. :37
“It was a really simple idea that you’re in a relationship, at the beginning of the relationship, and in my case, the girl is saying, she just wants reassurance, and I thought I’d love to hear that in a song where the girl says really simple things, like ‘What if I fall?’ And the guy’s like, ‘I won’t let you fall?’ ‘And if I cry?’ ‘I’ll never make you cry.’ ‘And if I get scared?’ The guy says, ‘I’ll hold you tighter, and when they’re trying to get to you, I’ll be the fighter.’ I just liked the simplicity of all that, because that’s been my experience. More often than not, the more real, simple scenario is pretty universal.”

KEITH URBAN PERFORMS THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AS THE NASHVILLE PREDATORS PLAY HOST TO THE ANAHEIM DUCKS DURING GAME 3 OF THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS.

Keith Urban performed the National Anthem before the Nashville Predators played host to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night (May 16th) at Game 3 of the NHL’s Western Conference finals in the run for the Stanley Cup.

In fact, it’s the first time during his 25 years of living in the States to even be asked to perform the Anthem. “Hey, everyone! We’re here at the Preds game. I’ve lived in America for almost 25 years, and I’ve never been asked to sing the national anthem… until tonight. So, it’s a huge honor. Thank you, Preds, for asking me. Go Preds!”

Keith follows Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Vince Gill along with daughters Jenny and Corrina and Lady Antebellum in singing the Anthem during the Preds Stanley Cup Playoff run.

Longtime Preds fan, Dierks Bentley, was feeling a little under the weather, but was definitely  in attendance with his family to cheer on Nashville’s NHL team.

And…of course Carrie Underwood was at Bridgestone Arena to cheer on her hubby Mike Fisher and the rest of the Preds.

And Little Big Town, who sang the National Anthem prior to Game 3 of Round 2, were in attendance as well, celebrating the 2 – 1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.

Luke Bryan (Fast) OC: …in a song. :58
Fastis a song that I got the opportunity to get in the room with Rodney Clawson and Luke Laird and we started it. Luke and Rodney, I mean obviously, their pedigree is quite extensive and amazing. And I’m just so proud about how we used a simple word like Fast and we tied the verses in and then that second verse how we brought in the parents were saying ‘we were falling in love too fast but we still made it work.’ And how life does move too fast. Every time I come home my boys are bigger and starting to throw me around the house a little more, and one day I’ll snap my fingers and you wish you could have froze time a little bit. And I think anytime you can help people slow down and reflect on that and remember to take things in stride a little bit better, I think people love hearing that in a song.”

Audio / Jon Pardi talks about “Dirt on My Boots.”

Download

Jon Pardi (Dirt on My Boots) OC: …that track. :31
“I saw my 22 year old self getting off a tractor and going to take a shower and putting his work boots back on and going and hanging out with a girl and having a good time dancing or something. And I really connected to the lyrics of it. It’s very country lyrics. It has tractors. It has cutting a rug. My favorite [line] — ‘I can get cleaned up, but I can only get so fancy,’ and I loved it. It was a great written country lyric, and I really think we made it more of a traditional feel with a modern flare to it, and I was really proud of that track.”

Audio / Eric Church says “Like a Wrecking Ball” is absolutely about what it says in the song.

Download

Eric Church (Like a Wrecking Ball) OC: …their life. :49
“I hate innuendo. I don’t like where people get cute. I’m 36 years old. I’m not 12. I don’t need people to disguise what we’re talking about. I think we can get so cute with stuff like that. Al Green didn’t get cute. Conway Twitty didn’t get cute. They said it. We’re adults, and this is an adult record. We’ve always made adult music. I like songs like that, and that’s what this song is. This song is about sex. It’s about not being home to see your wife or girl for a long time, and thinking about that, preparing for that and executing that [laughs] is what this song’s about. It has nothing to do with anything else. I mean…that’s what it is, and the honesty of that, I hope people find refreshing, because I’ve not found anybody that hasn’t felt that at some point in time during their life.”

KIP MOORE RAMPS BACK UP, ANNOUNCING A HEADLINING U.K. TOUR.

Kip Moore is getting back into the touring groove following trips to Costa Rica, Iceland, Australia and more, announcing today that he will return to the U.K this fall for a stint of headlining shows. The announcement is sure to be welcomed by Moore’s fervent international fanbase, with his previous headlining shows last spring selling out months in advance, prompting the move to bigger venues and inspiring unforgettable, impromptu post-show jams in the streets.

Moore has also invited Drake White and The Big Fire out on the highly-anticipated run, that will stop in Birmingham, UK (10/2), Manchester, UK (10/3), Glasgow, UK (10/4) and culminate in a special show as part of Country Music Week in London, UK at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 10/6. Country Music Week is a brand new week-long series of shows, created by the organizers of the hugely successful Country To Country music festival.  Moore first connected with fans during his debut performance as part of the festival two years ago, when he turned heads as he “led the 20,000-capacity through a singalong” (Rolling Stone Country.) Tickets to the shows will go on sale on Friday 19th May at 9am GMT here.

2017 is picking up momentum fast for Moore, as he will also return to Ireland later this summer for Harvest 2017, stopping in Westport, IE (8/26) and Enniskillen, IE (8/27.) Co-written by Moore, his new single “More Girls Like You,” and the lead single from his upcoming third album, is the fastest rising single of his career so far. The track is receiving praise from critics such as Taste Of Country, who notes the track “doubles down on a heavy, thumping formula he relied on to create one of the best country albums of 2015” and Entertainment Weekly declaring he “has made a name for himself weaving vignettes of Southern, blue-collar life and love into rollicking country anthems.” As he “consistently serves up clever roots-rock riffs and rhythms that separate Moore from the rock-meets-rap focus of his Nashville peers” (Associated Press), the release of “More Girls Like You” follows the acclaim that surrounded his sophomore album WILD ONES heralded as “an impressively singular release from Music Row” by The Guardian. Moore first turned heads with his debut album UP ALL NIGHT which was certified GOLD by the RIAA and spawned three No. One hit singles including GOLD certified “Beer Money,” PLATINUM certified “Hey Pretty Girl,” and the DOUBLE PLATINUM breakout hit “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck. Following an extended break, Moore is back out on the road playing some of country music’s biggest festivals this year, most recently at Stagecoach in California.  This follows a recent trip to Australia where he was met by a staggering fan base, as well as a characteristically stacked touring schedule last year as he completed his fiercely successful WILD ONES TOUR, that he also unleashed across the pond for headlining sold-out dates in the UK and Ireland. For more information, visit kipmoore.net.

Kip took an extended break earlier this year, which is spotlighted in an exclusive feature by Conde Nast Traveler.

CHRIS STAPLETON SCORES A NO. 1 ALBUM.

Chris Stapleton’s From A Room, Volume 1 debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Albums Chart. The collection sold 219,000 units (and 202,000 in traditional album sales) to land at No. 1 on the Country chart and at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. This is the highest-selling country debut since Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights sold 320,000 in its first week in 2015. Stapleton also debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart this week (Logic’s Everybody sold 196,000 in album sales, but with over 70 million streams).

Chris not only holds the top spot on the Country album chart, but he is also sitting at No. 2 with his previous album, Traveller, which sold nearly 24,000 copies this week. This marks only the second time a male artist has held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the same week since 1993 (when Garth Brooks accomplished that feat December 2016). It’s also the fourth time for any country artist since then (LeAnn Rimes in 2003 and Taylor Swift in 2009). Rounding out the Top 3 this week is Keith Urban’s Ripcord.

Stapleton says he didn’t feel any pressure for his new album even with the double-platinum success of his previous record, Traveller. “I didn’t have any expectations for the last record. I was hoping if we even sold 50,000 records, it’d be a giant victory for me as far as getting to go out and play shows and play live and keep the wheels rolling, but we did a little bit more than that,” says Chris. “So, I kind of feel the same way about this record. It’s a new record and my expectations for this record don’t have much to do with the last record. I want them to be whatever it’s gonna be for this record.

The Kentucky native, who just released his new single “Either Way,” is in the midst of headlining his All-American Road Show. He’s set to play San Diego on Thursday (May 18th), Phoenix on Friday (May 19th) and L.A. on Saturday (May 20th).

Audio / Chris Stapleton says he doesn’t have unrealistic expectations for his new record, From A Room, Volume 1.

Chris Stapleton (album expectations) OC: …when you do that. :33
“You know, I didn’t have any expectations for the last record. I was hoping if we even sold 50,000 records, it’d be a giant victory for me as far as getting to go out and play shows and play live and keep the wheels rolling, but we did a little bit more than that. So, I kind of feel the same way about this record. It’s like, it’s a whole, it’s a new record and my expectations for this record don’t have much to do with the last record. They just, I want them to be whatever it’s gonna be for this record. So, that kind of takes the pressure off when you do that.”
