Luke Grimes (8 song EP) OC: …out with now. :27
“Out of the ones that we have cut so far, those eight just felt, it felt complete as a thing on its own, and it touched on a lot of the bases of the kinds of things that I wanted to say on this first outing. And there was enough sort of different tempos and different feels, and I think, it just felt kind of complete. We just felt like there are some more songs, and we’ll figure those out later, but this felt like the right thing to sort of come out with now.”

DARIUS RUCKER CHANNELS LAW & ORDER DETECTIVE ELLIOT STABLER FOR HIS LATEST VIDEO.

Darius Rucker recently released the official music video for “Fires Don’t Start Themselves,” and the cinematic video casts him as a detective hot on the trail of a young couple whose passionate love is setting their town ablaze, both literally and figuratively.

Darius says he channeled his inner Stabler for the role, referencing Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) from Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime fame.

“When they told me I wasn’t going to do a performance, I was so happy, because that’s so the cliché (for) the video. You have other people acting and then you do the performance,” says Darius. “But when they told me I was going to play a detective, I put on my inner Stabler, because I’m such a Law and Order and CSI fan, so I put on my inner Stabler and went out and did it. And the girl I worked with, she was so fun; she was so funny. And you know that donut scene, when I see it, there’s no words and it still makes me laugh every time I see it.”

The song is featured on his highly anticipated new album, Carolyn’s Boy, set for release on October 6th and named for his late mother as an “homage to the greatest woman I’ve ever known.”

Darius, who is part of ESPN’s College Game Day opening theme with Lainey Wilson and The Cadillac Three, is set to get inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville on October 4th.

Darius Rucker (Fires Don’t Start Themselves video) OC: …happy about that. :46
“I love acting. I love… It’s a lot of fun. And the actors you get to act with are so giving and make it so easy for you and fun and everything. But that video, when they told me I wasn’t going to do any performance, I was so happy, because that’s so the cliché (for) the video. You have other people acting and then you do the performance. But when they told me I was going to play a detective, I put on my inner Stabler, because I’m such a Law and Order and CSI fan, so I put on my inner Stabler and went out and did it. And the girl I worked with, she was so fun; she was so funny. And you know that donut scene, when I see it, there’s no words and it still makes me laugh every time I see it. But yeah, that was a lot of fun and I’d love to do a lot more of that, but, you know, we’ll see if it comes. If it comes, I’ll take it. If not, I’ll keep doing this music thing. I’ll be happy about that.”

MADDIE AND TAE WERE BLOWN AWAY THE FIRST TIME THEY HEARD “HEART THEY DIDN’T BREAK.”

Maddie & Tae are sharing the brand-new track, “Heart They Didn’t Break,” which goes for adds on Monday (September 18th). The song’s lyrics tell a story of true friendship in times of heartbreak, as the pair take turns on lead vocals and weave in their signature harmonies. Written by Benjy Davis, Anna Vaus and Ryan Beaver, the song is produced by Corey Crowder.

After hearing “Heart They Didn’t Break” for the first time, Tae knew the song fit them perfectly. “It did smack us right in the face the first time we heard it,” she recalls. “We were in like a pitch-meeting kind of style room, and they played it, and as soon as the hook hit – ‘friends that are there to fix the heart they didn’t break’ – Maddie and I looked at each other like, ‘Ohhhhh, that’s us! That’s you for me and that’s me for you! How have we not thought of this before?’ But at that time, we weren’t actively cutting. So, it was something that hit home for us, but didn’t go in the studio right away to cut it. But whenever we had started talking about songs for this next project and kind of what we were lacking, I texted our publisher and I was like, ‘What is that friendship song? I can’t remember the name. I just know it’s a friendship song and we need it.’ And then we went in the studio, and I was like, ‘How about I take the second verse?’ And it just kind of all happened so organically and meant to be, for sure.”

Tae has been doing the media rounds herself, as her duo partner, Maddie Font, gave birth to son Forrest Henry on September 9th.

The pair have notched another CMA Duo of the Year nomination, and they are set to perform at Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California in April 2024.

SAM WILLIAMS HONORS GRANDFATHER HANK WILLIAMS’ LEGACY WITH HAUNTING RENDITION OF “I’M SO LONESOME I COULD CRY.”

Today, Nashville singer/songwriter Sam Williams celebrates country pioneer and grandfather Hank Williams’ legacy and 100th birthday with a soothing rendition of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” In true Sam Williams fashion, his beautiful voice is laced with hints of sorrow, vulnerability, and acceptance.

Listen to “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” HERE

Over soft acoustic guitar chords, Williams sings, “Hear that lonesome whippoorwill / He sounds too blue to fly / The midnight train is whining low / I’m so lonesome, I could cry.”

“This song is special to me in many ways. I have always been hesitant to touch recording my grandfather’s songs, as there’s a sacredness to them. I wouldn’t want to do them injustice. ‘I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry’ has always been one of my favorites of his catalog,” Sam shares. “The release coinciding with his centennial birthday is a bittersweet happy birthday gift to the man I never knew that everyone seems to know. It is a reclamation of my name, my destiny in my family’s legacy, and a statement to country music. History and homage, respect, and reinvention, tattered and stolen coattails; I am a most honorable mention.”

In 2021, Williams released his debut LP Glasshouse Children, which received rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Music Row, and more. Holler Country hailed, “This almost faultless debut from 22-year-old Sam Williams has so many fine collaborations and great songs that it’s certainly been worth the wait,” while Associated Press added, “the handful of slow-paced reflective songs fit [Sam’s] own voice and vision nicely.”

Following incredible performances at CMA Fest this summer, the third-generation country music star is currently working on his next album expected in 2024.

Tomorrow, Sam returns to the Grand Ole Opry for a special performance. Gary Mule Deer, Logan Ledger, NEEDTOBREATHE, and more are set to perform. Tickets are available HERE.

Hosted by the Country Music Hall of Fame, Williams will also perform at Hank’s 100th: A Concert in Celebration of Hank Williams, presented by Spotify, on September 21. In celebration of what would’ve been his 100th birthday, this concert will feature a diverse representation of the Americana community— Suzy Bogguss, Laura Cantrell, Della Mae, Rodney Crowell, Brennen Leigh, Delbert McClinton, Charlie McCoy, Chuck Mead, Wendy Moten, Sam Williams, and more to be announced—performing interpretations of Williams classics in various styles, from honky-tonk to bluegrass to rock to R&B. For more information on the program, go HERE.

The grandson of country pioneer Hank Williams and the son of outlaw legend Hank Jr., Sam Williams is the latest in a long line of American originals. He sings with his own singular voice, and he writes in his own singular style, fusing gut-wrenching honesty with plainspoken poetics and raw vulnerability with deep empathy. With another album on the way, Sam Williams continues to prove that he is making a legacy for himself that is completely his own.
