Kacey Musgraves appeared on SiriusXM’s Howard Stern Show earlier this week to talk about her new album, Deeper Well, smoking weed with Willie Nelson and much more. She also performed the title cut, “Rainbow” and Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds,” which is featured on the soundtrack for the recent biopic on the reggae legend’s life, “Bob Marley: One Love,” on the show.

George Strait is mourning the loss of two of his longtime “music family members,” who he lost hours apart on Wednesday (March 21st). First, his manager of 45 years and friend for longer, Erv Woolsey, passed away from complications following surgery; then his Ace In The Hole bandmember Gene Elder passed, as well.

Anne Wilson will perform during the “Opry NextStage Live From Texas” show at Lava Cantina on May 15 at 2:30 p.m. CT in The Colony, Texas. The special Opry event will precede the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16th. Showcasing “Country’s Rising Sound,” the lineup features members of the newly announced Opry NextStage Class of 2024, including Anne, as well as Chase Matthew, Ella Langley, Flatland Cavalry, Madeline Edwards and Wyatt Flores, along with other special guests and host, Jelly Roll.

Dierks Bentley today premieres the music video for his spirited cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” with CMT. The video for the lead single from the forthcoming tribute album, PETTY COUNTRY: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty, opens with Bentley strapping on Petty’s own signature Rickenbacker guitar that was flownin from his archives in California for the shoot.

Shot at Nashville venue Clementine, the performance-forward video focuses on musicianship as Bentley and his band (which includes Charlie Worsham) circle up at golden hour with light pouring into the room, offering up a sense of sanctification and celebrating the fellowship, joy of playing and spirit that defined Tom Petty and his seminal band the Heartbreakers. Directed by Wes Edwards, the clip focuses on Bentley’s rugged features, the appropriate solos and chemistry between road-honed musicians. Their seemingly clubhouse jam is interpolated with Americana images, forward travel and other articles from Petty’s archive, including cases and concert memorabilia.

“Holding an instrument that carries so much musical history and significance was surreal, you could almost feel the stories resonate from it as I played it,” Bentley shared. “Tom Petty’s lyrics and delivery were a huge part of what made his music so impactful.”

Parker McCollum will serve as the headliner for the ACM Lifting Lives LIVE, presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts, the tentpole fundraising event of ACM Awards Week, which brings together artists, industry members, and fans for an all-star concert. The event will take place on the golfing green at Topgolf The Colony on May 15th, ahead of the 59th ACM Awards® the following evening.

In its second year in Texas, Parker McCollum and Friends: ACM Lifting Lives LIVE, Presented by Choctaw Casinos & Resorts will raise money and awareness for ACM Lifting Lives, which works to improve lives through the power of music with a specific focus on health-related initiatives that use music therapy as a way of healing. Significant annual commitments include the ACM Lifting Lives Autism Lab at Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and their annual Music Camp, a week-long, music-driven, residential program for individuals with Williams syndrome. Their work also includes contributions to various organizations that provide mental health support for the country music community, along with grants through The Diane Holcomb Emergency Relief Fund, given to individuals who face unexpected emergencies or hardships.

Due to extraordinary demand, 8-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood has added a second show on July 20th to her first-ever concert appearance in Hawaii.  Just announced last week, tickets for the July 19th performance of “An Evening With Carrie Underwood” at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena sold out in under one hour, and a second show was added.

This show in Hawaii will be the 50^th U.S. state where Underwood has performed a concert.  It will mark her second time in Hawaii, though her first time performing a concert there, having filmed the movie, Soul Surfer, in the Aloha State in 2010.  Underwood and Garth Brooks are the only country artists to sell out Blaisdell Arena in under an hour.

Jordan Davis is from a very musical family. His brother Jacob Davis is a singer-songwriter, his uncle Stan Paul Davis is a celebrated songwriter (Tracy Lawrence, Ken Mellons) and his father used to write songs, as well. Growing up, Jordan would listen to songs his uncle would play for him, and he dreamed of going to Nashville to write hit songs.

“Growing up in a musical family – my uncle was a songwriter and had songs written for Tracy Lawrence, and I can remember us celebrating his first-ever number-one, and that was a country radio number-one. I feel like I fell in love with songwriting because of the songs that he would play coming back for holidays – Christmas, Thanksgiving,” says Jordan.

Jordan has several number-one songs, multi-platinum records and awards, but he still loves hearing his songs on country radio. “I moved to Nashville to have songs on country radio, and still to this day, there’s no better feeling in the world than driving around with my kiddos and Dad comes on the radio,” he says. “You don’t have to go to it, you don’t have to click on anything. You’re driving around listening to Carrie Underwood, then all of a sudden, a song that you wrote, that you’re singing, is coming through the car speakers on country radio. That’s something that will never get old to me.”

Jordan is currently on country radio with his latest hit, “Tucson Too Late,” which he co-wrote with his brother Jacob and brothers Josh and Matt Jenkins, the same dream team behind “Buy Dirt.”

Kacey Musgraves’ highly anticipated fifth studio album Deeper Well is out now via Interscope/MCA Nashville. The seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter produced Deeper Well with long time collaborators Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, and the project was primarily recorded in New York’s famed Electric Lady Studios. It takes us “inside the song” as Musgraves records it, where we have to wonder, as she does in the lyrics, if what we are seeing on the screen is real or simply “too good to be true” and the projected fantasy of what we dearly want and hope it to be. Stereogum called the track “a soft, intimate, supremely chill acoustic song,” while Euphoria described it as “calming, enchanting and what dreams are made of.”
