  • ERIC CHURCH CELEBRATES THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED HEART & SOUL TRIPLE ALBUM WITH EXCLUSIVE BOX SETS.

In the year since the April 2021 release of his triple album, Heart & Soul, the man praised by Stereogum as “our greatest working rock star” has earned his 10th career GRAMMY nomination as well as his fourth and fifth Entertainer of the Year nominations from the ACM and CMA, respectively, while taking Gold-certified single “Hell of a View” to the top of the charts at country radio with “Heart On Fire” also hitting the Top 5. To celebrate the anniversary of the ambitious project, Eric Church now offers two exclusive box sets of the project in limited quantities – including the chance for the general public to purchase the Church Choir exclusive middle album, &, for the first time.

In addition to all three albums pressed on a unique splattered colored vinyl, the Standard Box Set priced at $89.99 also includes one of three limited-edition numbered posters in each set. The Super Deluxe Box Set priced at $349.99 also features the three records and all three limited-edition numbered posters with a special foil print not found anywhere else as well as a slip mat, hemp tote bag, coaster set, record brush, exclusive liner book that includes never before seen photos of the recording process, studio and writers and an exclusive note from Church. For more information and to purchase both sets, visit heartandsoul.ericchurch.com.

“I’ve always been intrigued when a song is born in a writer room – there is a magic that happens there,” shared Church of the unique process that went into creating the triple album when first announcing the project. “I wanted to put that in the studio form. So, every day, we would write a song in the morning and we would record the song that night… The interesting thing about this process is that Jay kept asking me the last three or four days, ‘Are we done?’ and at that time I didn’t know what the project was. I kept saying ‘God, this is going to be really hard. There’s a lot here. Is this a double album? And if it’s a double album, how do we leave out these five or six songs?’ I am the hardest critic on making sure every song deserves to be on the record, and I beat this thing to death going ‘this can’t be that good.’ But it was just a special, special time and a special, special project that I think will be among our best.”

Indeed, both the industry and critics agreed, with the relentless pace of songs first rolled out from the ambitious project in 2020 helping to propel him to that year’s CMA Entertainer of the Year title and the project going on to be named among 2021’s best by Rolling StoneBillboardStereogumTennesseanNashville SCENETaste of CountryThe BootSounds Like NashvilleSaving Country Music, Whiskey Riff and more.

The Wall Street Journal celebrated the project from the man who is “knowledgeable and respectful of country’s history, but not shackled by it” as “pointed, memorable recordings for tough times, with frankness, hope—and engaging sounds,” while Entertainment Weekly remarked that “the albums feature some of the most liberating and freewheeling work of the [44]-year-old country star’s career” and Rolling Stone declared that with Heart & Soul, “the Nashville maverick delivers his biggest, boldest statement,” offering further proof that “no recent country artist has maneuvered the Nashville system as successfully, remaining dedicated to the power of down-the-center hitmaking even as he’s helped expand the parameters of the genre.”

Church continues to expand such parameters in his live shows as well, taking The Gather Again Tour across the U.S. and Canada to critical acclaim while announcing two distinct one-night-only stadium concerts at Milwaukee’s American Family Field on May 28 and Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium on June 11.

    About Eric Church
Eric Church spent last year releasing new music at a relentless pace; sharing the results of a marathon session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day while sequestered in rural North Carolina – including his latest Gold-certified No. 1 “Hell of a View” and current Top 5-and-climbing single “Heart On Fire.” The resulting critically acclaimed and chart-topping three-part project, Heart & Soul, is available everywhere now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium in 2021 to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and has now returned to the road for his 55-city The Gather Again Tour, visiting full-capacity arenas for an in-the-round show. He also headlined the recent ATLive festival at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with George Strait for a special night of “The King & The Chief” and will headline two one-of-a-kind stadium shows this summer; May 28 in Milwaukee in June 11 in Minneapolis.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner (including the 2020 award for Entertainer of the Year) and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous project, the Gold-certified Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Prior releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”)as well as 30 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

Audio / ERIC CHURCH EXPLAINS WHY HE NAMED HIS NEW MULTI-ALBUM PROJECT, HEART & SOUL.

    Download

Eric Church (Heart & Soul) OC: …Heart & Soul is. 1:55
Heart & Soul — I think that everybody wants to know why Heart & Soul and it’s interesting. I think for me, I didn’t go in there trying to make two albums or three albums. That is not what I tried to do; that is not what this was about. But I think it was about a moment, and what I found when I listened back to the project is there were a lot of songs that had heart in them or cars or guitars or music, and I think that’s because that’s what was on my mind at the time. And what I found that was interesting is there were two groups that they were this kind of song and then this kind of song that kind of grouped together. And then there was this middle five or six songs and I didn’t know where they went. They were cool. And then the thought was raised — do they belong together and that’s the first time that three albums came out. I would initially have said nah. I’m a cynic. I’m a music guy. If you tell me you made three albums, I say well you made one decent one. Just me. That’s not what this is. These are three different feels. These are three different things. They sound the same because they were made in the same moment, but they group up different. And yes, we could have done just Heart and Soul and there would have been six songs that didn’t make it anywhere. But I don’t think that’s right. I think that if you listen to them, they have their own thing. They belong in their own spot. And that’s what ended up at least conceptually with what Heart & Soul is.”

  • BILL ANDERSON TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM AS FAR AS I CAN SEE: THE BEST OF ON JUNE 10th.

Country Music Hall of Famer Bill Anderson will release a new album of some of the famed singer/songwriter’s hits, As Far As I Can See: The Best Of, on June 10th.  Preorder HEREThe collection of sixteen songs shares its name with the current exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame, Bill Anderson: As Far As I Can See, and comes from the opening line of one of the first songs he ever wrote, “City Lights,” the country classic that was a hit for Ray Price in 1958 In addition to such beloved songs as “City Lights,” “Still,” Po’ Folks,” The Tip Of My Fingers,” and “Sometimes,” the album features a new song with country icon Dolly Parton, “Someday It’ll All Make Sense.” The newly recorded duet is joined by Anderson and Parton’s first-ever collaboration, an incredibly rare demo of “If It Is All The Same To You,” recorded in 1964 and eventually released as a duet with Jan Howard on Anderson’s chart-topping 1969 album of the same name. As Far As I Can See: The Best Of, is being released by MCA Nashville/UMe, which has been Anderson’s label home for most of his seven-decade long career.  The new project is being released in conjunction with the first-time digital release of seven of Anderson’s albums from the 1960s, available HERE.

“Needless to say I am thrilled over my new association with UMG.  Not only do they have 23 years’ worth of my back catalog ready to introduce to the digital world, but I am reuniting with Dolly Parton on this project,” says Anderson.  “Dolly sang some demos for me (and with me) back in the early sixties when she was new in town. One was a duet called, “If It’s All The Same To You,” which had gone missing for years. UMG has recovered it and included it along with my and Dolly’s new duet in this package. That’s called connecting the dots across more than fifty years. How cool is that?”

    ABOUT BILL ANDERSON:
Country Music Hall of Famer and Grand Ole Opry titan Bill Anderson is the rare songwriter whose first major label cut went to No. 1 on the charts, was named Song of The Year and sparked a writing career that is currently in its seventh decade. The song, “City Lights,” was written when Anderson was a 19-year-old Georgia disc jockey and became a career-defining hit for Ray Price in 1958.  The song opened doors for him in Nashville, leading him to signing with BMI and Tree Publishing. Anderson was far from a one-hit wonder. He followed “City Lights” with country standards like “The Tip Of My Fingers,” the GRAMMY-nominated “Once A Day,” “Saginaw, Michigan,” “That’s What It’s Like To Be Lonesome,” “I Missed Me,” “Cold Hard Facts Of Life,” which earned him another GRAMMY nomination, “Mama Sang A Song,” the crossover smash, “Still,” and countless others. He was voted country Songwriter of the Year six times during his first decade in Music City. His success continued into the 1970s with award-winning hits like “Slippin’ Away,” “The Lord Knows I’m Drinking,” “I May Never Get To Heaven,” and the disco-flavored, “I Can’t Wait Any Longer.” The 1980s saw Anderson’s chart-topping career take a hiatus as he became a TV network game show host, spokesman for a national restaurant chain and a nonstop touring Grand Ole Opry performer. In the 1990s he came roaring back with a vengeance, however, as he seriously turned to co-writing for the first time. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001, his collaborations with the newer generation of Nashville tunesmiths resulted in hits like “Wish You Were Here,” the GRAMMY-nominated “Two Teardrops,” “A Lot Of Things Different,” for Kenny Chesney, “Which Bridge To Cross (Which Bridge To Burn),” for Vince Gill and two CMA Song Of The Year trophies for “Whiskey Lullaby,” with Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss and George Strait’s “Give It Away,” in 2005 and 2007 respectfully. He continues to write today with songs like Brad Paisley’s “Dying To See Her.” For more information, visit BillAnderson.com.

Bill Anderson (on UMG) OC: …at UMG. :36
“Well, I’m excited about this project for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that being on UMG Records is sort like going home for me because UMG back when I started in the late ’50s was Decca Records, then it became MCA Records, and I was part of that company for 23 years. I did over 40 albums for the company, and now to think that the new generation is going back and digging through some of those old records and bringing them to light again and releasing them in a format that wasn’t even known of back in the day. It’s really incredible. I am so excited and so happy to be a part of the team at UMG.”

Bill Anderson (title of album) OC: …could see that far. (laughs) :38
“I guess the title goes back to the very first hit song that I ever wrote called ‘City Lights.’ The opening line of ‘City Lights’ is ‘the brighter ray of City Lights as far as I can see,’ and they just pulled ‘as far as I can see’ out when the Hall of Fame decided to do a Bill Anderson exhibit in 2021, and tying it in and making everything the same title with the record album, the exhibit at the Hall of Fame, the line from the song – it just sort of all made sense. But with all that’s been happening over the last few months with the new record and the exhibit, I never could see that far.” (laughs)

Bill Anderson (Dolly) 1 OC: …about it. :42
“Well, the first time I heard Dolly’s voice come in singing on this song, the line about ‘right now I’ve got questions without any answers,’ my goodness (laughs). I got chillbumps all over. What a wonderful thing for her to do. I understand she really likes the song. I haven’t talked to her about it actually since she recorded it, but she seems to like the song a lot and certainly she put a lot into it and added an awful lot to the record. I was really pleased with how well our voices blended. Of course, I recorded my track first and then she recorded hers, but she sang right along with me, and our voices had a unique blend that kind of reminds me of the old Porter and Dolly records, and that’s about as good a thing that I can say about it.”

Chris Stapleton proves you can go home again, and he did so in a huge way this past weekend. Chris Stapleton (getting back on the road after COVID) OC: …it again. :28
“Well, you certainly gain an appreciation for what we had lost, which was getting to interact with people every night and hear people sing songs back to you and see smiles on their faces and people having a good time and the communion that that brings. It’s a wonderful thing. And we certainly missed it. It was 504 days, I think, we didn’t play a show. So, we were certainly counting the days and the hours until we got to do it again.”

  • PRISCILLA BLOCK LOOKS UP TO ANOTHER MULTI-TALENTED BLONDE SINGER.

It was a dream-come-true moment for Priscilla Block when she got to meet and talk with the iconic Dolly Parton as she co-hosted the red carpet at this year’s ACM Awards in Las Vegas. The pair definitely have a few things in common, including a songwriting gift, being talented performers and musicians and both petite songstresses have blonde hair. Priscilla admires and respects the global superstar and business woman for many things, including her talent.

“I would say one female country legend that I look up to would be Dolly Parton,” she says. “I love how honest she is and she’s always just embraced who she is as a woman, and I love that so much. Big hair, big hoops and…you know what’s next. (laughs) I love me some Dolly.”

Priscilla is currently making her way across the country on her Welcome To The Block Party Tour, as well as heading up the country charts with her latest song, “My Bar.”

  • DIERKS BENTLEY IS THE HOST WITH THE MOST AT SEVEN PEAKS.

Dierks Bentley, who just scored his 21st No. 1 single with “Beers On Me,” is excited to be back after two years with his Seven Peaks Festival. The three-day musical event will take place this Labor Day Weekend (September 2nd – September 4th) at the new location of Villa Grove, Colorado.

Dierks has a packed schedule during the festival, but that’s just the way he likes it. Not only does he headline one night, but he’s also hosting the entire event, as well. “I almost forget that I’m playing the festival,” he says. “You know, I’m so busy running around and try for every band to just let them know, ‘Hey, I’m the guy that’s putting this on,’ and I’m not just backstage hanging on my bus. I go to see, I only missed like one or two performances in 2019, that’s just because of a meet and greet I was doing or something. So, I go watch everybody. You know, I get up on stage and I sing with a lot of people. I’m out in the campgrounds a lot, you know, and then all of a sudden, it’s like, Oh, Sunday night, like, I actually have to play a show to watch this year, like hosting this. I’m also like, I got to go up and do the whole thing, kind of switch gears.”

The lineup includes Morgan Wallen, with additional main stage performances by Boy Named Banjo, Ashley Cooke, Jordan Davis, Jackson Dean, Travis Denning, HARDY,  Kendell Marvel, Ashley McBryde, Old Crow Medicine Show, Caitlyn Smith, Rapidgrass, Alana Springsteen and Lainey Wilson. Friday night of the festival will kick off with a special stacked lineup of 90’s acts including Hot Country Knights, Tracy Lawrence, The Frontmen and Pam Tillis, while AYDAMN will be deejaying throughout the weekend. Passes are now on sale at sevenpeaksfestival.com.

I’m also like, I got to go up and do the whole thing, kind of switch gears. So, yeah, a lot of it’s just hosting, but then yeah, our set list, it’s going to be similar to what we do on the rest of the tour because there’s that much time that goes in that particular setlist. I’m not really trying to change up the set list a lot night after night. I just went like a month of working to getting exactly right set list with little sections that make it different if I choose to add a new song or do something specific to that town. But we really try to put on the best show and then present that to different audiences every night…So, it’s going to be mostly that. But yeah, obviously guests are gonna get up to sing with us, and that’s a different deal than usual where there are so many friends sticking around.”
