• MICKEY GUYTON TO PERFORM ON TODAY SUMMER CONCERT SERIES, THE TONIGHT SHOW AND THE VIEW.

Capitol Records Nashville’s Mickey Guyton releases her debut album Remember Her Name this Friday (September 24th). On release day, she is set to perform on NBC’s TODAY Summer Concert Series followed by NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (September 27th) and ABC’s The View on September 28th.

Featured on Sunday’s (Sept. 19) The New York Times Arts & Leisure music cover, Guyton shares, “There’s so much on this record that is so positive, that is so inclusive,” while the outlet says, “Though it tackles some deeply scarred subject matter, ‘Remember Her Name’ is, at heart, a fundamentally optimistic album, from its resolute lyrical stands on decency and empathy to its production, which is often reminiscent of the majestic, big-tent country music of the 1990s.”

Guyton, who is currently nominated for CMA New Artist of the Year, also has her episode of “Live from My Den,” an Artists Den intimate concert streaming now exclusively on Variety.

Guyton co-penned 15 of the 16 songs on Remember Her Name including the recently released “Love My Hair,” “All American,” which she performed on ABC’s CMA Summer Jam earlier this month, title track “Remember Her Name,” and Grammy-nominated “Black Like Me.”

Guyton is coming off an incredible year that saw her co-hosting the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards in April with labelmate Keith Urban, a historic performance and nomination for “Black Like Me” on the 63rd GRAMMY Awards in March and “Black Like Me” being named a Top 5 song of 2020 (all genre) by NPR and Associated Press.

Billboard recently featured Guyton on its cover and The New Yorker also profiled her in a recent issue.  Over the last year she has been featured in American Songwriter, BBC News, CBS This Morning, Disney+ Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts, Ebony, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, Essence, HITS, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine’s Vulture, The New York Times, PEOPLE, Pollstar, Rolling Stone, Today Show, USA Today, Variety, VIBE, Vogue, Washington Post and many more.

  • PARKER MCCOLLUM RELEASES SPOTIFY SONG OF THE GEORGE STRAIT CLASSIC “CARRYING YOUR LOVE WITH ME.”

Today rising country star Parker McCollum released his own version of fellow Texan George Strait’s classic “Carrying Your Love with Me,” as part of a campaign launching today by Spotify which celebrates one of the most iconic decades of country music: The 90s. As fans return to listening to songs and albums of that decade in droves, Spotify is honoring those timeless classics with a microsite, Spotify Singles, video content, and more. Featured as one of three 90s Spotify Singles, Parker McCollum’s reimagined version of “Carrying Your Love With Me,” which was a hit by Strait in 1997, was recently recorded in Nashville.

“George Strait has been my favorite country singer my whole life. I wasn’t going to pass on the chance from Spotify to cover one of his songs,” says McCollum.  “This song is such a classic staple in country music so I was really hoping we could get it right and do the song justice. I think we did. I sure hope he and (producer) Tony Brown would think so too if they heard it.”

According to unique user data from Spotify, US streams of the 90s Country playlist have grown 150% since 2018, and 70% among Gen-Z users in that time. Additionally, there are currently 89 million playlists from Gen-Z users containing iconic 90s Country tracks. Spotify also found that as many fans between 19-24 listen to Spotify’s 90s Country playlist as fans over 45.  That means interest in 90s Country is just as prevalent amongst fans who were just born or not born yet than it is amongst fans who were young adults at the time, showing the timeless nature of these songs.

  • ERIC CHURCH AND 30,000+ GATHER AGAIN AS TOUR KICKS OFF IN LEXINGTON & COLUMBUS.

Nearly 700 days since wrapping his critically acclaimed Double Down Tour, reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year (and current repeat nominee) Eric Church stepped to the microphone in Lexington, Ky. on Friday evening to officially launch The Gather Again Tour with a show two years in the making.

Prowling around his brand-new 2,400 square foot multi-level stage, positioned in the center of the arena floor for his first-ever in-the-round set up, Church launched into three and a half hours of music spanning his impressive decade-plus catalogue of both hits and deep cuts beloved by his loyal Church Choir.

From multi-Platinum-certified singles including “Talladega” and “Drink In My Hand” to fan favorites like “Chattanooga Lucy” and “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag” as well as a sampling of the 24 songs making up his latest chart topping project, Heart & Soul, the current CMA Male Vocalist of the Year nominee’s vocals shone through stronger than ever after the unexpected time away from the road.

Indeed, Church continued well past the end of the intended set list each night in response to the crowds palpable energy, with Friday’s performance eventually transitioning from a “Born to Run” rendition into his 6x Platinum-certified “Springsteen,” thrilling the crowd with a personalized chorus of “a soundtrack to a Lexington Friday night” before pausing mid-song to describe the opening night celebration as “the tip of the spear for what this tour is” and proclaiming: “We are made to gather – and gather we did and gather we shall!”

The congregation continued Saturday evening in Columbus, Ohio with a brand-new set list as Church remains committed to giving fans in each city a completely unique experience.

The Lexington Herald-Leader raved of the “energetic 40-song bonanza” that was opening night: “the entire show possessed an intriguing stylistic variance” and “was massively audience-friendly” while the Columbus Dispatch celebrated the way Church “treated the arena like his own personal honky-tonk, keeping the evening loose and likeable rather than bombastic or tightly controlled” as he “combined the storytelling power of country music with the energy and anarchy of rock.”

The Gather Again Tour continues with 55 additional dates to come as Church visits cities throughout the U.S. and Canada into 2022. Tickets to all dates, including the grand finale at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden, are on sale now at EricChurch.com.

All tour dates will enforce local venue and/or city guidelines regarding COVID-19 precautions. Church will be touring with a fully vaccinated crew.

    About Eric Church
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and 10-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church has spent the past year releasing new music at a relentless pace; providing a glimpse into the results of a marathon writing session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day – including his latest Gold-certified No. 1 single “Hell of a View” and current single “Heart On Fire” – while sequestered in rural North Carolina, and fueling speculation around his critically acclaimed, chart-topping new three-part project, Heart & Soul, available everywhere now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During his last outing, 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium in February of this year to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and has now returned to the road for his 55-city The Gather Again Tour, visiting full-capacity arenas for an in-the-round show in addition to a headlining spot alongside George Strait and Metallica during the ATLive festival at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this November.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous album, the Gold-certified Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Previous releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”)as well as 29 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

  • KEITH URBAN TO BE HONORED WITH COUNTRY RADIO BROADCASTERS 2021 ARTIST CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.

Multi-award-winning artist Keith Urban has been announced as the recipient of the 2021 CRB Artist Career Achievement Award, recognizing Urban for his continuous meritorious work and outstanding accomplishments.

CRB/CRS Board President, Kurt Johnson, commented about the award and this year’s honoree, saying, “Only a very select group of artists ascends to the level of this award. They do it by combining years of uncompromised brilliant performance with sustained success. As Keith continues to reach new creative heights every year, let’s pause to celebrate him. Be there October 13 when we recognize him for all he has achieved…so far. It will be an unforgettable moment.”

Keith Urban is one of the most successful and well-respected artists in the world. He’s won four GRAMMY© Awards, thirteen CMAs, fifteen ACMs, three AMAs, two People’s Choice Awards, and celebrated nine consecutive gold, platinum, or multi-platinum albums. His musical talents have led to 24 #1’s, 43 Top 10 singles in the U.S., 27 #1’s in Canada, and numerous other chart-topping placements in Australia, the U.K., and other countries worldwide. It comes on the heels of “One Too Many” (his duet with P!nk), the last from The Speed of Now Part 1, which marked his fourth in a historic streak of simultaneous #1 album debuts in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

He’s also long supported numerous charities, making him a beloved figure among many philanthropic communities. His “All For The Hall” benefit concerts for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum© have raised over $4.2 million. He is the first Ambassador of the CMA Foundation, an advisory board member at the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and is a longtime supporter of The Mr. Holland’s Opus Fund and The Grammy Foundation.

Universal Music Group Nashville Chairman and CEO Mike Dungan will present Urban with the award during the Country Radio Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Awards Ceremony on October 13 at The Westin in Nashville, Tenn.

  • REBA McENTIRE HELPS PAY TRIBUTE TO “THE GAMBLER” KENNY ROGERS IN A STAR-STUDDED TRIBUTE THIS WEEK.

Reba McEntire is among the superstars paying tribute to Kenny Rogers during the new concert special, Kenny Rogers: All In For The Gambler, on Thursday (September 23rd). Reba says he was a good friend and absolutely saved her sanity after the tragic plane crash in March 1991 resulting in the deaths of several of her band members — Chris Austin, Kirk Cappello, Joey Cigainero, Paula Kaye Evans, Jim Hammon, Terry Jackson, Anthony Saputo, and Michael Thomas as well as with the pilot and co-pilot – when he asked her to be in The Gambler 5 (The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw).

She said, “I worked with Kenny in 1991. It was right after the plane crash, and Kenny’s manager called Narvel (Blackstock) and asked, ‘Would Reba be interested in doing Gambler 5?’ And Narvel said, ‘I don’t know.’ I said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ It probably saved my sanity to get out of Nashville and go to California and work and be absorbed in dialogue and work and get up early, work hard and by the time you’re ready to go to bed, you went to sleep, which wasn’t happening.”

A side note – Reba first met her now-boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, on the set of The Gambler.

Reba also toured Australia for the first time when she opened for Kenny. She enjoyed spending time with him and said, “Kenny was funny, told the best stories, the best jokes, and I just loved being in his presence.”

Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Idina Menzel and many others will also honor Kenny’s life and legacy during the celebration that was filmed before Rogers’ untimely passing. Kenny Rogers: All In For The Gambler airs Thursday (September 23rd) at 9pm ET on CBS.

Audio / Reba McEntire says working on The Gambler 5 saved her sanity after the tragic plane crash that took the lives of several of her band members in March 1991.

“I worked with Kenny in 1991. It was right after the plane crash, and Kenny’s manager called Narvel and asked, ‘Would Reba be interested in doing Gambler 5?’ And Narvel said, ‘I don’t know.’ I said, ‘Yes, absolutely.’ It probably saved my sanity to get out of Nashville and go to California and work and be absorbed in dialogue and work and get up early, work hard and by the time you’re ready to go to bed, you went to sleep, which wasn’t happening. And so, I went out there, and that’s the first time I met (now boyfriend) Rex Linn. We worked together on the movie, on The Gambler movie with Kenny Rogers.”

Audio / Reba McEntire loved being around her good friend Kenny Rogers.

Reba McEntire (Kenny Rogers) 2 OC: …to a good friend. :22
“I just loved Kenny. Kenny was a super person. I toured Australia with him. That was my first trip and then went back on my own. But Kenny was funny, told the best stories, the best jokes, and I just loved being in his presence. So, when they asked if we would do the tribute, I said, absolutely to a good friend.”
