• JOSH TURNER TO RELEASE DEBUT CHRISTMAS PROJECT KING SIZE MANGER ON OCTOBER 8 AND SETS HOLIDAY TOUR.

Multi-platinum-selling recording artist Josh Turner is releasing his first-ever Christmas album, King Size Manger, October 8th on MCA Nashville.  The holiday project features fresh interpretations of the classics and introduces four originals, three of which were written or co-written by Turner. Plus, Turner is joined by very special guests including Turner’s wife and four boys singing a holiday classic, a family tradition Turner wanted to feature on this special album. In support of the album, Turner will embark on a 16-city Holiday & The Hits Tour, culminating at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, where the album will come to life alongside Turner’s most notable hits.

“Making a Christmas record can be a mighty daunting task for an artist,” says Turner. “There are so many songs to choose from and there’ve been so many versions of those songs throughout history. It can be intimidating to know whether you’ll be able to measure up to what’s already been done and when I get to that point, I step back and remind myself that I have to do what I hear in my heart. You may be surprised to hear my arrangement on some of these songs that you know so well.  We had a lot of fun throwing out all the preconceived notions of what a Christmas record should sound like. In my opinion, it’s about the words and the heart and soul of how a song sounds. You don’t need jingle bells on a song to make it a Christmas song.”

Turner arranged five of the 11 tracks on King Size Manger and its four original songs include the solo penned “Mele Kalikimaka My ‘Ohana” featuring world renowned ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro and Grammy-nominated Hawaiian trio Ho’okena. Turner also wrote “What He’s Given Me” with Pat McLaughlin, as well as the title track “King Size Manger” with Mark Narmore. The album also includes the poignant Travis Hill/Tom Douglas track “Soldier’s Gift.” Christmas music fans will also find the beloved classics “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” which features Turner’s wife Jennifer and his four children, as well as “Joy To The World” featuring Rhonda Vincent the queen of bluegrass.

  • LUKE BRYAN MAKES “WAVES” AS SONG RIPPLES TO TOP OF CHARTS AS 27th CAREER #1 SINGLE.

Five-Time Entertainer of the Year and country music superstar Luke Bryan landed the 27th #1 single of his career today as “Waves” ripples to the top of the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts. The song was written by Zach Crowell, Ryan Hurd and Chase McGill and is the fifth #1 single off Luke’s BORN HERE LIVE HERE DIE HERE album.

Luke told Billboard, “It’s crazy to know we are five singles deep off the ‘Born Here Live Here Die Here’ album. The longevity that country radio and my fans have given my career truly means a lot. I have never taken for granted that I get to make my living doing something that makes me so happy. Thank you for this #1 and loving a song about summer love!”

“Waves” debuted at country radio in April as the most added song in the nation and Luke performed it for the first time on television on Good Morning America to promote the release of the deluxe edition of his BORN HERE LIVE HERE DIE HERE album. Combined, those projects boast FIVE #1 singles: “Waves,” “Down To One,” “One Margarita,” “What She Wants Tonight,” and “Knockin’ Boots.”

The BORN HERE LIVE HERE DIE HERE album originally debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart last summer, making it Luke’s sixth consecutive appearance in the top position. The album became his eleventh top 10 album on Billboard’s Top 200 since his first appearance with 2009’s DOIN’ MY THING.

Luke’s “Proud To Be Right Here Tour,” named after a line in the album’s title track, is scheduled through the fall.

Airing now, fans can see Luke’s original five-part docuseries Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary, on IMDb TV, Amazon’s premium free streaming service. It features a new song Luke co-wrote with Luke Laird and Josh Osborne, “Songs You Never Heard,” in honor of his late brother Chris, who was always Luke’s biggest supporter of chasing his musical dreams. The song is available digitally HERE.

Luke Bryan (Waves) 2 OC: …summer song. :35 “Well, I mean ‘Waves’ is vocally and production-wise, it’s not something really that I’ve ever done, you know? The first time I heard ‘Waves,’ I was like, ‘Hey, this sounds like a big summer…’ I always like to have a big summer song out there, and ‘Waves’ certainly really checks a lot of those boxes and talks about the love of summer and being at the beach. The main thing is vocally, I loved doing something different like that, and production-wise, I just thought it was a new sound for me. I think ‘Waves’ was just a right pick for the right kind of summer song.”

Jordan Davis (Luke Bryan on Buy Dirt) OC: …my songs now. 1:13
“I met Luke three or four years ago at an awards show after party, and got to hang with him, but I really kind of got to sit and talk with him after a round of golf one day, and we just really talked about everything under the sun aside from music. Luke kind of embodies what that song is. You know a lot of people get to see Luke on American Idol or on stage, but Luke Bryan really is a great guy. I sent him a message one day, a text message actually attached with the song, and I was like, ‘Hey Luke, I wrote this. It means a lot to me. You came to mind whenever I was thinking about it, through the writing process, and this song just kind of says what you’re about, and if you want to sing on it, great, no pressure. Don’t even feel the need to text me back or whatever. Just listen to it and let me know.’ And he got right back with me. He’s like, ‘Man I love the song. Let me live with it for a couple of days.’ And he called me back four or five days later and was like, ‘When do you want me singing on this thing?’ That was a pretty cool moment. I’m such a big fan of Luke, and he’s been a huge influence on me since I moved to Nashville, and pretty cool to have him on one of my songs now.”

    About Boy Named Banjo:
Long before Boy Named Banjo, two of the founding members of the genre-bending band grew up a mile down the road from each other in Nashville. William Reames and Willard Logan both picked up the guitar at an early age, took lessons from the same teacher in town, and played in the same middle school band together.

A shared love for bluegrass, folk, and singer/songwriter music sparked a new musical friendship between Reames and banjo player, Barton Davies. The two young musicians enthusiastically bounced songs off each other, discovering some of their favorite artists together, such as The Steeldrivers, John Hartford, and more. Before long, they were writing and performing songs of their own, and at the age of 16, they decided to form their own band. Only, they needed a mandolin player. That’s when they called Logan – and the two longtime friends, and now Davies, were bandmates once again.

“We were still too young to step foot inside a bar when we first started to play,” Davies recalls, “so we’d set up shop on the sidewalk outside of Robert’s Western World in downtown Nashville and play our own songs for whomever would listen.” According to Davies – about halfway through one of their sets, a man came stumbling out of Robert’s, got in Barton’s face and yelled “play that thing, Banjo Boy! C’mon, Banjo!” Reames texted Davies later that night – “Boy Named Banjo.”

With a brand-new name and a handful of original songs, the trio recorded The Tanglewood Sessions, giving fans an inside look into the lives of the young outfit and receiving unexpected praise. In 2013, Boy Named Banjo invited drummer Sam McCullough to join the group, before recording their sophomore album, Long Story Short (2014). The band earned a spot in their first major music festival, performing at Bonnaroo in 2015. Shortly after releasing their Lost on Main EP in 2016, Boy Named Banjo found its missing piece, bass guitarist Ford Garrard. The group hit the road and haven’t stopped touring since. Boy Named Banjo has crafted a sound that incorporates an energetic blend of country, bluegrass, alt-rock, and folk-pop telling their stories through an honest, emotional, roots-driven perspective.

  • LUKE BRYAN CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF HIS SMASH ALBUM, TAILGATES AND TANLINES.

Luke Bryan is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of his album, Tailgates and Tanlines. The collection, which has been certified four-times platinum, is the third studio album and was released on August 9th, 2011. The Georgia native co-wrote eight of the album’s thirteen tracks including the record’s first single, “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”

“When you get into your third album, and you’re lucky enough to get to a third album, you just get more seasoned and a little more calm about the experience. You take the things you did right and wrong from your other two, and you make mental notes and try to do, you know, do all the things that you liked and roll into this album,” says Luke. “You know, there were times on my first two albums, [when] we were really pressured and up against the wall to get it done, so a lot of times I would go in and sing and my voice wouldn’t really feel as good as I wanted it to that day. But on this album, if I went in and it wasn’t happenin’, you know, I would just turn around and walk down, and I was like, ‘We’ll get it when it’s time.’ Little things like that that you learn, you know. I was able to take some songs that didn’t make ‘Doin’ My Thing’ and kind of hold them because I knew there was a proper time for them to come out and we’d put them on this album. And like I said, you get a little smarter about all of the, all of the aspects of making an album. You can, you can go back and make sure you don’t make the same mistakes twice and, um, and you know, I mean I know it even with the success with Doin’ My Thing, you know, there are little things I wanted to change about it and I made sure on this album I didn’t do it again and it makes the, I look back and I’m like, ‘Man, there isn’t one song that I would want to take off this album.” Everything had its place and that’s exciting, that’s what makes it fun to have recorded the album.”

Luke also celebrated the release of his IMDbTV docuseries, My Dirt Road Diary, this past Friday (August 6th). He’s also on the road with his Proud To Be Right Here Tour, which makes stops in Maryland and New York this weekend. Click here for more info on the tour.
