Vince Gill responded to Luke Combs‘ “Deep Cut Challenge” with an old Bob McDill tune “Last Dance at the Old Texas Moon.” He preceded the acoustic performance with a challenge to Faith Hill.

Today, EMI Records Nashville’s Brandon Lay releases the music video for “For My Money,” his “rich new single” (Sounds Like Nashville) currently climbing country airplay charts. Brandon, who wrote the “For My Money” with Andrew DeRoberts, describes the song as “deception and flirtation at its best.”

Director Tim Nackashi brings the “fake it ‘til you make it” sentiment of the song to life giving a party-goer’s perspective with an uncut walk through a Hollywood Hills bungalow scene until the camera descends down from the night sky on to Brandon playing the blues-infused track poolside.

Six years ago today (March 24th), Dierks Bentley topped the country charts with “I Hold On,” a song that has both personal and universal meaning to the artist and seems to have more meaning to all of us during this time in the world than ever before.

“These verses are snippets about my life and just things about me, and it’s kind of a song of self-discovery too, you know,” says Dierks. “Who am I after all these years? What’s important to me? Why do I do certain things that I do? Why do I hold on to certain things that I hold onto? It’s a little bit of me trying to figure out who I am, and then the choruses, it’s who we are as Americans, as a people, as human beings, I guess. There are things that we really value and that we hold on to ‘em really tight – faith, love and freedom.”

“I Hold On” was Dierks’ 11th No. 1, and it’s from his album, Riser.

Eric Church released his second album, Carolina, 11 years ago today (March 24th). The album, which went gold in 2011, spawned hits such as “Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most” and “Hell on the Heart,” as well as fan favorites “Lotta Boot Left to Fill” and “His Kind of Money (My Kind of Love).” Eric wrote or co-wrote all 15 songs on the collection.

He’s currently making his way up the country charts with his latest song, “Monsters.”

Keith Urban performed his second “Urban Underground” live stream on Monday (March 23rd). He kicked it off with a message to everyone from him and his wife Nicole Kidman. He then launched into a fan request for “Never Coming Down,” followed by “You’re Gonna Fly.” Nic played multiple parts in the video, including those of her husband’s roadie, his audience, while dancing around while her husband performed many of his hits in their home studio, Skye Studio. The 30-minute show also featured “Somewhere in My Car,” a tribute to the late great Kenny Rogers on “The Gambler.” Keith said it has been probably 25 years since he performed the song. Keith also performed his latest song, “God Whispered Your Name,” which Nic says is her favorite while she sang along. The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year also revealed there’s a video to the song coming out very soon. Check out the Facebook Live link below.

In other Keith news, it was announced he will host this year’s ACM Awards, which had been moved from April 5th to September 16th.

Sam Hunt is getting ready to release his new album, Southside, in less than two weeks. When he was coming up with titles for the new collection, he kept going back to “Southside,” which was among the list of titles he had written down.

“The album title came well after all the songs were finished. I essentially sat down and made a list of potential titles and just off the top of my head, I just sort of started writing down words or phrases that felt like the songs or felt like the record,” says Sam. “Southside was the one that just kept standing out. I didn’t put a whole lot of thought into why that was the case. Southside just for me is a phrase that just feels like my rural and urban roots, you know, where I’m from, I kind of feel like I’m from the southside of that place, and obviously, the word south is in the title so there’s association with being from the South. More than having a really good backstory for the title, it just felt – when I looked at it on the page – it felt like the record.”

Kip Moore is doing his part during these trying times, including opening a tab at a local Nashville restaurant, the Wild Cow, to provide free meals for those who are struggling during this time. Kip also teamed up with Eat Well through his foundation Kip’s Kids Fund to provide more than 3,000 meals to kids in North and West Nashville who aren’t receiving the food and nourishment they need during school closures (see video from Eat Well below).

In the meantime, Kip is following the CDC guidelines and self-quarantining himself at his getaway place in Kentucky and spending time eating right, rock climbing, learning Spanish and more.

“I’m doing a lot of the same things I’ve always done to stay healthy. I’m trying to eat right, take care of my body,” says Kip. “But I have followed the guidelines of quarantining myself. I’m trying to do everything asked of me. I’m currently in the mountains and I’m rock climbing. I’m completely solo. I’m off the grid. I’ve stocked up on a lot of frozen meats. I’ve got a little lodge up here in Kentucky, so I’m hanging out here, so that’s where I’m spending my time. I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish. I’ve always been able to dabble in it, but I want to get better at it. So, the first thing I did was I downloaded the dual lingo app, and it’s very elementary. Every single morning, I try to spend 45 minutes to an hour with that app, and the other thing that I’ve been trying to do is I have been outside trying to work on my skateboard game.”

Kip is also making his way up the country charts with his latest song, “She’s Mine.”

Country foursome, Little Big Town, will postpone The Nightfall Tour to resume in August amid health concerns over the coronavirus. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at all of the newly rescheduled dates.
