[We’ve] been talking about trying to do something together on the road forever, and finally all of the schedules worked out. It’s going to be a true collaboration, which we’ve never really done ever.” PHILLIP: “We’re going to sing some songs, she’s going to sing her set and then we’re gonna do equally as long a set together. It’s gonna be like a big jam. The best thing about Miranda is she’s such a lover of music, and we can sit on a patio and open a bottle of wine and just have a great jam session with her. So that’s going to be kinda what this party’s gonna be.”

  • KASSI ASHTON RELEASES ACOUSTIC VIDEO FOR HER SONG “TAXIDERMY.”

  • KEITH URBAN COULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LATE MERLE HAGGARD SCORING A NO. 1 SONG MORE THAN 30 YEARS AFTER HIS LAST CHART-TOPPER.

Could Keith Urban help the legendary Merle Haggard achieve another No. 1 song? It could happen with his latest hit, “Coming Home.” As you probably know, Keith wrote his current hit “Coming Home” based on a guitar lick he loved from Merle Haggard’s 1968 No. 1 hit, “Mama Tried.”

So, being able to give Merle another chart-topping song – which could be his first since 1987’s “Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star” – would be a huge thrill for Keith.

“It feels extraordinary,” says Keith. “I grew up with so much of his music in our house and that particular song – ‘Mama Tried’ that this guitar lick is taken from – is just so deep in my DNA. So, the idea that Hag may get another No. 1 song since the ‘80s is just about time [laughs] I’d say.”

Keith asked for and received the approval from Merle’s family to use the famous guitar lick and even credited Merle as a co-writer on the song.

“I’m especially grateful to Theresa Haggard and Ben Haggard who both gave the blessing for the support of this lick being used in the song and Merle being a writer on ‘Coming Home,’” says Keith.

He co-wrote the song with Julia Michaels, as well as J.R. Rotem, Nicolle Galyon and, of course, the late Merle Haggard.

Catch Keith on the road on his Graffiti U World Tour, which makes its next stop in Raleigh, North Carolina on Friday (July 27th).

  • TRAVIS DENNING PREMIERES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “DAVID ASHLEY PARKER FROM POWDER SPRINGS” ON CMT TODAY.

Travis Denning releases the music video to his debut single “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs,” premiering exclusively on CMT today, view HERE. Directed by Justin Clough, the music video illustrates a young college student acquiring his first fake ID and the adventures that go along with using such classic college paraphernalia. The video features an actor who feels nervous energy while illegally buying his first case of beer at a liquor store, followed by a hero’s welcome at the house party when he arrives with his ill-gotten gains, and even a run-in with the police as the story develops. The video also includes a surprise cameo fans won’t want to miss. “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs” hit the Spotify U.S. Viral Chart upon its initial release, and Travis has been named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know this past June.

A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, Mercury Nashville’s Travis Denning vividly remembers the moment he realized he wanted to pursue music for a living. He was seven years old sitting in his Dad’s truck and heard AC/DC for the first time. From then on, he was hooked and devoured all types of music from country, pop, rock and heavy metal. Travis started playing local bars at the age of 16 and built a solid following from his distinctive songs and raucous guitar licks. He moved to Nashville in 2014 and within a year signed a publishing deal with Jeremy Stover’s RED Creative Group. After securing outside cuts by Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Michael Ray and Chase Rice he caught the attention of Universal Music Group where he eventually signed a record deal in 2017. Travis just released his debut single “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs,” an upbeat coming-of-age song that paints a picture of a young man reminiscing on his carefree college memories. The singer/songwriter recently opened shows for LANCO, Chase Rice, Justin Moore and Alan Jackson. When Travis is not touring, he is in the studio working on his debut album.

  • JORDAN DAVIS CELEBRATES HIS FIRST NO. 1 SONG WITH A PARTY IN NASHVILLE.

Jordan Davis celebrated his No. 1 smash “Singles You Up” with co-wrtiers Justin Ebach and Steven Dale Jones at a party in Nashville on Monday (July 30th). He was also honored with a platinum plaque for the song, which has sold more than one-million copies…AND that the tune is the most-played song on country radio this year.

“This being my first time releasing music ever, I didn’t know what to expect. I think it took a couple of months to kinda catch on and see that this song’s really resonating with people,” says the Louisiana native. “I was just hoping people would buy into who I am as an artist and the music I was putting out, and I felt like ‘Singles You Up’ was the best way and the best song that defined what I wanted to do.”

Attending the party were numerous friends and family, including brother and frequent collaborator Jacob Davis, his two nieces, parents and his Uncle Stan Paul Davis, who Jordan said paved the way for him in Nashville having written several songs for artists such as Tracy Lawrence.

Jordan is climbing the country charts with “Take It From Me,” which he’ll perform in Xenia, Ohio on Tuesday (July 31st).

“This being my first time releasing music ever, I didn’t know what to expect. I think it took a couple of months to kinda catch on and see that this song’s really resonating with people. The song being where it was at in the charts, whether it be in the 30s or the 20s, the amount of people showing up and knowing that song was kinda shocking. To where now, I think my band guys can even attest, we don’t even have to sing that song. Once we start into the first lick, I mean everybody jumps in. I was just hoping people would buy into who I am as an artist and the music I was putting out, and I felt like ‘Singles You Up’ was the best way and the best song that defined what I wanted to do.”

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE ENJOYED THEIR BLUE COLLAR RAISING.

With songs like “Rum” and “Dirt Rich” from their debut album, Pawn Shop, Brothers Osborne explained how they grew up and where they came from as a blue-collar family.

“We’re from Maryland, which is a very blue-collar state. Our dad’s a plumber, our mom’s a hairdresser. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but we still really loved life. We enjoyed ourselves so much, you know, and we tried to have the biggest time possible with what little we had,” says John Osborne. “We want to express that it’s okay to be that way, because we turned out alright. We’re doing fine. As long as you’re able to laugh and able to enjoy yourself with family and friends, you’re really living the good life.”

The guys are currently making their way up the country charts with “Shoot Me Straight” from their latest album, Port Saint Joe.

JOHN: “We’re from Maryland, which is a very blue-collar state. Our dad’s a plumber, our mom’s a hairdresser. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but we still really loved life. We enjoyed ourselves so much, you know, and we tried to have the biggest time possible with what little we had. There’s songs like ‘Rum’ explains that – it’s about we can’t afford to go to the beach, but we’re gonna live it up like we’re at the beach. We don’t have money, but we’re richer than anyone could ever be. Pawn Shop, for example, it’s like we understand what it’s like when you have to sell what you have because you can’t afford to eat or keep the lights on. We want to express that it’s okay to be that way, because we turned out alright. We’re doing fine. As long as you’re able to laugh and able to enjoy yourself with family and friends, you’re really living the good life.”
