  • DARIUS RUCKER IS READY TO RELEASE HIS NEW ALBUM, CAROLYN’S BOY.

Darius Rucker will release his new album, Carolyn’s Boy, on Friday (October 6th), and it’s his first since 2017’s “When Was The Last Time.” He co-wrote 10 of the 14 tracks on the album with such prominent songwriters as Ed Sheeran, HARDY, John Osborne, Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne, Lady A’s Charles Kelley and many more.

He named the new album after his mother, a nurse at Medical University of South Carolina and who raised him with his three sisters and two brothers, and he chose a photo of his mother to grace the cover of his new collection of songs.

“Once I decided I was going to name it Carolyn’s Boy, like when I decided that day in the studio, I knew the picture I was going to use,” says Darius. “That’s our favorite family picture. Like, every family member has that picture in their house. My mom was 25 at the time. I think it’s her nursing school picture and we all have it. And so, I knew what picture I was going to use.”

The South Carolina native credits his mother for all of his good qualities. “She instilled everything in me that’s good — you know, my philanthropy, the way I care about people, being nice all the time — those are all things that my mom (would do). My mom used to say all the time, ‘It’s so much easier to be nice than to be a jerk,’ but she didn’t say jerk. That wasn’t the word she used. (laughs)  But, everything good in me she instilled in me, and I always believe, that I hope that I became the man that she was trying to raise.”

Darius, who was just inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville on Wednesday (October 4th), will bring the new music to his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina during his personally-curated Riverfront Revival Music Festival for a second year during his album release weekend (October 7th & 8th).

  • DARIUS RUCKER IS INDUCTED INTO THE MUSIC CITY WALK OF FAME.

Darius Rucker was inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville on Wednesday (October 4th) in front of family, friends, industry executives and fans. Darius’ favorite all-time wrestler, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, was in attendance to induct the multi-platinum country superstar.

Flair, who has been friends with Darius for decades, regaled the delighted crowd with humorous and bawdy stories of himself hanging out with the multi-platinum singer, but became particularly emotional when talking about what a great person Darius is, saying he was a “second-to-none musician” and “one of the greatest human beings we’ve all ever been gifted to know.” He also told the story of when he almost died, and Darius rerouted his tour bus to come and visit him and gave him 20 bottles of Dom Perignon.

Darius, with a catch in his throat and tears in his eyes, thanked his family, including daughter Dani, sisters and brothers and more, for the sacrifices they made as he pursued his musical dreams. “I’m just a kid from South Carolina who got lucky twice, so I’m shocked and humbled that I’m here,” said Darius.

Don McLean of “American Pie” fame, rock and roll guitarist Duane Eddy, and former record-label executive Joe Galante were also inducted into the Walk of Fame, and the four become the 101st, 102nd, 103rd and 104th stars.  Inductees are recognized for their significant work of preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and for contributing to the world through song. Vince Gill, who was first signed to RCA Records by inductee Joe Galante, talked about Joe’s unwavering support and his long friendship.

Darius is set to release his new album, Carolyn’s Boy, on Friday (October 6th).

Darius Rucker (Ric Flair) OC: …that close. :33
“Wild is an understatement. Rick and I’ve been friends for 30 years or something like that, and he’s one of my best buddies. Growing up, he was so important to me. Growing up, I was a wrestling fan, and he was so important to me. And when the Walk of Fame came up here, he was the first person we thought of to do it. And he’s such a great guy. He’s such a character. He is exactly what you think he is, like what he does and what he says is not a character, that’s exactly who he is. And I’m just so proud that he’s going to come and do that for me, and it just warms my heart to know that Rick and I are that close.”

  • DARIUS RUCKER PAYS TRIBUTE TO HIS “BIGGEST SUPPORTER” WITH HIS UPCOMING ALBUM.

Darius Rucker will release his new album, Carolyn’s Boy, next Friday (October 6th); his first since 2017’s “When Was The Last Time.” He co-wrote 10 of the 14 tracks on the album with such prominent songwriters as Ed Sheeran, HARDY, John Osborne, Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne, Lady A’s Charles Kelley and many more.

He named the new album after his mother, a nurse at Medical University of South Carolina and who raised him with his three sisters and two brothers. “I wanted to name the record Carolyn’s Boy because Mom never got to see any of my success,” Darius explained during a recent “TODAY” interview. “She died before any of this happened, so it’s just another homage to the greatest woman I’ve ever known.”

Coming up with the title for an album is often difficult for artists, but for Darius, the title came to him in the studio as sort of an epiphany when he was having a bad day.

“She was my biggest supporter. You know, she was always in my corner, you know, back when I was a real young kid trying to get in the rock and roll and country and being told that wasn’t the music I was supposed to be listening to, she was my biggest supporter; my biggest ‘leave him alone person. Let him listen to what he wants to listen to,’” says Darius of his mom who passed away in 1992. “I remember when I told her I was dropping out of college to play in Hootie, and I thought she was going to kill me. I really thought she was going to kill me. And she didn’t. She said, ‘If that’s what you need to do…’ you know, because she always believed that I was going to make it probably a lot more than I did. And it was funny because I was in the studio having, and the only way I can explain it is, I was just having a bad day, a bad mental health day. And I sat down at one point, I just said to myself that really, at the end of the day, I’m just my Mama’s boy, and that was the day that’s when I decided to name it Carolyn’s boy. And that was an epiphany for me, and that helped a lot.”

Darius tells us Carolyn’sBoy is probably his most personal album to date. “It’s probably the most personal I’ve ever written. So many things have been going on in the world and in my life in the past six years that I just kept writing songs about what was going on,” he says. “And once I decided to name it Carolyn’s Boy, the personal songs seemed to rise to the top of the heap. And so, (this is a) pretty personal record, but, you know, I love that. I love telling the truth.”

  • DARIUS RUCKER CHANNELS LAW & ORDER DETECTIVE ELLIOT STABLER FOR HIS LATEST VIDEO.

Darius Rucker recently released the official music video for “Fires Don’t Start Themselves,” and the cinematic video casts him as a detective hot on the trail of a young couple whose passionate love is setting their town ablaze, both literally and figuratively.

Darius says he channeled his inner Stabler for the role, referencing Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) from Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime fame.

“When they told me I wasn’t going to do a performance, I was so happy, because that’s so the cliché (for) the video. You have other people acting and then you do the performance,” says Darius. “But when they told me I was going to play a detective, I put on my inner Stabler, because I’m such a Law and Order and CSI fan, so I put on my inner Stabler and went out and did it. And the girl I worked with, she was so fun; she was so funny. And you know that donut scene, when I see it, there’s no words and it still makes me laugh every time I see it.”

The song is featured on his highly anticipated new album, Carolyn’s Boy, set for release on October 6th and named for his late mother as an “homage to the greatest woman I’ve ever known.”

Darius, who is part of ESPN’s College Game Day opening theme with Lainey Wilson and The Cadillac Three, is set to get inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville on October 4th.

“I love acting. I love… It’s a lot of fun. And the actors you get to act with are so giving and make it so easy for you and fun and everything. But that video, when they told me I wasn’t going to do any performance, I was so happy, because that’s so the cliché (for) the video. You have other people acting and then you do the performance. But when they told me I was going to play a detective, I put on my inner Stabler, because I’m such a Law and Order and CSI fan, so I put on my inner Stabler and went out and did it. And the girl I worked with, she was so fun; she was so funny. And you know that donut scene, when I see it, there’s no words and it still makes me laugh every time I see it. But yeah, that was a lot of fun and I’d love to do a lot more of that, but, you know, we’ll see if it comes. If it comes, I’ll take it. If not, I’ll keep doing this music thing. I’ll be happy about that.”
