  • DIERKS BENTLEY AND LUKE BRYAN SAY THERE’S NOT A LOT OF PREP GOING INTO SUNDAY NIGHT’S ACM AWARDS.

Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan have been pre-gaming for Sunday night’s ACM Awards. They joke that there’s not a lot of preparation, though, that goes into doing the monologue of a big awards show.

“What he’s told me was that there is actually no monologue. Backstage, you just have like six drinks,” says Dierks. “Hopefully, we’re gonna find one in a little bit, but for now Luke’s just said, ‘Yeah go out there, have some drinks and have fun.So, hopefully he’s not messing with me.”

You can catch the action for yourselves when the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday (April 3rd) at 8pm ET/delayed PT on CBS.

Audio / Dierks Bentley says he was told – by his co-host Luke Bryan -- that Sunday's ACM Awards will go with an unplanned kind of monologue.

You just go backstage and have like six drinks… (Luke) “Freestyle… ” (Dierks) “Go that what’s he’s telling me so I hopefully it not..” (Luke) “Improv…” (Dierks) “Yeah, there is no monologue (laughs) right now. Hopefully, we’re gonna find one in a little bit  but for now Luke’s just said, ‘Yeah, go out there, have some drinks and just have fun. That’s what he’s telling me. So, hopefully he’s not messing with me.”

  • LUKE BRYAN AND JASON DERULO TEAM UP FOR CMT CROSSROADS.

    From The Tennessean:

Luke Bryan, who will co-host the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday with Dierks Bentley, had a different sidekick Tuesday night — R&B star Jason Derulo.

The pair filmed “CMT Crossroads: Jason Derulo and Luke Bryan” at The Factory in Franklin. On the show, country music stars and singers from outside the genre take turns singing lines in each other’s songs.

“I can’t express how hard it is to come in and learn these songs in a day and a half,” Bryan said from the stage. “(Jason) is crushing it.”

Bryan said he already knew Derulo’s songs because his children listen to his music.

“They don’t listen to Dad,” he quipped.

Hundreds of fans piled into Liberty Hall at The Factory for the show. The men, both charismatic entertainers, started the taping with Bryan’s hits including “Country Girl (Shake it For Me),” “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Strip It Down,” which took a couple of tries to perfect. Derulo added his signature vocal acrobatics to the sexy ballad, which prompted Bryan to ask, “How you do that?”

When Derulo’s music was showcased, Bryan confidently and comfortably covered his parts on Derulo’s “Talk Dirty,” “Trumpets” and “It Girl.”

“This is crazy,” Derulo said of their performance. Then he told Bryan: “Take us on the road.”

Saving the tour conversation for later, the singers opted to take the audience south — to Georgia for their cover song. They performed a stripped-down version of “Georgia On My Mind” — twice because Derulo said it was fun to sing.

“CMT Crossroads: Jason Derulo and Luke Bryan” has yet to be assigned an air date.

Fans can watch Bryan when he co-hosts the ACM Awards at 7 p.m. Sunday on CBS.

  • ACM AWARDS 2016: Entertainer of the Year (Luke Bryan and Eric Church)

Eric Church and the reigning ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan are up for this year’s top award at the ACM Awards on Sunday (April 3rd). They’re competing alongside Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks and Miranda Lambert.

Luke, who’s picked up this award twice, says “being called the Entertainer of the Year makes me want to do that to the best of my ability every night for the rest of my life as long as I’m on stage.”

Eric, on the other hand, is nominated for his first-ever Entertainer of the Year award, and he finds it a little unexpected. “I’ve been doing this a long time, so it’s strange to have that nomination,” says the “Record Year” singer. “There were many days I didn’t think we’d get there.”

The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Luke and Dierks Bentley, will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas April 3rd at 8pm ET/delayed PT on CBS.

Audio / Luke Bryan talks about being named Entertainer of the Year from both the ACM Awards and CMA Awards.

Luke Bryan (Entertainer wins) OC: …got it right. :49
“The title is what it is, you know? I mean, my focus in life when I’m on stage is entertaining these fans. If it’s my smile and my demeanor, if it’s my song that does it, if it’s me picking up a child out of the audience and letting them sing, it’s not being so premeditated that you can see it from a mile away. I mean, my main thing is be a fan up there that just gets to sing. That’s kind of how I’ve always approached it, and being called the Entertainer of the Year makes me want to do that to the best of my ability every night for the rest of my life as long as I’m on stage. I want people to leave my shows and go, ‘You know what? Whoever’s voting him Entertainer of the Year, they got it right.’”

Audio / Eric Church says it’s a little strange to finally be nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the ACMs.

Eric Church (ACMs 2016) 1 OC: …cool for me. :36
“First time for that one. You know, it’s strange for me. I’ve been doing this a long time, so it’s strange to have that nomination. There were many days I didn’t think we’d get there. [laughs] But I think for me, I mean, I’m the most proud of the fact that we do our own thing and we do it how we want to do it, and especially with Mr. Misunderstood the album and dropping it on the CMAs and not telling anybody about it and just letting music be music is something that’s been very rewarding and very cool for me.”
