  • DARIUS RUCKER PLAYS POSSUM, THE ASSASSIN ON ABC’S BIG SKY.

Darius Rucker guest stars on ABC’s hit show, Big Sky: Deadly Trails, as a character named Possum who he debuted on Wednesday (November 2nd). His partner is the iconic Lyle Lovett, who plays Tex, and Darius couldn’t have been more excited to be on the show.

“First of all, Lyle Lovett’s one of the reasons I’m sitting in this room. I mean, in the ‘90s when Lyle Lovett came out with his Large Band and Joshua Judges Ruth, those were records that blew my mind. I know every word to every song on those records,” says Darius. “I met Lyle a couple of times, but to get to go do a TV show with him and we play assassins, you know? And it’s just awesome. There was a moment in the scene that we were shooting, where the scene starts and we’re sitting in a bar and Lyle and I are singing ‘Down In The Valley,’ and it gave me chills. I mean, just really gave me chills, because it’s freaking Lyle Lovett! And Reba’s been nothing but awesome to me since I’ve known her. Since I came to Nashville, she’s been one of my champions and awesome, and when we did the CMAs together, I’ve never seen anybody more giving than she was when we did that. And to get the phone call to do Big Sky, I was shocked. I’m not much of an actor, but it was fun to do, to hang out with Lyle was fun, you know, Rex – Reba’s boyfriend – was like, he was basically my acting coach. We were on the phone, and he was giving me tips about going through the lines and everything, and it was just great.”
