• JOSH TURNER RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “I CAN TELL BY THE WAY YOU DANCE.”

Multi-platinum-selling country music artist Josh Turner is taking fans on a journey back in time with the release today of his nostalgic new music video for his interpretation of the Vern Gosdin classic track “I Can Tell By the Way You Dance.”  The throwback music video embraces the heyday of classic country music TV dance program “Club Dance.”

Turner, who has always been a fan of the song, hopes to introduce a new generation of fans to the country classic.  “I always felt that song was ahead of its time and never got the attention it deserved,” said Turner.  “I did it in my sets when I first started out, and I’ve always wanted to give it a modern spin. I’m so thankful I got to meet Vern a couple of times, and I hope I did him proud on this one.” The video is a great homage to both the song and the iconic country dance shows of the 80s and 90s such as Club Dance and the Wild Horse Saloon Dance Show.

The new video, which was filmed at The Nashville Palace, finds Turner and his band, dressed in 90s era country style, performing the song in front of a crowd of enthusiastic dancers. Thanks to technology and old episodes of “Club Dance” classic images of the dancers (performing popular country dances of the time) were inserted into the video.  Club Dance, which was filmed in Knoxville, TN and aired on The Nashville Network from April 1991 to February 1999, captured the exuberance of country music’s danceable hits during that decade.

The Vern Gosdin classic, along with eleven other tracks, are on Turner’s critically acclaimed new studio album COUNTRY STATE OF MIND, out now on MCA Nashville. The album celebrates a cross-section of classic country music icons, including five legends whom he has called his “Mount Rushmore of Country Music”-Randy TravisJohn AndersonJohnny CashVern Gosdin, and Hank Williams.

  • A DOLLY FOR CHRISTMAS: The True Story of a Family’s Christmas Miracle By Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman and illustrated by Morgan Huff.

On October 6th, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers is proud to publish A DOLLY FOR CHRISTMAS: The True Story of a Family’s Christmas Miracle by “Little Big Town’s” Kimberly Schlapman and illustrated by Morgan Huff (Ages 4-8; $19.99). Perfect for holiday gift guides, A DOLLY FOR CHRISTMAS celebrates the season’s themes of hope, love, and family as it explores a family’s adoption process. Inspired by Schlapman’s struggle to conceive her second child and how she and her family decided to adopt, the book delves into how Schlapman’s  first daughter wrote letters to Santa Claus about her desire for a sibling until the family was actually surprised by their new baby girl, Dolly, days before Christmas.
In the story, all Daisy wants for Christmas is a little brother or sister. Her parents have tried everything to make her dream come true, but nothing is working. So Daisy takes matters into her own hands, praying every day and writing a letter to Santa Claus about her one and only wish. Daisy’s parents are touched by her strong belief and grateful for her help, but as they explain, sometimes you have to wait. God will give you the perfect gift when the time is right. In this heartwarming holiday tale, Schlapman shares the true story of the Christmas when her family became whole.
Schlapman hopes the story will inspire other families to maintain their faith, especially when facing infertility issues. The book is also a tribute to her daughters’ love for each other. She said in an interview with PEOPLE magazine, “I just want people to be hopeful and to know that if they’re in the middle of a struggle, they are not alone. We walked those same roads, and they are very, very difficult. But, in the end, there is restoration and there are children who are waiting for them.”
Kimberly Schlapman is a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning band Little Big Town. She is also the author of Oh Gussie!: Cooking and Visiting in Kimberly’s Southern Kitchen, and hosted the cooking show Kimberly Simply Southern. A Dolly for Christmas is her debut children’s book.
