  • DARIUS RUCKER CONTINUES TO BUILD ON OVER $2 MILLION RAISED FOR ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL WITH 11TH ANNUAL “DARIUS & FRIENDS” CONCERT.

Three-time Grammy Award winner Darius Rucker continues to give back to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with the Thursday, July 30 live-streamed edition of his annual “Darius & Friends” benefit concert raising over $255,000 and adding to the event’s overall total of more than $2 million.

“When we first started talking about this year’s concert, which usually takes place during the week of CMA Fest, I had the idea to make it a really fun night of ’90s Country,” shares Rucker. “Even though gathering in person for our normal show wasn’t possible this year, we still wanted to do as much as we could to support the great work happening at St. Jude. I’m so thankful to my friends Clint Black and Tracy Lawrence for helping that ’90s Country vision still come to life, and to the folks at LiveXLive for bringing this concert to everyone’s screens at home.”

Broadcasting from the iconic Grand Ole Opry stage and hosted by WSM’s own Bill Cody, the event began with a moving video package from the hospital known around the globe for treating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases before Rucker kicked off the evening’s festivities with his chart-topper “Alright” and his most recent No. 1 hit “For The First Time.”

Pausing to reflect on the impact of how St. Jude cares for families who face the heartbreaking reality of having a child diagnosed with cancer, Rucker then introduced his first guest of the evening, noting “it’s always special when you meet your heroes and they’re everything you imagined they’d be.”

Strolling on stage to a smattering of applause from Rucker’s band, The Carolina Grey Boys, Black shared his trademark sense of humor as he remarked on the missing Opry House audience before treating fans watching at home to his new single “America (Still In Love With You)” and his chart-topping hit “A Good Run of Bad Luck.”

Rucker then returned to the microphone to share the story of earning his first No. 1 at Country radio with “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” and followed that with yet another chart-topper in “If I Told You.” He then entertained fans with the debut performance of his forthcoming single, “Beers And Sunshine,” and “a pretty good song to be playing with everything going on right now,” his Hootie & the Blowfish smash hit “Hold My Hand.”

Next on stage was multi-Platinum artist Lawrence, who performed his No. 1 hit “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” before inviting Rucker back to center stage. “I’ve played this song in my set for probably 14 years, so this is really special,” noted Rucker as the two joined forces on three-week No. 1 “Time Marches On.”

Rucker then treated fans to a final solo performance with “Come Back Song” before the evening ended according to tradition, as the three artists came together for a high-energy “Wagon Wheel” singalong to close out the show.

Throughout the successful history of “Darius & Friends,” prior guests have included Lauren Alaina, Brooks & Dunn, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Ashley McBryde, A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys, Brad Paisley, Kenny Rogers and Paul Stanley of KISS, among many others.

The annual fundraising event, made possible with support from generous sponsors CDW, Intel, PNC Bank, Cigna, Hendrix Enterprises and Delta Dental of Tennessee, helps ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Rucker, who will again perform live from the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, August 15 for the 4,937th consecutive Saturday night broadcast of the show, is also set to release new music with feel-good summer single “Beers And Sunshine” making a world premiere at Country radio this Thursday, August 6 and available everywhere on Friday, August 7.

Darius Rucker (Darius & Friends) OC: …with me. :50
“Darius and Friends was something we started a while ago and, ten years –I think — this is our tenth year, and we started right after I went to St. Jude’s a while ago. I was the baby band on the Dierks and Brad tour. And Dierks and I went to St. Jude together to visit and it was just an amazing experience. It’s really an amazing, amazing, amazing experience, and I just really wanted to do something like I mean Nashville, we started doing Darius and Friends. And this year we were going to do a great one. We had it great, we had a bunch of ’90s artists and we were so excited. We were SO excited about it, we were gonna call it the “’90s and Cam” cause Cam was gonna come do it with us too. But it was going to be so much fun and so we wanted to do it virtual, you know. Tracy and Clint are such legends and such amazing artists and such good friends and wanted to do it with me.”

Featuring swampy grooves and slide guitars, “Hatin’ Somebody” is a jam-band-worthy salute to togetherness. “We threw our grandfather into that song imagining ‘a stubborn hillbilly in the middle of the city, learning how not to throw stones,’” shares TJ. “As the song says, ‘we’re in the same damn boat and hating somebody ain’t ever got nobody nowhere.’”

  • ERIC CHURCH CONTINUES TO UNVEIL NEW MUSIC WITH THE RELEASE OF “BAD MOTHER TRUCKER.”

On the heels of his defiant new single “Stick That In Your Country Song,” actively climbing the charts at Country radio, current ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee Eric Church again offers a glimpse at his forthcoming project with today’s release of “Bad Mother Trucker.”

Chronicling the rebellious swagger of a female truck driver earning respect on the road, the song written by Church together with Casey Beathard, Luke Dick and Jeremy Spillman combines a contagious groove and a guitar solo begging for the day the Church Choir can once again gather at a live show with the Chief’s signature snarl and the powerhouse backing vocals of Joanna Cotten.

She drove an ’81 Peterbilt 18-wheeler, jet black with pink mud flaps / It was a mean piece of metal with lightning in the pedal, thunder coming out the back / And them boys would chuckle when they saw her buckle herself in the captain’s seat / But nobody was laughing when she’d go to passing, smiling at them real sweet,” Church sings as the song opens and listeners meet the heroine. “She was hell on wheels where the road meets the rubber / A real gear jammer, a white line wonder / Yeah you only get one and I wouldn’t want another / ’Cause Mama was a bad mother trucker.”

The two new tracks follow heavy speculation surrounding Church’s forthcoming project, after he discussed writing and recording a song per day in a rural North Carolina cabin during his CRS “Chasing Creativity” keynote appearance earlier this year. Devoted to putting fans first, the man NPR calls “the gold standard for mainstream country” has offered them glimpses at the new songs throughout recent performances on ACM Presents: Our Country (“Never Break Heart”), Stagecouch (“Jenny”) and in a defiant spoken-word recording, “Through My Ray Bans.”

The new music follows Church’s most recent critically acclaimed project, 2018’s Desperate Man, his sixth studio album which was named one of the year’s best by American Songwriter, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Los Angeles Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, Variety and Vulture, among others, also earning a Grammy nod for Best Country Album (his third nomination in the category).

    About Eric Church
The three-time Country Music Association and seven-time Academy of Country Music Award winner released his most recent critically acclaimed and Grammy nominated album, Desperate Man, atop the Billboard Country Albums chart in late 2018. The album, featuring his most recent No. 1 hit “Some Of It,” also debuted at No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard 200. Church returned to the road in 2019 for his chart-topping Double Down Tour, with back-to-back nights of two unique shows sans-opening act giving fans 6+ hours of his iconic music in each city. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where Church broke the venue’s concert attendance record with 56,521 fans just two weeks before awing the same stadium’s audience with a 30-minute, solo acoustic CMA Fest set featuring a medley of 17 hits. “Stick That In Your Country Song,” released on June 25, is the lead single off a forthcoming project born from a sequestered session in rural North Carolina where he wrote and recorded a song per day for nearly a month.

  • GARY ALLAN RELEASES NEW SINGLE “WASTE OF A WHISKEY DRINK.”

Gary Allan makes his return with a long-awaited new single “Waste of a Whiskey Drink” available today. The catchy and upbeat tune showcases Allan’s signature raspy and soulful vocals with a classic 90’s sound that his fans have craved. Written by Josh Kear, Michael Hardy, and Mark Holman, the song sounds as a warning signal to a fellow bargoer to not waste a drink on a girl that is nothing but trouble.

“It’s about a girl that you just don’t want any of your friends to get tangled up with. You’ve been there. And you’re telling him as he’s looking at her and thinking she’s cute… and you’re saying, ‘Man, just do something else because she’s a waste of a whiskey drink. Don’t do it,” says Allan. The song was produced by Mark Wright and Tony Brown, who also produced his 1999 Platinum album Smoke Rings in the Dark which housed three of his Top 40 Country Hits.  You can hear the new single “Waste of a Whiskey Drink” HERE.

With the allure of a modern-day outlaw, Gary Allan has won over fans, peers and critics with his signature blend of smoldering vocals, rebellious lyrics and raucous live performances. While becoming a force on the country music scene, Allan has remained true to his artistic voice each step of the way. In 2016 Allan re-signed with Universal Music Group Nashville, the label home for the entirety of his twenty-four year career. His last album, Set You Free, topped the all-genre Billboard 200, a career first for Allan.  The album also made its debut at the top of the Billboard Country Album chart (for the fourth time in a row) and produced his fifth #1 country radio chart topper with “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain).”  The California native released his first album, Used Heart for Sale, in 1996 and since then has released eight additional studio albums selling over 8 million albums, been certified platinum on three back-to-back albums, and been certified gold five times.  Allan has five #1 hits at country radio, fourteen Top 10 hits to his credit and amassed over 1.5 billion total streams. His album Smoke Rings in the Dark recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of his first ever vinyl appearance. He’s described as “dark and dreamy” in Entertainment Weekly, “soulful and rough around the edges” in Playboy and deemed a “maverick” by Rolling Stone.  He has sold out venues as a headliner from NY to LA, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Live with Kelly and Michael and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He has also landed on the covers of Country Weekly, Pollstar and People magazine.

It’s about a girl that you just don’t want any of your friends to get tangled up with. She’s an awful person. You’ve been there, and you’re telling him as he’s looking at her and thinking she’s cute, you’re saying, ‘Man, do something else ’causes she’s a waste of a whiskey drink. Don’t do it.’ I hope you love it.”

  • ERIC CHURCH CELEBRATES A LONG-STANDING FRIENDSHIP WITH JACK DANIELS.

Eric Church has partnered with his beloved Jack Daniels to create a special, limited-edition Single Barrel Select, which was overseen by Master Distiller Jeff Arnett based on Eric’s discerning taste.

“My grandfather loved his Jack Daniels, and I’m proud to say I’m carrying on that family tradition,” says Jack. “My love for Jack Daniel’s is for the whiskey, but it’s also about the can-do, small-town attitude where community, loyalty and hard work are the qualities the crafters of this American icon hang their hats on.”

The whiskey is from barrels personally selected by the singer and will feature the Eric’s name on the specially designed black and gold embossed label. Each barrel offers a significant depth of aroma ranging from sweet vanilla and caramel to toasted and charred oak. The whiskey flavor offers the signature sweet notes of a Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel upon entry but quickly gives way to a complex, full and heavyweight mid-palate.

“I’m honored to have my own special release of Jack Daniels Single Barrel,” Eric adds. “Whether we raise a glass at a table with a handful of our friends or from a stage with thousands, let’s raise our glass high. ‘Cause that’s where it belongs.”

Eric is currently climbing the country charts with his latest single, “Stick That in Your Country Song.”

  • LAUREN ALAINA NEW EP GETTING OVER HIM COMING SEPTEMBER 4TH.

Platinum-selling singer-songwriter Lauren Alaina, releases her new song “Run” on Friday (July 31), across all digital service providers. “Run,” co-written by Alaina, Ben Johnson and Kennedi, is the first song from the multi-award winner’s upcoming new EP, Getting Over Him, coming September 4th.

“I wrote ‘Run’ with Ben Johnson and Kennedi,” says Alaina. “We are all running. Constantly. Non-Stop. Even in this quarantine we are all still the busiest we’ve ever been. Life just keeps going and going and going in unbelievable paces as we try to race ourselves to the next thing. My idea with the song was to refer to examples of all things that run because no matter what your walk of life is, we are all racing to the next thing. We are all trying to get where we are going. We all get our hearts broken. We all have these childhood dreams. We ‘run’ to make it all happen.”

“Music is my lifeline,” says Alaina. “Music literally pulls me out of everything I ever go through [career, heartbreak, family, self-worth, love] and I feel really empowered with this music. I feel like this music shows my personal growth and my emotional growth. This EP of songs is all about loving myself through other people not loving me and not staying with me. It’s about me being able to get back to that same confident girl I wrote about on Road Less Travelled and to hold on to that confidence. I get to celebrate that with this music, and I am so excited. I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”

Getting Over Him features two duets, including the title track duet with her labelmate and friend Jon Pardi.

“I’ve done duets with other people for their projects, but I have never done any for my own,” says Alaina. “I’ve got a duet with Pardi on his album, and then he loved this one [“Getting Over Him”]. His energy is so amazing. I can’t believe I have a rebound song – but I do. (Laughs).”

The Georgia native also enlisted International pop sensation Lukas Graham to duet with her on her most vulnerable and heartbreaking “What Do You Think Of.”  “Lukas Graham’s vocal on this is ridiculous,” says Alaina. “I am the most nervous about releasing this one because I was so vulnerable when I wrote it. Most of my songs come from more of a sassy and empowered place and this song comes from a really broken place. But I think it’s important because it is a part of who I am. It’s a part of what I went through. And if I am going to be honest in my music, I have to share songs like that too.”

Getting Over Him EP Track Listing:

    1. Run                                                                                    Lauren Alaina/Ben Johnson/Kennedi
    2.  If I Was A Beer                                                                  Lauren Alaina/David Garcia/Hardy
    3.  Bar Back                                                                            Lauren Alaina/David Garcia/Hilary Lindsay
    4.  Getting Over Him (duet with Jon Pardi)                           Lauren Alaina/Paul DiGiovanni/Emily Weisband
    5.  Seen You In Your Hometown                                             Lauren Alaina/Ben Johnson/ Kennedi
    6.  What Do You Think Of (duet with Lukas Graham)          Lauren Alaina/Johan Carlsson/ Asia Whiteacre

Alaina, one of the hottest rising female artists in country music, is making her way up the country singles chart with her current radio single “Getting Good.” Last month the Georgia native released, across all digital platforms, a special mix of “Getting Good” which features her friend/mentor, superstar Trisha Yearwood.

Alaina has most recently performed on the 40th annual broadcast of the top-rated PBS special “A Capitol Fourth performing “This Land Is My Land,” CMA Summer Stay-Cay livestream special where she performed “Women of Summer” with Lindsay Ell and Cassadee Pope as well as “Say It With a Song” Game with Devin Dawson and HARDY as well as CMT’s Benefit Concert for Love & Acceptance and she and her friend Kane Brown performed their 5XPlatinum-selling “What Ifs” on the recent nationally-televised CMA Best of Fest on ABC.

  • JORDAN DAVIS SET FOR SONGWRITER SESSION AT COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM.

2020 ACM Best New Male Artist of the Year nominee Jordan Davis is set to join the latest installment of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Songwriter Sessions tonight, at 8 pm CDT via the museum’s Instagram Live. Davis will be sharing stories and songs from his latest self-titled EP with museum Senior Director, Producer, and Writer, Peter Cooper. A spinoff of the museum’s popular Saturday Songwriter Session, offered weekly in the museum’s Ford Theater, the museum has been bringing the program to fans via Instagram Live during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the many changes the Shreveport native has experienced since moving to Music City, Davis and Cooper will have much to discuss. From signing a record deal with MCA Nashville to racking up over one billion streams of his debut album Home State and notching three consecutive No. 1s, one thing has remained constant for the breakthrough hitmaker, his love for the craft of songwriting. That passion drives his latest project, a six-song, self-titled EP released earlier this summer featuring latest single “Almost Maybes” which Billboard calls “a sure contender for song of the summer.” Listen to the EP HERE.

Teaming once again with Home State producer Paul DiGiovanni, Davis delivers the catchy hooks and sing-a-longs that have become his signature with tracks like “Almost Maybes,” written with songwriting heavy weights Jesse Frasure and Hillary Lindsey, and the lighthearted “Ruin My Weekend.” But American Songwriter  says he “rips pages from the book of John Prine” describing him as, “the kind of high-wire act always balancing between commercial viability and lyrical splendor.” He goes deeper with the personal “Detours” and spiritual “Church In A Chevy,” a song that feels more timely in the face of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

The six-song collection includes latest single “Almost Maybes,” critically acclaimed “Detours” and recent collaboration with pop superstar Julia Michaels, “Cool Anymore.” Check out the pair’s recent “live from home” performance of the song HERE.

    1. Almost Maybes (Jordan Davis, Hillary Lindsey, Jesse Frasure)
    2. Church In A Chevy (Jordan Davis, Josh Jenkins, Matt Jenkins)
    3. Ruin My Weekend (Jordan Davis, Matt Jenkins, Josh Jenkins)
    4. Little Lime (Jordan Davis, Josh Kerr, Jacob Davis)
    5. Detours (Jordan Davis, Dave Turnbull, Jacob Davis)
    6. Cool Anymore (ft. Julia Michaels) (Jordan Davis, Emily Weisband, Nicole Galyon, Ross Copperman, Julia Michaels)
