• VINCE GILL RELEASES ANOTHER TRACK FROM HIS UPCOMING OKIE ALBUM.

Multi Grammy Award-winning MCA Nashville country artist Vince Gill released the latest focus track from his upcoming album OKIE today. “Forever Changed” is a song that is both timeless and of the moment. Inspired by Gill’s personal experience with attempted sexual abuse, “Forever Changed” gives voice to survivors of trauma and speaks to the cultural moment in a singular way. “I knew it was important for people to hear—it’s a real thing and you can’t sweep it under the rug,” Gill says, “It’s a story about sexual abuse and grew out of an incident that happened to me in junior high school—I was lucky and I escaped, but who knows how my life could have been different had I not gotten away.”

In 2018, Gill performed the song at the Ryman Auditorium for the Universal Music Group Nashville Artists’ Showcase during Country Radio Seminar. “We’re living in a time right now when finally people are having the courage to speak out about being abused, and I think that is beyond healthy and beyond beautiful—to see people finally have a voice for being wronged,” Gill told the audience, “maybe what’s been going on has given me a little bit of courage to speak out, too.”

Vince Gill (Forever Changed) OC: …heart for you. 1:48
“That’s a real thing and you can’t – you can’t sweep it under the rug. And that song, I changed that song too from the way I had written it originally. It has to have a little bit of compassion to it and that probably is – if there’s one song that might be the most judgmental on this record it might be that one. But it used to have a much harsher ending and I didn’t feel comfortable with saying that. I remember Keb Mo said one time, he said, ‘I have a hard time singing this Johnny Cash song because it said, ‘I shot a man in prison just to watch him die.’’ He said, ‘I can’t go there.’ And so, I softened the ending quite a bit, and in the last verse. And I think it’s better because then it has – it has a little bit of forgiveness. It has a little bit of compassion and that’s not easy to do, to forgive. It’s very hard, and especially yourself. But the person that’s been wronged has all the power if they forgive to let the guilty party, they’re going to live in that forever. Some people say well they should. Great but it would be good if…So yeah, that song is hard. It’s very, very hard to hear. I’ve even talked about in the past that my basketball coach and gym teacher who acted out on me in junior high school, and I was lucky. I knew it was weird in what he was trying to do, and I jumped up and I ran. S, in a sense nothing happened. Something happened but the results of it didn’t happen, and who knows what my life would have been had it happened if it would have been changed. It might have been whatever. So, I just think it’s good to reach out to people that have been wronged and say somebody has got a heart for you.”

  • CLARE DUNN LIFTS SPIRITS FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES AT NASHVILLE’S SEACREST STUDIOS

MCA Nashville recording artist Clare Dunn took a break from a nonstop touring and recording schedule to brighten the day of some very special Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt patients on Friday, August 9th.

The “absolutely magnetic” (Rolling Stone) singer/songwriter/producer spent the afternoon with a group of children at the hospital’s Seacrest Studio where she visited with patients, signed autographs, wore a surgical mask in solidarity with a young fan, and performed a couple of songs to the group’s delight.

“It was such an honor to spend time with these sweet kids and their families,” says Dunn. “Music is a big part of my world, and to get to share it with these children and see their eyes light up warmed my heart! I absolutely loved spending time with them, and hope I was able to bring a few hours of carefree joy to their families as well. Big thanks to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation for having me — I can’t wait to go back.”

Dubbed an “undeniable artistic force” by MusicRow Magazine, Dunn continues to build her autumn schedule, following a jampacked summer. The prolific songwriter will take her “masterful vocals and crushing guitar” (Miami New Times) on the road with Cody Johnson for three fall dates: October 10 (Mankato, MN), 11 (Dubuque, IA) and 12 (Sioux Falls, SD).

    About Clare Dunn:
MCA Nashville singer/songwriter/producer Clare Dunn is known for her transfixing live shows, powerful vocals, and unparalleled guitar playing. As part of CMT’s 2019 Next Women of Country Tour, Clare took her “big voice” (The Boston Globe) on the road with Hannah Ellis and Cassadee Pope to cities including New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Boston. The Colorado native who “can do it all” (CMT) with “swaggering confidence and soulful vocals” (Rolling Stone) caught the attention of rock legend Bob Seger who, after hearing her sound check only once, invited her to open his Ride Out Tour. Clare has been named “One to Watch” by USA Today, Billboard, The Boston Globe and Rolling Stone.

  • ERIC CHURCH LEANS INTO HIS DOUBLE DOWN TOUR.

Eric Church has given his fans something on tour they probably won’t see from him again…twice. In 2017, he launched his Holdin’ My Own Tour where he performed two full sets with an intermission in-between them with no opening act, and the show lasted between 3 ½ to 4 hours. Earlier this year, he kicked off the Double Down Tour where he does it two nights in a row in the same city, with different set lists. During the previous leg of his Double Down Tour, he brought his show to Nashville’s Nissan Stadium (home of the Tennessee Titans) performing over three hours and nearly 40 songs, setting a new attendance record with 56,521 people, breaking the previous record set by Taylor Swift in 2018.

“I feel like from now on, I hope that we can focus on those people that come one night of the year that they’ve traveled however many miles, they want to hear ‘Round Here Buzz,’ they get to hear ‘Round Here Buzz,’ and I still want it to be unique. I want it to be different, but I don’t know if I did another tour like this. I think that the Double Down Tour was as far as I want to go from a challenge point,” says Eric. “I love that we did it. I love that it was a success. I love that there were people that came to both nights and go it. There were people that came to one of the two nights and got it, but at the same time, it’s not something I would do again. I think that’s good. I think that if you’re a fan, you got to see something that – we stretched and you’re not gonna get to see it again. I’ve been to some of those shows before, a fan of artists, and I knew that I was not gonna see this again. For the Double Down Tour, they saw something they’re never gonna see again.”

Eric will launch the next leg of the Double Down Tour September 13th and 14th in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Double Down Tour dates for Fall 2019:

    September 13 & 14 — Green Bay, WI @ Resch Center

  • MADDIE & TAE RELEASE THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES OF THEIR VIDEO FOR “DIE FROM A BROKEN HEART.”

Maddie & Tae just premiered the behind-the-scenes footage of their video, “Die From a Broken Heart” on People.com. The official video, which just went live a few days ago, already has close to a 1.1 million views, and when fans do a deeper dive into the BTS, they’ll soon discover just how true-to-life the actual video is for Tae Dye, one member of the duo, who suffered a heartbreak just two weeks prior to writing the tune with partner Maddie Marlow, Jonathan Singleton and Deric Ruttan. “Everyone is about to get a front-row seat to my biggest heartbreak,” says Tae, adding, “and I’m terrified.”

Director Carlos Ruiz brought the idea to the pair with Tae acting out the story of the song with Maddie as the “musical narrator.” While the clip doesn’t necessarily echo the reality of Tae’s breakup, the duo did offer up some suggestions.

“This is the most hands on we’ve ever been with a treatment,” says Maddie. “We kinda had the bones, and then we just filled in all the rest. And it was really cool because Carlos (Ruiz) was really kind to let us kind of recreate everything and kind of switch around some things and make it a little more personal. So, it was really cool to get to collaborate together and make this song come to life visually.” Click here for more audio from M&T on making the video for “Die From a Broken Heart.”

The pair has a few dates before rejoining Carrie Underwood and Runaway June on the next leg of the Cry Pretty Tour 360 September 10th in San Diego.

  • PARKER McCOLLUM ADDS FALL DATES TO WHIRLWIND TOURING SCHEDULE.

Six weeks after signing with Universal Music Group Nashville, Parker McCollum has announced a string of headlining shows.

McCollum’s autumn tour will kick off September 12 at Athens, Georgia’s Georgia Theatre. From there, the Texas-based phenomenon will cut a wide circle across the American South and Midwest, making stops in cities like Baton Rouge and Chicago along the way. Tickets for the majority of his performances will go on sale Friday, August 16th, at 10 a.m. local time.

It’s been a year of milestones for Parker McCollum, whom Rolling Stone hails as a “no-holds-barred, confessional singer-songwriter for fans of John Mayer [and] Jason Isbell.” Weeks before announcing his major-label record deal with Universal, the songwriter played a sold-out show at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth — an immense, 5,500-capacity venue that hosted only five sold-out shows during the previous year. In addition, McCollum has recently performed sold-out shows in markets like Corpus Christi, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; and Fayetteville, AK, while also setting a new record for the largest-selling gig in history in San Marcos, TX.

“I like his music, his style and his work ethic, ” said ACM Chairman Ed Warm, on naming McCollum the Breakout Star of 2019.

Although McCollum is currently wrapping up a handful of shows in his home state of Texas, the songwriter’s audience truly stretches from coast to coast. Earlier this summer, thousands of pedestrians in New York City’s Times Square watched as McCollum’s newest video — an emotional duet with fellow country star Danielle Bradbery — premiered on a multi-story electronic billboard. The pair’s updated version of “Shallow,” originally performed by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born, showed a tender side of McCollum, whose songs also shine a light on the road-ready work ethic and Texas-sized hooks that have earned accolades from The Austin ChronicleParade, and dozens of national outlets.

    Parker McCollum’s Fall dates include:

    9/12/19 – Athens, GA @ Georgia Theatre #
    9/26/19 – Nacogdoches, TX @ Banita Creek Hall *
    9/27/19 – Baton Rouge, LA @ Texas Club #

    About Parker McCollum:

A singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and dedicated road warrior, Parker McCollum began building a following in his native Texas with 2015’s The Limestone Kid. The album track “Meet You in The Middle” became a hit on Texas’ regional radio chart — no small feat for an independent, 22-year-old musician — but it was the album’s widely-acclaimed follow-up, Probably Wrong, that helped Parker find national success. Compared to John Mayer and Jason Isbell by Rolling Stone, Parker supported the album with a string of sold-out shows, bringing record-breaking crowds to venues like San Angelo’s RiverStage and a sold-out Billy Bob’s (May 2019) along the way.

Born in Conroe, TX, and currently based in Austin, the 27-year-old entrepreneurially-spirited artist bridges the gap between Texas’ homegrown music scene and Nashville’s country-industry headquarters. His songwriting, which has been hailed by The Austin Chronicle for “carrying on the traditions of Texas music without pretension or referring to pickup trucks,” earned him a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Nashville in May 2018 and a recording deal with Universal Music Group Nashville in June 2019.
