“This mashup is something that I didn’t really, like I kept getting in bits and pieces what it was and I really didn’t understand what it was until I got more information ‘cause I kept hearing it was ‘Take Me Home Country Roads,’ and then I heard ‘I Will Always Love You’ and I’m like what are they doing exactly? When I found out Shane McAnally was in charge, I was like he’s so musical he’s a great songwriter. I know this is gonna be cool and then when I found out that they were using so many different artists, I was just excited and truly honored to be asked.”

Trisha Yearwood (Forever Country) 2 OC: …be her song. 1:19
“John Denver was a pop artist, but ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ is a country song I think if John Denver moved to town now and got a record deal he would definitely be a country artist and you know just the lyric would make sense, take me home country roads. ‘On the Road Again,’ I mean I live that every day of my life, and Willie Nelson is an iconic figure in our industry you know he’s so recognizable from his singing and his look and his, he’s just I love his music so I love that song and it makes sense to be singing ‘On the Road Again’ ‘cause every artist that’s doing this lives that life. ‘I Will Always Love You,’ iconic, Dolly Parton probably one of our best songwriters ever and of course her voice speaks for itself, but that song in particular it’s been recorded by so many people and been a hit for so many people. I mean, I probably heard Linda Ronstadt version of ‘I Will Always Love You’ before I heard Dolly’s ‘cause I was a huge Ronstadt fan when I was a kid…still am. And then of course we all know Whitney made it hugely famous again, but it’s Dolly’s version. It’s that sweet voice singing those lyrics that, and when I heard her in there when I was doing the video just to hear her sing is like, it’s her song and it’ll always be her song.”

Trisha Yearwood (Forever Country) 3 OC: …is so cool. :44
“I mean, I think that, for me the moment where it came together for me is in the singing of it in the studio, I got to really hear really well what everybody else was doing. Most everybody else’s voice was on this when I did my part, so I had the luxury of hearing everybody pretty much and so it was easy to know where to fit, how to blend, and what was happening. And then in there in front of the green screen, you just think about that you’re thinking about the fact that you’re singing right behind Martina McBride, and I got to sing right behind Charley Pride so there’s such a nice mix of every era of country music in this song and the video that I’m just trying not to be giddy the whole time you’re supposed to be emoding, and I’m just really going, ‘This is so cool.’”

“Well, Faith and I got emails from our managers respectively and sort of around the same time I guess and we got it, and you know, we’re such fans of country music, fans of music in general but country music in particular because we grew up with it. We grew up listening to country music and all the people that are involved are people that we love and people we loved ten years ago, twenty years ago and today. And gosh, even 30, 40 years ago- some of the artists that are sitting on this. It was just one of those special times in history, in the history of our music and what they’re doing- we don’t want to not be a part of it. It just felt like something that was really cool to be a part of.”

  • BILLY CURRINGTON’S ‘IT DON’T HURT LIKE IT USED TO’ IS THE NO. 1 COUNTRY SONG.

Billy Currington’s “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To” is the No. 1 song on both the Billboard and Country Aircheck country charts.

He co-wrote the tune, which is his 11th chart topper, with a couple of buddies, Shy Carter and Cary Barlowe. It was just by circumstance the Georgia native ended up writing the song.

“A buddy of mine named Shy Carter called me up, he says ‘Well I’m over here with Cary Barlowe, here at your old publishing company, Major Bob”, the first company that gave me a publishing deal. He says, ‘Why don’t you stop by and say hello?’ So I pulled in, walked in, and we got to talking a little bit and it wasn’t long Cary started playing that guitar that you hear on the project,” says Billy. That melody, he started playing that melody. I don’t know what it was, I just started singing, singing lyrics, they just started coming out and Shy be like ‘Man, let’s write this down, let’s finish this’. Within a couple of hours we had finished the song and…I ain’t wrote a song in quite a while before that so it was nice to kinda get back into writing songs again and getting one on my own album.”

Billy is set to perform in San Antonio, Texas on Friday (October 14th) and Fort Worth on Saturday (October 15th).

  • KEITH URBAN RELEASES THE VIDEO FOR “BLUE AIN’T YOUR COLOR.”

Keith Urban has released the brand new music video for his song “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” the fourth single from his CMA-nominated Album of the Year, RIPCORD. The release includes a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video that was filmed last month at Five Star Bar in Los Angeles.  It can be seen exclusively at http://smarturl.it/btsBlueVideo as can a “Blue Ain’t Your Color” making of at http://smarturl.it/behindBlue.

“Approaching how we would make the music video for this song started with how we could keep the simplicity of the song represented visually,” said Urban.  “I love the idea that we kept it stripped down with a 3-piece band.”

“I got to work with this incredible photographer named Carter Smith, who doesn’t do a lot of videos – an extraordinary still photographer – and we had an incredibly good time making the video,” added Urban.

In addition to Keith and a couple of band members, the black and white clip features actress/model Amber Valletta (Hitch, Transporter 2, Revenge).

Urban, who received four CMA nominations late last month, has already celebrated three No. 1s from RIPCORD, which debuted at No. 1 in three countries. Not only did RIPCORD receive Album of the Year honors (an award that Urban has never won), it garnered Best Vocal Event for “The Fighter” featuring Carrie Underwood.  Urban also received nominations for Best Male Vocalist and the highly coveted Entertainer of the Year.

Urban is currently on the road, his ripCORD WORLD TOUR 2016 that will see concerts in four countries (U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand).

Audio / From his Facebook Live chat last Thursday (September 15th), Keith Urban answered questions about the video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” and he answered one about the inspiration to shoot the video while wearing a suit.

Keith Urban (Blue Ain’t Your Color video) OC: …about that. :28
“[The inspiration] really came from when I did American Idol with Carrie Underwood, and because it was the finale, I played in a suit, and this whole idea kind of started from the idea of playing in a suit. From there, obviously, the story of the song is pretty strong, and we started building the concept from there. But, the initial spark of inspiration was really about that.”

Audio / From his Facebook Live chat last Thursday (September 15th), Keith Urban answered questions about the video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” and for this one, he talked about shooting the clip in an empty bar, giving it a dreamlike feel.

Keith Urban (Blue Ain’t Your Color video) 2 OC: …idea from Carter. :29
“There was something that sort of Carter [Smith] suggested by having it be almost dreamlike. The girl walks into the bar, she’s just not in a good place in life, hits the jukebox, the song starts playing, suddenly we’re on stage, and she’s in the bar and she’s on her own. So, at the end of the video, you’ll see the camera pans around and then the band’s actually not there, and so you wonder was she just imagining the whole thing. It’s very cool. I really like that idea from Carter.”
