• ACM AWARDS 2023: Brothers Osborne Named Duo Of The Year

Brothers Osborne were named Duo Of The Year at Thursday night’s (May 11th) ACM Awards. This is the pair’s fourth win in this category and seventh win overall. After their name was called, the duo made a brief, yet very grateful acceptance speech.

“I’m gonna keep this short and sweet myself, because I’m really hot and I’m really nervous and I’m trying to suck my belly in,” said T.J. “Thank you to everyone and thank you to the fans, we love you!”

John agreed. “Same. Exactly the same,” John Osborne joked. “My wife Lucie can’t be here tonight. We just had twins like seven weeks ago. So Lucie, Arthur, and Maybelle — I love y’all so much and just as much I love our country music community…We love you guys so much. Thank you.”

Backstage, John talked about how grateful they both are for the award and to the country music community. “I walked backstage, and we get a million texts from friends, my wife, from family and stuff like that, and it reminds you constantly of where you came from and the journey that you took,” says John. “There will be a day where we won’t even be nominated, and that’s okay. The reality is nothing is permanent, and we’re fortunately in a position now where we can kind of swim and bask in the glory of something, and that being this country music community has lifted us on their shoulders for years now, and we’d be nothing without them and I’m very grateful for that.”

When asked how the duo were going to celebrate, a hungry TJ joked they were going to be “fancy like” with their pals, Old Dominion. “We heard Old Dominion (winner of ACM Group of the Year) is having a party at Applebee’s, which is incredible. I haven’t had their appetizer sampler in years, so I’m gonna break that streak tonight, (laughs) among many, many other things.”

The guys recently released three songs, including their current single, “Nobody’s Nobody.”

JOHN: “You know, it’s absolutely crazy. I mean, the best way for us to stay grounded is when it happens…it’s a blur on stage. You know, you have an idea of what you’re going to say, it never comes out right. And then, I walked backstage, and we get a million texts from friends, my wife, from family and stuff like that, and it reminds you constantly of where you came from and the journey that you took. Multi-Platinum MCA Nashville singer/songwriter Parker McCollum toasted the upcoming release of his new album, Never Enough, with a star-studded celebration hosted by Lucchese last night (May 9th) in Frisco, Texas. McCollum, alongside family, friends, industry, and high-profile guests stepped into an immersive album experience as excitement builds for Never Enough ahead of its Friday (5/12) release. See photos from the event HERE.

Lucchese teamed up with UMG Nashville and McCollum to thoughtfully transform each space throughout Dee Lincoln Prime, all rooms paying tribute to a track from Never Enough. The “Burn it Down” room featured custom Lucchese candles and cigars, while the “Handle On You” room nodded to the song’s dark bar and whiskey themes with Crown Royal. A “Hurricane” room boasted a southern-Louisiana aesthetic with a raw bar and hurricanes for sipping, and the “Tails I Lose” space was complete with an old school jukebox and disco ball.

Never Enough releases on the heels of McCollum’s third consecutive #1 smash, “Handle On You.” The album bristles with honesty and attitude, shot through with equal parts rock guitar and country songwriting. Produced by Jon Randall, Never Enough pairs McCollum with some of the most esteemed songwriters from Texas to Music Row on 15 tracks that underscore authenticity, vulnerability, and a little bit of defiance.

Carrie Underwood (Entertainer nomination) OC: …that category. :47
“It is, I mean, obviously such an honor to be nominated in Entertainer of the Year. Obviously, that’s such a tough category to be in, ‘cause there’s just so, I don’t even want to call it competition, there’s just so many hard working artists out there that are just you know pouring themselves and their time and their energy and their love and their artistry into what they do. You know, obviously just to even be in the final category is just absolutely amazing and hopefully, above all, we can all just remember that it’s a celebration of a great year in country music and in our careers as artists, so we’ll just see what happens, but definitely excited to be in that category.”

Audio / JORDAN DAVIS TALKS ABOUT HIS ACM NOMINATION FOR MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR.

Jordan Davis (ACM 2023 Male nod) OC: …win for me. :49
“I haven’t been that shocked in a long time. Definitely the most shocked I’ve been since I started doing music. It was definitely shocked to see that I was in that category. I knew I made it through to the last round, but, honestly, I was, y’all see the other nominees in there, some heavy hitters. So, to hear my name first, it was pure shock. But now too, in 2019, I was up for New Artist, so I think it goes to show that I’ve got a great team and great fans, and two, we made some great music that is connecting with people. The awards are amazing, but to be nominated with those guys is a huge win for me.”

Jon Pardi (ACM nomination 2023) OC: …always great. :20
“’Mr. Saturday Night’ being nominated for Album of the Year is an accomplishment, and a lot of hard work went into it and a lot of hard work goes out touring it. It’s just a great record. We picked out songs, wrote songs, went to Key West to record vocals which is cool. Just to get nominated by songwriters and publishers and the industry is always great.”

“Hey everybody! I’m Tanya, and I’m Michael, and we’re The War and Treaty. (Michael) This morning, April 13th, we woke up and to be able to see Bobby Bones do the nominations for the ACMS ad get to the category of Duo of the Year, and we were just callin’ ‘em out. We were like, ‘Brooks & Dunn,’ ‘Dan + Shay,’ and we were like ‘Brothers Osborne,’ Brothers Osborne, yes! Dan + Shay, Dan + Shay, and we was like, ‘Yes.’ We were like, ‘Maddie & Tae,’ we was like ‘Yes,’ and then time slowed down. They were like The War and Treaty. And honestly, we burst into tears, we screamed, we yelled, we high-fived, we hugged our manager, Christina. In our minds then traveled back in time and forward. We traveled to Charly Pride, DeFord Bailey and Ray Charles, and we were like, ‘I hope they’re seeing this wherever they are, and I hope they’re dancing and high-fiving as well. Thank you, ACMs.” TANYA: “Thank you so much to the ACMs and everybody who’s nominated and all of our peers in country music.”

This is my second year being nominated, and it’s such an honor. Gosh, I think about five years ago when I would’ve dreamed of being here, so I’m really excited, and it’s gonna be in Texas, so I’m ready. I’m ready to party, baby!”

  • “CMT CROSSROADS: The Black Crowes & Darius Rucker” premieres Tuesday, May 16th at 10p/9c.

CMT today revealed the newest installment of the iconic “CMT Crossroads” franchise featuring multi-platinum rock band The Black Crowes and 3x GRAMMY® award-winning singer-songwriter Darius Rucker. “CMT Crossroads: The Black Crowes & Darius Rucker” premieres with a special one-hour presentation on Tuesday, May 16th at 10p/9c, with an immediate encore at 11p/10c, and on Friday, May 19th at 12a/11c. It will also go live on Wednesday, May 17th on CMT.com, CMT VOD and the MTV app (CMT Crossroads), with subsequent premieres on CMT MUSIC and MTV LIVE.

“CMT Crossroads: The Black Crowes & Darius Rucker” pairs the legendary rockers with cross-genre superstar Rucker – known equally for his phenomenal country music career, as well as fronting the multi-platinum band, Hootie & the Blowfish. The episode has the longtime friends swapping stories and performing on each other’s most-celebrated songs, including can’t-miss renditions of The Black Crowes’ “Hard To Handle,” “She Talks to Angels,” and “Remedy,” Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel” and “Let Her Cry,” along with a rousing delivery of Drivin N Cryin’s quintessential Southern rock anthem “Straight To Hell.

Shared Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes: “It was really cool getting to do Crossroads with Darius. We both come from similar music scenes in the south and we have a shared admiration for a lot of the same music. Darius has such a powerful voice and has written some great songs. I’m glad we finally got to share the stage with our friend!”

Said Darius Rucker: “I’ve been a fan of The Black Crowes for decades, and I’m grateful that we’ve also become good friends over the years. The first time I heard ‘She Talks to Angels,’ I remember being so moved by the lyrics that I went around Columbia, South Carolina asking every single bar to play it. I went home that night and put on Bonnie Raitt’s Home Plate, and decided I was going to try to write ‘She Talks to Angels’ for her. ‘Let Her Cry’ was what poured out of me. These guys have been so impactful on my career and sharing the stage with them was a blast.”

This episode of the critically-acclaimed music series was filmed outdoors in front of a live audience in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas as part of “CMT MUSIC AWARDS WEEK,” giving fans a one-of-a-kind opportunity to be a part of the magic. The crowd of thousands also found themselves in the presence of rock royalty as the pre-eminent Chuck Leavell (The Allman Brothers and The Rolling Stones) performed alongside The Black Crowes & Rucker on keyboards.

In advance of the May 16th “CMT Crossroads” debut, The Black Crowes and Rucker took the stage on April 2nd at Austin’s Moody Center to deliver a world premiere live performance of “She Talks to Angels” at the 2023 CMT MUSIC AWARDS. Watch the moving performance, with Leavell once again on keys, here.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD AND LUDACRIS CELEBRATE RIAA DOUBLE PLATINUM FOR “THE CHAMPION.”

Global superstars Carrie Underwood and Ludacris reunited Thursday night (May 4th) at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to celebrate their hit collaboration “The Champion” earning its RIAA Double Platinum certification. The song, written by Underwood with Brett James, Chris DeStefano, and Christopher Bridges (aka Ludacris), and produced by Jim Jonsin, was initially used to open NBC’s Super Bowl LII and was incorporated into the network’s coverage of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The event anthem quickly hit No. 1 in 10 countries including the U.S.

    https://twitter.com/carrieunderwood/status/1654300879980306436

Underwood and Ludacris also released a poignant and powerful montage music video, directed by Jimmy Lynch, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the pair recording the song as well as historic moments and footage highlighting professional athletes and everyday champions.  Fans then started sharing their own champion-inspired photos and videos across social media using #TheChampion.

Carrie, who is making her way up the country charts with “Hate My Heart,” recently announced her exclusive year-round SiriusXM channel, CARRIE’S COUNTRY, which will launch in June.  The 8-time GRAMMY Award winner will also relaunch her hit REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency at Resorts World Las Vegas in June.

Carrie Underwood (Ludacris) OC: …a whole new level. 1:10
“Ludacris came into the picture when we were writing this song ‘The Champion,’ we left a space in it for a potential guest appearance, a potential feature. And we went ‘round and ‘round about who do we approach, who do we ask, and in my mind, the style of the song with somebody that had his own thing, had a kind of legend status. I wanted something big. I wanted an artist that matched the song, and Ludacris, everything about him just seemed to scream ‘Champion’ to me, and he was just so great. And so we sent him everything and he put his part on it, and when we got it back, I thought, ‘Holy Cow! This took it to a whole new level.’ So, I think he was just that piece of the puzzle that was missing, and from the second that I heard it, I was like that was exactly the perfect person to be a part of this. Like I could never imagine anybody else being a part of this, and he just, again, took it to another level.”

  • MOTHER’S DAY AUDIO 2023

Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 14th, and some of your favorite country artists are celebrating the mothers in their lives this weekend. In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother’s Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.

Carrie Underwood (Mother’s Day traditions) OC: …even more so. :38
“We don’t really have like any Mother’s Day traditions. I feel like I remember me and Dad making breakfast for Mom like once as a kid. I’m pretty sure we just made a giant mess in the kitchen and we never did that again, so. Being on the other side of things, I obviously don’t expect anything, but my husband’s really good at getting presents from quote unquote Isaiah. It’s really sweet, because he likes to bring me things. He’s such a sweet little guy, and anytime he’s outside, he’ll pick me flowers and things. So, I’m like, ‘You’re learning. You’ve already got me wrapped around your finger, and then you do stuff like that, and it’s even more so.’”

    Caylee Hammack (Mother’s Day) 1 OC: …love fully. :53
“I love that my Mom is a no-nonsense woman. I love that she always speaks her mind and she’s super stubborn, because she handed it down to me and it’s come in handy, to be honest. She’s a great cook. I wish I was half the cook that she is. She’s obsessive about Tupperware and plates, which I used to hate, but now as an adult whenever I break a dish or something, I just call her, and I know that I have one on standby. I love that she loves random things so that I can squirrel them away and take them to Nashville sometimes. And I love that she loves big. She either gives all of her heart or nothing at all; she always gives all of her heart. She loves, you know, she has a bleeding heart, and I think that’s just one of the most beautiful traits in the world is to love fully.”

“So, my mom, man, my mom’s a trooper. I mean she’s always been a soldier for me, my brother and my sister. I saw my mom work two jobs and struggle to even buy us Christmas presents on Christmas, you know. She’s definitely taught me a lot in my life – definitely one of the biggest ones is patience. She’s taught me that patience is a virtue, learn from my mistakes and just never give up on something that I love and dream about.”

Darius Rucker (favorite memory of his mother) OC: …my Mom’s song. :34
“Oh goodness! A lot of great memories of her, but probably one of my favorite memories, I was a young kid, probably eight or nine, and she was in the kitchen cooking and listening to the gospel station and Shirley Caesar’s ‘No Charge’ came on and she was singing ‘No Charge.’ I just remember I ran into our living room which was adjoined to our kitchen and I just sat there and I just listened to her sing that song, and I remember thinking, ‘Wow! What an amazing voice.’ That’s just always a memory I’ve always had, and that song still to this day when I hear it just moves me because that was my mom’s song.”

Darius Rucker (Mother’s Day) OC: …killed me. :17

“I think that’s the main reason I am how I am…an innate fear of disappointing my mom.  My mom’s not even alive, and I have a fear of her looking down from heaven and going, ‘Man I’m just disappointed in my son.’ She could have said anything in the world to me, but if she would have said, ‘Son, you just disappointed me,’ That would have killed me. It would have killed me.”

Darius Rucker (Mother) OC: …in my corner. :44
“My mom was just always great. She worked a lot. She was a nurse and she worked a lot. She took a lot of overtime and stuff to make sure we could live basically, but she always just so supportive, ever since I was a kid. I was always a music kid. Growing up in an African-American neighborhood, I was never that guy who was gonna be pigeonholed to let people say I could only listen to this and I could only do this, because I was African-American. She always supported whatever I wanted to do, whatever I wanted to listen to, wherever I wanted to go, she always had my back. Going to college and everything, she was my biggest supporter and never let my brothers and sisters knock me down or try to tell me I can’t do this or that. All of my success comes because my mother was always in my corner.”

Dierks Bentley (Mother’s Day – Cassidy) OC: …to have her. :
“It’s the toughest job out there being a mom, and I know from my life with my wife Cassidy. We work as a team together when I’m home, and it takes everyone to get the job done, me and her, working together. So, when I go on the road, I just have so much respect for her because it’s hard to do it right, if you want to do it great, and she does a great job with it. It’s really rewarding, but it’s also very challenging. I’m so thankful that she takes it on the way she does, and our kids are very lucky to have her.”

Audio / Eric Church says he’s learned quite a bit from his mom.

    Download

    Eric Church (Mother’s Day) OC: …as a man. :57
“My mom, even though my dad won’t like this, my mom is by far the toughest person that I’ve met. She’s tough. One of those people that’s been through a lot in her life, adversity wise and never complains, always really resilient with anything that’s happened to her. And it’s just that attitude, the positive attitude, regardless of what has happened that I think is the one thing that I got from her. With career, she’s always been a person that’s been really positive through times that I couldn’t find a positive streak, [laughs] and she was always really positive, and very much believes in tough it out, keep working hard, and that’s her motto with stuff like that. I’ve always been impressed with that stuff. Then musically, she’s where I get my talent from, musically. She sings great, always has, her mom sang great. I owe my musical chops to her. And she still sings some. So, career-wise, I owe her everything. And just in life-wise she’s given me a lot of the qualities that it has taken for me to get me where I am. Not only as a musician, but as a man.”

Audio / Jon Pardi says his mother, Shelly, is an angel.

Jon Pardi (Mother’s Day) OC: …worrying about me. :29
“My mom’s always been there for me. First of all, she’s a great mom. She’s an angel. She takes care of people that aren’t even in the family. She’s always been like that, and she’s a great mother. She’s always proud, and she’s always there supporting and being a great mom. She’s just a good human being. There’s not one mean bone in her body. And she cries about every time I talk to her. She always worries about me. I have to tell her, ‘Stop worrying about me.’”

Audio / Jon Pardi says wife Summer is a great Mom.

    Download

    Jon Pardi (Mother’s Day-Summer 2023) OC: …you know? :41
“Summer’s been a great Mom. She was meant to be a Mom, really. She popped that baby out in like 45 minutes. It was crazy. Everybody was like, ‘Aw, 12 hour labor.’ And it was just like, boop, popped right out. She looks great. She’s definitely tired all the time, but it’s been fun. It’s been fun. It’s been easy, ‘cause Summer does all the work. I’m ready for the truck rides and the conversations and that stuff. (But) I do change the diapers and whatever Summer tells me to do, I do it. I hear some fathers don’t like to change diapers, and I’m just like, ‘It’s just poop.’ But she’s so cute, so and she loves when you take her diaper off. It’s like freedom (slams table), you know?”

Audio / JORDAN DAVIS SAYS HE’S A “MAMA’S BOY” AND HOPES HE HAS HER KINDNESS AND POSITIVE OUTLOOK.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Mother’s Day) OC: …Mother’s Day. :30 [laughs]
“I’m a Mama’s Boy. I love my Mom, and it’s the way she finds the good in everything. With my Mom, as opposed to finding anything negative, she’s gonna find something positive first. That’s something I really hope I can be more like her on; one of the many things I wish I could be more like my mom on. My mom, she loves flowers, so we’ll get her flowers or take her to, we’re slowly getting her into sushi, so we love to take Mom out to sushi spots on Mother’s Day.” [laughs]

Audio / Kylie Morgan glowingly talks about her wonderfully supportive mother.

Kylie Morgan (Mother’s Day) OC: …that she is. :56
“So, my mom was actually a singer when she was my age, as well, and she decided to be a mama instead. So, when I told her what I wanted to do for a living, she was at first a little, a little scared for me, because it’s a hard road and you have to have a thick skin, but she also is the reason that I am where I am, because she told me I could make it, and I damn sure think I’m going to because of her. And so, every single karaoke contest and every single show that I was playing to no one, she would be there, and she would give me my compliments and then she’d give me my critiques. That’s what I love about her is because she was always there for me no matter what. And that sounds so cliché to say sometimes, like, ‘You’re always there for me,’ but truly in every single moment that I needed someone to be there whether it was a phone call or she was sitting right next to me, she knew exactly what to say and exactly who to be in the situation, which I just hope to be half the woman that she is.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman says she always dreamed of being a mother…and her dream came true nearly 16 years ago when she gave birth to daughter, Daisy (July 27, 2007). In 2017, she and her family welcomed daughter Dolly Grace.

LBT (Mother’s Day) OC: …for my mother. :34
“Being a mother is a life-long dream for me. When I was a kid, that’s what I wanted to be is a mama. It took a long time. I wasn’t ever sure that I would be, but I am now, and it’s the greatest gift of my life. And as I’m a mother now, I see what my mother gave up and her sacrifices and her love and how she made us the most important thing in her life, and that’s what I strive to do for my little girl. It’s the most important job I have, and it’s the most responsibility that I have, and I try to live up to a great example that I had for my mother.”

Audio / MADDIE & TAE’S TAE DYE SAID SHE PULLED OFF A GREAT MOTHER’S DAY SURPRISE A FEW YEARS AGO.

    Download

    Maddie & Tae (Mother’s Day-Tae) OC: …was so fun. :25
TAE: “To this day one of the best surprises I’ve ever pulled off was on Mother’s Day three years ago. ‘Cause my mom’s birthday always tends to fall on Mother’s Day Weekend – it’s coming up – and my mom and dad were coming into Nashville and I was like, ‘Okay-this has got to be a big weekend. It’s Mother’s Day, her birthday and the weather was going to be beautiful, so I planned this awesome surprise where we would drive first – she wouldn’t know where we were going, and then we ended up going canoeing down the Harpeth River [located south of Nashville], and it was so fun.”

Audio / Maddie & Tae’s Maddie Marlow says her mother is great at balancing life and that a hug from her mother can fix almost anything.

    Download

    Maddie & Tae (Mother’s Day-Maddie) OC: (Maddie) …everything’s okay. :51
MADDIE: “She is so good at balancing is what I’m trying to say. My Mom is such a great balancer, but as I’m coming into our adulthood, and all that kind of stuff, she’s very conscious about when I’m trying to be perfect and have everything in order with everything. And she’s like, you can’t. You can’t do that. Life, you have to figure out how you’re going to deal with the curveballs that are thrown out you. Are you going to catch them and whine out about it or are you going to catch them and move on? Like you have to just go with what’s thrown at you. And my Dad’s been a really, really good supporter on just not letting life’s trials bring you down and letting them just be learning tools and all of that. But, most of the time, a Mama hug can really fix anything.” TAE: “Ahh…it’s the best.” MADDIE: “If my Mom hugs me while I’m crying, everything’s okay. There’s just something about it. I’m grown, but, my Mom, if she hugs me, everything’s okay.”

Audio / Parker McCollum talks about what he admires about his mother.

    Download

Parker McCollum (Mother’s Day) OC: …those from her. :20
“I mean, she’s just a fantastic woman who went above and beyond for us as kids to always make sure, probably even when we weren’t able to have things, she still made those happen. Everybody says I look like her. She’s just an incredibly caring and very, very sincere person, so I would hope I got those from her.”

Audio / Sam Hunt says he hit the Mom lottery with his own mother.

Sam Hunt (Mother’s Day) OC: … with my mom. 1:10
“I knew I had a great mother, and I was blessed and lucky to be born into my family, but until I got out into the real world, I didn’t realize how unique and rare and how much I really hit the lottery with her. She’s raised in the South, and she is all the things that a lot of Southern women are, the good things, but selfless is the word that comes to mind right off the bat. Her life has been devoted to me, my brothers and our family for as long as I can remember her. So, her life revolved around us and that was something that the love that she showed us through those sacrifices has been, I know, a huge part of my ability to go out into the world and cope with all the things that come my way. I’m standing on firm ground, I know, because I grew up in a loving household and that started with my mom.”

Audio / Back in 2009, Taylor Swift talked about writing and recording “The Best Day” for her mother, Andrea. In the song, she sings about her childhood, and how her mom and other members of her family served as a refuge for her during tough emotional times.

Taylor (The Best Day) OC: …her eyes out. :21
“The best day is the song I wrote without telling my mom. I wrote it in the summertime, and I recorded it secretly too, and I had this idea that I wanted to play it for her for Christmas. And so when I got the track, I synched up all these home videos from when I was a little kid to go along with the song like a music video. And played it for her on Christmas Eve, and she was crying her eyes out.”

Audio / TRAVIS DENNING TALKS ABOUT WHAT HE AND HIS MOM HAVE IN COMMON.

    Download

Travis Denning (Mother’s Day) OC: …like crazy. :29
“You know, my favorite thing about my mom, especially as I get older, is realizing how much me and her have in common. I just love that she’s passionate about music. She loves it. I mean, she’s turned me on to a lot of artists, but at the core like she’s still Mom. She reminds me to do things and does these things which that I couldn’t live without. I love that we get to be friends, we get to be best friends, but at the same time, she’s still Mom and she still loves me and my sister like crazy.”

Audio / Tyler Hubbard talks about the best qualities of both his mom and his wife.

    Download

Tyler Hubbard (Mother’s Day) OC: …cool to see. :42
“I’d say my own Mom I respect and really appreciate how she, she knows what she believes and she stands for it, you know? And she has her boundaries, and she knows what she believes and I just respect that. I think that’s really cool, and I’ve always looked up to her for that. As far as my wife being a mother, it’s incredible to watch her be a mom. I would say the first thing that would come to mind is patience. I think she’s a really patient person, and with three little kids, patience really is a virtue and it’s definitely a virtue that I don’t have a lot of and so I respect and admire it even more in her and try to learn from her. But, yeah, I’d say patience is one of her greatest qualities and gifts, and as a mom, especially, it’s really cool to see.”

  • PARKER McCOLLUM SCORES THIRD NO. 1 SINGLE, “HANDLE ON YOU.”

Parker McCollum has hit the top of the Country Aircheck/Mediabase country chart with his latest smash, “Handle On You.” He co-wrote the gold-certified single with Monty Criswell, and it’s the follow-up to his prior #1 hits — his multi-Platinum debut “Pretty Heart” and Platinum “To Be Loved By You.” “Handle On You” is the lead single from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, Never Enough, out Friday (May 12th).

Parker filmed the video for “Handle On You” back at his family’s ranch in East Texas. While it was a long day of filming, he was able to have fun with the video.

“I’ve done like three music videos out there,” he says. “Any time they’re like they want to film some content of you, I’m like boom, this is an excuse to go to the ranch. If I’m doing a music video it’s an excuse to drive one of my cars, which I really – music videos are kind of a brutal process, they’re pretty boring and they are long days, and so if you can throw in just ripping your Corvette around for an hour or two, it makes it pretty fun. So, I thought the video spoke really well to the song.”

Directed by Jim Wright, the beautifully shot video gives insight into the push and pull of balancing a career that you love but takes you away from home and the people closest to you – striking a middle ground with humble perspective.

“Everybody that wanted to do or pitch a treatment for a music video for ‘Handle On You’ wanted to do it in a bar, and I just said, ‘Man, that’s not my life in a bar anymore. My life is complete chaos 100 miles an hour and then absolute dead silence, and it’s back and forth from one extreme to the other at all times.’ I thought we did a pretty good job in the video kind of showing that,” says Parker.

The Texas native is following up his breakout major label debut, Gold Chain Cowboy, with his forthcoming studio album, Never Enough, out Friday (May 12th).
