  • DARIUS RUCKER RELEASES POWERFUL RENDITION OF “LIFT ME UP,” AVAILABLE NOW.

Darius Rucker offers a powerful take on Rihanna’s Oscar-nominated “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” theme song, “Lift Me Up,” with his version of the anthemic ballad available everywhere now. Listen HERE.

Written by Rihanna together with filmmaker Ryan Coogler, composer Ludwig Göransson and Nigerian singer Tems as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who starred in the original “Black Panther,” the song plays over the end credits of the film, which is where Rucker first fell in love with its message.

“I’ve been a huge fan of comics since I was a kid, and I love all of the Marvel movies, so I couldn’t wait to see ‘Wakanda Forever’ when it came out a few months ago,” explains Rucker. “I was so moved by this song playing at the end of the movie and I felt inspired to try my hand at singing it. I hope y’all love this version we created as much as I do.”

The release comes as Rucker puts the finishing touches on his forthcoming album, Carolyn’s Boy, and follows the news earlier this week that his Riverfront Revival Music Festival will return to Charleston this fall for its second year, with lineups for the October 7-8 event to be announced soon. Early access tickets are available now via RiverfrontRevival.com.

  • CHRIS STAPLETON MAY HAVE MANIFESTED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT THE SUPER BOWL.

Chris Stapleton will be singing the National Anthem at Sunday’s (February 12th) Super Bowl. The multi-platinum artist and 8-time Grammy winner been quoted in the past he would perform the anthem unless it was at the Super Bowl. During an Apple Music press conference this week, he said he may have manifested the invitation.

“It’s one of those calls you think you’re not gonna get. And then you get the call and you’re like, ‘Okay, let’s do this!,'” says Chris. “I think I said it ‘cause I thought I wouldn’t get asked. The national anthem’s not an easy song for singers, and it’s one that can go horribly wrong as we’ve seen many times in the past. Hopefully it won’t happen for me, knock on wood. But yeah, no, if you’re gonna do it, this is the place to do it.”

Oscar winner Troy Kotsur will sign the national anthem alongside Stapleton. Kotsur won an Academy Award in 2022 for Best Supporting Actor for his work in “CODA,” becoming the second Deaf person ever to win an acting Oscar after Marlee Matlin.

  • SAM HUNT RELEASES NEW SONG, “WALMART.”

Multi-Platinum-selling hitmaker Sam Hunt releases new song “Walmart” today. Hunt and co-writers Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne maintain an undercurrent in “Walmart” that life has a way of working out, as Hunt transports the listener to a small town run in with an ex’s mother. Hunt is introspective while looking back on open-ended questions of his past, now with the knowledge of life and years gone by.

    Listen to “Walmart” HERE

“Walmart” serves as the latest from the five-time GRAMMY nominee, following his nostalgic “Start Nowhere” and his current Top 20-and-climbing radio hit “Water Under the Bridge.”

“Walmart” Lyrics – written by Sam Hunt, Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne

We parted ways in the summer, told me goodbye through your tears

I used to run into you over Christmas, but I hadn’t seen you in years

I used to think that I messed up, wonder if I should’ve stayed

I thought I’d always regret letting you go but all that regret went away

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

She had your eyes and your smile, she had your nose and your lips

Somewhere in our little small-town, small talk girl

Lost in the grocery aisle, holding a bag of some chips

I realize that everything happens for a reason

Losing your love ain’t the end of the world

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

Your little girl, your little girl

She asked me how I was doing, I didn’t know what to say

I kept replaying how you used to say that you wanted a family someday

Someday was just an illusion, when this town was all that we knew

You told me you’d never get over me, honestly, part of me hoped that was true

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

She had your eyes and your smile, she had your nose and your lips

Somewhere in our little small-town, small talk girl

Lost in the grocery aisle, holding a bag of some chips

I realize that everything happens for a reason

Losing your love ain’t the end of the world

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

Your little girl, your little girl

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

She had your eyes and your smile, she had your nose and your lips

Somewhere in our little small-town, small talk girl

Lost in the grocery aisle, holding a bag of some chips

I realize that everything happens for a reason

Losing your love ain’t the end of the world

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

    Your little girl

I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl

Your little girl, your little girl

  • VINCE GILL CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIT ALBUM, NEXT BIG THING.

This week marks the 20th anniversary of Vince Gill’s hit album, Next Big Thing, his 11th album for MCA Nashville, which released on February 11th, 2003. To mark the occasion, the music video from one of the album’s singles, “Someday,” was remastered in HD, and the video made its broadcast premiere on CMT, CMT Music and ViacomCBS Times Square Billboards.

Next Big Thing was a collection of songs that I’m really proud of as a songwriter,” say Gill. “It was also the first record of my own I ever produced, and I was pleased to discover the process was still the same—great musicians, great engineers—all with a common goal, to serve a song. Adds Gill, “I was honored to have written ‘Someday’ with a dear old friend, Richard Marx, one of the most talented guys I’ve ever known.”
