• CARRIE UNDERWOOD DEBUTS CINEMATIC MUSIC VIDEO FOR “GHOST STORY.”

On the eve of her exciting return to headline the legendary Stagecoach Festival, 8-time GRAMMY® Award winner Carrie Underwood debuts the World Premiere of the cinematic official music video for her new single “Ghost Story,” available now on all platforms.

Underwood has also teamed up with YouTube for an exclusive Stagecoach Pre-Party on April 30 at 9:50pm PT, only available to YouTube Premium members here, which will take place just prior to her livestreamed headline performance from Stagecoach beginning 10:00pm PT (Watch Here).

Released March 18th, “Ghost Story” is currently climbing the charts and is the lead single from Underwood’s just-announced album Denim & Rhinestones, out June 10th.

The music video was directed by Underwood’s longtime collaborator, acclaimed director and photographer, Randee St. Nicholas, who has shot numerous videos with Underwood throughout her career, including “Cry Pretty,” “Drinking Alone,” “Blown Away,” “Smoke Break,” and 2020’s “Hallelujah” with John Legend, all of which have been honored as CMT’s fan-voted Video of the Year, as well as now-iconic artwork for many of Underwood’s albums such as Blown Away,  Storyteller, Cry Pretty, and now, Denim & Rhinestones.

“Ghost Story” was written by Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia and co-produced by David Garcia and Underwood. The hot new single was performed by the superstar on the recent 64th Annual GRAMMY® Awards, and also for the 2022 CMT Music Awards, in a show-stopping, high-flying version from the stage of the Resorts World Theatre, home of her REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency.

The music video was filmed in downtown L.A. at famed 1931 movie palace, the Los Angeles Theatre.  With its crystal chandeliers, marble, gold leaf, silk damask wall coverings, and an extraordinary fountain of marble and crystal in the upper lobby, the beautiful and historic location set the tone for the haunting story of a past love affair, where one person has moved on and is living her life while the other is haunted by her memory everywhere he turns and in everything he does.  The ambience is sensual and moody, with a tip of the hat to the glamour of “Moulin Rouge.”

Underwood, who also performs on a trapeze in the video, says, “Randee St. Nicholas has an incredible eye and always knows how to film everything in the most unique and beautiful way.  I am very visually-oriented and from the first time I heard ‘Ghost Story,’ I had a vision for how I wanted to bring this song to life in performance and Randee always takes everything to a whole other artistic level beyond my own imagination.”

The Denim & Rhinestones album is Underwood’s latest collaboration with David Garcia, having co-produced her critically-acclaimed 2018 release, Cry Pretty, which marked the first time she produced her own album.  Garcia and Underwood also co-produced her 2021 GRAMMY® Award-winning album of gospel hymns, My Savior.

The Denim & Rhinestones Signed CD Box Set and Vinyl Box Sets are available for preorder now, which include an exclusive t-shirt, rhinestone pack, denim tote bag, and album slip mat in limited quantities here. Fans can order from physical retailers here. The vinyl edition will be available in July and a cassette version on August 5.

Underwood recently won her 8th GRAMMY® Award for Best Roots Gospel Album for My Savior, where she and Jason Aldean were also nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their smash hit #1 duet, “If I Didn’t Love You.”  The duo won ACM Single of the Year as well as two 2022 CMT Music Awards for “If I Didn’t Love You” – Collaborative Video of the Year and Video of the Year, continuing Underwood’s reign as the most awarded artist in CMT history with 25 total wins.  The multi-week #1 “If I Didn’t Love You” has spent a record-setting 26 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard Country Airplay so far, with more than 364 million global streams RTD.

She continues her ongoing, REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency at the Resorts World Theatre in May, having opened the new 5,000-capacity, world-class theatre, the first artist to grace the largest and tallest stage in Las Vegas, with sold-out shows in December 2021 and March 2022.

“We would always have the Easter Egg Hunt before church. You know, my mom, she would dress us in these ridiculous, pastel-colored, gosh, good Lord, I’m sorry for saying this, but the worst part about Easter for me is some of the photos I have of what my mom dressed us in. It was hideous! But yeah, that was it growing up. We would have our Easter Egg Hunt, and I think for me early on, and probably like a lot of kids, Easter was another Sunday where it was a very mini, mini Christmas. We’d get some candy, every once in a while, we’d get a present, something that we wanted, we’d go to church, and everybody looked great. It was like the day to wear the new dress or the guys had these crazy ties on or something like that. And it really wasn’t until, I think, I was able to kinda hit my high school years and kind of start to strengthen my faith that I realized how special that holiday was.”

My parents would always dress us up in these really cute springy outfits. But, yeah, Easter with family is always so much fun.” MADDIE: “Our Easter was very similar. My grandma would always get us this white chocolate cross with little flowers on it. It was so delicious. And me and my sister typically had matching dresses, which annoyed me at the time, but looking back it was precious. But Easter for us, Tae and I love us some Jesus! That is our favorite dude ever! (TAE: “That’s what Easter means.”) And so Easter is all about praising Jesus for his sacrifice so that we can know God and Him and just live a life full of purpose and hope and joy.”

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM DENIM & RHINESTONES JUNE 10th.

Multi-platinum, 8-time GRAMMY® Award winner Carrie Underwood will release her highly anticipated album, Denim & Rhinestones, on June 10, 2022.  Underwood surprised fans with the reveal of her album cover yesterday and a new album trailer today.

The title track, Denim & Rhinestones,” and its accompanying lyric video, are also available today. The upbeat track was written by Underwood, David Garcia, Josh Kear, and Hillary Lindsey, and co-produced by Garcia and Underwood.  Garcia co-wrote Underwood’s hit songs “Love Wins,” “Southbound,” and “Drinking Alone.”  Lindsey and Underwood have collaborated on a string of hits such as “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “So Small,” “Last Name,” “Smoke Break,” “Church Bells,” and the now-iconic title track, “Cry Pretty.” Kear co-wrote Underwood’s signature hits, “Before He Cheats” and “Blown Away,” and co-wrote another cinematic classic, “Two Black Cadillacs” with Underwood and Lindsey.

Underwood co-wrote 11 of the 12 tracks on Denim & Rhinestones with many of her frequent collaborators such as David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey, Josh Miller, Ashley Gorley, Josh Kear, and Chris DeStefano, who have written many of Underwood’s biggest hits.  She also welcomes more recent co-writers on the album, including Michael Hardy and Lydia Vaughan, the latter of whom co-wrote “If I Didn’t Love You,” Underwood’s multi-week #1 smash hit duet with Jason Aldean.

Denim & Rhinestones is the latest project between Underwood and David Garcia, having co-produced her critically acclaimed 2018 release, Cry Pretty, which marked the first time Underwood produced her own album.  Garcia and Underwood also co-produced Underwood’s 2021 GRAMMY® Award-winning album of gospel hymns, My Savior.

    Denim & Rhinestones Track List:

    1. Denim & Rhinestones (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey)
    2. Velvet Heartbreak (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey)
    3. Ghost Story (David Garcia, Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey)
    4. Hate My Heart (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Michael Hardy, Hillary Lindsey)
    5. Burn (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Ashley Gorley, Hillary Lindsey)
    6. Crazy Angels (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Lydia Vaughan)
    7. Faster (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey)
    8. Pink Champagne (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Ashley Gorley, Hillary Lindsey)
    9. Wanted Woman (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Josh Miller)
    10. Poor Everybody Else (Carrie Underwood, Chris DeStefano, Josh Miller)
    11. She Don’t Know (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey)
    12. Garden (Carrie Underwood, David Garcia, Josh Miller)

Underwood says of Denim & Rhinestones, “We cover a lot of ground on this album.  We have a lot of songs that have a bit of a ‘throwback’ feel, but they sound super fresh.  I grew up listening to so many different kinds of music and that is extremely evident in this body of work.  These are musical influences that are all in me and work their way out, and I just decided this time not to get in their way.  I think this whole album ended up being a big reflection of me as a person and as an artist.”

Underwood says, “After spending over two years with My Gift and My Savior, which were such passion projects and so close to my heart, putting together REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency was really the catalyst for this album.  I was just ready to have fun and to write songs that make me happy to listen to and happy to sing.”

Discussing the title track, Underwood says, “The song ‘Denim & Rhinestones’ is super fun, with a bit of a retro vibe – we just go together, like a sweet tea and a lemon, like denim and rhinestones.  You have these things that are great on their own and then you put them together and they just fit. That’s how this album feels.”

Garcia says, “Carrie is one of the greatest singers of our time. Her power and control in the studio is unparalleled. We had such a great time making this record, and it turned out exactly how we wanted it to!”

Denim & Rhinestones Signed CD Box Set and Vinyl Box Sets are available for preorder now which includes an exclusive t-shirt, rhinestone pack, denim tote bag, and album slip mat in limited quantities here. Fans can order from physical retailers here. The vinyl edition will be available in July and a cassette version on August 5.

The album announcement comes on the heels of Underwood’s 8th GRAMMY® Award win for Best Roots Gospel Album for My Savior on April 3, where she performed the first new single from the album, “Ghost Story.” The single was released on March 18 and is climbing the charts with over 10.5 million streams. The lyric video for the cinematic track is also available now.

The single has received rave reviews: “Carrie Underwood has been blowing fans away with her music for 15 years and her new single ‘Ghost Story’ is no exception.  The eerily gorgeous track is fittingly named, as it is about ‘haunting’ a past lover in their memories. Underwood’s voice shines on ‘Ghost Story,’ taking the raw heartbreak in the lyrics to a new level.” (American Songwriter); “The ear-catching, burbling country-pop production flows like a rushing stream beneath her penetrating, processed vocal. She vows to haunt her ex, troubling his sleep and making him wish he’d never left her. Hit bound, for certain” (MusicRow).

Underwood recently completed the second sold-out run of her critically acclaimed REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency at the Resorts World Theatre.  She opened the new theatre – featuring the largest and tallest stage in Las Vegas – with sold-out shows in December and her residency continues with her next engagement May 11-21.

They recently won the Single of the Year at the ACM Awards, as well as Country Song of the Year at the iHeart Radio Music Awards. Backstage talking to the media, an emotional Carrie says this is probably one of the most important award wins she’s had in her entire career. “I feel like it’s more important because I feel like this is one of the most important bodies of work I’ve ever been a part of, been able to do. This is what one thing that I’ve wanted to do literally my whole career. I’ve wanted to make this album and I got to, and this just means the world to me.”

Chris Stapleton (Grammys 2022) OC: …those guys. :36
“You know, anytime that you are even nominated for a award or someone thinks enough of you to invite you to these kinds of shows, particularly the Grammys, it’s, you know, it’s a very surreal moment and we had a very surreal moment all day today. And so it was it was a very and to get to play a song, you know that I wrote with the guys in the band on the show, won a Grammy for it earlier in the year and in the evening, and it was a special night for it. For me. For me, it’s special and it’s special. Get it to do with those guys.

Audio / CHRIS STAPLETON SAYS HE DOESN'T REALLY THINK ABOUT A THEME IN HIS NEW ALBUM, STARTING OVER."

Chris Stapleton (theme of Starting Over album) OC: …as humans. :54
“I’ve never really looked at records necessarily as having a theme.  I’ve never made a record in that kind of a constraint necessarily. And there are a lot of great records that have this theme and this overlying thread that kind of runs through them.  Maybe the thread for me is just I’m singing. I wrote a bulk of the songs. It’s the same guys playing all the songs. If there’s a theme – if there’s a theme it’s hopefully there’s a theme of truth somewhere in it. And what I mean by that is hopefully we’re conveying in the songs some experiences that feel real and hopefully people can find themselves in those songs and in the album. And for me if I’m looking for a theme it’s that kind of, I don’t know, that thing that binds us all together as humans.”

Audio / Backstage at last night's GRAMMY AWARDS, TJ Osborne of Brothers Osborne talks about winning their first Grammy Award and especially for the significance of it being for the song, "Younger Me."

    Download

Brothers Osborne (Grammys 2022) OC: …on myself. :52
“We, John and I have taken, I think, a lot of risks in our career and sometimes don’t always pay off and we try to just stick with who we are and what we do. And this was the validation that you got for that hard work and the sacrifices that we made. It felt like they were suddenly weren’t all for nothing. And I’m so incredibly grateful for it. And I think on top of that, with the song that we were nominated for younger me was a song that my brother and I both wrote really kind of as a letter to our younger selves. If they could just see where we are now, that would have saved themselves a lot of heartbreak and strife. And and then the add on to that to be accepting a Grammy also does adds to that story that if I could just tell my younger self that this would be here, this is where I would be in my life here on the stage right now. I would certainly not believe it, but I would also be a hell of a lot easier on myself.”

Audio / BROTHERS OSBORNE'S TJ OSBORNE TALKS ABOUT THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THEIR SONG, "YOUNGER ME," WHICH IS FEATURED ON THE DELUXE EDITION OF THEIR ALBUM, SKELETONS.

Brothers Osborne (Younger Me) OC: …made it through. :38
TJ: “The inspiration behind ‘Younger Me’ was really inspired by both, really kind of both of our stories and just the different things that we struggled with in our youth and we just made things overly complicated. I truly didn’t think I’d get to this point in my life, and I’m sure John would probably say the same for himself. And we really just wanted to really kind of almost in some ways write a note to our younger selves and just kind of tell them to hold on, hold tight, and hopefully in an effort for maybe other people out there that are going through that currently to realize there will be a moment in your life where you can look back on this and be happy that you made it through.”

Audio / Backstage at last night's Grammy Awards, an emotional Carrie Underwood says the win for My Savior is probably the most important win of her career.

Carrie Underwood (Grammys 2022) OC: …world to me. :24
“I’m probably immediately going to start crying, OK? I feel like it’s more important because I feel like this is one of the most important bodies of work I’ve ever been a part of been able to do. This is what one thing that I’ve wanted to do literally my whole career. I’ve wanted to make this album and I got to, and this just means the world to me.”

Carrie Underwood (hymns feel like home) 1:05
“These particular songs for My Savior, you know, I grew up singing these in church and my church that we go to right now they play a lot of very contemporary Christian songs, praise and worship songs, and it’s great. But every once in a while, they’ll kind of throw in like a chorus or something of some hymn that I grew up with and there’s an immediate sense of home when I hear that. And that’s kind of where I was at when we were recording this. It should be like a warm hug, and I feel like there’s so many people that are like me that kind of long for that. You think back to that sense of home and your church that you grew up in with the pews. I mean it’s just one of those things that it just feels like home. And after a year like last year, I feel like people are definitely searching. A lot of people were thrown out of their daily routines and trying to figure life out and be more introspective or kind of slow down. We were all forced to slow down.”

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD THRILLS FANS WITH BEAUTIFULLY HAUNTING NEW SINGLE “GHOST STORY” AVAILABLE TODAY (MARCH 18th).

After teasing fans with a series of mysterious posts beginning the night before her birthday this past week, 7-time GRAMMY® Award winner Carrie Underwood’s highly-anticipated new single, “Ghost Story,” is available today. The lyric video for the cinematic track is also available now.

Written by Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia and co-produced by David Garcia and Underwood, the superstar describes “Ghost Story” as “a different take on a revenge song, which is something I love to sing about.  Instead of smashing headlights, this scorned lover is letting her ex know that she will continue to haunt him no matter how hard he tries to forget her.”

“Ghost Story” is the latest collaboration between Underwood and Garcia, having co-produced her critically-acclaimed 2018 release, Cry Pretty, which marked the first time Underwood produced her own album.  Garcia and Underwood also co-produced Underwood’s 2021 album of gospel hymns, My Savior.  Underwood and Lindsey have collaborated on a string of hits such as “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “So Small,” “Last Name,” “Smoke Break,” “Church Bells,” and the now-iconic title track, “Cry Pretty.” Kear co-wrote Underwood’s signature hits, “Before He Cheats” and “Blown Away,” and co-wrote another cinematic classic, “Two Black Cadillacs” with Underwood and Lindsey.

“‘Ghost Story’ is a thrilling, dramatic song that David, Hillary and Josh wrote for me,” says Underwood.  “They are such talented, amazing songwriters who know me so well, and from the first time I heard it I knew I had to record it.  I have always loved performing songs that tell a story and inspire some kind of cinematic imagery when you hear them, and that is definitely true of ‘Ghost Story.’  It creates a mood and a vibe that is different than anything else I’ve recorded before.”

Underwood’s new single comes on the heels of winning her 16th ACM Award on March 7 – for Single of the Year with Jason Aldean for their smash hit duet, “If I Didn’t Love You.”  The multi-week #1 “If I Didn’t Love You” has spent a record-setting 26 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard Country Airplay so far, with more than 323 million global streams RTD..

Underwood is nominated for two 2022 GRAMMY® Awards – for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year for My Savior, and she and Aldean are nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “If I Didn’t Love You.”   The duo was also nominated this week for two 2022 CMT Music Awards for “If I Didn’t Love You” – Collaborative Video of the Year and Video of the Year, which Underwood won in 2021 for “Hallelujah,” with John Legend.  She continues to reign as the most awarded artist in CMT history with 23 total wins.

On March 23, she continues her ongoing REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency at the Resorts World Theatre, having opened the new 5,000-capacity, world-class theatre, the first artist to grace the largest and tallest stage in Las Vegas, with six sold-out shows in December.  Conceived by Underwood to celebrate some of the highlights of her stellar recording and touring career over the years, REFLECTION celebrates her greatest hits from over 15 years as an award-winning international superstar.  The production brings beloved fan favorites to life in a whole new way, utilizing spectacular special effects, pyrotechnics and state-of-the-art visual and audio technology, with Underwood joined onstage by her band, dancers, aerialists and a special virtual orchestra.  $1 from every ticket sold will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
