We would have our Easter Egg Hunt, and I think for me early on, and probably like a lot of kids, Easter was another Sunday where it was a very mini, mini Christmas. We’d get some candy, every once in a while, we’d get a present, something that we wanted, we’d go to church, and everybody looked great. It was like the day to wear the new dress or the guys had these crazy ties on or something like that. Priscilla Block, who is performing at tonight’s (April 11th) CMT Music Awards, is set to open the 2022 Downtown @ Sundown Concert Series in Clarksville, Tennessee on May 6th. The Concert Series is free to the public and will take place on the first and third Fridays of the month May through October.
University of South Carolina alum Darius Rucker will perform a free concert for students to celebrate the women’s basketball team’s national championship. Darius suggested the concert in a tweet April 1st after South Carolina beat Louisville for a spot in the championship game. The Gamecocks went on to defeat UConn 64-49 to take their second national title in five years. Students can sign up for a lottery here to win a ticket to the concert, which will be held April 24th at Colonial Life Arena.
After first breaking the news to his Church Choir faithful last night, CMA Entertainer of the Year/superstar Eric Church now officially announces his second headlining stadium show this summer, with “One Hell of a Night in Minneapolis” set for Saturday, June 11 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The supersized show will see the 10-time GRAMMY nominee joined by fellow songwriting craftsmen Morgan Wallen and ERNEST.
Today’s announcement adds to an already remarkable year for the man celebrated by Stereogum as “one of the biggest touring musicians on earth,” as rock-infused anthem “Heart On Fire” climbs the Top 10 at country radio and The Gather Again Tour holds the top spot on Pollstar’s Live75 chart for back-to-back weeks, with Variety proclaiming: “For a guy whose concerts time out at three hours a night, the pandemic’s break was but a way to rest up and blast off, ferociously.”
The update follows Church’s recent news that he will also headline a Milwaukee stadium show over Memorial Day weekend, with Brothers Osborne and Parker McCollum joining him at American Family Field on Saturday, May 28.
“Church is never predictable — aside from the fact that he consistently stages one of the most explosive (and longest) sets in country music,” the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel remarked upon that show’s announcement. “For the second stadium-headlining show of his life, expect Church to give his fans his all.”
Tickets to the U.S. Bank Stadium show go on sale to the general public Friday, March 11 at 10 a.m. CT via EricChurch.com. “Jason asked if I would sing ‘If I Didn’t Love You’ with him. I knew I liked the song, and Jason and I have actually been kind of trying to do things together over the years. We’ve sang together before, but we’ve never officially recorded anything together. It just kind of felt like this could be our moment. I felt like it was a little bit of an unexpected duet to other people, but I feel like I kinda always knew at some point I’d probably sing with him officially, and this just seemed like, the stars were aligning and it just seemed like it was going to be the perfect fit.”

“It just means a lot more. I wrote it with my brother (Jacob) and two my best friends (Josh and Matt Jenkins) in town and just the content of it. It comes from a really, really honest place. So, when you have songs that mean that much and you get to see them have success like ‘Buy Dirt’ is having, it’s a little bit more special.”

“We took a writer’s retreat a little south of Nashville, me and three of my favorite writers in the world – Matt Jenkins, Josh Jenkins and my brother Jacob. We started every day – we were down there three days – and we started every day with coffee on the back porch, and Josh would lead us in some type of devotional. He would find some scripture and then we would just kind of chew on it for a little bit. That day he had read, and I need to remember the exact scripture, but it was something about being planted, being planted in the dirt and having a strong root system so you can weather storms and rain. That is really the start of ‘Buy Dirt.’ And I don’t know if that song comes if we don’t wake up early and get out there and kind of start talking about real life. That was where it all started, and I’m grateful, grateful that I (laughs) didn’t sleep in that day.”

“I met Luke three or four years ago at an awards show after party, and got to hang with him, but I really kind of got to sit and talk with him after a round of golf one day, and we just really talked about everything under the sun aside from music. Luke kind of embodies what that song is. You know a lot of people get to see Luke on American Idol or on stage, but Luke Bryan really is a great guy. I sent him a message one day, a text message actually attached with the song, and I was like, ‘Hey Luke, I wrote this. It means a lot to me. You came to mind whenever I was thinking about it, through the writing process, and this song just kind of says what you’re about, and if you want to sing on it, great, no pressure. Don’t even feel the need to text me back or whatever. Just listen to it and let me know.’ And he got right back with me. He’s like, ‘Man I love the song. Let me live with it for a couple of days.’ And he called me back four or five days later and was like, ‘When do you want me singing on this thing?’ That was a pretty cool moment. I’m such a big fan of Luke, and he’s been a huge influence on me since I moved to Nashville, and pretty cool to have him on one of my songs now.”

“Back in 2006, I think I was first-of-six booked at Country Thunder, but it was the big stage,” says the North Carolinian. “Sinners had just been released… and the next year I remember playing Kelly’s Bleachers and half the room was there to see us play, the other half had no idea who we were. The next time we played, those 378 people brought friends… and that never really stopped. This time I’m bringing friends with me, too. See you on May 28, Milwaukee.”
