• ERIC CHURCH CONTINUES TO BATTLE SCALPERS…THIS TIME AT RED ROCKS.

Eric Church is again taking strong action to ensure his fans come first. Last November, he revealed to the more than 80,000 members of the Church Choir that inspiration had struck and resulted in his new album Mr. Misunderstood, which he shared with them first and free of charge before putting it on sale. That insistence that his fans come first now has the man Stereoum dubbed “our greatest working rock star” standing up to scalpers in light of recent on-sales for his back-to-back intimate engagements at Red Rocks Amphitheater.

“I get asked all the time about my favorite venue, and I always answer the same way. Red Rocks. When people ask why, I just smile and say, ‘you must not have been there.’ It’s truly breathtaking,” the ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee shares. “I’m honored to have two shows there.”

Upon their normal review of the orders for the two nights, Church and his team discovered that a total of 2,700 tickets were purchased by known scalpers, including more than 750 tickets purchased by a Texas-based scalper ring, all of which were cancelled. “I do want to add a quick word about the scalpers,” Church insists. “I have never seen more relentless, nefarious and frankly disgusting efforts to defraud the fans and the general public. Six words for you thugs: You Will Not Win. I Will.”

Q Prime South’s Fielding Logan has long spearheaded Church’s war on scalpers noting, “On an ongoing basis, our team will continue to examine ticket orders and cancel tickets purchased by scalpers.”

So when the more than 19,000 concert attendees arrive in Morrison, Colorado and see “sold out” across its iconic marquee for two nights, the Church Choir can feel confident that the Chief is doing everything he can to help the fans in the fight against scalpers.

    About Eric Church
The two-time Country Music Association and four-time Academy of Country Music Award winner cemented his reputation as a maverick by releasing his 2015 album Mr. Misunderstood as a surprise, delivering it to fans before announcing its existence and putting it on sale. He is rising up the country charts with “Record Year,” the second single, which Rolling Stone dubbed “the most moving moment” on the widely lauded album.

The North Carolina native’s previous album, The Outsiders debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and Top Country Albums Chart with the highest debut and sales of any release in the format that year, making Church 2014’s top-selling country music artist. The album garnered GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Album of the Year nominations and featured his No. 1 hits “Give Me Back My Hometown” and “Talladega,” as well as multiple nominee “Like A Wrecking Ball.”  The Outsiders was the follow-up to Church’s Platinum-certified CHIEF, named the 2012 Album of the Year by both CMA and ACM, and GRAMMY-nominated for Best Country Album. The LP featured five Top 20 singles: “Homeboy” (certified Platinum for sales in excess of 1 million); the Top 10 “Like Jesus Does” and the Top 5 “Creepin’” (both certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000); and two No. 1 hits “Drink in My Hand” (certified Platinum) and “Springsteen” (certified Double Platinum for sales in excess of 2 million singles). Church’s 2006 debut album, Sinners Like Me, and his sophomore album, Carolina, (2009) are both RIAA Gold certified.

Church heads into this year’s ACM Awards with a commanding six nominations, including Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album (for Mr. Misunderstood), Video (for “Mr. Misunderstood) and both Vocal Event and Song of the Year (for “Raise ‘Em Up” with Keith Urban). He will perform during “The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards” when it airs live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Apr. 6, beginning at 8:00 PM ET, on the CBS Television Network.

  • LUKE BRYAN AND CHRIS STAPLETON HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE LIST OF PERFORMERS AT THIS YEAR’S ACM AWARDS.

Luke Bryan and Chris Stapleton have been added to the list of performers at next month’s ACM Awards. They’re joined by Jason AldeanTim McGraw and Thomas Rhett. Previously announced performers include Keith Urban, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Kelsea Ballerini, Cam and Florida Georgia Line.

The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards, which will be hosted by Luke and Dierks, will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas April 3rd at 8pm ET/delayed PT on CBS.

  • ERIC CHURCH IS HAVING A ‘RECORD YEAR.’

In his latest single, “Record Year,” Eric Church sings about licking his wounds from a failed relationship by spinning records on his turntable, instead of finding solace in another’s arms.

“There’s a line in the song that talks about ‘slowly planning my survival/in a three-foot stack of vinyl,’ and I remember, whatever it is that I had to get over or get past or get through, I remember records being my refuge during that time,” says Eric.

The new single name checks Stevie Wonder’s “Songs In The Key of Life,” Willie Nelson’s “Red Headed Stranger,” John Lee Hooker’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer,” among others from Church’s stack of vinyl. Upon the album’s surprise release last November, Rolling Stone Magazine dubbed the new single the “most moving moment” on the widely-lauded album.

Church co-wrote “Record Year” with longtime banjo player and guitarist Jeff Hyde who has previously collaborated on hits such as the three-week No. 1 “Springsteen” (along with Ryan Tyndell) from the ACM and CMA Album of the Year Chief and the anthematic Top 20 “Smoke a Little Smoke” (written by Church and Hyde alongside other bandmate Driver Williams) from 2009’s Carolina, a release that has since been pointed to as a pivotal shift in musical direction for “our greatest working rock star” (Stereogum).

The North Carolina native feels it’ll probably rank as one of his biggest hits. “It IS a song that I’m proud of,” he says, adding, “and I think it’ll be one of the bigger ones in our career.”

Eric has six nominations going into next month’s ACM Awards, including his first nomination for Entertainer of the Year. He also is up for Album of the Year for Mr. Misunderstood, Male Vocalist of the Year, Video of the Year for his surprise album’s title track and two more nominations, Musical Event of the Year and Song of the Year, for “Raise ‘Em Up” with Keith Urban. The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas April 3rd at 8pm ET/delayed PT on CBS.

Audio / Eric Church says records were always what he turned to in times of trouble or distress, and that he would find the solution in a “stack of vinyl,” like he sings about in “Record Year.”

“Well, it was kind of the start of the album for me. I mean, when we put out the album, it was a surprise and ‘Mr. Misunderstood’ was the first song, ‘cause it was the album title. But for me, the record always started with ‘Record Year.’ I’m a vinyl fan back before it was in vogue, like it is now, but I can remember, there’s a line in the song that talks about ‘slowly planning my survival/in a three-foot stack of vinyl,’ and I remember, whatever it is that I had to get over or get past or get through, I remember records being my refuge during that time. It was a song, and it IS a song that I’m proud of and I think it’ll be one of the bigger ones in our career.”

  • ERIC CHURCH ANNOUNCES TWO-NIGHT STAND AT RED ROCKS.

Eric Church has built a reputation for making every live show special with one-night-only set lists, unique arrangements, and stripped solo shows. Now “our greatest working rock star” (Stereogum) is pushing the envelope even further with a not to be missed two-night solo stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Tuesday, Aug. 9 and Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Fan club members will have the first chance to purchase tickets and travel packages during the fan club pre-sale, starting March 4, on ericchurch.com.  The one or two night travel packages include lodging at Denver’s Hotel Monaco, transportation to and from the venue, and tickets in the first 20 rows. This package and tickets will also be offered to the public beginning at 10 a.m. MT on March 11 by visiting www.axs.comor by phone at (888) 929-7849.

The performances offer fans one of the few chances this year to see the Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year nominee. Church, who’s up for six awards at the April 3 CBS-broadcast award show, has mostly laid low since The Outsiders World Tour’s two-year run concluded and the surprise release of new album Mr. Misunderstood last November. He’s only scheduled a few shows so far in 2016, and with an album’s worth of new music to debut you can bet every single show will be special.

A four-time ACM Awards winner, in addition to the top honor Entertainer of the Year, Church is also up for Album of the Year for Mr. Misunderstood, Male Vocalist of the Year, Video of the Year for Top 15 single “Mr. Misunderstood,” Vocal Event and Song of the Year for “Raise ‘Em Up” with Keith Urban.

Church recently released “Record Year,” the second single from Mr. Misunderstood. The song, which namechecks Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key of Life, Willie Nelson’s Red Headed Stranger, John Lee Hooker’s One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer among others from Church’s stack of vinyl, was dubbed the “most moving moment” on the new album by Rolling Stone.

  • ERIC CHURCH ENJOYS HOW INTERCONNECTED THE COUNTRIES ARE IN EUROPE.

Eric Church is overseas for his European Tour, which has him performing in Stockholm, Sweden Monday night (February 29th) and Oslo, Norway on Tuesday (March 1st). He’ll make stops in Germany, Switzerland and Amsterdam before performing three dates during the C2C Festival (Country to Country) – Dublin, Ireland (March 11th), Glasgow, Scotland (March 12th) and London, England (March 13th).

Eric, who’s previously toured across the pond, talks about some of the highlights of playing Europe.
“The great thing about Europe is, with the trains and with how interconnected it is, is you can just jump on a train and go anywhere,” says Eric. “I remember I was in Germany one day, I had a day off, I was in Munich I think, and I just went to the train station, I was actually not even planning to take a train, but I was walking past the train station and all of a sudden I saw Zurich and I saw all these other countries I could go to, by just jumping on a train, and I just jumped on a train [laughs]. I ended up in Austria, and different places that day, and it was easy. It was an hour and I was back that night. I love being able to just jump on and just go.”

The North Carolina native has hit the airwaves with his latest single, “Record Year,” from his Mr. Misunderstood album.

Eric is nominated for six ACM Awards, including his first-ever ACM Entertainer of the Year nod, as well as Male Vocalist, Album for Mr. Misunderstood, Video for “Mr. Misunderstood” and Vocal Event of the Year for “Raise ‘Em Up” with Keith Urban. He’s also nominated for Song of the Year with Keith for “Raise ‘Em Up” (award also goes to artist). • ERIC CHURCH LOOKING FORWARD TO HIS EUROPEAN TOUR NEXT WEEK.

Eric Church is getting ready to head overseas for a tour that will take him throughout Europe. He kicks off the trek February 29th in Stockholm, Sweden, and will make stops in Norway, Germany, Switzerland and Amsterdam before performing three dates during the C2C Festival (Country to Country) – Dublin, Ireland (March 11th), Glasgow, Scotland (March 12th) and London, England (March 13th). Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton are also on the bill for the C2C dates.

Eric, who’s previously toured across the pond, is looking forward to performing for the fans. “There’s two different parts of Europe. There’s the English-speaking, there’s the U.K., and there’s interior Europe. We go into interior Europe and play. We go to Germany. We go to Sweden. We go to Norway. We go to Switzerland, we go to the Netherlands,” says Eric. “It’s so interesting to me when you get in places where English is not the primary, the first language, but music is, and you go there and you see the power of what music can do in these places that they can’t speak any English, but they can sing every word. It’s really something.”

“We initially were trying to write a song for George Strait ‘cause he had just announced that he was doing Cowboy Rides Away tour, and Jen Wayne’s grandfather is John Wayne, so she knows a lot about cowboys. So, we were trying to just write that song, and we didn’t quite have it and in the midst, like songwriters do of writing a song, we were just cutting up and small talk and this and that. And I think I said ‘She don’t love you’ or she said ‘she don’t love you’ and I said ‘Yeah, she’s just lonely,’ just kind of joking around or something. And 45 minutes later we had written ‘She Don’t Love You,’ and I’m proud to have a great ballad. I believe it was probably the best ballad I’ve ever been a part of writing-wise. And I think when you think of country music, those songs that the whole room quiets down over or even all the guys at the bar turn around and listen, and that’s definitely that song on this album.”

Audio / KEITH URBAN SAID ‘RAISE ‘EM UP’ WAS THE PERFECT SONG FOR HIM AND ERIC CHURCH TO DO TOGETHER.

Keith Urban (Raise ‘Em Up) 3 OC: …sang on it. :15
“It wasn’t written as a duet, but it just struck me as the perfect song. There’s a particular theme really in the song, particularly in the second verse that I felt was just perfect for Eric. I sent him the song, and he loved it. And I was really happy that he came in and sang on it.”

  • VALENTINE’S DAY AUDIO: AJ, Billy, Canaan, Darius, David, Dierks, Eric, Josh, LBT

Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special someone. The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia.

Over 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine’s Day the second-most popular greeting-card-giving occasion. (This total excludes packaged kids valentines for classroom exchanges.) (Source: Hallmark research)

2.2 million marriages take place in the United States annually, which breaks down to more than 6,000 a day.

Sunday is Valentine’s Day (February 14th), and we’ve got some thoughts and feelings more about love, romance and marriage from several of your favorite country artists. Some are new and some have become our favorites over the years. Which country stars are romantic? Which ones aren’t? Which ones have a good reason to celebrate the holiday that’s all about love?

Audio / Alan Jackson talks about his love for wife, Denise, over the years.

    AJ (Valentine’s Day) OC: …continue to. :24

“We got a lot of history together now, and we’re happier than we’ve ever been. So, she’s still beautiful, and she’s always inspired songs. I mean, one of my early hits was a song called ‘I’d Love You All Over Again,’ I wrote for her for our 10th anniversary. I mean, there’s been a zillion songs that have pieces of our good days and bad days inspired, and they continue to.”

Audio / Billy Currington recalls his first real Valentine’s Day.

“Yeah, I remember my first girlfriend. I was in first or second grade, but anyway, I remember it was Valentine’s Day and your mom going, ‘You’ve got to give your girlfriend something, and you’ve got to go give it to her.’ I’ll never forget — we got her a box of chocolates or whatever it was. I remember going down to her classroom and knocking on the door, getting her to come to the door. I remember handing it to her, and then I took off running.”

Audio / Canaan Smith says he tries to show his wife how special she is every day.

Canaan Smith (Valentine’s Day) OC: …get lucky. :25
“I bet I’m just like 99.9% of the rest of the men in the world who could really care less about that holiday. I want my wife to feel special, so I’m gonna take part in it. I’m gonna do my part to make her feel special and loved, but is it necessary? Shouldn’t we do that every day? I mean, it kinda is just another way to get a bunch of money out of us, but oh well. We’ll go see a movie or something. Maybe I’ll get lucky.”

Audio / Darius Rucker knew he would marry his wife, Beth, on their first date.

Darius Rucker (wife) OC: …her and country music saved my life. :43

“I don’t know what it was about her. I mean, it was EVERYTHING about her. I knew, I told her I was going to marry her on our first date, [laughs] yeah. Beth’s a strong woman. It takes a strong woman to be married to a musician, especially a musician who was drinking and partying as hard as I was, and I think life for us is where we are now. It took a long time for us to get to where we are now, and we say to each other all the time, ‘I love us. I love our family. I love us.’ And I thank her every day for staying with me and being the strong woman she is, because with Hootie & the Blowfish, I could be gone for three months and then I’d come home for two days and then I’d be gone again for a month, and she put up with all that crap. You know, her and country music saved my life.”

Audio / David Nail says his songwriting abilities sometimes work against him with his wife, Catherine, especially around Valentine’s Day.

    Download

David Nail (Valentine’s Day) OC: …line for me. :47
“Very early on when we first started dating, the fact that I was a songwriter actually worked against me, because anytime I would say anything or write a letter, it was ‘Oh, you’re a songwriter. This just comes natural.’ So, I’ve always had to really watch what I say and how I say it and try to make it sound as genuine and regular Joe as possible. So, I definitely think as a creative person I have that romantic side that most creative people do. Sometimes I can get a little carried away and head into cheesy land a little too far, so I try to keep it as regular as possible. [Valentine’s Day] pretty traditional with us. She’s a big chocolate person, so you obviously can’t go wrong there, and a nice dinner. It’s pretty straight down the line for me.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley talks about the love you have for your children.

    Dierks Bentley (Valentine’s Day) 2 OC: …could before. :28

“You get married and that’s a long-term, bigger image of what love can be. Then you have a child, and your heart gets spread so thin and it’s so vulnerable, like it’s a really tough, tough feeling, and it can kill you. It can really be painful at times, and at the same time, it’s so great. But it definitely stretches your heart…and it doesn’t change anything, it just makes your heart, I think it just makes it bigger. I think you just find that you can love more than you ever thought you could before.”

Audio / Eric Church says his wife, Katherine, loves him in spite of everything.

Eric Church (Valentine’s) OC: …love song is. :48

“True love to me is when you love a person in spite of all their fallibilities, and for me, I have a lot of ‘em. I’m definitely at times hard to love, and that’s what’s great about Katherine and the way she loves me. She loves me in spite of those things and really for those things.

Audio / Josh Turner says his wife would call him a romantic, but now that they have four children, it takes a bit of work to make time for each other.

Josh Turner (Romantic) OC: …long time to come. :26
“If you ask my wife Jennifer if I was a romantic, she would definitely say, ‘Yes,’ but she knows that sometimes my hectic schedule and our busy lifestyles can kind of interfere with the romantic side of things. But we do try to make efforts towards being together and having adult conversations and taking time away from the children and doing things that husbands and wives do, so we’ll definitely try to continue that for a long time to come.”

Little Big Town (Kimberly falling in love) OC: …healed me. 1:20

Kimberly: “Well, I wasn’t planning on falling in love, at all. I didn’t want to…I wasn’t sure that I ever would.  So, my husband now and I were just really good friends, and after my late husband died all my friends were calling me, all the time. Just checking up on me. He was just an old friends. We had known each other for about six years and he started calling me just like everybody else did.  But, he started calling me more than everybody else did [laughs]. We had both been through similar losses, he hadn’t lost a mate but he had lost a close friend, so we kind of bonded over that. I grieved, kind of, at him a lot. He took my grief, I had a lot of grief left, and he just took it and listened and accepted it and was so understanding and let me talk about my late husband all the time. We still talk about him a lot, and he’s totally fine with it. He says that, that made me who he fell in love with and he never minds if I bring anything from the past up which is just really sweet. I was shocked, I remember when I first realized that I was having feelings. I just thought, OK, this is so weird.  What is this?  I haven’t felt this in a long, long, time. This is weird. But, eventually I allowed myself and it’s been the most beautiful gift of my life. It pulled me out of the deepest hole that I’ve ever been in and healed me.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet was ready for love when he met Rebecca, his wife since 2007.

Audio / Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook had a chemistry performing together, but it wasn’t until they each found themselves single…at the same time…that sparks flew romantically. The pair, who wed in 2006, have a son, Elijah.

And then when the opportunity came, when all of us, ended up single kind of at the same time, a very strange turn of events for the band in a lot of different ways. And those feelings, you were able to come out with them finally. It was like, we’re single. Let’s get together. And, you know, she has a beautiful heart and she’s absolutely gorgeous and I just love her dearly.”

    PHILLIP: “Get a room!” [laughs]

KIMBERLY: “They’re a perfect match. They really are. They were meant to be together.”
