As Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley stepped on Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena stage tonight for the first time as a headliner, he immediately earned a deafening welcome from a sold-out crowd in Music City, that stayed on their feet for more than two hours until the very last note.

“You have no idea how much this night meant to me and the guys. This is a Stanley Cup…game seven of the World Series kind of night,” said Bentley. “I have my home team, my home crowd and I hope to leave the stage with no voice as a sign I did the job right. Thank you for making this one of the best nights of my life.”

Between chart-topping hits that kicked off his career like “What Was I Thinking’” to his current critically acclaimed “Black,” Bentley surprised fans when collaborator and friend Elle King joined him onstage to perform the CMA award-winning and GRAMMY nominated No. One hit “Different For Girls.” After challenging himself to covering George Strait each night of the tour, Bentley invited opener Jon Pardi back for “Carrying Your Love With Me,” before Cole Swindell returned for his latest single “Flatliner” with Bentley. To cap off the night, the encore’s “Drunk On A Plane” included Kelsea Ballerini, King, Swindell and Pardi.

Bentley is known for getting “stronger and stronger with every release and is one of the few artists that can go from bluegrass to country” (Billboard) as he recently released his eight studio album BLACK. The title-track from Bentley’s “most fully-formed LP of his career” (TIME) serves as his latest single, while its music video serves as a “passionate storyline” with the “perfect accompaniment to the personal message of both the song and the album” (Rolling Stone). After debuting at the No. One position on Billboard’s Top Albums Chart and Top Country Albums chart, the critically-acclaimed album has already spawned two No. One hits, the PLATINUM certified chart-topping hit “Somewhere On A Beach” and GOLD and GRAMMY nominated “Different For Girls” featuring Elle King. Bentley has now amassed 15 No. one songs, 13 GRAMMY nominations and is a recent CMA Award winner for Vocal Event of the Year. “The bluegrass  picker,  the  love  song  singer  and  the stadium rocker all packaged together” (Associated Press) has been a Grand Ole Opry member for over a decade and “has developed a rapport with his fans as a live performer that artists possessing 10 times as much headlining experience can’t boast”(Charlotte Observer). • DIERKS BENTLEY LAUNCHES HIS ‘WHAT THE HELL TOUR.’

Dierks Bentley kicks off his What the Hell Tour Thursday (January 19th) in Dayton, Ohio. He’s taking along Jon Pardi and Cole Swindell.

He’s known both of his opening acts for a long time, and he can’t imagine a more perfect name for this new tour.

“This is going to be such a fun tour. I meant that’s the reason why I call it the What the Hell Tour, because both these guys are so fun. I’ve known ‘em now for a long time. I mean, I’ve known Cole since he was selling T-shirts for Luke…His heart is into what he’s doing. He’s so grateful and thankful and is making great records. He’s going out there and his live show is so good. I mean, he really has a great live show,” says Dierks. “And then Jon Pardi is just that. He is a party. He is a big voice, big personality, down-to-earth, but at the same time he’s not afraid to bust on ya and give ya some crap, and he has some hit songs. The song he has out now, which I was so thankful he made a single – ‘Dirt on My Boots’ is such a good song. It’s traditional, but still kind of leans forward and has a modern sound to it and his voice is so good on it. His whole record is so good. So, yeah, it’s gonna be that kind of tour. What the Hell is the perfect name for this tour with Jon and Cole.”

The trek heads to Louisville on Friday (January 20th) and Nashville on Saturday (January 21st).

I men, I’ve known Cole since he was selling T-shirts for Luke. I always tell this story, but I have Cole’s name in my phone, his name is C-O-L-E, but I have as C-O-A-L, because when I met him, I didn’t know how to spell his name. It was just Coal. I’ve kept it that way. I’ve known him that long, and to watch the success he’s had, he loves it, man. His heart is into what he’s doing. He’s so grateful and thankful and is making great records. He’s going out there and his live show is so good. I mean, he really has a great live show. You can tell he’s been watching other people’s stuff and also implementing his own ideas. It’s just gonna be fun! And then Jon Pardi is  just that. He is a party. • NEW YEAR’S 2016: Brothers Osborne, Canaan, Clare, Dierks, Eric, Jon, Kacey, Keith, Kip, Luke

What are some of your favorite stars doing to welcome in the New Year? Some of them are working to help fans celebrate. Several artists have taken the time off around the holidays and will hit it hard when they return to the road in January. Some artists have resolutions and some are very helpful with their own hangover cures for those who imbibe too much on New Year’s Eve.

Keith Urban is set to headline Music City on New Year’s Eve. He’ll perform at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park as part of the Jack Daniels Music City Midnight bash. Styx, A Thousand Horses, Charlie Worsham, Moon Taxi and the Fisk Jubliee Singers are also on the bill.

Brothers Osborne will ring in the New Year by headlining the New Year’s Eve Bowl Bash in Jacksonville, Florida. The free concert and celebration will take place at the intersection of Forsyth and Ocean in Downtown Jacksonville.

Luke Bryan will spend the night before New Year’s Eve, so New Year’s Eve Eve (December 30th), in Las Vegas performing a show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Audio / Brothers Osborne talk about how people spend the last moments of the year, and the first moments of the new year.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

Audio / John Osborne of Brothers Osborne says a little hair of the dog is definitely the cure for a hangover.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (hangover cure) OC: …of the year. :07
“Usually drinking more. I mean, a little hair of the dog never hurt anybody. Plus, it’s the first of the year.”

Audio / Canaan Smith says there’s really no cure for a hangover.

    Download

Canaan Smith (no hangover cure) OC: …long, you know? :32
“There is no hangover cure. The older I get I’m like, ‘Oh God! What am I thinking?’ It’s terrible. Hangovers are awful. Tequila’s the worst. I try to stay away from Tequila, because it hurts me bad. I used to be a whiskey guy. I still am every now and then, but of late, I’m domestic, American beer, just something light and tasty. Shots are my worst enemy. When I start working shots into the picture, that’s when I know I’m gonna hurt the next morning. I just try to keep it the same, whether it’s whiskey or beer or whatever, I just stick with that same drink the whole night long, you know?”

Audio / Clare Dunn suggests a good hangover cure.

    Download

Clare Dunn (hangover cure) OC: …hangover cure. :10
“Greasy food is always kind of a, you can let it go for one day before you start all your resolutions [laughs] after that. So, that’s probably my best hangover cure.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says there’s not really a cure for a hangover.

    Download

Dierks (NYE) OC: …for that. :10
“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says he'll take this New Year's Eve in stride.

    Download

Dierks Bentley (New Year’s) OC: …in stride. 1:11
“New Year’s is rough. New Year’s hurts no matter what’s going o n. I’ve played a lot of New Year’s shows, you know, but I’ve honestly found that it’s not my favorite night to throw down. Look, for a living, that’s what I do. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, I host a big party; not only on stage, but I’ve got friends backstage. It starts before the concert sometimes, [and] it goes long after the concert, so a lot of times on New Year’s, I’m looking for a really mellow hang – a good party, good friends, pretty chill. Some of my best New Year’s – it doesn’t make for great radio – but some of my best New Year’s have been just like actually hearing fireworks go off while I’m in bed, [laughs] and know I’m gonna wake up the next morning for the first day of the New Year feeling great, feeling recharged and I’m ready to go ad go into the New Year feeling good as opposed to going into it with a giant Jagerbomb hangover, which I’ve done many, many times. So, the goal this year is to go into it feeling pretty good and the kids help with that, because you really just don’t want to be hungover with children. It’s not a good feeling. You would probably admit to any crime to get them, just feel better, and get them leave you alone. So, [I’m] gonna try to hit New Year’s this year in stride.”

Audio / Eric Church has a couple of hangover cures for those times (especially on New Year’s Eve) when you might imbibe a little too much.

    Download

Eric Church (hangover cure) OC: …every time. :17
“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

Audio / Jon Pardi reveals his go-to cure for hangovers.

    Download

Jon Pardi (hangover cure) OC: …deal with it. :20
“My hangover cure is Bloody Marys, but be careful – because once you have a couple, don’t go to beer, because if you go to beer, you’re gonna start drinking again and you’ll end up a morning drunk. OR if you want to go the non-alcoholic route, there’s nothing you can do for hangovers. [laughs] You just go deal with it.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves, who rings in the New Year performing at the Grand Ole Opry, has her own hangover cure.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (hangover cure) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese fuh. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves gives her favorite hangover cure, which is pretty simple.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (favorite hangover cure) OC: …as bad. :11
Oh actually, though, my favorite hangover cure is right before you go to bed, no matter how trashed you are, literally just chug an entire glass of water, and then when you wake up, it’s not as bad.”

Audio / Kip Moore gives advice on how to avoid a hangover on New Year’s Eve.

    Download

Kip Moore (avoiding hangovers on NYE) OC: …yourself. :03
“Pace yourself on New Year’s – that’s the remedy. Pace yourself.”

Audio / Luke Bryan’s favorite New Year’s Eve has to be when he and his now wife Caroline reunited.

    Download

Luke Bryan (New Years-best) OC: …great night. :17
“My best New Year’s Eve is definitely when my wife and I started back dating. We started back dating right before Christmas, and we went on a trip down to Florida and met some friends. And her birthday is New Year’s Eve. We celebrated it that night. It was just a great night.”

  • CHRISTMAS 2016: Jon Pardi

Jon Pardi has been on the road pretty much all year, and he is taking a few weeks off to relax, build stuff and hang with his dad at his place in Nashville before he goes back out on tour in January.

“Well, this Christmas I was so worn-out from traveling that I wanted to stay home, and I haven’t spent a Christmas morning with my Dad in a while, so I brought it up and he got so excited,” says Jon. “But we’re gonna have Christmas dinner and a party. We’ve got a bunch of friends if they don’t have a place to go, they can come to my house and have dinner. Before Christmas, me and my dad, we’re gonna build a bunch of stuff, as usual. We’ve got some stuff to fix, and we’re gonna build a custom dog kennel.”

When Jon and his dad aren’t “fixing stuff” or hitting the town, they might pop in a Christmas movie or two. “Bad Santa’s pretty good,” he says. “But I have to say if you’re gonna watch it with little cousins, I would have to say Elf is pretty much probably one of the funniest Christmas movies to ever be that new and beat out all of the old Christmas movies. It is definitely up there.”

Jon will be back on the road with Dierks Bentley‘s What the Hell Tour January 19th in Dayton, Ohio.

Audio / Jon Pardi says he’s staying home in Nashville this Christmas.

“Well, this Christmas I was so worn-out from traveling that I wanted to stay home, and I haven’t spent a Christmas morning with my Dad in a while, so I brought it up and he got so excited. I had to tell my Mom I’m not coming home. My Mom and Dad are separated. But we’re gonna have Christmas dinner and a party. We’ve got a bunch of friends if they don’t have a place to go, they can come to my house and have dinner. Before Christmas, me and my dad, we’re gonna build a bunch of stuff, as usual. We’ve got some stuff to fix, and we’re gonna build a custom dog kennel. This one’s gonna be pretty state-of-the-art. It’s gonna have concrete and heavy-duty fence, because they’ve been getting out, ‘’cause they’re so crazy, and we’re gonna build a dog house and get some heat pads and run power and water to it. So, it’ll be good. That’s usually what we do – come to the house and work on it. But it’s fun, and we always get to play a lot more. We work during the sunlight and then go hit the town at night.” [laughs]

Audio / Jon Pardi says if you’re an adult, Bad Santa, is a great holiday movie, but if you’re kid, Elf is the one to beat.

  • JON PARDI GETS A LITTLE “DIRT ON HIS BOOTS.”

Jon Pardi is sitting inside the Top 20 with his latest single, “Dirt On My Boots,” the follow-up to his No. 1 hit, “Head Over Boots.” The song takes him back to his younger self after working outdoors all day.

“I saw my 22 year old self getting off a tractor and going to take a shower and putting his work boots back on and going and hanging out with a girl and having a good time dancing or something,” says Jon. “And I really connected to the lyrics of it. It’s very country lyrics. It has tractors. It has cutting a rug. My favorite [line] — ‘I can get cleaned up, but I can only get so fancy,’ and I loved it.”

“Dirt on My Boots” is from his sophomore album, California Sunrise.

Jon will head out on Dierks Bentley’s What the Hell Tour, which kicks off January 19th in Dayton, Ohio.
