  • LUKE BRYAN IS GETTING READY TO ‘STRIP IT DOWN.’

Luke Bryan has released the follow-up to his current No. 1 single, “Kick the Dust Up.” The sultry “Strip It Down,” which he co-wrote with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite, is starting to hit the airwaves, just in time for Friday’s release of his new album, Kill the Lights.

The Georgia native says he’s never really recorded a song like “Strip It Down.” “I’m five albums in. This is my fifth album and I’ve never really done like that slow dance, take your girl and have a big ole, big ole night of romance and all that, and ‘Strip It Down’ kind of does that and I’m interested to see how the fans react to that. I think I got a good picture in my mind of how it’s going to go and I’m excited to see all of that transpire. But I do feel like ‘Strip It Down’ is a really, really special moment on the CD and I don’t think three years ago I could have delivered a song like ‘Strip It Down’ like I wanted to, but it felt right the way we wrote it.”

Catch Luke performing the tune when he hits the stage of Good Morning America’s 2015 Summer Concert Series on Friday (August 7th) and NBC’s Tonight Show on Monday (August 10th).

  • SCOTTY McCREERY IS INSTRUMENTAL IN MARRIAGE PROPOSAL.

    From People.com:
Just add cupid to Scotty McCreery’s list of credits.

The American Idol alum’s song “See You Tonight” played a key role in helping make a proposal aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Detroit to Las Vegas even more memorable.

When Greg Freyer surprised his long-distance girlfriend Rebekah Ellis by popping the question aboard her flight back home to Vegas after she visited him for the weekend in June 2014, she didn’t even know he was on the plane.

“We got up at 3:30 in the morning, and I told her I was leaving for work and we hugged our goodbyes, and of course it’s sad because you don’t know when you’re going to see each other again,” Freyer, 24, tells PEOPLE. “We always hate saying goodbye. But instead of going to work, I really went to the airport.”

Freyer boarded his girlfriend’s flight in disguise so she wouldn’t know he was there, and once the plane was in the air, he had the crew play “See You Tonight” over the intercom, and he walked up the aisle to get on one knee and propose.

“That song described our relationship perfectly,” says Freyer of the miles between him and Ellis, 23, at the time. “It talks about ‘hearing your sweet voice.’ Her voice is always the sweetest, most tender voice on the phone, and I just always loved hearing it when we couldn’t be together.”

Of course Ellis said “yes” – sort of. “She was so shocked I don’t even think she said yes, she just nodded her head,” says Freyer.

    scotty-mccreery-b-435

Fast forward a few months later aboard another Southwest flight, and McCreery, 21, was reading the March 2015 issue of Southwest: The Magazine. He came across a letter written by Freyer thanking the airline for their help in facilitating the in-air proposal.

“I’m not much of a reader, and normally when I’m on a plane, I’m sleeping, but that particular day I couldn’t sleep,” says McCreery. “So I pulled out the magazine to pass the time and all of a sudden I saw my name, so I was like: ‘Let me read this.’

“It was a pretty cool story, and it’s always cool to be part of something in people’s lives that big.”

After reading the letter, McCreery set out in search of the couple, hoping he could meet them and invite them to one of his concerts.

Thanks to social media, Freyer and Ellis – who tied the knot in March – heard about McCreery’s interest in meeting them, and the group finally got together before McCreery’s show in Camden, New Jersey, on Sunday.

    scotty-mccreery-1-800

“It was just so awesome,” says Freyer. “I mean the whole thing was absolutely incredible.” McCreery is just happy his song played a part in their love story.

“They said it was just kind of their song because they were long distance. He’d always say, ‘I’d drive a million miles to see you,’ and that’s a lyric in the song,” says McCreery.

“That’s really the goal,” he adds. “You’re always hoping your songs affect people in a good way.”

McCreery’s new song “Southern Belle,” the first single off his upcoming album, drops Aug. 24th.

“I truly love this week for, I mean, hundreds of reasons. I always remember my first ones starting out and doing River Stages and always dreaming of coming over here and performing at LP Field. I did my fan club party, and I truly love that opportunity to do that show for them really, really kind of acoustic and a chance to kind of sit there and be real with them for a little bit, and then obviously through the day and being here tonight. It’s an amazing night of music and an amazing week for Nashville and it’s a great, great week for me. And then, like I said, I get to be home and do all this stuff. • LITTLE BIG TOWN ENJOY SPECIAL MOMENTS AS HOSTS AND PERFORMERS AT THIS YEAR’S ‘COUNTRY’S NIGHT TO ROCK’ ABC-TV SPECIAL.

Little Big Town return as hosts for “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” on Tuesday (August 4th) at 8:00pm ET.

The group not only are hosting this three-hour special event, but they’re also performing on the show, as well. “One of the moments, I think, that stood out to me was, the biggest, I mean when we actually got to play and perform the music, as opposed to all of the hosting duties. We started our set with ‘Girl Crush,’ and that moment just swept me away. The whole crowd was lit up – their phones were lit up – and they were singing louder than we were,” says LBT’s Phillip Sweet. “It just was the most incredible feeling to feel that energy and all focused on ‘Girl Crush’ and the starkness of that song. It was just like the most incredible moment for me.”

For folks who want to come next year, LBT’s Kimberly Schlapman gives you a few safety tips. “It happens to the hottest week of the summer, every CMA Fest. Really. It’s so very hot, so you’ve got to wear a lot of sunscreen because there’s a lot of burnt backs that happen at CMA Fest,” says Kimberly. “Stay hydrated. Stay hydrated. It is so hot out there. It’s hot on the stage. It’s hot in the crowd, but you should come. If you’re even considering coming, come. You will not be disappointed.”

Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, Kip Moore, Sam Hunt, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line, Brett Eldredge and Carrie Underwood will also be among the performers. KIMBERLY: “To me, it doesn’t get any better than singing for that crowd at the stadium. So many of ‘em do it for their family vacation, so they save up their money all year long and generations of these families come to make it their family vacation, and they’re there to hear just good ole great country music. And we got to host this year, which is just so much fun in itself, and so many different funny things happened, and all that, but…” PHILLIP: “One of the moments, I think, that stood out to me was, the biggest, I mean when we actually got to play and perform the music, as opposed to all of the hosting duties. We started our set with ‘Girl Crush,’ and that moment just swept me away. The whole crowd was lit up – their phones were lit up – and they were singing louder than we were. It just was the most incredible feeling to feel that energy and all focused on ‘Girl Crush’ and the starkness of that song. It was just like the most incredible moment for me.”

LBT (CMA Music Fest) 2 OC: (Phillip) …comes alive. :47
KIMBERLY: “It happens to the hottest week of the summer, every CMA Fest. Really. It’s so very hot, so you’ve got to wear a lot of sunscreen because there’s a lot of burnt backs that happen at CMA Fest.” PHILLIP: “Get those fan misters. Those are so good.” KIMBERLY: “Those are so cool. Just be smart. Stay hydrated. Stay hydrated. It is so hot out there. It’s hot on the stage. It’s hot in the crowd, but you should come. If you’re even considering coming, come. You will not be disappointed.” PHILLIP: “Yeah, it’s hot, but it’s like so much fun, that you don’t think about it as much, because there’s so much to do and so many concerts going on, and it’s like the town just triples in size and it’s just incredible energy all over the place. Nashville comes alive.”
