ACM “New Male Artist Of The Year” nominee artist Travis Denning’s fan-favorite track “ABBY” has been sent to country radio. Since it’s release, the “clever kiss-off” (Billboard) breakup anthem has instantly turned heads with it’s double-edged lyrical anagram that has fans already amassing over 17 million streams and the track reaching the No. One spot on Sirius XM’s Highway Hot 30.
Written by Ashley Gorley, Matt Jenkins and Chase McGill, Denning’s cutting yet humorous delivery of “ABBY… that’s Any Body But You” has critics praising the “big-riff farewell song” (Tennessean) for it’s “playful” (Pop Culture) and “raucous” (American Songwriter) nature. “ABBY” arrives at country radio hot on the heels of Denning being named one of CRS New Faces and follows his No. One track and one of the Top 5 most played songs of 2020, “After A Few.”
“Ever since I first heard ‘ABBY’ I felt like it would connect with fans, but I had no idea it would have this crazy anthemic life it’s grown into,” he says. “It has by far become the most fun song to play live, and hearing people chant ‘A-B-B-Y’ always fires me up. I’m so excited for it to finally be hitting country radio.”
“I thought it was so funny and clever and quirky, and (it) just had all these things that I loved about country music and country music songwriting,” Travis adds. “And I think a lot of people can relate to having that one person that they’re just so happy is no longer part of their life, you know?”
A native of Warner Robins, Georgia, singer/songwriter and Mercury Nashville recording artist Travis Denning celebrated his first No. One and GOLD-certified single in 2020 with the “shadowy” (Rolling Stone) “After A Few.” Accelerating his ascend from a chart-topping single, the song is taken from his debut EP BEER’S BETTER COLD that debuted in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Country Albums chart. Denning first made waves showcasing his “future star power” (Billboard) with the release of his Top 40 debut single “David Ashley Parker From Powder Springs.” Denning has toured as direct support for Dustin Lynch and has previously opened shows for Cole Swindell, Alan Jackson, LANCO, Riley Green and his first headlining “Heartbeat Of A Small Town Tour.” With over 353 million streams worldwide, Denning has been spotlighted for his head-turning sound and was previously selected as one of CRS New Faces, an Opry NextStage recipient and a CMA KixStart Artist, as he makes his mark within the industry. Inspired at a young age, Denning developed a love for country, pop, rock and heavy metal and started playing local bars from the age of 16, as he built a strong following from his distinctive songs and raucous guitar solos. A prolific writer with an unquestionable stage presence, Denning moved to Nashville and secured outside cuts by Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Michael Ray and more. Denning’s newest songwriting cut includes Michael Ray’s Top 20 single “Her World Or Mine.” For more information, visit travisdenning.com.
Travis Denning (ABBY) OC: …relationship. :23
“’ABBY’ is just one of those songs that I heard and just knew I needed to record. I thought it was so funny and clever and quirky, and (it) just had all these things that I loved about country music and country music songwriting. And I think a lot of people can relate to having that one person that they’re just so happy is no longer part of their life, you know? (ha) I think this is a fun way of kind of looking at moving on from a relationship.”
