• CARRIE UNDERWOOD THRILLS FANS WITH BEAUTIFULLY HAUNTING NEW SINGLE “GHOST STORY” AVAILABLE TODAY (MARCH 18th).

After teasing fans with a series of mysterious posts beginning the night before her birthday this past week, 7-time GRAMMY® Award winner Carrie Underwood’s highly-anticipated new single, “Ghost Story,” is available today. The lyric video for the cinematic track is also available now.

Written by Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia and co-produced by David Garcia and Underwood, the superstar describes “Ghost Story” as “a different take on a revenge song, which is something I love to sing about.  Instead of smashing headlights, this scorned lover is letting her ex know that she will continue to haunt him no matter how hard he tries to forget her.”

“Ghost Story” is the latest collaboration between Underwood and Garcia, having co-produced her critically-acclaimed 2018 release, Cry Pretty, which marked the first time Underwood produced her own album.  Garcia and Underwood also co-produced Underwood’s 2021 album of gospel hymns, My Savior.  Underwood and Lindsey have collaborated on a string of hits such as “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “So Small,” “Last Name,” “Smoke Break,” “Church Bells,” and the now-iconic title track, “Cry Pretty.” Kear co-wrote Underwood’s signature hits, “Before He Cheats” and “Blown Away,” and co-wrote another cinematic classic, “Two Black Cadillacs” with Underwood and Lindsey.

“‘Ghost Story’ is a thrilling, dramatic song that David, Hillary and Josh wrote for me,” says Underwood.  “They are such talented, amazing songwriters who know me so well, and from the first time I heard it I knew I had to record it.  I have always loved performing songs that tell a story and inspire some kind of cinematic imagery when you hear them, and that is definitely true of ‘Ghost Story.’  It creates a mood and a vibe that is different than anything else I’ve recorded before.”

Underwood’s new single comes on the heels of winning her 16th ACM Award on March 7 – for Single of the Year with Jason Aldean for their smash hit duet, “If I Didn’t Love You.”  The multi-week #1 “If I Didn’t Love You” has spent a record-setting 26 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard Country Airplay so far, with more than 323 million global streams RTD..

Underwood is nominated for two 2022 GRAMMY® Awards – for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year for My Savior, and she and Aldean are nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “If I Didn’t Love You.”   The duo was also nominated this week for two 2022 CMT Music Awards for “If I Didn’t Love You” – Collaborative Video of the Year and Video of the Year, which Underwood won in 2021 for “Hallelujah,” with John Legend.  She continues to reign as the most awarded artist in CMT history with 23 total wins.

On March 23, she continues her ongoing REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency at the Resorts World Theatre, having opened the new 5,000-capacity, world-class theatre, the first artist to grace the largest and tallest stage in Las Vegas, with six sold-out shows in December.  Conceived by Underwood to celebrate some of the highlights of her stellar recording and touring career over the years, REFLECTION celebrates her greatest hits from over 15 years as an award-winning international superstar.  The production brings beloved fan favorites to life in a whole new way, utilizing spectacular special effects, pyrotechnics and state-of-the-art visual and audio technology, with Underwood joined onstage by her band, dancers, aerialists and a special virtual orchestra.  $1 from every ticket sold will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Underwood returns to the desert to headline the iconic Stagecoach Festival on Saturday, April 30th in Indio, California.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD RELEASES HER BRAND NEW SINGLE, “GHOST STORY.”

Today (March 18th), Carrie Underwood has released her much-anticipated new single, “Ghost Story.” Written by Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia and co-produced by David Garcia and Carrie Underwood, “Ghost Story” is a fresh, contemporary take on a revenge song, but instead of smashing headlights, this scorned lover is telling her ex that she will continue to haunt him no matter how hard he tries to forget her.

“’Ghost Story’ was written for me by David Garcia, Hilary Lindsey and Josh Kear, and I feel like they just nailed it when they got together to write. I’ve worked with all those incredibly talented writers a couple of which, I’ve worked with since pretty much the very beginning. I feel like they just know me so well. The song is hauntingly beautiful, has a really wide range and amazing melody and just tells this really cool, cinematic story of how this guy is never going to be able to let go of the girl he let go of because she’s just always going to be haunting him. He’s going to see her everywhere. He’s gonna want her back but she’s moved on – sorry man. (laughs) I loved this song, I loved recording it. It’s challenging vocally, but I like that. I feel like it’s just a really awesome song and I’m glad they got together to think of me while they were writing one day.”

    “Ghost Story” lyrics:

    You’re gonna see a shadow
Midnight playing tricks with your head
A silhouette float down the hallway
And you’ll reach for the light by your bed
You’ll hear a noise, swear you know the voice
And you’ll chase it down the stairs
You’ll look around, not a single sound
‘Cause there’s no one even there

I’m gonna be your ghost story
That keeping you up all night memory
I’ll be haunting you, you’ll be wanting me
I’m gonna be your ghost story
    Your ghost story
    Your ghost story

You’ll be sitting at home drinking ‘bout me
When I’m out with my friends at the bar
    But there ain’t enough whiskey
For you not to miss me
I’ll be waiting at the bottom of the bottle in the dark

I’m gonna be your ghost story
That keeping you up all night memory
I’ll be haunting you, you’ll be wanting me
I’m gonna be your ghost story
    Your ghost story, yeah
    Your ghost story

Ooh, you’ll wish you’d never said goodbye
Wish you’d never let me go
Let the love between us die
You can carve it into stone

I’m gonna be your ghost story
That keeping you up all night memory
I’ll be haunting you, you’ll be wanting me
I’m gonna be your ghost story

    Your ghost story, yeah, yeah
    Your ghost story, yeah, yeah
I’ll be haunting you, you’ll be wanting me
I’m gonna be your ghost story
    Your ghost story

“It’ll be years before I truly look back and realize what happened this week,” says McCollum. “I was nervous that all my hard work and sacrifice wouldn’t be worth it in the long run. • PARKER McCOLLUM SCORES SECOND NO. 1 WITH “TO BE LOVED BY YOU.”

Parker McCollum takes “To Be Loved By You” to the top of both of the country charts this week. The song is the follow-up to “Pretty Heart and his second chart-topper. He wrote the song with Songwriter Hall of Famer and ACM Songwriter of the Decade Rhett Akins, and Parker says he’s one of his favorite co-writers.

“He definitely is one of my favorite people to write with,” says Parker. “He loves to hunt, he loves to fish, and he loves really good country songs. And so, any time we get into a room together, even from the first time we ever hung out and tried to write, we had a lot in common. So, usually we’ll talk for like an hour, showing each other pictures of deers at our ranches or some fish we caught or something, and then we’ll get around to writing a song. And every time we’ve written, I’ve walked away really digging whatever came out of that session. And he’s just a great guy – he’s a Hall of Famer now – so, it’s just another kind of pinch me moment to get to write with people like that.”

Fresh from winning the ACM Award for New Male Artist of the Year and his sold-out headlining debut performance at the Houston Rodeo, Parker will head out on the road with Rhett Akins’ son and superstar artist, Thomas Rhett, on the Bring the Bar to You Tour, launching in Gilford, New Hampshire with a two-night stand beginning June 17th and travel across the country visiting 30 cities along the way to wrap in Dayton, Ohio, October 15th. Prior to the tour, Parker is playing numerous shows, and you can find all of the info on his tour dates here.
