• SAM HUNT IS STILL ROCKIN’ THE BEACH VIBES.

Sam Hunt has been in a super creative mode the first part of this year, thanks in large part to the beach. He and a few of his friends/co-writers recently went down to the beach for a few weeks to write songs, and he said it put him in a great state of mind and he’s kept the vibe by wearing his beachwear everywhere.

“Something switched in my brain when I got down there to the beach,” says Sam. “I rarely write, get up in the morning and write from like nine to midnight, but that’s what I was doing for two weeks straight…I was just so inspired while I was down there. We’d get up and write for a couple of hours, walk to the beach, take a little break for lunch, write for a couple of hours, take another little break. But I found myself at midnight, everybody else would go to bed and I’d still be in there just kind of chipping away, just really inspired. I was in such a great head space down there, I got back home and kind of got back in the routine of things and I could feel it slipping whatever it was that  I tapped into and so I started dressing like I was dressing down at the beach. I wore a bathing suit (board shorts) every day and these like loud button up short sleeve shirts and my little bucket hat that I was wearing. And I started to get it back again, and so it helped, somehow that helped my state of mind. I was just in this summer mood, and it’s helped my songwriting too. I know it’s a strange thing to say your outfit would affect your songwriting, but it kinda has.”

Sam is closing in on the top of the country charts with his latest smash, “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s.”

Audio / Sam Hunt talks about his recent creative streak at the beach, which he's continued now at home.

“Something switched in my brain when I got down there to the beach. I was down there for three weeks, (and) it took a couple of days to kind of get into the groove, but once I locked in…you know, I rarely write, get up in the morning and write from like nine to midnight, but that’s what I was doing for two weeks straight. Now, I probably should’ve paced myself. I was there for three weeks. That last week I was just burnt; I was worn out, but I was just so inspired while I was down there. We’d get up and write for a couple of hours, walk to the beach, take a little break for lunch, write for a couple of hours, take another little break. But I found myself at midnight, everybody else would go to bed and I’d still be in there just kind of chipping away, just really inspired. • ALAN JACKSON FEATURED ON APPLE MUSIC’S ESSENTIALS RADIO.

As he prepares for Friday’s (May 14) release of his new album, Where Have You Gone, country superstar Alan Jackson joins host Kelleigh Bannen for an in-depth look at his life and career as one of country music’s biggest icons and most prolific songwriters on Apple Music’s Essentials Radio.

From 1990’s Here In the Real World to Where Have You Gone in 2021, Jackson never waivers from the timeless elements intrinsic to traditional country music. The legendary singer discusses his humble beginnings, waking up in the middle of the night to write “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” and the stories behind his most beloved songs.

Jackson’s Essentials Radio interview makes its broadcast premiere and is available on demand Sunday, May 9 (1:00pm ET/10:00am PT). His appearance kicks off a week of activity leading up to the Friday release of Where Have You Gone, his first album of new music in six years.

“I started just wanting to make music I love and I know most of my fans love. And that’s what I wanted to do on this record,” Jackson tells Bannen.

Packed with 21 performances, Where Have You Gone is Jackson’s 16th studio album – his 25th in a storied career that includes two Christmas albums, two gospel albums, three Greatest Hits collections, a bluegrass album, and one boxed set. Jackson – a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame – wrote 15 of the album’s songs, including the title track. Keith Stegall, his longtime producer, once again plays that role on Where Have You Gone.

Led by the self-penned title track, Where Have You Gone is highlighted by such songs as the poignant and thoughtful “Things That Matter,” the heartache-filled “Way Down in My Whiskey” and the tender “I Can Be That Something.” Never one to shy away from reflecting real life in his music, “You’ll Always Be My Baby” and “I Do” were written for his daughters’ weddings…while “Where Her Heart Has Always Been” was written for his mother’s funeral and includes a recording of her reading from The Bible. There’s also plenty of fun to be had on barnburners like “Livin’ On Empty,” “Back” and “Beer:10.” And, in the spirit of the album’s overall sound, “That’s the Way Loves Goes (A Tribute to Merle Haggard)” is a bonus track. Pre-orders for Where Have You Gone are underway HERE.

Every other weekend on Apple Music’s Essentials Radio, a rotating cast of hosts explores the legendary hits that turned some of their favorite artists into superstars and household names. Alan Jackson: Essentials Radio can be heard live or on-demand on Apple Music Country at http://apple.co/_EssentialsRadio Sunday, May 9.

The California native marks his return to the spotlight with a stunning 13 track album produced by Mark Wright, Tony Brown, Greg Droman, Jay Joyce, and Allan himself. The songwriting shines, setting the tone for a body of work that feels engaging and fresh. The superb instrumentation is a stand-out of the record which adds a layer of complexity and appeal, drawing from Allan’s deep-rooted influences of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Allan’s unique storytelling coupled with his artistic nature masterfully ties the project together into his best work to date.

“This is a montage of everything I have done since my last album,” Allan says of Ruthless. “It’s what I love.  I remain influenced by the ‘90s — as well as by the ‘80s. Twenty-six tracks were cut for this album.  Then I went back to the studio and recorded three or four more tracks. Then I returned for two more. From each of these many sessions, I stripped out the cool stuff that I wanted on the record.”

Allan announced Ruthless yesterday during a special live stream appearance from House of Blues Studios in Nashville, exclusively on his Facebook and YouTube pages. During the live stream, Allan gave his fans a first listen to his new music including the smoldering lead track, “Temptation,” released today. Allan dropped the brand new merch collection that can be purchased with the album pre-order, including exclusive t-shirts, hats, vinyl, and more on his website at ruthless.garyallan.com.

With the allure of a modern-day outlaw, Gary Allan has won over fans, peers and critics with his signature blend of smoldering vocals, rebellious lyrics and raucous live performances. While becoming a force on the country music scene, Allan has remained true to his artistic voice each step of the way. In 2016 Allan re-signed with Universal Music Group Nashville, the label home for the entirety of his twenty-four year career. His last album, Set You Free, topped the all-genre Billboard 200, a career first for Allan.  The album also made its debut at the top of the Billboard Country Album chart (for the fourth time in a row) and produced his fifth #1 country radio chart topper with “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain).”  The California native released his first album, Used Heart for Sale, in 1996 and since then has released eight additional studio albums selling over 8 million albums, been certified platinum on three back-to-back albums, and been certified gold five times.  Allan has five No. 1 hits at country radio, fourteen Top 10 hits to his credit and amassed over 2.6 billion total streams. His album Smoke Rings in the Dark recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of his first ever vinyl appearance. He’s described as “dark and dreamy” in Entertainment Weekly, “soulful and rough around the edges” in Playboy and deemed a “maverick” by Rolling Stone.  He has sold out venues as a headliner from NY to LA, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Live with Kelly and Michael and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He has also landed on the covers of Country Weekly, Pollstar and People magazine.

  • JON PARDI’S “TEQUILA LITTLE TIME” ARRIVES IN TIME FOR CINCO DE MAYO.

Jon Pardi’s official music video for “Tequila Little Time” arrives just in time for Cinco De Mayo. Filmed in Orange Beach, FL, the official music video was directed by Carlos Ruiz and features Pardi serving up some cheer and dancing, after a woman loses her most loyal companion, her puppy (which is Jon’s actual dog, Cowboy). With sunshine and mariachi’s just around the corner, it’s time to remedy with some tequila and a little bit of lime.

Pardi recently performed “Tequila Little Time” on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” “Tequila Little Time” is off Pardi’s critically-acclaimed album Heartache Medication, and follows his Platinum-certified #1 title track “Heartache Medication” and his Billboard Top 5 “Ain’t Always The Cowboy.” Billboard lauded the song as a “swaying track with clever word play” and Sounds Like Nashville said it’s, “made to inspire good memories just like its party-starting subject.”

Pardi was the first Country artist to have two #1 singles on Country Radio in 2020 and closed out the year with the release of Heartache Medication Deluxe Edition, issued on the heels of his first CMA Album of the Year nomination, his second consecutive ACM Album of the Year nomination, and the Platinum-certification of title track “Heartache Medication.” HEARTACHE MEDICATION debuted among the top albums on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and was named on Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums of the Year” and The Los Angeles Times “Best Albums of the Year” (#4) list as the only country artist/album represented. A “hero in the making” (Variety), Pardi is noted for his “long-lasting mark on the genre” (Music Row) and his impressive ability to carve out his own path creating “the kind of country music multiple generations came to know, and love can still work on a mass scale” (Variety). Filled with fiddle, twang and steel guitar, Pardi continues to “apply new ideas to country’s old sounds” (Los Angeles Times) and “bring authenticity back into Country music” (People). Pardi is currently featured on the collaboration duet “Getting Over Him” with Lauren Alaina. For more information, visit www.jonpardi.com.

  • JORDAN DAVIS ANNOUNCES NEW EP BUY DIRT OUT MAY 21ST.

Jordan Davis announced his new EP, Buy Dirt, to be released May 21. Produced by Paul DiGiovanni, Buy Dirt is Davis’ eight-song follow-up to last year’s self-titled EP and his debut album Home State. Davis co-wrote every song on the EP except for the John Prine inspired “Blow Up Your TV,” who is a major influence on Davis and his music. As a husband and new father, Davis finds himself in a different place in his life, and the songs reflect it. Davis stakes his claim as a country innovator, both expanding and modernizing his sound without abandoning his love for the classics.

“I’ve always loved artists who take risks,” says Davis. “I’m in a different spot in my life than I was when I released Home State. We all are! 2020 was a tough time for everyone. I was able to use that time to re-center some things in my world, and I didn’t want those lessons to go to waste. I wanted to create something special. The best way to that was to write honestly, and we did a lot of that on this record.”

Country superstar Luke Bryan lends his vocals on the vulnerable title track and centerpiece of the EP. The two musicians had first met at an awards show, then bumped into each other on the golf course throughout the years that followed. “We sat around the fire after a golf tournament one day, smoking cigars and talking about everything but music,” Davis recalls. “That conversation always stuck with me. Luke isn’t just a great entertainer; he’s a great Dad, a great husband, and a great friend, too. That’s what ‘Buy Dirt’ embodies. When I wrote ‘Buy Dirt,’ I knew he could relate to the song’s message. I took a chance and asked him to join me on the recording, and he said yes.”

Additionally, Fans can watch the EP trailer detailing the new project HERE. Davis’ current single, “Almost Maybes,” is currently Top 10 on the country radio charts and Davis will hit the road this Fall performing on Kane Brown’s Blessed and Free Tour.

MCA Nashville’s Jordan Davis has been named an “Artist to Watch” by Billboard, Rolling Stone, CMT, Pandora, Shazam, Amazon Music, Sounds Like Nashville, The Tennessean, SiriusXM, Whiskey Riff, and more. A Native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Davis graduated from LSU and briefly pursued the path of his degree working as an environmental consultant; however, his passion for music and songwriting eventually compelled him to move to Nashville in the summer of 2012. The 2020 ACM New Male Artist of the Year nominee has accumulated over 2 billion streams worldwide and notched three consecutive No. 1 hits: Platinum-Certified “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot,” the Double Platinum-Certified “Singles You Up” and Platinum-Certified “Take It From Me.” In 2019 Davis won Best New Country Artist at the iHeart Radio Music Awards and was a nominee for ACM New Male Artist of the Year. He was also named Billboard’s Top New Country Artist of 2018 as well as Country Aircheck/Mediabase’s Most Heard New Artist of 2018. • ERIC CHURCH EARNS BACK-TO-BACK NO. 1 DEBUTS ON THE ALL-GENRE BILLBOARD TOP ALBUM SALES CHART AS SOUL REPLACES HEART IN THE TOP SPOT.

As critical acclaim for Eric Church’s new triple album Heart & Soul continues to roll in, the 10-time GRAMMY nominee is also making waves atop the Billboard charts. Not only does the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year replace himself atop the all-genre Top Album Sales chart, as Soul takes over the No. 1 spot following Heart’s chart-topping debut last week, he also continues to occupy three of the Top 10 spots with the expansive project: Heart at No. 9, the fan-club exclusive at No. 3 and Soul at No. 1.

In addition, Church sits atop the all-genre Billboard Artist 100 chart while also becoming the first country artist to simultaneously occupy the top two spots on the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart since its inception in 2011, with Soul and & at No. 1 and 2 respectively. Meanwhile at radio, his current single “Hell Of A View” off the Soul album also enters the Top 5 on the Mediabase chart.

The ambitious triple project has received glowing reviews from fans and critics alike, with Variety celebrating Church as “a flexible, emotional singer whose songwriting and curatorial skills go beyond country’s current crop of boys-own crooners, with an experimental edge, but without forgetting its traditions” while Rolling Stone praises the “urgent, seat-of-your-pants records,” noting that “the Nashville maverick delivers his biggest, boldest statement.”

“The albums feature some of the most liberating and freewheeling work of the 44-year-old country star’s career,” adds Entertainment Weekly, reflecting that “the three-part project also reflects the lightning-in-a-bottle energy of the sessions that made it.”

Church also plans to take that energy to the road this fall for his appropriately titled The Gather Again Tour. As part of what Billboard described as “Church’s crusade to get fans vaccinated – and bring concerts back,” he has planned a 55-city run of full-capacity arena dates through the U.S. and Canada, kicking off this September in Lexington, Ky. and wrapping in May 2022 at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden. Church Choir pre-sales begin tomorrow, May 4, with tickets on sale to the general public beginning this Friday, May 7. A full list of dates is available HERE.

For more information, visit www.ericchurch.com and follow on Facebook and Twitter @ericchurch and Instagram @ericchurchmusic.

    About Eric Church
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and 10-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church has spent the past year-plus releasing new music at a relentless pace; providing a glimpse into the marathon session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day – including current Top 5 single “Hell of a View” – while sequestered in rural North Carolina. The resulting project, his critically acclaimed new triple album, Heart & Soul, is available now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During his most recent outing, 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, February 7 to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and will return to the road for The Gather Again Tour this fall.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner, and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous album, Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category) and produced his most recent No. 1 hit, “Some Of It.” Additional releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”)as well as 22 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

Audio / Eric Church talks about really letting creativity take the front seat for his new collection of albums, Heart & Soul.

    Download

Eric Church (albums) OC: …we’ve done. :39
“The main fact about my new album(s) was we wrote and recorded 28 songs in 28 days. We secluded ourselves in the mountains of North Carolina, and I’d get up in the morning and write a song and we would record the song that night. And the thinking was we’d remove all the barriers of what people think or a publisher thinks or a label thinks. It really was letting creativity be creativity, and some of my favorite records from the ‘70s and ‘80s were done that way. So, we tried to go back and let creativity reign, and it is unequivocally my favorite music we’ve done.”

I wrote it in the summertime, and I recorded it secretly too, and I had this idea that I wanted to play it for her for Christmas,” Taylor said when it was originally released over a decade ago. “And so when I got the track, I synched up all these home videos from when I was a little kid to go along with the song like a music video. And played it for her on Christmas Eve, and she was crying her eyes out.”

“The Best Day (Taylor’s version)” is from the re-recorded version of her Fearless album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200.

Audio / Back in 2008, Taylor Swift talked about writing and recording “The Best Day” for her mother, Andrea. In the song, she sings about her childhood, and how her mom and other members of her family served as a refuge for her during tough emotional times.
