Of the album, Pardi also explains, “I nicknamed my place out here Rancho Fiesta because it was fun and sounded uplifting. We recorded this at the shop out here and I thought it made sense to reference where the project was recorded.”

Jon Pardi (how RF Sessions came about) OC: …in my shop. :56
“It came about right when the quarantine, kinda everything shut down. so it got kinda weird, ya know, not seeing the guys, not playing music. So, we just got together maybe twice a month, and we started just jamming and playing songs and recording while drinking. And then started sharing it around to management and just friends and such everybody loved it. And we all thought after the second time we did it that maybe we should just make an album out of this and just get it out as fast as we can, ‘cause it is live. You’ll hear us laughing in the back of the track or you’ll hear me yell or you can hear the room. So it’s just kinda fu.  I think that’s what some of the magic is, that it was all recorded at once and we did three or four takes of one song. We recorded all those songs at the same night there wasn’t any other session and it was all in my shop.”

Audio / Jon Pardi explains how he came up with the title of his Rancho Fiesta Sessions.

“I think the magic and the fun of it is all in these eight cover songs that I really liked or I grew up singing and some of them are just not really your standard covers, so I think that’s kinda fresh for this project. I don’t know, I think it’s gonna be fun. I think people are gonna be like, ‘Damn, you did this, you did that.’ It’s kinda all around.”

  • PARKER MCCOLLUM RELEASES NEW SONG “YOUNG MAN’S BLUES.”

MCA Nashville’s rising star Parker McCollum has released a new track titled “Young Man’s Blues” today. Written by Parker along with frequent collaborator Randy Montana, the nostalgic song finds Parker reminiscing on the pain that comes from growing up and spending less time in your hometown. Parker has also released an official music video for the song which can be viewed HERE.

“When I started this song, it just kind of fell out of me,” shares Parker. “I’ve been on the edge of growing up and wanting to stay a kid for quite some time now. This song was bound to happen at some point. Young man’s blues was the best way I could describe what is constantly on my mind these days. Taking it to Randy Montana to finish it off was just luck on my part. He literally pulled the second verse out of me. He always seems to know exactly where I am going with a song before I do. This is the most honest I’ve been with myself in a song since ‘Pretty Heart’ and I’m so happy with the way it turned out.”

Parker’s debut single, “Pretty Heart,” continues to climb the country airplay charts having recently cracked the Top 20. Billboard says the tune, “showcases McCollum’s ability at writing and releasing unique story songs that leave a lasting mark on the listener” while MusicRow adds, “‘Pretty Heart’ is further evidence of his authentic sound.” “Pretty Heart” is averaging almost 4 Million streams a week adding to Parker’s overall career total of 350 Million streams.

A native of Austin, Texas, Parker has made a strong impression on critics and fans alike. American Songwriter notes, “he teeters on the edge of next-level superstardom, taking cues from rule breakers like Chris Stapleton and Kacey Musgraves.” Earlier this year, Parker released the special track “Like A Cowboy” (co-written by Chris Stapleton and Al Anderson) which marked Parker’s first outside cut. Parker spoke to Billboard about the unique connection he felt to the song as it reminded him of his grandfather and his upbringing.

Parker has been named a SiriusXM Highway Finds Artist and has previously been selected as an Artist to Watch by CMT, Rolling Stone, SiriusXM, MusicRow and Sounds Like Nashville. A singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and dedicated road warrior, Parker began building a following in 2015 with his album The Limestone Kid. The track “Meet You in The Middle” became a hit on Texas’ regional radio chart — no small feat for an independent, 22-year-old musician — but it was the album’s widely-acclaimed follow-up, Probably Wrong, that helped Parker find national success. Compared to John Mayer and Jason Isbell by Rolling Stone, Parker supported the album with a string of sold-out shows, bringing record-breaking crowds to venues like San Angelo’s RiverStage and two sold-out night at Billy Bob’s along the way. Born in Conroe, TX, the 27-year-old entrepreneurially-spirited artist bridges the gap between Texas’ homegrown music scene and Nashville’s country-industry headquarters.

  • JON PARDI SELECTS STRAIT SONGS FOR NEW PROJECT IN MEMORY OF HIS GRANDMOTHER AND A LESSON IN SONG SELECTION.

Jon Pardi recently surprised fans by releasing the unannounced album RANCHO FIESTA SESSIONS, which features music that he is inspired by, and also loves performing. Two of the songs on the 8-track project, are from George Strait, “Marina Del Rey” and “Right or Wrong.” Both songs were from George’s albums from the 1980s, and had a Texas Swing style, which Jon enlisted his fiddle player Billy’s help in perfecting that musical sound for the songs. But “Right or Wrong” made the album for a very special reason—it reminds Jon of growing up with his grandmother. While George’s influence, not only on Jon, but all of country music, is quite evident, Jon wanted to make sure he put that song among this group of songs.

“One of my favorites because it reminds me of growing up with my grandmother, and it also reminds me of just that early Strait sound that kind of links me back to a time period, and I know everybody who listens to music has that feeling, that you hear a song and it reminds you of your grandma’s backyard. And I wanted to learn the jazz chords, and stuff. ‘Right or Wrong’ was a Texas swing — lots of jazz, so Billy (his fiddle player), taught me a lot of — here’s how you play Texas swing, and that’s not something everybody can do,” says Jon. “So, it was more of a stretch now in doing something hard and fun in a song you grew up doing and from one of your heroes. George, like all these guys we covered, he wrote a little bit of his stuff, but he also covered all kinds of songs and he also cut outside songs, and he’s just been a guys I always looked up too. I love his music, and he taught me a lot about song selection, you know, I think he’s taught everybody in country music about song selection.”

While you’re checking out RANCHO FIESTA SESSIONS, you can also check out Jon’s other song “Ain’t Always the Cowboy” which is climbing the charts as a top 20 hit!

  • MADDIE & TAE’S DIE FROM A BROKEN HEART HAS AFFECTED MANY HEARTS.

Maddie & Tae are poised to score a No. 1 song with “Die From A Broken Heart.” The pair co-wrote the song with Jonathan Singleton, Deric Ruttan just two weeks after the duo’s Taylor Dye went through a breakup. Now happily married to hit songwriter Josh Kerr, Tae and her partner Maddie Marlow are excited about the reaction to the song.

“The reaction to ‘Die From A Broken Heart’ was completely unexpected. We didn’t even realize that song was gonna have the life that it is having,” says Maddie. “It excites me. I can’t even tell you how much it excites me to hear our fans relate to this because it’s so our story and so real and true of what we’ve been through. Like for example, there was a mom that said, ‘My daughter’s going through her first heartbreak, and he wasn’t good for her anyways. She doesn’t realize that now, but that song is getting her through it.’ And that just gives us so much purpose and just like keeps us going just knowing that we’re doing something for people. Just being a Mom and listening to that song, you are right there with your kid, and that’s what the goal is with writing. You want to put people right in that song and make them feel like they’re there.”

First released in April 2019, “Die From A Broken Heart” has scorched the country charts in recent weeks. It will be the pair’s first chart-topper since their debut single “Girl In A Country Song” reached No. 1 in 2014.

  • JORDAN DAVIS IS TAKING TIME TO CONNECT WITH FAMILY AND FISHING.

This year has been an “interesting” year for everyone, but for artists like Jordan Davis, who make a living from not being at home much, quarantine has been a nice stay-at-home moment. While he’s anxious to get back out on tour performing shows, Jordan has taken this time to really appreciate the things he normally doesn’t get to do. He admits that he’s never spent this much time at home at one time since he got married, or since he and his wife Kristen welcomed their daughter Eloise into the world, so spending time with them has been a blessing. Jordan has also had time to reconnect with activities from his past…like fishing. Jordan shares that both of his grandparents lived by water, and he spent a lot of his childhood fishing with his grandfathers, so having time to now go out on his own boat on the lake near his house in Nashville helps brings back those great childhood memories.

“Being home for this amount of time is something that hasn’t been there for my entire marriage with Kristen. So, we’ve been able to reconnect and spend time with Eloise,” says Jordan. “But also for me, growing up fishing was a passion on mine, both of my grandparents live by water and that was a special time for me to be out in a boat with my grandpas and catching fish. To where now, I recently just got a boat, and I’ve been spending a lot of mornings out on a lake here in Nashville going after the elusive carp. I have not been able to find them yet. But, it really is awesome to make a thermos of coffee and go out there by myself and get a line in the water and chase perch for a little bit and then try and go catch some bass. It really is bringing me back to those summers on Toledo Bend with my grandfather. It’s a special time, and I’m really enjoying reconnecting with that.”

While he’s out fishing, the Louisiana’s latest hit, “Almost Maybes,” is making its way up the country charts

And if you miss seeing Jordan perform live, you can check out him out playing a very special acoustic version of his song “Detours” to an audience of one…his daughter Eloise, right HERE.

  • JOSH TURNER RELEASES HIS NEW ALBUM, COUNTRY STATE OF MIND, ON FRIDAY.

Country State of Mind from Josh Turner arrives tomorrow! The 12 tracks on the album features music that is near and dear to Josh, and includes appearances from country legends, plus some of today’s hottest stars.

The idea for the album first started last summer, and was inspired by the old Vern Gosdin song “I Can Tell By The Way You Dance”—a song that Josh Turner loves, but feels doesn’t get its proper recognition these days. Country State of Mind was not only a chance for Josh to record songs from artists on his own personal “Mount Rushmore of Country Music” but he sees it as a chance to introduce his fans to songs and artists that perhaps they aren’t too familiar with. Of course, he had the opportunity to test that theory early on after finishing the album with a very specific audience…his kids! Turns out they love the collection, and each have their own personal favorite, which is something that Josh thinks will translate to his fans as well.

When looking for songs for the album, Josh combed through tracks that were very important to him personally and professionally, so one song he knew he had to include was Keith Whitley’s “I’m No Stranger To The Rain.” The track, which kicks off the album, is one that Josh says “I’ve always felt like this was one of those perfectly written country songs”, and still to this day as a writer inspires him when creating his own songs.

Josh Turner (I’m No Stranger to the Rain) 2 OC: …moments.
“Musically and lyrically, I’ve always felt like this was one of those perfectly written country songs, and it was something … and it still is something … as a writer that I try to aspire to, when I sit down to write a song. It’s like, if I can get anywhere close to the level that this song is, I’m doing pretty good, because like I say, it just … It was written by Sonny Curtis and Ron Hillard. And this has always been one of my favorite country songs. And so, when it came time to make this record I had to do it, because it has such an incredible message of just perseverance and endurance and determination and not letting the challenges in life keep you down. You have to continue to keep taking one step forward and just one step at a time and just powering through those rough moments.”

Audio / Josh Turner shares the story of how the idea for his new album Country State Of Mind came about.

Josh Turner (How CSOM came about) OC: …modernized it.
“My manager and I started talking about this…summer of last year. We had kind of kicked the idea around the label liked it. The first song that came to mind when we started talking about this record was ‘I Can Tell By The Way You Dance’ – the old Vern Gosdin song. I’ve always wanted to kind of give that song a rebirth, a new treatment. I’ve always felt like lyrically and melodically it’s just always timeless, but it’s always kind of bogged down in that 80s production. This new version, of mine, I feel like it could be a hit today, just really kind of modernized it.”

Audio / Josh Turner’s kids love the new album, and have picked out their favorite songs, and Josh says that’s part of what this album is for…introducing new music to people.

Josh Turner (kids love album) OC: …my control.
“That’s a first-hand reminder of what I wanted to accomplish with this record. I know that there’s going to be a lot of fans out there that are going to hear songs on this record and feel like ‘Man, I’ve never heard that song’ or ‘I’m not familiar with that artist’ or whatever, so I want to kind of use this record as an opportunity to introduce fans to maybe some stuff that they weren’t familiar with before. That’s always an objective of mine, whether of not I accomplish that (laughs) is kind of out of my control.”
