  • BRAD PAISLEY WILL HIT THE COMEDY STAGE TO RAISE MONEY FOR “THE STORE.”

Brad Paisley and his wife, actress and best-selling author Kimberly Williams-Paisley, along with Zanies in Nashville, are presenting a benefit show, “Groceries  with Dignity & Comedy Without” at Zanies on Wednesday, July 5th at Zanies in Nashville. The evening will include “the nicest man in stand-up” and Nashville native Nate Bargatze and will feature a night of improv with Brad, Saturday Night Live alum and comedian Kevin Nealon and Groundlings Alumni, an improvisation and sketch comedy group that is Hollywood’s foremost comedy training ground and a springboard for countless careers. The event sold out within an hour of tickets going on sale.

Proceeds from the SOLD OUT event will go to The Store. Founded by Brad and Kimberly Williams-Paisley, The Store is a free-referral based grocery store, which aims to empower low-income individuals and families in the Nashville area. The Store operates with the mission of allowing people to shop for their basic needs in a way that protects dignity and fosters hope.

Brad, who says there will be huge famous guests on stage as part of the event, explains the concept behind the special evening: “I wanted to do something for the store that is all good fun and not an event that’s stuffy or any sort of, it’s not a banquet. It’s literally us telling jokes, my favorite comedians telling jokes, my favorite comedians goofing around. I came up with the name, our charity is Groceries With Dignity is the concept. When you have choice, when you go into The Store, you get to choose the food you feed your family, just like you’re shopping. That’s the point, and there’s dignity in choice, there’s dignity in the fact that it’s a very normal experience. It’s not a handout in a paper bag or anything like that, and it helps you get back on your feet and there’s dignity in that. And then this comedy night is supposed to be without dignity.”

The night of comedy will follow Brad’s headline concert Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th in the heart of downtown Nashville. The event will present one of the country’s largest July 4th fireworks show synchronized to live music from the GRAMMY-winning Nashville Symphony, and will feature charitable partner The Store. This is the second time Brad has headlined the July 4th concert for the city.

“I think (Nate Bargatze) is my favorite current comedian, other than I’ve got to say Kevin Nealon who’s one of my dearest friends. But Kevin is coming in to town and Kevin’s wife is from Nashville, and then I have a lot of dear friends in The Groundlings, which is this amazing improv group in California. There’s Oscar winners and there’s people that’ll be a surprise, like you won’t believe who’s going to be up on stage goofing around, I think.”

  • ERIC CHURCH TO SERVE AS 2023 ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE AT THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME® AND MUSEUM.

In recognition of his standing as one of country music’s most innovative talents, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has invited 10-time Grammy nominee Eric Church to be its 18th artist-in-residence.

The museum’s annual artist-in-residence series spotlights an artist with an exemplary body of work and asks the featured artist to create one-of-a-kind performances over multiple evenings. The museum offers its intimate CMA Theater as a blank canvas, with the understanding that the artist will curate shows that inspire appreciation for their talents and vision – often incorporating different themes and special guests.

Church will produce and perform two shows, on Tuesday, August 29th, and Wednesday, August 30th, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets to each performance range from $75 to $500 (plus ticketing fees) with all proceeds benefiting the nonprofit museum’s educational mission. Museum members and Eric Church’s “Church Choir” fan club will have access to a special presale this Thursday (June 22nd) at 10am. Tickets to both shows will be available to the public this Friday (June 23rd), at 10am, on the museum’s website. Sales are limited to four tickets per transaction on a first-come, first-served basis and are non-refundable.

Church joins a prestigious group of past participants that includes 10 members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Cowboy Jack Clement opened the series in 2003, and other past honorees include (in chronological order) Earl Scruggs, Tom T. Hall, Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Douglas, Vince Gill, Buddy Miller, Connie Smith, Kenny Rogers, Ricky Skaggs, Alan Jackson, Rosanne Cash, Jason Isbell, Miranda Lambert, Marty Stuart and John Prine.

“As a student of the rich history of country music’s most prolific artists, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a shrine of reverence for this songwriter’s heart,” shared Church. “I’m honored and humbled to be included in such esteemed company.”

*In addition to serving as 2023 artist-in-residence, Church will also be the subject of a new exhibition at the museum exploring the life and career of the CMA Entertainer of the Year winner. Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul, presented by Gibson, opens July 13th and will chronicle Church’s unique path to stardom, from his early years playing late-night gigs in bars and writing songs in Nashville to his prominence as one of country music’s most authentic voices and revered rule-breakers. The exhibit is included with museum admission and will run until June 2024.

The artist-in-residence announcement comes ahead of the kickoff of Church’s The Outsiders Revival Tour this Thursday, June 22. The first fully outdoor tour of his career will feature a rotating lineup of emerging artists across varying dates, Whiskey Myers, Cody Jinks, Jelly Roll, Ashley McBryde, Koe Wetzel, Lainey Wilson, Midland, Parker McCollum, Travis Tritt, Elle King and Paul Cauthen, plus Jackson Dean, Morgan Wade, Muscadine Bloodline, Shane Smith & The Saints, Hailey Whitters, Ray Wylie Hubbard and The Red Clay Strays.

Luke Bryan (Country On Tour) OC: …in the summer. :27
“I’m so excited about this year’s summer tour, the Country On Tour. I’ve got a lot of new up and coming artists. Some of ‘em have had a hit, some of ‘em are about to have a hit. They’re gonna be out there with me, and I’m so excited to be around young talent and watch them enjoy the summer tour. But, yeah, my favorite part about being out there on the Country On Tour is going town to town, and nothing is better than being out on the road in the summer.”

  • GEORGE STRAIT FANS SET NEW STADIUM RECORD IN SEATTLE: 59,142.

On Saturday night (June 17th), George Strait broke the attendance record at Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, Sounders FC and OL Reign, with 59,142  turned out to celebrate with the King.

Marking his first time performing at Lumen — having last played in Tacoma on his Cowboy Rides Away Tour on April 12th, 2014 — the Texas troubadour kicked things off shortly after 9p, commencing his illustrious 31-song set.

As one of only a handful of remaining chances to see Strait this year, the crowd reveled in the opportunity, erupting in response to Strait’s saunter to stage and simple salutation, “Hello Seattle!”

With 60 No. 1 singles to pull from — and 25 Top 10s — the 89x Platinum music icon played offerings spanning from 1981’s Strait Country to 2019’s Honky Tonk Time Machine.

Midway through set, Strait welcomed Chris Stapleton to the stage to perform “Pancho and Lefty” followed by two songs the 10x GRAMMY winner penned for Strait: “You Don’t Know What You’re Missing” and “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright.”

A few stadium shows remain this year: Nashville, Tennessee on July 28th & 29th and Tampa, Florida on August 5. For more information and to purchase tickets to upcoming dates, visit GeorgeStrait.com.

“It’s been seven years since I’ve played Red Rocks, so when I heard that we could get two nights on the schedule there, I jumped at it.  Some of the best concert experiences of my life have been in Colorado, and that venue is certainly at the top of the list,” said Bentley. “I’m bringing along some of my favorite singers and musicians to give the fans two nights they’ll never forget.”

Additionally, the ‘90s influenced band Hot Country Knights, whose last set at the Seven Peaks Music Festival was canceled because of inclement weather, will make a not-so-triumphant return to headline their own show at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row Denver on Labor Day (Sept. 4).  To make up for the heartbreak and longing those hardcore fans have endured the last 12 months, Seven Peakers will have first access to tickets for the one-night stand Hot Country Knights: Refuse To Be Canceled on June 22nd. Any remaining tickets will be available Friday, June 23rd at 10:00a local time at Dierks.com.
