“Outskirts” Lyrics – written by Sam Hunt, Zach Crowell, Josh Osborne, Jerry Flowers

There’s so much goin’ on in this town
To keep me busy, I’ve been runnin’ around
Up and down all these avenues
Doin’ everything but thinkin’ ’bout you

As long on as I stay on ’em, I’m fine
The city side of those city limit signs
You don’t really cross my mind

But soon as I get out here on the outskirts
I wish I was runnin’ by your house first
Somethin’ ’bout a summer in the south sure
Shines like gold down these old

    Round bail river valley backroads
Way back in the holler where the grass grows
God almighty, baby, we were that close
To ditchin’ this town and settilin’ down
    Out here on the outskirts

If I’da had a lick of damn sense
I’d be on the greener side of that fence
Little starter house we’ve finally outgrown
1,200 feet we’re ’bout to add on

    Smilin’ out there watchin’ them
Big ol’ yellow buckets ’bout to break ground
While you’re shootin’ all my baby names down

But soon as I get out here on the outskirts
I wish I was runnin’ by your house first
Somethin’ ’bout a summer in the south sure
Shines like gold down these old
    Round bail river valley backroads
Way back in the holler where the grass grows
God almighty, baby, we were that close
To ditchin’ this town and settilin’ down
    Out here on the outskirts

I’m over all these Saturday nights
I miss the stars in your eyes

We were gonna give up on the fast life
Have a couple babies, raise ’em up right
Take ’em to the river, get ’em baptized
Back in our day, if I’d just stayed

I wouldn’t be livin’ in this condo
Hangin’ out with Hailey from Toronto
God almighty, baby, we were that close
    Ditchin’ uptown, puttin’ roots down
    Out here on the outskirts

Sam Hunt (Outskirts) OC: …gist of it. :55

“It’s going to sort of be in line with this character who has come to a crossroads in his life between sort of choosing the world and his dreams and maybe a family and future kids and his roots. And as he gets off down the road, out into the world, he’s kind of looking back like, uh, did I do the right thing here? That’s kind of the theme that runs through most of these songs that’ll be coming out here. But it’sthe idea is, uh, that, you know, he’s living in town and fills his schedule and always busy just trying to find his way in the world. And it’s easy to do in town, but as soon as he gets out, out on the outskirts of town, he’s reminded of the choice, the road he didn’t take, and he’s second guessing whether or not he’s on the right path or not. So that’s essentially the gist of it.”

GRAVEL & GOLD has sparked critical approval and generated multiple memorable national television appearances already, “proving indeed why he is one of Country’s biggest stars,” (TODAY). Bentley discussed the writing process behind the album with the TODAY show here along with performances of his Top 15 single “Gold,” “the swampy rocker” (Rolling Stone) “Same Ol’ Me,” as well as his No. One hit “Free & Easy.” Bentley also invited bluegrass legend Sam Bush to accompany him for a performance of “Sun Sets in Colorado” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and took CBS Mornings to his Whiskey Row location on Nashville’s Lower Broadway to reflect on the journey to GRAVEL & GOLD here.

Dierks Bentley (rotating opening acts) OC: …capacity. :54
“Before Jordan, you know, I really just want to kind of bring as many people out as possible, so just going to have an alternating group of people that I’m just huge fans of. Molly Tuttle’s coming out doing some shows, which is going to be ridiculous. The whole band’s gonna be sides stage and crew watching her show every night. Elle King’s gonna come out and do some shows. The Red Clay Strays, who I discovered at my Seven Peaks Festival, are going to come out. I mean, that band is just over the top good. Hailey Whitters is coming out for some stuff. The Cadillac Three might be out there for some things; one of my favorite bands of all time. So, it’s going to be really exciting to have that kind of roving cast in the front, and then the stability of Jordan Davis getting the job done every night. And I didn’t know if the Hot Country Knights are going to make it this year or not, but, like Travis Denning, he was very disappointed to hear that they might not come. So, he’s requested the Knights come out for one final tour. So, this might be it for the Hot Country Knights, but they are, they will be out there with us in some capacity.”

The War And Treaty (Lover’s Game) 1 OC: …was honest. 1:26
TANYA: “We come from so many different places with music. I mean, we love blues, and when you think of country music and people always ask, ‘Why are you signed to a country music label?’ Well, blues, jazz, gospel, all of the things that make up who we are, you know, what we grew up listening to, even Calypso. My mother was Hispanic, so we grew up listening to all different styles of music. And then the Country music genre itself, it really exemplifies the kind of lifestyle that Michael and I have. It’s the one music you can have fun, you can drink a beer, you can talk about your faith, you can have a good time and it encompasses that sound, so you can write about all those things and the storytelling is there as well.” MICHAEL: “But with this album, if you don’t mind me interjecting, I think that the main focus was to let it just pour out of you however it’s gonna come out and intentionally given the sound of our love. Sometimes our love has the heartbreak of a country or a blues song; sometimes our love has the elegance and smokiness of jazz or the sexiness of R&B or the urgency salvation of gospel and Christian. So, we just wanted it to sound the way we felt and that was honest.”

The War And Treaty (Church of The War and Treaty) OC: (Michael) …gift of love. :34
TANYA: “It’s what we say at our shows, you know, ‘Welcome to the Church of The War and Treaty and the message you’re gonna get here is love, love, love, love.’ That’s it. That’s how we introduce them to our shows, every show.” MICHAEL: “That’s our saying, all the time. It’s very important that you remember just how powerful love is, and love is not cliché, no matter how you slice it. Love never goes out of style, love is always in, and what we all need now is love and so this record is Tanya and I’s gift of love.”

As a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, Dalton Dover continues to reach new career milestones with the debut of his first single via UMG Nashville/ Mercury Records, as Giving Up On That is the most added song at Country radio with 60 first week stations, along with fans streaming the song and garnering over 1 million streams in the first two weeks of its release.

“To have this much support on my first official single is such an incredible feeling,” shares Dover. “Thank you to my team for believing in me and this song and thank you to Country radio for your excitement and enthusiasm. This is definitely a week I’ll never forget!”

Written by Dover with Adam Craig and Josh Pierce, “Giving Up On That” showcases Dover’s sharp vocals as he pleads with a long-gone lover, recounting his previous screw-ups and outlining the steps he’s taken to prove his loyalty and his desire to try again, as Country Now lauds “Dalton Dover is off to a roaring start in 2023,” with The Boot praising, “this heartbreak track has all the makings of a country radio hit,” while MusicRow boasts, “This power ballad of regret and yearning gives him a super showcase for his dynamic, whisper-to-a-scream vocal ability. A solid winner. Make this man a star.”

This week, Dover prepares to make his international debut at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour in April. This summer, the Georgia native will perform at the 50th Anniversary of CMA Fest at Nissan Stadium’s Platform Stage and Chevy Vibes Stage. Dover honed his captivating live show last year with two performances at CMA Fest, opening for Luke Comb’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium show in Atlanta, Ga. and joining Priscilla Block’s Welcome To The Block Party Tour.

After being named a Spotify 2022 Artist to Watch, he released “Hear About A Girl,” earning praise from Billboard noting, “Dover’s voice is both intimate and commanding on this track,” while MusicRow asserts it confirms “we’re in the presence of a master country talent when this man sings…Make him a star. Now.” He followed the song with “Damn Good Life,” with The Boot sharing, “Dover is savoring every moment in his uplifting new single,” while Country Now observes, “Between the optimistic narrative that Dover delivers through his crisp vocals and the carefree tune highlighted by the impressive guitar strum, nothing but a good time can be had when this song comes through the speakers.”

In addition to a deal with UMG Nashville, Dover has signed with Sony Music Publishing in partnership with Droptine Music Publishing along with United Talent Agency.

    About Dalton Dover
Lauded by MusicRow as a “master country talent,” Dalton Dover’s current single “Giving Up On That” via UMG Nashville/Mercury Records was the most-added track at Country Radio upon its debut with 60 first week adds and garnered over 1 million streams in the first two weeks of its release. Named a Pandora 2023 Artist to Watch, an Amazon Music 2023 Breakthrough Artist to Watch: Country Class and a member of CMT’s LISTEN UP 2023 Class, he will make his international debut in March at C2C: Country to Country Festival’s CMA Songwriters Series before joining Chase Rice on the Way Down Yonder Tour in April. Dover first started singing at church as a kid, winning his fifth-grade school talent show performing Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” In that moment Dover’s love of performing was born. By the age of 16 he had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R veteran and founder of Droptine, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover. His debut track “You Got a Small Town,” produced by McV, quickly garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, MusicRow, Country Now and Wide Open Country. With his debut and his follow-up “Baby I Am” earning notable playlisting, Dover was named a Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch along with a spotlight as Billboard’s February Country Rookie of the Month and a nod for MusicRow’s 2022 Discovery Artist of the Year. After opening for Luke Comb’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium show in Atlanta, Ga., Dover set out on a seven-date run of his own headlining shows, performing across multiple locations of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red, followed by Priscilla Block’s Welcome To The Block Party and his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. Moments before taking the stage at the Grand Ole Opry Friday night (3/3) Mercury Nashville duo Maddie & Tae were surprised with a plaque commemorating their #1 hit song “Die From A Broken Heart” achieving Triple Platinum certification by the RIAA. Written by Maddie & Tae with Jonathan Singleton and Deric Ruttan, the track now stands as the pair’s most-certified song, surpassing sales of 3 million units.

Next up, Maddie & Tae will continue their headlining All Song No Static Tour into Spring 2023, kicking off March 16 in Madison, WI. Following fan demand and numerous sold-out shows in 2022, the pair will take the stage in 12 additional markets for a high-energy set filled with fan-favorite tracks and new music from their 2022 one-two punch projects Through The Madness Vol. 1 and Through The Madness Vol. 2. Award-winning duo Maddie & Tae channel their unbreakable bond, honest songwriting and “some of the tightest harmonies on Music Row” (Rolling Stone) into their new collection of songs Through The Madness Vol. 2, out now. Together as longtime friends and music collaborators, Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr co-wrote each of the project’s tracks, as well as all 8 songs on Through The Madness Vol. 1. The pair drew praise for their No. 1 debuting The Way It Feels album, including the 3X Platinum-certified No. 1 hit, “Die From A Broken Heart.” With “Die From A Broken Heart” topping the country airplay charts, Maddie & Tae became the first and only female twosome with multiple No. 1s.|

The celebrated duo has toured with country music’s hottest stars including Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, and Brad Paisley. Their headlining All Song No Static Tour sold out major markets coast-to-coast in 2022, with additional shows extending through Spring 2023.

Maddie & Tae (reaction to DFABH) OC: …they’re there. :51
“The reaction to ‘Die From A Broken Heart’ was completely unexpected. We didn’t even realize that song was gonna have the life that it is having. It excites me. I can’t even tell you how much it excites me to hear our fans relate to this because it’s so our story and so real and true of what we’ve been through. Like for example, there was a mom that said, ‘My daughter’s going through her first heartbreak, and he wasn’t good for her anyways. She doesn’t realize that now, but that song is getting her through it.’ And that just gives us so much purpose and just like keeps us going just knowing that we’re doing something for people. Just being a Mom and listening to that song, you are right there with your kid, and that’s what the goal is with writing. You want to put people right in that song and make them feel like they’re there.”
