  • BILLY CURRINGTON IS HAPPY TO HAVE A ‘FOOTBALL PROBLEM.’

Billy Currington just released his latest single, “Drinkin’ Town With a Football Problem.” The tune was written by the family group, The Henningsens, who have the same manager as Billy, and thought it would be a great song for the Georgia native.

My manager sent it to me. He was like, ‘Hey man, I’m managing this group and they wrote this song, but they’re not going to record it, and they wanted to send it to you,’” says Billy. “So, I pressed play, and my first thought with this song was like, ‘Wow! This song could for sure be in a commercial for the NFL.’ I mean it’s so perfect. I could hear it playing at stadiums during football games, and I can’t say enough about how happy the song is and how happy it made me feel, when I was recording it and when I was listening to the demo of it.”

“Drinkin’ Town With a Football Problem” is the follow-up to Billy’s 10th No. 1, “Don’t It,” from his new album, Summer Forever.

Billy is currently on the road with Tim McGraw on his Shotgun Rider Tour, which makes its next stop Friday (June 12th) in Mansfield, Massachussetts.

  • BILLY CURRINGTON RELEASES NEW ALBUM, SUMMER FOREVER.

Billy Currington‘s new album, Summer Forever, is now available (Tuesday, June 2nd). Billy’s sixth studio album features his 10th No. 1 single, “Don’t It,” as well as his new single, “Drinkin’ Town With a Football Problem.”

Billy worked with producer Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts) on the 12-song collection, continuing their working relationship which began with his last album, We Are Tonight. The album also includes the heartfelt “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To,” which the Georgia native co-wrote with Cary Barlowe and Shy Carter.

He titled the album after one the songs featured on the record, “partly because it’s my life – summer and sunshine, beach, ocean and all that – and I think some of the songs on the album reflect that, and it just felt like a great title.”

Billy will be playing some of the songs from his new album when he hits the road on Tim McGraw‘s Shotgun Rider Tour, which kicks off Friday, June 4th in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Audio / Billy Currington explains where he came up with the title of the album.

It’s the title of one of the songs on there, and when I was kinda going through the songs, one day it just hit me, like, ‘Man, that would be a perfect title for this album.”

  • BILLY CURRINGTON’S FAVORITE SEASON IS ‘SUMMER.’

Billy Currington is getting ready to release his new album, Summer Forever, featuring his current No. 1 single, “Don’t It.” So, we found out what he really thinks about summer.

“The thing I like most about summer is being warm,” he laughs. “I’m a big fan of not being cold. I grew up in the warmth. I grew up in the sunshine most of the year. We probably had one month of some cool weather down in South Georgia. So, every time summer comes, I think beach, I think lakes, whatever, just being outside.”

When summer came around when Billy was growing up, you could always find him with a surfboard in hand down near the beach. “That’s basically what I did. I lived and breathed the ocean, fortunately because I lived on it, or close to it, and it works for me,” says Billy. “Everything that it has to offer is everything that I am.”

Summer Forever will be available beginning Tuesday (June 2nd).

  • BILLY CURRINGTON SCORES HIS 10TH NO. 1 WITH ‘DON’T IT.’

Billy Currington climbs to the top of both the Country Aircheck and Billboard country charts this week with his single, “Don’t It,” his 10th No. 1 single. The song, written by Jaren Johnston, Ashley Gorley and Ross Copperman, is the first single from his forthcoming album, Summer Forever, available next week (June 2nd).

“‘Don’t It’ – it’s just one of those songs when you first hear it, you’re like, ‘That’s it! That song sounds like a smash, and I’m so thankful that the songwriters sent it to me,’” says the Georgia native.

Billy is getting ready to head out on the Shotgun Rider Tour with Tim McGraw on June 5th in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Audio / Billy Currington talks about recording his No. 1 single, “Don’t It.”

Billy Currington (Don’t It) OC: …did that. :33
“‘Don’t It’ – it’s just one of those songs when you first hear it, you’re like, ‘That’s it! That song sounds like a smash, and I’m so thankful that the songwriters sent it to me.’ Dann Huff worked really hard to get that groove set back in the pocket like it is. It wasn’t something that came in a few minutes of recording. We worked on it, and he got that magical feel to it, and I think that’s one of the main reasons it’s doing so well, ‘cause it’s a shuffle, and it’s hard to get those kind of songs right and get the right tempo and everything about that. And Dann did that.”

  • LADY ANTEBELLUM AND BILLY CURRINGTON TALK ABOUT DAVID LETTERMAN ON THE DAY OF HIS LAST SHOW.

David Letterman ends his 33-year reign as nighttime’s premier talk show hosts on Wednesday (May 20th), and throughout the years, many of your favorite country artists have graced his stage performing their hits.

Lady Antebellum is one of those artists who performed on Letterman’s show a few times. Lady A’s Hillary Scott feels Letterman gave a chance to numerous musicians who might not have had a chance to be heard if not for him. “He’s not afraid to showcase a lot of up and coming artists and the one’s that are a little bit more grass roots a little more underground,” Hillary explains. “I think that’s an amazing thing about him he’s got a lot of variety to his musical tastes, and we’re sad to see him go.”

Lady A’s Charles Kelley remembers how cold it was in the studio. “That’s what I’ll remember from it, it is the coldest, he likes it really cold, so the entire building, I mean you have to wear like a winter jacket in there.”

Billy Currington is another artist who performed on the show, and it was because of a request of the host. In 2010, Billy appeared to sing his hit “People are Crazy,” reportedly one of Letterman’s favorite songs. (check out the clip of the show below – make sure to stay until the end.)

Letterman’s final show will air Wednesday on CBS at 11:30pm ET. Stephen Colbert will take over Letterman’s show this fall, with the first episode airing on September 8th.

Audio / Lady Antebellum were lucky to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman a few times, and each of the members share a memory of the show.

(DAVE) “I love it. That’s what I grew up on. For me, that was the bucket list show. Growing up, I’d sneak up stairs and watch Letterman late at night and see who’s performing.  You’re watching bands like Nirvana, all these cool rock bands and country music artists perform, so definitely one of those buck list moments.” (Charles) “That’s what I’ll remember from it, it is the coldest, he likes it really cold, so the entire building, I mean you have to wear like a winter jacket in there.” (Hillary) “He’s not afraid to showcase a lot of up and coming artists and the one’s that are a little bit more grass roots a little more underground.
