  • DIERKS BENTLEY TOPS THE COUNTRY CHART WITH “BURNING MAN.”

Dierks Bentley earns his 18th No. 1 single with “Burning Man” (featuring Brothers Osborne) today as the fiery-but-reflective track tops the Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts this week. Serving as the second consecutive chart topper from Bentley’s ninth studio album THE MOUNTAIN, “his most affecting song” (Rolling Stone) inspired his 2019 BURNING MAN TOUR that will continue with shows this week in Canada, before returning stateside for the kickoff of the US leg on Thursday (1/31) in Spokane, WA.

“I felt an authentic connection to this song the first time I heard and my attachment to it has only strengthened night after night as I watch our fans connect with it. It is as much their song as it is mine…we all face that push and pull of who we are as people. As always, I’m very grateful to Country Radio for continuing to help share this journey.”

“I’m a huge fan of those guys. They’re friends. We play in a side band together, a ‘90s country cover band called the Hot Country Knights with a K for anyone who wants to look us up,” says Dierks says of John and TJ Osborne. “So, we’re just pals, and it’s like this song feels like something that they would sing, you know? It feels like if they’d got this one before I did, they probably would’ve cut it. It was so easy. I just called ‘em up and sent the song and got a huge ‘Yes’ back from both of them right away. They came into the studio like two days later.”

Dierks continues his Burning Man Tour this week with stops in Kelowna, BC (January 28th) and Vancouver (January 29th), followed by shows in Spokane and Tacoma, Washington, as well as Eugene (Oregon) later this week. He’s joined on the trek by Jon Pardi, Tenille Townes and Hot Country Knights.

  • DIERKS BENTLEY ADDS TV EXECUTIVE PRODUCER TO HIS MANY DUTIES.

Dierks Bentley is a very, very busy man, and he’s always got something new going on in his life and career. Not only is he a singer-songwriter-entertainer, but he’s a bar owner (Whiskey Row) with several locations, a husband, father and so much more. He’s also an Executive Producer of a new Fox TV project he describes as “Cheers meets Nashville” that he hopes gets picked up by the network.

“Looking at the first script, it’s funny. You could see it being on TV. It looks like a really funny show,” says Dierks. “Nashville’s changed so much, and everyone has an idea of what Nashville is, and this kind of goes back, it’s Nashville now, but also it plays off of the Nashville that exists in people’s minds, you know, singers walking down the street with a guitar, busking and moving here to get a dream. That still happens. People move here every day with a guitar hoping to make a dream happen. You don’t see it as much ‘cause the city’s gotten so big, but it still exists. So, this kind of examines this whole side of Nashville. The bar owner, she’s been there for a long time — seen ‘em all come, seen ‘em all go. Nothing fazes her. Kind of rough on the outside, but the inside is a teddy bear; all these characters in the bar, and obviously, there’s gonna be a live music component to it. So, it felt like something that was the right time for me and I could get excited about and have the energy to get fully involved in.”

For Dierks, something really needs to grab his attention and creativity if he’s going to say yes and take time away from his family and his music.

“I think I’ve learned over the years and having kids and being busy this life comes down to a really big YES or it’s just a no. Unless something’s a really big YES, you just say no, and it just helps simplifies all of your answers,” he says. “I’ve been presented with a lot of reality TV opportunities and commercials and stuff, and through that basis of yes and no and searching for the big YES in life, I’ve been able to make those decisions pretty clearly, usually no. But this came along, and I love the idea of it. It’s kind of like Cheers TV show meets Nashville. What I saw initially was so funny, and Executive Producer is a great role for me because I don’t have to be on camera and I don’t have to go to L.A. every weekend.”

In addition, CMT’s Cody Alan reports Dierks may also be at the helm of a reality television show based on his feisty ’90s cover band, Hot Country Knights.

Dierks is poised to enter the top of the country charts with his latest hit, “Burning Man,” featuring Brothers Osborne.

The Arizona native is also headlining his current Burning Man Tour, which makes stops in Edmonton (January 24th), Calgary (January 26th), Kelowna (January 28th) and Vancouver (January 29th).

Audio / Dierks Bentley says it takes a lot for him to say yes to a project, but after reading the initial premise of a potential television show, he was definitely in as an Executive Producer.

I’m all in.” I’m really heavily involved working with Jack [Burditt]. He’s a great writer. This guy’s hilarious. I’m learning so much from him. I just tell him I’m here to assist in any way possible.”

  • DIERKS BENTLEY WENT “NUTS” OVER HEARING JON PARDI FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Dierks Bentley is gearing up for his Burning Man Tour 2019, which kicks off Thursday (January 17th) in Hamilton, Ontario. He’s taking pal Jon Pardi along for the ride for the third time, and Dierks recalls he was “nuts” over hearing Jon perform for the first time nearly 10 years ago.

“The first time I heard Jon I was sitting on my bus, we were playing a show out in California somewhere, kind of a random gig, and I heard this voice and I heard the band. I hear a lot of music over the course of a year on the road, and there’s just that one small thing that makes something stand out to you. I remember hearing it on my bus, through the walls of my bus, we were pretty far from the stage, and going, ‘Okay, there’s something really cool going on,’” says Dierks. “I got off the bus and went down there and watched this guy, and he was brand new. He had a steel guitar player that had a pet squirrel that lived inside his shirt. You can’t make this stuff up. I mean, it was a rogue band. It was early on, and this guy he’s out there just slaying it, slinging these words out there and playing telecaster. I was like, ‘This guy is going to be someone.’ I called my booking agent Jay Williams and said, ‘This guy’s great, man,’ and this is probably 10 years ago.”

Newcomer Tenille Townes will also be on the road with Dierks and Jon.

Dierks is sitting inside the Top 5 on the country charts with his current hit, “Burning Man,” featuring Brothers Osborne.

  • DIERKS BENTLEY IS READY TO “PARDI” ON HIS NEW BURNING MAN TOUR.

Dierks Bentley is gearing up for his Burning Man Tour 2019, which kicks off next week (January 17th) in Hamilton, Ontario. He’s taking pal Jon Pardi along for the ride for the third time, and Dierks couldn’t be happier to have him out with him on tour.

“Every time I have Jon Pardi on the road, I want him to come back out again. He came out with us, me, Cole Swindell and it was Jon, that was a couple of years ago, and I thought, ‘Man, it’ll be great to get Jon one more time in the direct support position; that middle slot,’” says Dierks. “About April of last year, I started looking, I called Jon up and said, ‘Hey! I’d love to make this happen. Let’s see if we can make it happen.’ I think this’ll be the last time he’ll open up for anybody, because he’s ready to do his thing full-time. But so glad I have him back out for one more ride. We have so much fun together. I love his show. Going on after Jon is so ideal because he’s just so great at getting the crowd fired up. Everyone’s having a good time. He’s so charismatic, great songs, obviously great singer, and he’s just a great hang backstage. [He’s] one of my best friends in the business.

Newcomer Tenille Townes  and the incredible ’90s country cover band, Hot Country Nights, will also be on the road with Dierks and Jon.

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

“Greasy food is always kind of a, you can let it go for one day before you start all your resolutions [laughs] after that. So, that’s probably my best hangover cure.”

“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Dierks Bentley (New Year’s) OC: …in stride. 1:11
“New Year’s is rough. New Year’s hurts no matter what’s going o n. I’ve played a lot of New Year’s shows, you know, but I’ve honestly found that it’s not my favorite night to throw down. Look, for a living, that’s what I do. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, I host a big party; not only on stage, but I’ve got friends backstage. It starts before the concert sometimes, [and] it goes long after the concert, so a lot of times on New Year’s, I’m looking for a really mellow hang – a good party, good friends, pretty chill. Some of my best New Year’s – it doesn’t make for great radio – but some of my best New Year’s have been just like actually hearing fireworks go off while I’m in bed, [laughs] and know I’m gonna wake up the next morning for the first day of the New Year feeling great, feeling recharged and I’m ready to go ad go into the New Year feeling good as opposed to going into it with a giant Jagerbomb hangover, which I’ve done many, many times. So, the goal this year is to go into it feeling pretty good and the kids help with that, because you really just don’t want to be hungover with children. It’s not a good feeling. You would probably admit to any crime to get them, just feel better, and get them leave you alone. So, [I’m] gonna try to hit New Year’s this year in stride.”

“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

Jon Pardi (hangover cure) OC: …deal with it. :20
“My hangover cure is Bloody Marys, but be careful – because once you have a couple, don’t go to beer, because if you go to beer, you’re gonna start drinking again and you’ll end up a morning drunk. OR if you want to go the non-alcoholic route, there’s nothing you can do for hangovers. [laughs] You just go deal with it.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves has her own hangover cure.

Kacey Musgraves (hangover cure) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese fuh. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

“My best New Year’s Eve is definitely when my wife and I started back dating. We started back dating right before Christmas, and we went on a trip down to Florida and met some friends. And her birthday is New Year’s Eve. We celebrated it that night. It was just a great night.”

Travis Denning (favorite New Year’s Eve party) OC: …it was good. :41
“I think my favorite New Year’s Eve party ever was when my sister got married, and my sister’s party got done at 10:30, 10:45 and she got married right behind a little club that I played a lot in Macon, Georgia called the Crazy Bull and love the owner. We’re boys, you know? So, we just literally walked right over and burned the house down. That was one of my favorite New Year’s Eve memories, ‘cause I got to see my sister and brother-in-law get married and that was such a great, great time, and then me and my older cousin and best friend, we ended up at Waffle House that night, so it was good.”

“You know, I think my hangover cure is just sitting on my butt, [laughs] not doing anything. Drink some water, a cup of coffee, but usually anything greasy or just some big ole Mexican food that’ll get me at least to a nap, which will get me better.”
