• LITTLE BIG TOWN’S ‘GIRL CRUSH’ BRINGS THE GREEN-EYED MONSTER TO THE SURFACE.

Little Big Town’s latest single, “Girl Crush,” is racing up the country charts, but there’s been a little confusion on the part of a few folks about the actual theme of the song. If you listen to the lyrics, you’ll see it’s just about good old-fashioned jealousy.

“The lyric of ‘Girl Crush’ is written in a kind of sexy way, so some people might turn it off when they get to ‘I wanna taste your lips’ and all that, but once they get to the hook, they go, ‘Oh! It turns,’” says LBT’s Karen Fairchild. “It’s about a girl saying, ‘Why do you love her and not me?’ And that’s what makes it. You’ve got to lean in a little bit, but the fans are really loving this one.”

The reigning CMA and ACM Vocal Group of the Year will embark on the new leg of their Pain Killer Tour March 5th in Savannah, Georgia with Chris Stapleton. First, they’ll head across the pond to do a few shows in the U-K beginning February 10th in London.

Audio / Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild says the band’s latest smash hit, “Girl Crush,” is about jealousy, pure and simple.

Audio / Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet talks about his hopes for Pain Killer.

LBT (hopes for Pain Killer) 2 OC: …test of time. :24
PHILLIP: “Winning awards and having success, commercial success with Tornado, I think, gave us a bigger platform, and for me, I hope that platform – I’m really proud that we made Painkiller, because it’s the best thing we’ve ever done and that we have a platform to share it on is amazing. So, I think we wanted to step up to the challenge and know there’s a great platform here, what are we going to put on it? And we wanted something to stand the test of time.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves is passionate about her song, “Follow Your Arrow.”

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (Follow Your Arrow) 2 OC: …accepting other people. :43
“I get like fired up when I talk about this song, because it’s so fun to play and it’s always interesting. I’m always wary whenever I play it a little bit because it does push some buttons, but people young and old seem to get a kick out of it and just appreciate that fact that like I’m showing love to people who don’t usually get that in our genre. And, too, it’s just funny because no matter what side of the coin you’re on, gay, straight, left, right, black, white, anything, I mean there’s always going to be an opposing opinion so it doesn’t matter. Like society is going to have an opinion either way. You’re never going to make society happy completely. I mean if you’re too fat, then you need to lose weight, but if you lose too much weight, then oh, she’s on crack. It’s just about being who are and accepting other people.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says his ACM-nominated album Riser is a snapshot of his life at the moment.

    Download

Dierks Bentley (Riser snapshot) OC: …decided for me. :45
“I think every record I’ve made has always been a little bit of a Polaroid snapshot of where I was at that place and time when I made it. This particular album just has a lot of scenery in the picture. I mean there’s a lot that’s gone on in the last two years, more so than any other time in my life. You look at some of the bookends of the making of this record – my Dad passing away at the start of the process and then my son Knox being born at the end of the process. It was unexpected…when I made this record I just wanted to have the best songs. I wasn’t sure what they were going to be about, but I wanted them to be the best. I wanted to write my best songs, I wanted to write a lot of songs. I wanted to listen to a lot of outside songs and find the best songs that I could for whatever I was going to write about, but I wasn’t sure what it was gonna be, and then life came along and decided for me.”

Audio / Eric Church says the story of his ACM-nominated “Give Me Back My Hometown,’ appeals to him as a songwriter.

    Download

Eric Church (Give Me Back My Hometown) OC: …songwriter. :41
“I love that it’s about ‘Give Me Back My Hometown,’ but it’s about a guy that’s still in his hometown. He’s in the most familiar place, the place he knows better than anything, but because his female lover left him there, all those places that he knows so well, become so haunting and foreign to him. The loneliness and sadness of it, it’s one of the sadder songs we’ve ever done. To be at the place that you grow up at that is your home, and the person that left you there took that from you, there’s nothing lonelier than that. So, I love that dichotomy of ‘Give Me Back My Hometown,’ when the person’s in it, they’re standing in it, and that appealed to me as a songwriter.”

Audio / Luke Bryan talks about one of his favorite songs on the album, “Drink a Beer.”

    Download

Luke Bryan (Drink a Beer) OC: …the album. :50
“‘Drink a Beer’ is the best way I can describe it is — it’s the coolest sad song I’ve ever heard.  It’s the saddest sad song you’ve ever heard but it’s like it could be played at any really environment and you’re not going to tank the mood. You’re just going to make people reflect and the perfect way you’re going to make them revert back to somebody that they lost, whether it’s their granddad that they used to sit on a boat and drink a beer with. It’s whoever in your life that you’ve lost that you would have shared a beer with, and I think it’s just a perfectly written sad song, and it’s one of those that I’m honored that it found its way to me and I’m honored that it can be on the album.”

We are excited to help support local food banks and are eager to defeat hunger throughout the U.S.”

Audio / Canaan Smith always has a good time watching the Super Bowl.

Canaan Smith (Super Bowl) OC: …It’s cool. :21
“Super Bowl’s all about pizza and commercials. You gotta sit down, you gotta drink your beer, get a little buzz. It’s pepperoni and banana peppers for me and my family. We sit down, we have a a good time, we have friends over. We have a nice TV, plenty of space. We have a good time. Usually, when it’s all said and done, we have a little dance party afterwards too. It’s cool.”

Audio / Darius Rucker is a HUGE football fan, as everyone probably knows by now. He even has a special man cave with probably six or seven (or more) televisions mounted on the wall to catch all of the games being played during the season. He explains why he loves football so much. SIDENOTE: He’s a huge Miami Dolphins fan, and word has it, just to be able to meet then Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, he asked him to be in a Hootie & the Blowfish video for “Only Wanna Be With You.”

“Ever since I was five years old, I’ve loved football, and I love how physical it is. I love the chess match of the game. I love the speed of the game. I love college football, but for me watching pro football is better because the speed is so much more. For me, there’s two times a year, man — football season and waiting for football season.”

Audio / Easton Corbin says you can’t go on the bus during football season without a game being on the television.

Audio / The members of Lady Antebellum reveal their favorite tailgate foods, just in time for the Big Game.

HILLARY: “Honestly, chips and salsa, salsa or cheese dip or something. That’s like what I always go for. I could eat that every meal. No joke.” DAVE: “Best tailgate food is a big ole burger soaked in Dale’s sauce. That’s all you need.” HILLARY: “Or bratwurst. I forgot that. Those are good.” CHARLES: “Cold beer! A couple of little finger foods, but without cold beer, it’s not football watching.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s beautiful and talented Karen Fairchild was a badass growing up when she was playing quarterback for her powder puff football team.

    Download

LBT (football story) OC: …my lip. :40
“I was the quarterback to my powder puff team. I was running the ball and I came around the corner – this was in high school – and a foreign exchange student, I think her name was Inga (KIMBERLY: “Inga.”), and I didn’t want to fumble ‘cause my brother and my dad were there, and I come from this very athletic family, so I held onto the ball. I knew I was going to go down, so I let my head hit first and I bit all the way through, but I didn’t fumble and I had a hole in my face, though. The sad thing is that it was just flag football, but I left my flags on and cleats and everything, ‘cause it looked cool, and I had blood running all down my jersey. I went to the emergency room like that, and they sewed up my lip.”

Audio / Luke Bryan gives his pick for this year’s Big Game matchup between Seattle and New England. Luke Bryan (Super Bowl food) OC: …over again. :22 “Definitely Super Bowl is like the queso, the Frito Lay scoops with the Ro-tel situation. I guess it’s like, what’s the black-eyed pea stuff too? All of that, just stuff that you can sit there and have lots of sodium, and then just, it’s like Thanksgiving all over again.” Former UAB quarterback Sam Hunt talks about his thoughts on this year’s Super Bowl matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

Luke Bryan (Super Bowl 2015) OC: …love ya! :26
“My thoughts on the Super Bowl – I am, hmmmm, that’s a toughie. Patriots and Seattle – I’m completely neutral. I’m gonna sit back and enjoy the Super Bowl, kind of lean to the Patriots a little bit, ‘cause I’m East Coast. Seattle’s way out there, but I love Seattle, so don’t take it personally. Love ya!”

Sam Hunt (Super Bowl 2015) OC: …pick a team. :46
“I don’t have a die-hard team, but when it comes to playoff time, Super Bowl time, I definitely come in and get caught up in that whole world. I was pulling for (Green Bay Packers Quarterback) Aaron Rodgers, and especially after he hurt his leg, I thought it would be really cool for him overcome that. So close. He’s such a phenomenal quarterback. He did a really great job. But all of the quarterbacks at this point are gonna be at the top of their game, and it’s hard not to be a fan of any of them – anybody who’s that talented at that level at anything. I was pulling for Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay, but now that the Super Bowl’s here, I don’t know. I’m gonna have to kind of educate myself on the seasons that each one of them has had, see who I feel like deserves it most and pick a team.”

“My favorite holiday tradition is, it’s happened very year that I can remember that I’ve been alive. We would go over to my grandmother’s house and have Christmas over there, and everybody would come home to Mama and Daddy’s house. We’d sit down and Mama hands out everybody a gift, and we act like we don’t what it is, but we do ’cause it’s always Christmas pajamas. So, everybody opens their Christmas pajamas and goes and puts ’em on, and we come back to the living room and we sit around Daddy and he reads The Christmas Story. And we tuck ourselves in until Santa comes.”

Little Big Town’s “Pontoon” has been called “the hit of the summer,” and may be linked to the spike in sales of pontoon boats. The response from the Top 5 song – written by Natalie Hemby, Luke Laird and Barry Dean – has been overwhelming for the band as they’ve made their way across the country as part of Rascal FlattsChanged tour. “Now, for the first time we don’t have to say a word,” says LBT’s Phillip Sweet. “We just have to start the song and the crowd immediately knows what it is – that’s started happening, so it’s been so fun to see that.” Bandmate Kimberly Schlapman agrees, especially after the opening notes of the song. “They go crazy! It’s so fun.”

“Pontoon” is the first single from the band’s forthcoming album, Tornado, available September 11th.

We just have to start the song and the crowd immediately knows what it is – that’s started happening, so it’s been so fun to see that.” KIMBERLY: “Yeah, right after erh, erh, erh, erh, erh, whaaa-o, they go crazy! It’s so fun, so fun.”

  • LITTLE BIG TOWN’S ‘TORNADO’ HOLDS AT NO. 1 FOR FOURTH WEEK IN A ROW. (AUDIO)

Little Big Town’s Tornado spends a fourth week atop the Country Albums chart. The album sold another 31,000 copies to hold the top spot on the Country chart, and moves up one notch to No. 8 on the overall Billboard 200. Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away is No. 2 on the country chart, followed by Luke Bryan’s tailgates & tanlines at No. 3. Hunter Hayes self-titled debut album and Eric Church’s Chief round out the Top 5.

Little Big Town’s latest single, “Tornado,” is flying up the charts.

“It’s felt like a change in the air for the band. You know, there’s that reference in the song, ‘Tornado’ — change of weather — and it’s kind of felt that way for us. We’ve had an amazing journey as a band, but this has felt like a new day and it’s akin to a storm in a really cool way. It’s been overwhelming and outrageous and we just thought, ‘Tornado.’ I mean, that fits how we feel, what it feels like in the air around this band right now.”

  • LITTLE BIG TOWN SCORE FIRST NO. 1 SINGLE, ‘PONTOON!’ (AUDIO)

Little Big Town are celebrating their very first No. 1 single this week, as “Pontoon” hits the top of both the Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Billboard country singles charts. The song, the first release from their new album Tornado, was just certified platinum by the R.I.A.A. last week for more than one-million downloads (their first platinum-selling single). The track – written by Natalie Hemby, Luke Laird and Barry Dean — is their fastest selling-single to date and has spent four weeks as a No. 1 country digital download, as well as topping the country chart in Canada just last week.

“Pontoon” is being called the “song of the summer,” and LBT’s Phillip Sweet would have to agree with that assessment. “It’s just fun,” he says. “It feels like summer, and it feels exactly what it sounds like. I grew up on pontoon boats in the summer on the lakes and just having a blast, so it’s good ole clean summertime fun.”

During their 13-year-plus career, Little Big Town has sold more than 1.5 million records, racked up numerous Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations and enjoyed a handful of Top 10 country hits (“Boondocks” and “Bring It On Home” from their platinum 2005 album The Road to Here, and “Little White Church” from their acclaimed 2010 release, The Reason Why).

Little Big Town’s preparing for the release of their highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Tornado, set for release September 11th, with coast-to-coast television appearances, including ABC’s Good Morning America (September 10th) and a performance during the premiere week of The Ellen DeGeneres Show (September 13th). The band will perform on the upcoming ABC Television Special CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL: COUNTRY’S NIGHT TO ROCK (September 17th) and will also be featured on CMT’s Unplugged Series which will premiere on CMT.com September 11th and on CMT September 18th.
