• SUPER BOWL 2016: Canaan, Darius, Easton, Lady A, LBT, Lady A

This Sunday (February 7th), millions of people around the world will be tuning in to the Super Bowl (the Big Game), including some of your favorite country artists. Some will be rooting for the Denver Broncos, while others will be pulling for the Carolina Panthers to win the Big Game. Canaan Smith, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Easton Corbin and Little Big Town are definitely fans of football.

Sam Hunt will perform at the annual tailgate party preceding Sunday’s game, along with pop star Seal.

Audio / Canaan Smith always has a good time watching the Super Bowl.

Canaan Smith (Super Bowl) OC: …It’s cool. :21
“Super Bowl’s all about pizza and commercials. You gotta sit down, you gotta drink your beer, get a little buzz. It’s pepperoni and banana peppers for me and my family. We sit down, we have a a good time, we have friends over. We have a nice TV, plenty of space. We have a good time. Usually, when it’s all said and done, we have a little dance party afterwards too. It’s cool.”

Audio / Darius Rucker is a HUGE football fan, as everyone probably knows by now. He even has a special man cave with probably six or seven (or more) televisions mounted on the wall to catch all of the games being played during the season. He explains why he loves football so much. SIDENOTE: He’s a huge Miami Dolphins fan, and word has it, just to be able to meet then Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, he asked him to be in a Hootie & the Blowfish video for “Only Wanna Be With You.”

Darius Rucker (football) OC: …football season. :20
“Ever since I was five years old, I’ve loved football, and I love how physical it is. I love the chess match of the game. I love the speed of the game. I love college football, but for me watching pro football is better because the speed is so much more. For me, there’s two times a year, man — football season and waiting for football season.”

Audio / Easton Corbin says you can’t go on the bus during football season without a game being on the television.

    Download

Easton Corbin (football) OC: …that’s on. :07
“That’s all that’s on the bus on the weekends. That’s it, and we’ve got three TVs on the bus, so that’s all that’s on.”

Audio / The members of Lady Antebellum reveal their favorite tailgate foods, just in time for the Big Game.

    Download

Lady A (tailgate food) OC: (Charles) …football watching. :21
HILLARY: “Honestly, chips and salsa, salsa or cheese dip or something. That’s like what I always go for. I could eat that every meal. No joke.” DAVE: “Best tailgate food is a big ole burger soaked in Dale’s sauce. That’s all you need.” HILLARY: “Or bratwurst. I forgot that. Those are good.” CHARLES: “Cold beer! A couple of little finger foods, but without cold beer, it’s not football watching.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s beautiful and talented Karen Fairchild was a badass growing up when she was playing quarterback for her powder puff football team.

    Download

LBT (football story) OC: …my lip. :40
“I was the quarterback to my powder puff team. I was running the ball and I came around the corner – this was in high school – and a foreign exchange student, I think her name was Inga (KIMBERLY: “Inga.”), and I didn’t want to fumble ‘cause my brother and my dad were there, and I come from this very athletic family, so I held onto the ball. I knew I was going to go down, so I let my head hit first and I bit all the way through, but I didn’t fumble and I had a hole in my face, though. The sad thing is that it was just flag football, but I left my flags on and cleats and everything, ‘cause it looked cool, and I had blood running all down my jersey. I went to the emergency room like that, and they sewed up my lip.”

Audio / Luke Bryan talks about some of the food he likes to have while watching the Super Bowl.

    Download

Luke Bryan (Super Bowl food) OC: …over again. :22
“Definitely Super Bowl is like the queso, the Frito Lay scoops with the Ro-tel situation. I guess it’s like, what’s the black-eyed pea stuff too? All of that, just stuff that you can sit there and have lots of sodium, and then just, it’s like Thanksgiving all over again.”

  • KEITH URBAN AND VINCE GILL ANNOUNCE THE SPECIAL GUESTS AT THIS YEAR’S ALL FOR THE HALL.

Keith Urban and Vince Gill have announced their sixth annual All for the Hall, a benefit concert for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The two will headline the event, which will take place April 12th at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

The show’s theme is Mashville: The Music City in 2016, and it’ll feature performances by the show’s headliners, as well as Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Florida Georgia Line, Peter Frampton, Jason Isbell, Emmylou Harris, Maddie and Tae and Maren Morris.

Nashville has become a dynamic and diverse musical melting pot,” Keith said about this year’s theme in a prepared statement. “While it remains the home of country music, an unbelievably talented community of songwriters, producers, instrumentalists, singers, bands and solo artists are rapidly changing the entire musical landscape in Music City, U.S.A.”

Audio / Keith Urban says the one challenge of his All for the Hall concert benefitting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is who he’s going to invite to perform during the show.

Keith Urban (All 4 the Hall) OC: …over the years. :50
“It’s a labor of love in the best way. It really is. If I said there’s only one challenge with it, it’s condensing the guest list. It was, right from the beginning, it was like trying to put a wedding list together and which family member to invite. You have to either invite everybody or elope, right? But we’ve only got limited time and it’s very, very hard to have certain people who are very good friends of mine say, ‘What the…? What the…? Waiting for the call. Nothing.’ So, I thought how do I get around this problem? And then the idea of themes came up so at least there’s some type of criteria for me to put a guest list together. Otherwise, this show would be days and days long if I invited everybody I wanted. We get to do it every year, so I have a huge list of people I want to be able to invite over the years.”

  • LITTLE BIG TOWN’S KAREN FAIRCHILD COULDN’T SAY NO TO LUKE BRYAN.

Luke Bryan asked Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild to sing on his latest smash hit, “Home Alone Tonight,” and she immediately said yes to the offer.

“Any chance to sing with Luke Bryan, I mean, who’s gonna say no to that,” Karen asks. “He’s so freaking adorable and fun. It’s such a great song, and I was just honored that he thought of me and I love the way our voices sound together. It’s kind of a sexy slow jam.”

The two will most likely perform the duet when they hit the road on Luke’s Kill the Lights Tour, which will launch in Evansville, Indiana February 16th, and Karen is looking forward to the opportunity. “I can’t wait to sing it out in front of his crowd. That’s going to be amazing.” Dustin Lynch is also on the bill.

“Home Alone Tonight,” which is currently sitting inside the Top 10 on the country charts, is from Luke’s latest album, Kill the Lights.

Little Big Town is climbing the country charts with their latest single, “Pain Killer.”

  • NEW YEAR’S 2015: Brothers O, Canaan, Chris, Clare, Dierks, Eric, Kacey, Kip, LBT, Luke

What are some of your favorite stars doing to welcome in the New Year? Many of them are working to help fans celebrate. Several artists have taken the time off around the holidays and will hit it hard when they return to the road in January. Some artists have resolutions and some are very helpful with their own hangover cures for those who imbibe too much on New Year’s Eve.

Chris Stapleton is set to entertain folks who are in Music City on New Year’s Eve. He’ll perform downtown as part of the Jack Daniels Bash. Kings of Leon and Kelsea Ballerini are also on the bill.

Little Big Town will ring in the New Year at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Audio / John and TJ of Brothers Osborne talk about how people spend the last moments of the year, and the first moments of the new year.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

Audio / Canaan Smith says there’s really no cure for a hangover.

    Download

Canaan Smith (no hangover cure) OC: …long, you know? :32
“There is no hangover cure. The older I get I’m like, ‘Oh God! What am I thinking?’ It’s terrible. Hangovers are awful. Tequila’s the worst. I try to stay away from Tequila, because it hurts me bad. I used to be a whiskey guy. I still am every now and then, but of late, I’m domestic, American beer, just something light and tasty. Shots are my worst enemy. When I start working shots into the picture, that’s when I know I’m gonna hurt the next morning. I just try to keep it the same, whether it’s whiskey or beer or whatever, I just stick with that same drink the whole night long, you know?”

Audio / Clare Dunn suggests a good hangover cure.

    Download

Clare Dunn (hangover cure) OC: …hangover cure. :10
“Greasy food is always kind of a, you can let it go for one day before you start all your resolutions [laughs] after that. So, that’s probably my best hangover cure.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says there’s not really a cure for a hangover.

    Download

Dierks (NYE) OC: …for that. :10
“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Audio / Eric Church has a couple of hangover cures for those times (especially on New Year’s Eve) when you might imbibe a little too much.

    Download

Eric Church (hangover cure) OC: …every time. :17
“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves, who begins a three-night stand with the ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas beginning December 29th and running through New Year’s Eve (December 31st), has her own hangover cure.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (NYE) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese fuh. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

Audio / Kip Moore gives advice on how to avoid a hangover on New Year’s Eve.

    Download

Kip Moore (avoiding hangovers on NYE) OC: …yourself. :03
“Pace yourself on New Year’s – that’s the remedy. Pace yourself.”

Audio / Luke Bryan will perform as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC, which will certainly be one of his best New Year’s Eves…however, his favorite has to be when he and his now wife Caroline reunited.

    Download

Luke Bryan (New Years-best) OC: …great night. :17
“My best New Year’s Eve is definitely when my wife and I started back dating. We started back dating right before Christmas, and we went on a trip down to Florida and met some friends. And her birthday is New Year’s Eve. We celebrated it that night. It was just a great night.”
