• BREAKOUT COUNTRY HITMAKER JOSH ROSS ANNOUNCES NEW EP, COMPLICATED, AVAILABLE MARCH 29th.

Today, breakout country singer-songwriter Josh Ross announces the forthcoming release of his anticipated EP, Complicated, arriving March 29. Produced by frequent collaborator Matt Geroux (“Trouble,” “Red Flags,” “On A Different Night”), Complicated is an eight-song collection representing the last couple years of Ross’ life, showcasing a next generation talent who pairs heart-on-his-sleeve storytelling with a modern country-rock edge.

Reflecting on the project, Ross shares, “Finally! I’m stoked to announce a body of work that showcases lyrically who I am as a person, and me sonically as a creative. Like a lot of country fans, I listen to all types of music. I am drawn to different sounds and production depending on what the emotion of the song calls for, and I think that comes across in this EP. Complicated represents who I’m becoming as an artist, and I’m excited for y’all to hear it March 29th.”

The EP is preceded with today’s release of his revealing piano ballad, “Matching Tattoos.” Laced with real-life detail, Ross co-wrote the track with Joe Fox, Mason Thornley, and Brad Rempel. “Matching Tattoos” follows his recent two-song pack “Single Again” and “Truck Girl”

    PRE-SAVE COMPLICATED EP HERE

Ross’ lyricism delivers an emotional honesty as he sings, “I wonder where you are now / Sometimes I still think of how / We said something bout forever / but what’s that mean at 22? / Cause all that lasted are some matching tattoos.”

Of the track, Ross shares, “‘Matching Tattoos’ is very personal to me. It is a song that comes from a real experience I went through a few years ago. I wrote this song on the Nickelback tour this past year and I hope y’all can connect to the emotion of the song as much as I do.”

Complicated marks only the beginning of what is set to be a banner year for Ross, who has been named an artist to watch by Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, MusicRow and more. He is currently on his sold-out headlining ‘The Trouble Tour’ across Canada, and supporting Bailey Zimmerman’s ‘Religiously. The Tour.’ He will take the stage at high-profile festivals including Stagecoach and Country Thunder, and was recently tapped to join Luke Bryan’s ‘Mind Of A Country Boy Tour’ for select dates this summer. For tickets and a full list of tour dates, please visit www.joshrossmusic.com/#tour.

With more than 307 million global streams, Ross continues to carve out his place in Country music on both sides of the border. 2023 was marked by “Trouble” hitting No. 1 on Canadian country radio while achieving Platinum certification and led to his ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ win at the Canadian Country Music Awards.  For the latest information and to learn how to join his fan club, The Roster, for first access to merch drops, new music and exclusive content, visit www.joshrossmusic.com.

So, Sonic Drive-In has partnered with the Queen of Country on a new combo meal, Reba’s Sweetheart Meal, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The special meal will be available beginning Monday (February 12th) at participating restaurants. That started my nickname, ‘Tater Tot.’ My little sister, Susie, gave Rex the name ‘Sugar Tot.’ So now, we’re The Tots! Sugar and Tater. We both love tots, especially at SONIC! They are our absolute favorite. We even spent our most memorable Valentine’s Day dinner at SONIC and will do the same this year. • BREAKOUT COUNTRY HITMAKER JOSH ROSS RELEASES TWO-SONG PACK “SINGLE AGAIN” AND “TRUCK GIRL,” OUT NOW.

Breakout country singer-songwriter Josh Ross sets the tone for 2024 with the release of two compelling tracks, “Single Again” and “Truck Girl,” available today. Weaving his personal narrative into relatable lyrics, the songs showcase Ross’ own journey in life and music. Both tracks were produced by frequent collaborator, Matt Geroux, who produced Ross’ previous releases including “Trouble,” “Red Flags,” “First Taste of Gone,” and “On A Different Night.”

Listen to “Single Again” and “Truck Girl” HERE

“I wanted to kick off 2024 with two songs that I feel highlight the two different sides of me as a person,” shares Ross. “These songs are based on real-life situations I feel people can relate to as well as personal experiences I’ve had.”

“Single Again” explores a specific moment in time, with Ross sharing a personal anecdote of an unexpected encounter. “‘Single Again’ leans into how timing can sometimes be everything. I ran into my high school crush at a bar and wanted to buy her a drink. She let me know she had a boyfriend and I remember saying ‘well let me know if you’re ever single again’.”

“Truck Girl” delves into the intense feelings associated with a love lost. Ross reflects on the song, “’Truck Girl’ is about realizing and processing the raw emotion that comes from having that person you thought could be your forever, walk away for good.”

These releases offer a glimpse into forthcoming music, and Ross is eager to connect with fans and bring his fresh sound both on and off stage, “I’m stoked to share these two songs with a promise for lots of new music this year.”

Recently named one of MusicRow’s Next Big Thing artists for 2024, Ross will kick off his debut headline tour across Canada, THE TROUBLE TOUR, this weekend. With more than 266 million streams worldwide, Ross continues to carve out his place in Country music on both sides of the border.

  • JOSH ROSS IS BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR HIS MUSIC.

Ontario native Josh Ross had a big year in 2023, and as he reflects back over the year, the main thing he realizes is that he grew his fan base exponentially.

“I think just building a really good fan base,” says Josh. “Just seeing that we really have built a fan base that is foundational and really exciting, and then on top of that, I feel like I’ve built a really great team and management and label partners and everybody that is very excited for what I’ve got to come in the future. Obviously, moments like playing the Opry was incredible and having all of my family and friends there and being on the Nickelback tour, but definitely, just honestly, seeing what the music has done with fans this year would be to me what stood out the most.”

For this year (2024), Josh wants to continue growing his fan base and having people get to know him better. “I’m still, I believe, in the early stages of, you know, the new artist thing and let people get to know me,” he says. “And I just look forward to kind of taking people on the journey of like this is where I was when I started songwriting, and this is the first song I wrote and then this is when I went through this phase. I think a lot of people can kind of go on that rollercoaster with me of okay, this is a really fun song and we’re partying to this on a Friday, and then now we’re emotional and going through stuff on a Tuesday. That’s just me as a person, and my mom’s always joked that I’m a Gemini and I try to bring that into my shows – there’s two different sides to the emotions and yeah, just give everybody a packed full show of different stuff.”

After a short holiday break, the reigning CCMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year, who has been working on new music, will hit the road on his Trouble Tour beginning January 12th in Winnipeg, Ontario. In-between headlining shows, he’ll join Bailey Zimmerman on his Religiously-The Tour starting February 1st.

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

Dierks Bentley (New Year’s) OC: …in stride. 1:11
“New Year’s is rough. New Year’s hurts no matter what’s going on. I’ve played a lot of New Year’s shows, you know, but I’ve honestly found that it’s not my favorite night to throw down. Look, for a living, that’s what I do. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, I host a big party; not only on stage, but I’ve got friends backstage. It starts before the concert sometimes, [and] it goes long after the concert, so a lot of times on New Year’s, I’m looking for a really mellow hang – a good party, good friends, pretty chill. Some of my best New Year’s – it doesn’t make for great radio – but some of my best New Years have been just like actually hearing fireworks go off while I’m in bed, [laughs] and know I’m gonna wake up the next morning for the first day of the New Year feeling great, feeling recharged and I’m ready to go ad go into the New Year feeling good as opposed to going into it with a giant Jagerbomb hangover, which I’ve done many, many times. So, the goal this year is to go into it feeling pretty good and the kids help with that, because you really just don’t want to be hungover with children. It’s not a good feeling. You would probably admit to any crime to get them, just feel better, and get them leave you alone. So, [I’m] gonna try to hit New Year’s this year in stride.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says there’s not really a cure for a hangover.

Dierks (NYE) OC: …for that. :10
“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Audio / Eric Church has a couple of hangover cures for those times (especially on New Year’s Eve) when you might imbibe a little too much.

Eric Church (hangover cure) OC: …every time. :17
“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

Audio / Josh Ross talks about performing on New Year's Eve this year.

Josh Ross (playing New Year’s Eve 2023) OC: …worth it. :33
“You know, obviously just the energy around it being a new year and new goals and it’s my refresh for the year, and, but it’ll I get to kind of start my refresh right at the very first moment of time, so I’m really looking forward to that. It honestly reminds me of when I came to Nashville which is really cool. I remember I got to watch Keith Urban play in 2017 on New Year’s here in Nashville, and I thought how cool would it be to be an artist that gets to bring in the year for people and play, and I get to do that this year, which is real exciting, up in Edmonton, Canada. But it’s gonna be good. It’ll probably be minus-25 (degrees) and freezing cold, but it’ll definitely be worth it.”

Audio / Josh Ross gives his best hangover cures.

Josh Ross (hangover cure) OC: …for the day. :37
“Best hangover cure—I think it’s depending on what I have to do that day or the next day. But yeah, there’s definitely two. There’s my old approach, which was the football approach when I played college football, was we used to have Sunday morning rundown and no matter how much fun you had on Saturday night, you had to be at the field at 8 or 9am and we used to have to jog around the track. Running or doing some type activity is one of the best cures. As I’ve gotten lazier, I would maybe say, sometimes just having water, having liquid IV or sometimes my grandma’s old trick of the hair of the dog is a real thing and kind of just help level you out for the day.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves has her own hangover cure.

Kacey Musgraves (hangover cure) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese pho. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

It’s some of the final shows, and we got tons of friends coming out – all of her college friends, some friends from Nashville – and it’s gonna be a big group of us having a lot of fun. We’re gonna try our best to make her birthday really special and to have fun doing the shows and ringin’ in the New Year, and it should be a big time out there in Vegas.”

“When I look back at 2023, what stands out the most literally is how busy of a year it was and how amazing the Country On Tour was. You might prepare yourself for stuff to slow down a little bit, but for me it was not that way. I mean, the crowds were huge. We were selling ‘em out. The fans were going crazy. We had a lot of new baby acts come out with me, and I enjoyed getting to know them and hopefully being a part in taking their career to the next level. So, the Country On Tour was definitely the highlight of the year, as far as just how big it was and how the fans showed up every night.”

“For 2024, we haven’t announced our tour, but there’ll be a tour and we’ve got Crash My Playa coming up right at the top of the year. We’ve got Dierks and Jelly Roll and Eddie Montgomery from Montgomery Gentry – he and I are gonna do some songs together. I’m really excited about that. We got Dustin Lynch getting ready for the pool party, so Playa’s just been a great thing. Just about the time it gets too cold to be in Nashville, we fly to Mexico and get warm. Every time we’re driving to the airport, it’s a snowstorm.”

Travis Denning (favorite New Year’s Eve party) OC: …it was good. :41
“I think my favorite New Year’s Eve party ever was when my sister got married, and my sister’s party got done at 10:30, 10:45 and she got married right behind a little club that I played a lot in Macon, Georgia called the Crazy Bull and love the owner. We’re boys, you know? So, we just literally walked right over and burned the house down. That was one of my favorite New Year’s Eve memories, ‘cause I got to see my sister and brother-in-law get married and that was such a great, great time, and then me and my older cousin and best friend, we ended up at Waffle House that night, so it was good.”

“Well, this is probably a classic answer, but we did play New Year’s in New York and watched the ball drop and it was a big, special moment, one of those kind of check it off the bucket list type of moments, and we did that. And it is incredible. The energy’s amazing, and it’s super cold, but we had a great time. When I think of epic New Year’s, that’s definitely, it’s probably the first memory that comes to mind.”

  • CHRISTMAS 2023: Josh Ross

Newcomer Josh Ross has had a helluva 2023 with signing with UMG Nashville, releasing new songs, hitting the road with Nickelback, Bailey Zimmerman and many other shows. Since he’s been touring so much this year, he’s barely spent any time at home with his family back in Canada, so he’s looking forward to having several days with his family.

“This year’s been a really exciting year with touring and releasing new music and being on the road,” says Josh. “I haven’t really got to spend a lot of days at home especially in a row, so I get to go home home, which will be Ontario, Canada, and spend time with Mom, Dad, grandparents, brother and sisters and nieces and nephews and just kind of catch up on all of the things that I kind of got to miss this year. Luckily, I have Facetime and stuff like that, but actually being there with them is going to be great.”

Josh says one of the main things that would get him in the Christmas spirit growing up was cutting down the family Christmas tree. “The thing for me that would always solidify that Christmas is happening is we’d go and cut a tree down,” he says. “So, my mom, dad, myself and we used to take the dog that I had as a child, we’d all go out and cut a tree down, and that’s just like a Canadian thing. I think here we import the Northern trees, so the ornaments stay on them, but up there that’s what we got to do, so that’s something I’ll always remember as a kid year after year would get me in the spirit.”

One year, he was all into asking Santa for a PlayStation 2, but the fact was, he was never truly into playing video games, but he’d rather be playing outdoors. “All my friends had video games, and I was never very, very big into video games,” he says. “I was more like the go outside and play type, and honestly, this is really what speaks to me as a person now with different things in life, but I really wanted a PlayStation 2 and I remember like that was the big thing that I wanted. And I got a PlayStation 2, and I bet you I only played it for like a couple of weeks and then I was back to outside playing, and really just wasn’t super interested in it. I think that kind of still speaks to me today is I’d much rather be in the outdoors and not necessarily in front of a screen.”

One of Josh’s favorite holiday memories is when his older sister would come home from college. “So, my sister is 12 years older than myself, so she moved out West to go to school when I was like six-years-old,” he says. “She used to always come home during Christmas. I never knew when because I was young and didn’t really understand how the calendar worked, but I always remembered that my sister would fly home and come wake me up and like would always surprise me. So, that’s definitely one of my favorite Christmas memories is when my sister would come home from out West.”

Josh hasn’t watched a lot of Christmas movies, since he’s mostly a guy who likes to spend his time outdoors or on the road. However, he did finally watch the classic Elf all the way through for the first time this past week. “We were talking about Christmas movies, and I think I said I watched Elf all the way through. Now I understand what the World’s Best Coffee Shop means and all this kind of stuff and people have all these jokes around Christmas time.”

He has watched The Grinch several times, and in fact, it was one of his favorite movies growing up. There’s a little twist–he has a pretty cool connection to the film’s main star, actor Jim Carrey. He recently revealed that “fun fact,” and the reactions were priceless. “It’s funny, The Grinch was one of my favorite movies, and that was one that I watched, and I got to fill people in, I was like, ‘Well, my mom used to date ‘The Grinch.’’ And everybody was like, ‘Wait! What do you mean?’ And my mom’s boyfriend in high school was Jim Carrey. So, it’s kind of a cool, I guess, fun fact that most people would not know is he grew up in Burlington, Ontario and went to Aldershot High School, and he was my mom’s ninth grade, or freshman year, boyfriend.”

Josh will kick off his headlining trek, The Trouble Tour, on January 12th in Winnipeg, Canada and will continue throughout the year, interspersed between dates on the Bailey Zimmerman Religiously The Tour.
