The War And Treaty (Lover’s Game) 1 OC: …was honest. 1:26
TANYA: “We come from so many different places with music. I mean, we love blues, and when you think of country music and people always ask, ‘Why are you signed to a country music label?’ Well, blues, jazz, gospel, all of the things that make up who we are, you know, what we grew up listening to, even Calypso. My mother was Hispanic, so we grew up listening to all different styles of music. And then the Country music genre itself, it really exemplifies the kind of lifestyle that Michael and I have. It’s the one music you can have fun, you can drink a beer, you can talk about your faith, you can have a good time and it encompasses that sound, so you can write about all those things and the storytelling is there as well.” MICHAEL: “But with this album, if you don’t mind me interjecting, I think that the main focus was to let it just pour out of you however it’s gonna come out and intentionally given the sound of our love. Sometimes our love has the heartbreak of a country or a blues song; sometimes our love has the elegance and smokiness of jazz or the sexiness of R&B or the urgency salvation of gospel and Christian. So, we just wanted it to sound the way we felt and that was honest.”

Audio / The War and Treaty's Michael and Tanya talk about how their new album is a gift of love.

The War And Treaty (Church of The War and Treaty) OC: (Michael) …gift of love. :34
TANYA: “It’s what we say at our shows, you know, ‘Welcome to the Church of The War and Treaty and the message you’re gonna get here is love, love, love, love.’ That’s it. That’s how we introduce them to our shows, every show.” MICHAEL: “That’s our saying, all the time. It’s very important that you remember just how powerful love is, and love is not cliché, no matter how you slice it. Love never goes out of style, love is always in, and what we all need now is love and so this record is Tanya and I’s gift of love.”
